Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt he's not a hoarder. I'll pay what he paid plus shipping and a small extra amount for his time. If I wanted to pay 130 I would have boughten it at msrp

I checked the fore mentioned PSPs at a regular clearance stop for me. There were no copies available but the DCPI came up as full MSRP, atm.

Anybody else think Target is jumping the gun clearancing these out? I mean the NGP doesn't even have a release date yet does it? And from what I read wasn't it's tentative release date even pushed back to just "for the 2011 holiday season"?

Instead of doing clearance I would think they'd just run some nice sales/promos first and then after the NGP is released clearance them out.

Its just on one old bundle, but agreed its kind of dumb. Then again, they know whats selling, if no one is buying PSPs anymore (regardless of a new console being out), theyd rather take in some revenue with a small clearence than have to get rid of them at a serious loss

Especially with 3DS out.....

Target doesn't pay attention. I bought Dragon Age Ultimate last year right before xmas on clearance when it was till selling at full price. Target clearances limited edition games way earlier than anyone else. Hell, most places never clearance them and just wait for collector's.

I remember the Dragon Age UE thing, it was on clearance only a couple weeks after it came out. Then it went back up to full price and then clearanced out again recently. They did it with Halo Reach Legendary too, people were finding it for under $40 a couple weeks after it came out, on for it to be pulled and then put back out four months later.
Goatdan didnt know i had more milwaukee competition, i hit all the targets this week, no one had a dsi xl for 85 :(
Don't worry, I'm usually pretty lazy about getting gaming stuff. No time to play...

But yeah, if you went to the Midwest Gaming Classic a few weeks ago, I think Milwaukee has a pretty sizable gaming crowd! I guess that isn't bad though -- I have made some great finds on used stuff around town, so eventually they'll sell their stuff...

Yea, you always have those "I wonder how many times the last person played this on the toilet." moments. Or "I hope they didn't handle a lot of raw chicken while playing this." that sort of thing.
I can't imagine a store would have 200 PSPs, but then again, I wouldn't have believed a store had that many DSi XLs until I saw the picture. No matter, the bundles are still at $129.99 around me.
I think it's crazy when stores get quantities like that, but then again when Circuit City was going under, at least four or five of the stores around here while they had nothing in the way of PS3 systems had literally palate upon palate of Xbox 360 consoles. I remember walking into those stores and wondering why they had purchased seemingly thousands of units to stock at each of their stores.

It makes you wonder how many of these units a store moves in a regular week. 200 seems very odd, but definitely not beyond the realm of possibility.

Hey guys...been a long time since posting here as life has been nucking futs...thankfully things are getting better...anyways does anyone have the DCPI of the Mario DSiXL bundle?

Thanks!
my friends and i bought a few of the psps.. there were about 25 of them locked up in a case... and there was only one target near san jose that seemed to have them in stock. i actually was on a hunt for a GPS that night but luckily managed to bump into the huge stock of PSPs. no luck on the GPS though
San Jose, CA? Can you tell me which one? I'm kind of far, but if they have it I might be willing to drive.
Are you serious? Did you buy a lot in order to resell? I would love to buy one off you for a reasonable price PM me
I actually went to North SJ target Tuesday night and still got one. It looked like they had 10+ left, but it is probably all gone by now. They did say it was one per person though.

Is $12.48 likely the lowest Animal Crossing is going to drop? My Target had more than 50 copies hanging around, and somehow I don't see them selling out.

Since they started it at $50 MSRP, then it probably is, however some people in this thread have reported seeing other games go lower than 75% off occasionally. But never at my stores yet. It's still not that great of a deal considering some sellers on amazon already have it near that price.

Depends on if they sell at that price. If not, I imagine it will continue to go lower until it sells out.

Based on how many they have at the store I was at, how long ago this game came out (seriously, it's over two years old!), how low the online price is, and that it *feels* like Animal Crossing Wii didn't exactly do amazing business like the previous ones, I would be surprised if it doesn't drop further.

I'll be in at $4.98 if it gets there. If not, I'm not really that interested...

Games rarely drop below 75%. So, if you're interested at all, grab it. Next week or anytime thereafter it will likely be salvaged, and you won't get a chance to buy it at all.

Stopped at Salisbury, MD Target today, no PSPs or DS's were on clearance at all. In fact they had stickers in front of both "As Advertised" so I'm guessing they're trying to put them on sale/advertise for them first before they decide to clearance them out.

There appeared to be one Mario Kart DS in the case (red box) but I couldn't tell for sure. If it's still there in a week or so I may has to get it out and have it scanned.

I'm looking to score a Heavy Rain for clearance but i noticed a target near my place still has the black boxed (non-GH) case in the locked cases and i can't check their price. How do i know i'm getting the right UPC code generated to print out? Since i'm sure it's different code from the GH one right? http://product.half.ebay.com/Heavy-Rain-Sony-Playstation-3-2010/56257131&tg=info

That's what i ended up with and they had no GH version. Can someone who bought a clearanced Heavy Rain confirm the UPC for me please? Thanks

Can't you just ask an employee to open up the case and check for you?

I'm 99% sure the UPC codes are the same on both the black-label and GH versions. The codes usually don't change when a GH edition is released.

Just so people know (I keep seeing people say "just put the DCPI in the price scanner"), not all Targets have the new scanners... Mine is one of them, if I want to check something that I can't get to I need an employee and many times there are none. Even if I hit the button, I've gotten other employees who are not electronics and they couldn't even find the electronics people. Now this is just sometimes, other times there's 2 or 3 employees back there.

Still, point is don't just assume somebody has the new scanners at their store.

This is true.

my KZ3 had the same along w/ Uncharted

Its not really anything worth getting into but at this point it is fairly safe to assume that, even though the poster in question made no mention of it, any surrounding Target would have a "new" (not really new anymore) scanner. Going by this thread alone its rare to see someone bring up this "issue". In my area (not a major city) we have about 10 - 15 surrounding Targets and all but one of them have the "new" scanners.
Was just a suggestion

You can print out bar codes.

You don't need an electronics employee. Just someone with a PDA.

the point is, you don't need anyone, just a printer and the ability to type.

Hey, if people are going to snap them up at $12.48 to sell them on eBay for, uhm, looks like $14-$15, then they can hoard away. I'm still not interested at $12.48, and unlike PSPs that I'm sure people can get nearly full price for, I see no reason for people to hoard that game.

I have at least one store with only old scanners, and some other stores have the new scanners but the keypad is either shifted so you can't push the buttons or the buttons don't output the right numbers. So I think some stores purposely disable the new scanners to prevent customers from doing too much inventory snooping.

2 of my targets games clearance endcaps looked gutted today, not even shovelware, and the electronics aisles are being rearranged in both. I'm wondering if they dumped a lot of stuff to salvage, because I don't think a hoarder would even bother with the games they had.

Shocked: saw Truth or Lies for Xbox 360 for $2.xx. No 360 so didn't get it.

What I did pick up?
DSi Duracell Power Mat for $7.48 and Shaun White skateboarding for PS3 for $9.99.

This was @ the Fishers Super Target.

I have the charging mat that I got 75% off ($12.xx) over a year ago for my PS3 controllers. I LOVE that thing. I wish they would have had them for the Xbox and Wii controllers at the time, I would've bought them too.

Was near a Target in Redlands, CA that supposedly had the PSP bundles in stock, so I went in and looked it up on the scanner. According to that thing, they had them in stock but they were priced at $90.34.

Still a deal but I was only willing to bite on the low ass price someone said on here.

I was down at that target a few days ago, didn't see any PSPs in the glass display. They told me they didn't have any. They're probably hoarding them or the inventory system sucks.

Yes, i don't want to bother the employee because most of the time all i get is the price is $29.99, what it's labeled. They don't want to check and i'll feel stupid when i tell them to check anyways and it ends up being $29.99. I've had many employees do that and they act like they're right with everything. So i'd rather have a barcode and do it myself quickly, a simple scan and i can be out. Basically every target i have near me, even one that was only opened about 4 years ago do not have the new scanners.

But to my question, i'm asking this because someone said heavy rain was on sale for $20 but if the UPC is the same i don't see how it'll be $20 if i scan it, maybe if it has a red tag on it. But other than that i think it'll scan as $29.99 if both UPC of GH and Black Boxes are the same. Unless someone can tell me otherwise, Thanks for your help guys. I think i'll print out a UPC of it and try anyways. Just to see if it comes up cheaper.
Bought Worms Battles Islands (Wii) for $7.49 today.
Great game, great price. You'll have lots of fun with that one.

EDIT: BTW--no clearance PSPs at the following Richmond stores:
Short Pump
Virginia Center
Staples Mill

They all had a couple of PSP minis, and 1-4 reg PSPs.

Guitar accessories, USB turntables, electric drums, microphones, and some sheet music are all on clearance. Looks like Target is getting out of the Guitar business.

Did you actually see them or were you just going by the scanner?
... i dunno that sounds like BS to me. I would think that stores would have some rules in place to prevent stuff like that from happening. I wont even comment on the '200 psp' part. Why the hell would a target have that many? Even electronic stores wouldn't carry that many in stock
i'm pretty sure a couple pages back someone took a photo of an end cap of Mario DS' on clearance and it was completely packed, so i think that at least affords him some leeway here.

Those of you in NE Ohio may want to check the Bainbridge/Aurora store. I saw two of the 60GB hard drive XBOX 360 bundles for $24.98 and two PS2 slims for $49.98. I thought about getting each of those, but I just don't have a need for them, and those pesky student loans certainly have priority.

Thanks man! Too bad I have a slim 360 and a white PS2 already or I'd jet up there! (it's only about 35 minutes for me)
