Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
All this talk about GPS units, I picked up the last Geomate Jr for $17ish(?) at the Short Pump Richmond Target last week (sorry, I tossed the DCPI sticker). I noted other locations still had these in the mid to upper $20s.
Check your receipt. The DPCI is right there.

Hey, just letting you all know that I saw Crysis 2 for 360 at Target for 34.99. Some deal because they were out of Halo Reach. This was at the West Albuquerque Target 87114.

I went into my closest Target today to check to see if any of the clearance shit dropped and to my surprise the two :ps3:Def Jam Rapstar bundles were still there and marked $12.48.

I was going to buy them to hook up CAG's who couldn't find them in their own area, but they came up out of the system.

The employee in electronics thanked me for bringing that to his attention and took both behind the counter.:whistle2:#

When they ring up out of system, ask them to look up the last known price and sell it to you. If they won't, then ask for a manager. When I have found OOS stuff, they have looked up the last known price and sold it to me with no problems.

This is a one store only thing. It's a substitution for an out of stock sale item. Usually the electronics employee on hand when they sell out is the one who gets to decide what item (if any) to substitute. Looks like your store has a cool electronics guy :p, I used to substitute new releases every time a sale game sold out just because our prices were always so noncompetitive.

doesnt target have a substitution policy where they will substitute any item in the same department instead of giving a raincheck?

Picked up the 60 GB starter pack for $24.98. Pretty good price for the hard drive and 3 months of live.

I already had one from back when I first got my system, so I'll probably use the old hard drive for my games with big/numerous DLC like (ME1/2, Fallout 3, etc.) that I'm going to keep saved long term and use the new one for the other stuff.

Ummm. NO!

There is sometimes and "Instant Substitute" if products are severely understocked. But it's usually a corporate decision and you would see an official printed sign. Store managers can decide to do it too, but that would be more rare.
Ummm. NO!
lol.. actually i just found my answer..and i think you are wrong.. I remember doing this last year for bedding..

check out this raincheck.. it is from 2008 though..

Employees can do this yes, but most of them won't/don't know how.

Electronics does it a lot though so we all knew how. You can do it one-off or actually set it up and print the signs without managerial approval if you know how.
Ummm. NO!
Actually they do. You won't see it often, and sometimes the substitutions don't make a lot of sense. I once saw a Lego shelf tag offering a substitute of a young girl toy--it struck me as making no sense. I have seen it only once with a DS game--again the substituted game made no sense.

From the way the original person asked the question, it sounded like he was asking if the customer could just ask for any item in that department -- which clearly is a no. It's up to the manager/corporate on what they will use as the substitute.

Oh you're out of PS2s? I'll take a PS3 then for the same price.

I was talking about the percentage off, not the price..
for example, if the ps2 was on sale for $50 from the usual $100 price and they were out of stock on them you could pick up a ps3 for 50% off..

well, that clearly isn't gonna happen.

No GPSs for me...I did see tons of LEGO Indiana Jones Original, LEGO Indy 2 adventure continues, and LEGO star wars complete saga for 4.98 PC versions. Picked up ACII for PC 7.48 and a wierd one - Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 for 360 9.98 207-22-0521

That seems like an excellent deal. I might have to check for this the next time I hit up Target even though I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore games. :)

The PS2 isn't on sale, it's on Clearance. This example wouldn't work because their goal is to be OOS. Don't forget the receipt says "Some Exclusions Apply"

Found zero game-related clearence at a store today, not even the shovelware I'm used to seeing. I did get a chuckle out of this though...

Yikes! So much for the RRoD-proof theory.

I gotta imagine with the heat these put off, sure not as much as the older models but still a good amount, that putting them in a plastic box with just a few air holes isn't a good idea.

out of curiosity, i put my hand near the vents on the plastic prison to see how hot these things got and it was pretty warm. (and this was near early morning when target just opened)

when these were first released, my friend got one and mentioned "it does push out a lot of hot air, but that should be a good thing"

Saw some copies of Wario Ware D.I.Y. for $17.48 DCPI 207-02-0465 still waiting for the dsi xl bundles to drop down from $125, hope its soon!!!

Does target bother turning them off?
Does target bother turning them off?
i'd be surprised if they didn't turn them off at night.

target must be trying to save some money on electricity if all the new food aile refrigerators have motion sensors that turn on/off automatically when no one is there for a while. wouldn't make sense to leave TVs and demo consoles on 24/7

Employees turn the TVs off. If the employee doesn't know how to turn off the 360 then it stays on. And since you can't reach the button... it probably stays on often.

I know that its not on sale.. I was just using if it was on SALE example.. I know you can't subsitute clearance...

Also today I got a raincheck on tiger woods for 37, the raincheck did not have the substitution on the bottom.. so maybe they no longer substitute..

I doubt this is true:

9.98
Monster Hunter Tri (game only) (updated 2-15-11)

My local target is still showing $29.99 on DPCI 207-26-0593
Can anyone confirm the $9.98 price?

That Xbox is bound to fail in the plastic prision. There is no air movement in the box, the xbox is on for very long periods of time, and it is standing up. The vent is on the top of the xbox now for horizontal position. I would think horizontal would cool the box better. Plus even though it's a better design these things still get pretty hot.

It's not nationwide, thus YMMV.

Headed to the Target in Hawaii because I read about a 19inch TV with a built in DVD player (Magnavox brand) http://www.target.com/Magnavox-Class-720p-60Hz-Combo/dp/B003AVMZ54

I read that it was on clearance for $85.xx but when I went to the Target here to try and grab them they said something about the TV was pulled and is being "Salvaged" and sent back to the manufacture..pretty crappy deal for me but maybe you folks can find one for that price if anyones looking for a 19inch tv/dvd player.

DPCI - 008-09-0359

Like all Target clearances items YMMV.
Does anyone know of a Target in DFW that has Star Wars II CE on PS3 for $19.98 at this time?
Depending on how badly you want it, amazon is selling them for 30 new at the moment, actually I think the ps3 version is 27.xx. I am tempted at that price, but I didn't really like the game all that much, I would be more interested in USB drive than the game haha.

I wasn't crazy about Force Unleashed II either, especially at that price. (I upset a big fan of the game with my review actually)

Managed to snag a TomTom GPS for $29.98. I moved to a new state a few months ago so this will be a huge help. Snagged another one for my dad who has the directional sense of a drunk toddler, man gets lost in a Wal Mart.

Got the last Mario Red DSi XL for 125. Other than that, jack at three different targets. Grabbed a $10 copy of Excitebots. They had some no-name mouse for $2.50. One had some 4GB SDHC cards for $10, I thought about grabbing one but I don't need any.

Well if anyone can hook me up with this at the $9.98 price plus s&h, please send me a PM. I would be much obliged.
are the clearance games usually on the clearance racks or on the prison shelf? or both?
At all the stores in my city, they're mostly put on a endcap. However I have also found them in the prison before also, but this is kinda rare.

Got lucky haven't been to Target in a long time but found the last ps2 they had for 49.98. Nothing else that I wanted but considering I went there strictly for a ps2 just to have as a back up for my old ps2 I'm happy.
Does the little big planet PSP bundle still have a UMD slot or is it download only?

What about the PSP 3000?
They are the same thing. PSPgo is the only download only device
