Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
My target is Hoarders free, because every clearance game is still $20.98 for the last 2 months.
Keep watching. Monopoly Streets sat at my store for $27.98 before it dropped to $9.98 in one day. I think they skip pricing clearance items depending on how busy/lazy they are.
I dont know if anyone cares but I found the official Sony PS3 Component cables for 9.98. DCPI was 207-00-0716
People use those?
hoarders are the exact reason I never say which target I find my stuff at, I'll say the city, they can have fun wasting gas driving to all dozen in the area.
It always horrifies me when another CAG mentions the exact same target I go to since then I get even less of a chance to get the clearance games.

At least when only the city is mentioned, the hoarders have to work for it though I would prefer they didn't say the location at all to give all of us a chance instead of the hoarders zeroing in and taking all the good stuff.

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if the Target I've been to is just at a lack of clearance games or if they're just not bothering with the clearance tags? I looked at the games behind the cases and out of all the games I saw, only one was marked with a red clearance tag, and that was a game I had no intention of buying. Everything else wasn't marked though. Seems hard to believe..

Should I be asking employees to price check or not even bother? I'm wondering if they're just lazy and haven't followed up on adding new prices to games.

Some stores just suck... I went to one target today as I really want Borderlands GOTY for 7. They had one on display and the guy wouldnt scan it, but claimed it would 100% ring up for 39.99 (is that even the MSRP anymore?). I would have pushed it but another store which was out of system would only offer me 10 usd off the 40. I do think its odd you dont have a "misc" section since every store I go to has games like Demon Souls GOTY for 20.

That is kind of strange.. but in your case I think you should've asked a different employee or something. It's strange to think that they wouldn't scan it. I used to work at Target a lifetime ago and the sales floor team members all carry around pricing guns/PDAs and it would take minimal effort to scan an item and it would tell you if it is on clearance and what the price would be. I used to do it all the time for people when I was working there. It's hard to believe they would simply refuse to scan something lol.

I suppose next time I go back I'll have them scan a few games I'm interested in and see if they're clearanced. It's possible the Target I live by is just not into lowering prices but something tells me the employees just aren't using those red stickers like they should be.

It was the display one in the plastic prison. Trust me if that store had a good deal anywhere... I would have pressed for it.
Damn. And, I thought I was a psycho... WTF???!!!!
I just got tired of seeing so many people in a row start a post with "So I called and..." It's like CAG 101 that you never call, it's a rule we should all follow. Just like not posting to Slick Deals. Both are quick ways to kill a deal.

Target electronic clearance is a little secret that we should do our best to keep to ourselves. There's a scarcity of available clearance games, and the more people that know about them, the fewer amount of games will be up for grabs.

Calling customer service may feel like it's OK, but don't you think you can run into a video game fan in customer service who might see the item description and think, "Well, maybe I should go and get that for myself right now!"

As for the El Hoardo debate, I definitely believe in hoarders and have seen someone go in and buy a gaggle of games at once. Don't you wonder where people at flea markets and swap meets get their electronic goods from? It's not all stolen or used stuff.

P.S. I liked the El Phono picture, but I think we need an epic hand drawn version like El Hoardo. That is one of the greatest things in CAG history.

A whole bunch of PSPGos in the case here (about 10 of them), I doofed and didn't write the number down. They are only at 15% right now (so they are 170). When do you guys think is the price where I should pull the trigger to get one to avoid somebody scooping them all up on me.
I dont know if anyone cares but I found the official Sony PS3 Component cables for 9.98. DCPI was 207-00-0716
Yeah. The Sony Av cables and Component cables are $5.98. Haven't seen the HDMI in a while.
Some stores just suck... I went to one target today as I really want Borderlands GOTY for 7. They had one on display and the guy wouldnt scan it, but claimed it would 100% ring up for 39.99 (is that even the MSRP anymore?). 'Wouldn't scan it'? They can't tell you no. I would have laughed as the look in my eyes FORCED him to scan it.

Picked up the last copies of super street fighter 4 at my local target. Can't figure out what the dcpi number is on this receipt but "ncf ps3 game" rang up at 7.48 a piece.

Edit: 207-24-0350 both were for ps3

now that my favorite Targets are doing the 70% clearance cycle instead of 75%, I mysteriously can't bring myself to buy things I normally would've. it's bizarre.
People use those?
Well for capturing PS3 footage, you can't use an HDMI cable because of the HDCP stuff still I believe.
People use those?
I do. I realize I have just lost all Internet credibility and am even more worthy of being mocked, but there's your answer.

Wasnt there the DCPI number somewhere on the price tag? You could have walked over to a self scanner yourself and manually entered the number

I went to the League City Super Target and there was pretty much empty. All copies of Wolverine for ps3 were gone with the lone copy of Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition which I actually wanted. There were about 3 or 4 shovelware wii games left. Boo.

it wasn't on clearance, but I find it odd that its not considering the game is not in their system anymore. The only reason I didnt push it was last time I found one (which was also out of system at the time) was weird. The game originally stated it was out of system and then displayed the price of 30 usd around 20 seconds post that.

Lol I was mostly being sarcastic, since I had been using one til recently, and still have one from gamestop that can be hooked up to Wii/Xbox/360/PS2/PS3. Didn't think I'd get a backlash.

However, I didn't really think $10 was really great for it.

yea but my slim will not hook up to my tv via hdmi . it work on the living room tv but not mine... fairly common problem with slim.

This happened to me once and I thought it was pretty funny. The clerk at electronics saw me and asked if she can help me with something. At first I said no as I told her I was just looking around but later on I saw a clearance game behind the glass case, when Target still carried games behind glass cases. I then asked her to scan it to see if the price was lower than marked on the red clearance sticker but she argued with me for a good minute that it was the same as the sticker.

She finally relented and scanned it and when it came up the same price as the sticker, she had the most smug look on her face. And to think just a few minutes prior she asked if she could help me with something and when I finally did need help, she had some horrible attitude. Oh well, I just thought of sharing my funny experience.

What a jerk, it literally takes like two seconds to scan something.

Grabed a copy of Transformers: War for Cybertron for $9.98

The day before there was at least 15 copies of Battlefield Bad Company 2 on Xbox and today there were zero. This seems to happen a lot at my target. I think th employees buy them up or put them away once they hit a low price

Not sure if it was mentioned recently, but if your store has the scanners with the side keypads, you can input the dcpi on them to get the price yourself. I much prefer this method because then you don't have to deal with possibly douchey employees. And the DCPI is always on the price tag label
LTTP but holy shit hilarious.

fuck off el hordo, fuck off.
Meh. Besides Buzz, most of those games seem to be pretty close to their clearance prices minus what I guess is a finders fee for some of the slight markups.

I wouldn't mind if more CAGs would offer the deals they find in that kind of manner, honestly.
Found resistance 2 ps3 $4.98 heading back to the target I was at yesterday to pick up the copy of vanquish I left there

Dcpi 207-24-0174
Damnit!
I was at the Target near me yesterday and they still had Resistance 2 for $29.99
Would LOVE to get it for the price you saw it!

The target near me NEVER, and yes I mean NEVER, has any kind of good clearance on video games.
Their idea of clerance is marking something from $49.99 to $48.92.
I actually saw something once that was marked on clearance and the orange sticker was higher than the normal sticker on it.

Did you scan it? When I found :ps3:BF:BC2 it still had the $29.99 clearance tag. If you are already there, just go to the scanner and punch in the DPCI :)

Are you sure you weren't in a WalMart by mistake, since that sounds like Wally World's idea of clearance.

But I know how you feel. The stores around here never drop shit to a cheap price and if they do other shoppers grab them up before I can. That's why I damn near passed out when I saw :ps3:Xmen Origins: Wolverine Uncaged, :ps3:Monopoly Streets and :ps3: NCAA Football 10 at an out of town Target yesterday and bought them.

I'll probably return the NCAA one, even though it was only $6 something, but I wanted to play Wolverine(though letting a buddy borrow that for a couple of days) and Monopoly, even though I've already played games like God Of War and I have the PSN version of Monopoly.

Plus I'm sure the computer cheats like crazy(trying to get you to trade a ton of properties for nothing of value) in the Monopoly Streets game like it used to in the other Monopoly games.

why does everyone get excited when they find two year old sports games? i see madden/ncaa/nba 2010 versions all over target.
i don't see the point of picking it up with the rosters being two years out of date.

I honestly don't have a clue WHY I even picked it up, since I think the last sports title I played was a WWE game. Like I said, I'll probably just return it to my local Target. Either that or I'll throw it up on Amazon for chuckles for like $10-11 and see if someone bites.;)

in my case... my brother usually buys at MSRP (I know I know...), but rarely gets all of them so they're cheap/easy gifts for him.

Wish I could find war for cybertron at that price doesn't seem to wanna budge below 29.99 in my area. I think you're right about the employees...I passed on a copy of vanquish last night. It was gone by today... :whistle2:(

I just got rid of :ps3:Transformers last week or so to FYE for $15 cash. I had it since release and I hated how limited the ammo was, so I never even finished it.:whistle2:#

That's exactly why I've still never finished it.

Some of the characters blow through ammo so fast that you end up meleeing half the enemies... sucks on hard.
