I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

Never seen Cloverfield but man did the Far Cry 3 writers do a great job of making me have mixed feelings about playing the game, because on the one hand it was fun but on the other hand fuck having to hear that d-bag say words

Someone really needs to make a mod that changes the lead characters dialog and voice acting. Jar Jar Binks would likely be an improvement.

 
Have Dead Island GOTY and Riptide been apart of any bundles besides the one where Riptide was in the $9 tier?  A buddy has been badgering me to get it for awhile and $6 seems like a good price for the complete collection.

I finally just finished FarCry 3 a few weeks ago and I've also seen Cloverfield. So... yes, both. Death to both. We're in agreement.

My gut tells me that overall it's gotta be less, but I do see a fair amount of buying activity on my Friends List feed. I've personally spent about $30 versus $18 last year. Now, most of that has gone towards the Disney Mega Pack 2 and the 3D Realms Anthology packs, Take those out for whatever reason and I've made about half as many individual purchases this year.

I guess the true test is going to be the Winter Sale. If they follow the same discount guideline, will we start buying stuff out of boredom? Will Gabe come up with some crazy event/scheme that goads us all into buying more than we should?

Gaming Stuff during BF:

0 games so far from Steam.

Bought FF13-2 from NewEgg.

Non-Gaming Stuff during BF:

Bought more music than I can think of dirt-cheap from Windows 10 Store since that sale began + six $2 albums from Best Buy last night. I guess that certainly makes up for barely buying any music this year period.

Motoki makes a fair point about game libraries and he's not wrong but I also made purchases from GMG, Gamersgate and Nuuvem so it's not as though I was unwilling to buy stuff.

I liked Far Cry 3 a lot despite the main char.  But yeah he was pretty shit.  

Coincidentally, watched Cloverfield again recently and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.  But yeah, the narrator sucked.

In other news no one cares about besides me: I am finally nearing the end of the Witcher 3.  170 hours in.  At one point I was sure I was going to go and unlock all the question marks on the map, but at this point I think I'm going to move on when the main story is done. Loving the game still by the way.

In other other news that hopefully someone will care about: A certain crazy part of me is telling me that what I need is another fantasy game to play immediately after I finish tW3.  I'm looking at Shadow of Mordor despite knowing that in a couple weeks I can probably get it for a little less.

I guess what I am saying is - someone please talk me into or out of it.

Is everyone unable to purchase from Steam? I know I bought about $60 in games between those bundles, but it's not letting me checkout with Steam Wallet, Paypal, or credit card.

 
Spent more money on Final Fantasy & Dragon Quest Android games than PC games (spent $0 on Steam Sale) this Black Friday  :oldman:

I care! I haven't played in a week or so, but I am about 7-8 hours into it. Really dug what I played, so far. I need to get back to it. Glad to hear you're still loving it, after 170 hours or so.

Last game I really sunk tons of time in - around 150 hours or so - and still loved it was DA: Inquisition. I really hope TW3 can hold me for those kind of 100+ hours.

SoM GOTY was $12.50 on the UPLAY store for the Steam key in the past. I didn't buy it; I held out. I'd say "Wait" until it hits that price again or less.

Personally, I also own other AC-style games to play - i.e. AC: Rogue + Unity - so I'm not really in a rush to get SoM.

Less currently (at least compared to sales overall, rarely buy much in the spring/fall sales), but much of that is from trying to finishing idling cards to save some cash. Probably end up more then I normally would from a fall sale, but again see above.

In general been maybe 4 or 5 deals I was interested in, one of those being Pinball tables though so how much that counts I don't know =p. The lack of dailies, I think, hasn't help much as there is just too much to sort though to try to find something that sounds interesting. Usually in the Summer/Winter sales of the past, I'd end up buying at least 1 or 2 games I wasn't planning on originally because it was either featured as a flash sale, or in voting. Granted it's nice being able to wait (as well as being able to not wait, since the price shouldn't change days later).

I haven't bought anything yet, although its probably a mixture of having a good enough backlog for the moment and the sale prices/lack of daily specials. Some of the newer games have gotten a decent enough discount that I'd jump on them if I *really* wanted to play them, but I feel catching up on my backlog will save me more money in the long run.

 
Any tips to fix screen tearing on a PC connected to TV via HDMI? Skyrim looks fine on my laptop screen but tears like crazy on my 60hz LCD TV. Vsync is on. Do I need to change a setting to make my TV the primary screen or something? Brand new to PC on TV gaming; any help appreciated.

No idea if this will help - but I had a similar problem last year and it went away when I adjusted my laptop's display to my TV's resolution.

I also set the TV as the primary display. You can also turn VSYNC on in the in-game settings as well.

Set your TV input to pc or game mode. In some cases the input label will have to be changed to one of those as well. My LG is that way. Most TVs are only 60hz with accelerated 120, 240, etc. Chances are 60 fps is ur cap. You can also try forcing vsync through the nvidia control panel.

Id say this. On alot of cards the vsync will follow whatever is set as the primary display, so if your laptop is set as primary your still going to get tearing. Its one reason why I ditched ati cards a while ago since they would tear like crazy when sending one output to a tv unless it was reset as master, and this was just for watching movies so it was already a constant sub-60fps framerate. At least with more recent nvidia cards (660 and newer) I never had this

Thanks everyone for the screen tearing tips! I'll give them a try and report back. It sounds like the problem is that vsync is adjusting for my monitor's settings and not the TV's.
 
Nuuvem was my store of choice this sale.
Got Wolfenstein TNO, Dishonored GOTY and Southpark.
All finaly hit five bucks and I don't think they will be cheaper during winter sale, except the Bethesda bundle that will inevitably start in the next 14 days ;).

If anybody got in on the brief price mistake for Dragonball Xenoverse in September Gamestop now has the Season Pass at 75% off.

Oddly, they are not selling the base at 75% off nor is anyone else selling the base or the season pass at 75% off. Possibly it's a price mistake but it's really only useful to people who own Dragonball Xenoverse. 

Speaking of price mistakes, the (new) King's Quest at Newegg at 75% off obviously was one because they've fixed it now and it's only 25% off.

Lastly, on the subject of Newegg it seems they've wised up and priced at least some of those gift with purchase codes at full retail (which then deducts if bought as part of a combo) instead of a penny or 99 cents just in case some enterprising shoppers find a way to get those codes without the required combo item.  :p

Just FYI, I think you all are sleeping on Transformers Devastation. Yeah, yeah, it's "only four hours." blah blah. But it's a Platinum combat game and it has damn near the cleanest Platinum fighting I've seen. Only one QTE the whole game, not even one segment of bullshit that makes me regret playing again. It's not as rewarding as Bayonetta but I think it's a far better buy than DMC4SE

Is this game even good? I have so much Darksiders I've never played.

The site checks your Hurrsiders and deploys it directly to your account. You can't double dip because it doesn't give you a key, just sticks Darksiders 2 into your account if you meet the critera.

It is about #$&* time this happened. The nonsense that ensued of e-mail us then whining about being flooded with email requests. I signed into the above, it properly read my account (I had the season pass for instance) and it gave/redeemed me the latest iteration. This is what should happen with the trend of game to game w/season pass to GOTY version to deathinitive/definitive version. I hope others took notice and think also about; ok you are missing this DLC or component - this is the cost to upgrade (and this should be relatively cheap). It is slimy to not offer options to upgrade and in effect screw over the people that bought the game early on. Making it easier to upgrade will pay dividends with customer service and loyalty.

Yeah, so even if you meet the requisites but you bought it you're SOL, you won't get another key.

 
Is this Darksiders redeem site down? I can't get it to work

EDIT: Nevermind, it's working now. Sadly, I don't own enough DS2 to qualify. Luckily, I haven't ever played a Darksiders game and don't really give a schmidt.

You read me right if you did not forget a "not" in there. DMC4 is trash with slight bits of brilliance.

The competition is MGR and Korra though, and apart from Armstrong I think Transformers stands strong against those. Oh, and DmC but I liked DmC a lot more than I should have.
