No, I'm sure NISA and Atlus still have their defibrillators on full charge.

mana khemia 2 is coming out as well...
It is a preorder bonus according to Amazon's page for it... but considering how Atlus always ends up printing way more preorder bonuses, chances are these will be available for a long time.
Trust me, its not a preorder bonus (Amazon's listing is inaccurate in that regard) Each and every launch copy will be packaged with the Raiho Plush as you have seen. EACH AND EVERY ONE. There is no such thing as a game-only launch copy of Devil Summoner *cough*4*cough*.

If you get a manufacturer sealed copy of the first print, there should be Raiho Plush accompanying it. Seqsequent prints (if any) are a different story.
and now, just announced, Sakura Wars V will be coming to ps2 this fall! wow ps2 continues to live.

http://kotaku.com/5245006/segas-sakura-wars-finally-coming-stateside-but-not-from-sega
One thing you should know about Kotaku is that sometimes of their "announcement" articles (well, some of their articles in general) are old news.

The news about Sakura Taisen V (like Trinity Universe from earlier that day) is actually old news. Its been known since last year. All that really happened recently was more concrete details about it were revealed (such as the Wii port)

The slight difference being that NISA usually makes garbage while Atlus usually makes greatness.

I'm also on the fence. I still need to finish the first game. I LOVE the setting, the character designs, etc, but there was something about the monster collection and merging that made the game tedious. I really need to sit down with a faq and play through the first one.

I think it's funny that the ps2 is still releasing rpgs that are better than what Xbox 360 and ps3 are releasing. I mean considerably better.

With a couple of exceptions of course.

Yeah, honestly ToV is the only must-have. Lost Odyssey is also good for the masochists errr traditionalists. Persona 3, 4 and Devil Summoner 2 are definitely giving the next-gen consoles a run for their money.

Game supposedly is out tomorrow, but my Amazon order has not changed status.

Bummer. They are slow with my Raiden Fighters pre-order as well. :/

For those of you still on the fence for this game it might be important to know that under product details Amazon lists that it is discontinued by the manufacturer. If you really want this game or are debating about it I highly recommend that you pre-order.

No, I think it being discontinued is in reference to the fact that the original run with plushes has been made and when they sell out of that it'll just be the normal game sans bonus.

Amazon better ship it well packed. The whole thing itself is pretty much display ready
They say "super limited" on the plush, but this pre-order has been up forever at amazon and EB/GS. Still ordering, just annoying how Atlus plays its fans like a fiddle :)
Ahh how foolish you are :). How dare you mock the house of RAIHO!

Seriously though, Atlus is known for the limited runs, even the mods on the official site are emailing me about the less than stellar numbers they expect this game to sell, so dont expect there to be so many laying around.

A lot Atlus stuff this generation are really easy to find, Metla Saga, Odin Sphere, many of their DS games

They aren't really known for that anymore. After DDS1 people have been *afraid* of every release selling out and while they have on occasion, Atlus has always usually been quick with the reprint. Maybe in a few years it'll be tough to find some of these games. and Atlus usually hints at a game's scarcity, but imo, they are one of the bigger jrpg publishers and they certainly aren't that willing to let their games get too valuable for too long...all those ebay sales are lost revenue. It's not a good thing to let a product you can easily print appreciate to $100s on the aftermarket.

In this case though, I do take it back...a little. We'll see how many are actually in the wild pretty soon :)

Don't want to worry people but the order I placed a long time ago shipped but my second most recent order did not ship.

Thats prob because fulfillment goes in order of order placement chronologically, which makes sense.

I preordered a while back, but canceled and replaced my order with the ECA code. I don't mind since finals are next week for me *head asplodes*

My order status changed to shipping soon as well!!!
Order Date: April 21, 2009

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a problem with my order at Amazon...they sent out an email to me tonight. I fixed the problem...so, hopefully my game ships out soon.

I can't for the game to arrive even though I won't play another SMT game for a while. I have a feeling (like some of you), though, that the game+plushie might turn into another P4 social link expansion pack scalper fest.

It would be interesting to see how many they printed since supposedly each copy will be numbered (of course does it mean xxx/xxx or tell you what number you received).

The social link was just left over from the Japanese Konami style, and it was out of stock before release. I dont think you can compare the two.

Only the plushes from Social Link were in the P4 Konamistyle. Shirt was different, no calendar in Konamistyle.

I have been keeping an eye on this thread, but I don't see a good answer... what is the appeal of this game? Is it actually fun to play, or is this about collecting an obscure title and its bonus item? The few reviews so far are OK, but not great.

This is coming from someone who hasn't played an SMT game before. Thanks for any opinions.

Everybody who has theirs "soon to be shipped" already, did you have normal shipping or free super saver shipping?

I ordered February 1, but still has May 18 shipping day with FSSS.

By my reckoning, most never even heard of or played the previous Devil Summoner on the PS2, and are probably just speculating on the collect-ability and value of the game, and especially because of the bonus gift, based on previous similar releases.

Past SMT games have sold out and fetched a high resale value on eBay (though just about all the PS2 SMT games have gotten reprints which are still easily available, even if they lack some goodies from the original print runs), and the last SMT plush toy (for Persona 4) went out of stock pretty fast and fetches a pretty high price now.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say this release wouldn't be getting all the attention it has if it didn't have the bundled plush.
Well, some might still be getting it cause it's an Atlus game, and many have this perception that Atlus = rare = resale for profit (though personally it hardly holds true anymore, certainly not as much as it used to), but the plushie I guess sealed the deal for many.

IMHO, I don't think this game will appreciate in value much, as there seems to be quite a large manufacturing run. It's been available on Amazon since January (other than a brief period when it was out-of-stock), and has been amongst their top-selling video games consistently, so there must have been plenty of orders for it already, yet it's still in stock.

I'm guessing we'll see plenty of the game alone selling used at GameStop a couple of months down the line actually.

I've found the reviews to be quite good, this isn't the type of game that needs 10/10 from reviews to please its fans. That it is an improvement over the 1st game- especially the random battles- was enough to convince me. I'm excited to play it.
Without a doubt, though, this sealed set with the plushie will rise in value. Even if the game-only may be readily.

Sorry, but 8.whatevers are actually GREAT scores from western reviewers for any JRPG without a Square-Enix logo.

Then again, my favorite video game (not just RPG) ever is SMT: Nocturne, and that received lower scores than this, so I personally couldn't care less about reviews anyway.

Sweet, at 11pm EST last night mine changed to shipping soon. At 10am EST, they shipped and will be arriving tomorrow! 2-day FSSS FTW!

And to answer your question Sentinel, I'm getting one to keep and play and another to collect. I wouldn't have preordered it for either purpose if it didn't come with the plushie. The sweet outer packaging is the reason I'm getting a second for collection purposes. I do want one plushie for myself to display proudly on my desk at work.

Ohh wow. They reduced the price of my second order and moved the ship date to June 26. Must mean that they ran out of the limited editions. Guess im going to have to preorder this at my local gamestop for my second copy

Sorry to see people who preordered early getting dicked with the shipping dates. This happened to me with Persona 3 FES. I'm glad to say I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't get screwed this time, I have Prime and my copy is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I preordered on 1/30/09.

What's the new price on the delayed copy?

I reordered mine on 4/21 with my ECA discount, and it's shipping soon, expected arrival remained 5/15 (same as my original January order).

Actually ignore my previous post. Both orders have shipped. I was confused because my really old order wasn't appearing in my shipped section. The game shipping in June turned out to be the DS games that is coming out then.

Hehe.

Indeed, by now most Atlus fans should realize that Atlus does necessarily = rare. I'd imagine only a select few would've had enough instinct to pick the true profitable Atlus titles without being brought down by the majority of Atlus games that have gone below retail.

I ordered in January and I chose the super saver shipping, it should be here this week.
