I don't think it's a joke. GS has been very quick to capitalize on demand by marking new items as used to be able to reap a higher profit. It's actually smart, retail exploitation.
Cubic ninja jumped from $4 to $40 overnight.
Xenoblade chronicles and metroid prime were $90 used at one point falling to $50 more recently.
Since they are exclusively carrying shulk I fully expect this to be the case.
I'll gladly be wrong and pay $15 but I don't wanna be right and pay $50+
 
Brag post. Found 4 wii fit trainers and a villager at a middle of nowhere Walmart. Also they had one of the white Sony gold headsets. Couldn't afford to snag that but did get village and a wft

Really wanted Villager but couldn't find it. Found wii fit trainer but only for trading since i really don't want it.

 
Yeah the Wii Fit trainer seems to be the most common of the 3 since no one wants that garbage...out of all the characters I dont really understand it being one of the first 12 but eh. I never saw a Villager but managed to get Marth. I checked 6 stores a couple days ago and only found some Wii Fit Trainers. Ordered 4 different Villagers from Walmarts that showed in stock online but all of them were cancelled saying it could not be located.

 
So I panicked tonight and bought/preordered any of the remaining figures that I don't have I could find online. I am so bummed the Villager is rare, I really want him! I might make a run into a bunch of stores this week and do a sweep a Navy Seal would be proud of just to make sure I can't find a Marth, Villager, or WFT. ARGH WHY DIDN'T I JUST BUY THE VILLAGER?!??!?!?
 
Some of these are going for $60-70 on eBay... crazy. I can't imagine Nintendo not making more. :whistle2:k

I only found Wii Fit trainer, guess I should have jumped on Villager and Marth. Oh well.

Thanks for the link! I managed to grab one for myself, I'll keep an eye out for an English one to add to my collection but I'm just going to keep telling myself that this Marth is stronger than the American ones because it has more honor :D/

 
The prices for Marth and Villager on Amazon Japan had briefly risen to around 2000 yen over the last couple days, but I see that they must have just received another shipment, because now they're back to MSRP.

 
Glad I grabbed Marth from the beginning. Was able to snag Wii Fit Trainer on Best Buy for shipping yesterday miraculously. Villager is in none of my local Wal-Marts, Best Buys, or Targets in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Going to have to hawk around online and wait until it appears for shipping again.

 
Someone mentioned it might have been a return... In which case I might have gotten the only one.

I'll update whether or not it gets canceled.
 
I just buy the ones I like. Not trying to collect them all. That said I preordered Marth and Samus from Amazon because I didn't know what kind of demand there was going to be for these things.

I just preordered Shulk from GS in case there is a mad rush on it.

Not Amiibos, but when I ordered BioShock stuff from them a long time ago it arrived pretty well packed. TRU ships a lot of toys/figurines so I imagine they (on the whole, individual experiences will vary) pack well for these items, or at the very least have the packing materials required to pack these things carefully.

 
Yep Lucario back in stock for preorder, also TRU has free shipping on video game preorders (which this qualifies for) AND they have them B1G1 40% off, so buying two figures cuts that stupid TRU markup. Preordered Zelda and Lucario.

Thanks to the hoopla, I took a trip down to my local Walmart and they had all three. I only bought Villager and Marth because I'm not a collector (and I blew a ton of my gaming budget on BF), but I'm psyched to have them. I carefully removed the Villager from his box and played with it last night. Kinda cool to see him level up so quickly. Marth is staying in box for now.

For those looking for wii fit trainer, the World of Nintendo store in NYC has 11 as of this morning. Check the 2nd floor if you don't see any more on the first floor.

Same, and three Meta Knights for free shipping (for my bro and friend). I really wasn't going to buy into all this hype. They just aren't very fun and/or useful in game. BUT, I love Nintendo and the figures themselves, so...whoops!

 
I went by Fred Meyer last night and they already had Zelda and Little Mac out from Wave 2. I don't want either so I passed, but still cool to see them.
 
Just preordered Zelda, Megaman and Metaknight from BB. Never preordered something from them before, we'll see how this goes...

 
Just a heads up to anyone that orders multiples from bb.com. I ordered 3 a week or so ago. They shipped two in one small box and folded the cardboard backing on the figures behind each other. The 3rd one was shipped in its own box and was fine but for those who dont open them, mine were folded in half basically. Sure you might can complain and try to reorder but mine was Marth which I havent seen in stock since. I was planning on opening them anyways but would not have been happy if I was going to keep them sealed.

Boo, had two Lucario in my cart and I tried to be cheap and use the Gyft GCs and they weren't working for some reason and now they're sold out.

 
Son of a gun, I had it in my cart this morning, didn't check out yet, went to check out just now and it only checked out the other item in my cart. Hopefully it'll come back. *Positive thinking*
 
I like how some sites are reporting nintendo is cutting supply, and other sites are reporting nintendo isn't cutting supply. Oy.
