Anime & Manga Thread Vol. 2: Za Warudo!!!

I like how the ReZero People said that S2 is in the books. I lold when I read that.

I don't think so. From what I remember it's source material is pretty old and has been finished for something like 20 years. I'm pretty sure the 24 episodes covered most everything. I don't think the series was ever revisited either.
Late reply. But yes. It pretty much adapted the entire source material.

Now only if that can happen to Guyver.

Guys, I'm really trying to like Clannad. I watched a few more today (at episode 18) and i'm not getting why you guys think this is good. It's not terrible and I don't hate it, but just terribly bland. The different arcs with the girls aren't clever, charming, touching or even coherently written. It has so many questions, potholes and red herrings. And some very odd/awkward exchanges.

With that said I'll probably stick with it at this point since I'm already 18 episodes invested.
you are still on the first season right?

that one isn't all that good until the very end (aka I think it should be getting better where you are at)

it's when it shifts focus to

Nagisa Furukawa

it's the second season that is good (way more focused with much better writing and 99.9% of people who watch the second season cry at some point so I think it has touching covered :p), but since the first season sets up a lot of stuff for the second season you have to suffer through it :p.

Yea I'll second this. Second season is better. I enjoyed the first season because the MC is funny and there's just some goofy/lol moments that I enjoyed. I also wasn't as cynical as I am now when I first watched it as it came out, which definitely makes a difference. :)

I know I'm being super cynical and probably analyzing it more than I should. Clannad is coming off the heels of rom/coms & harems I thought were done very well therefor I'm holding it up to a higher standard.

Orange [FIN] - Good ending. I liked that the show shifted from romance to friendship near the end. The hug Hagita gave made him the best character of the show. He gets very little screen time but when he's on he steals every scene.

Enjoy. It's a pretty good show. I'd say a solid 7/10. Some likable characters and it wraps up nicely.

Also have you seen Golden Time? I think it's only sub but it's a very good rom/com. Probably one of my favorites.

So I think I'm going to try out Seven Deadly Sins or Eden of the East. Anyone seen these?

once you get past the horrible sexual harassment early on, seven deadly sins is a very well done shonen show.

as for eden of the east I really need to finish it. still annoyed that funimation only got the rights for the opening for the first episode though (and only on the dvd release)

and no I did not get those confused.

funimation ended up getting a different song for the opening that happened to be japanese, while the original airing used an oasis song.

another series that got screwed over like that... speed grapher.

Pretty much what Zulu said. Seven Deadly Sins is really good (if you can tolerate the occasional groping that anime can't shake itself from anymore) and I also didn't quite finish Eden. I watched the series but never the movies. I get annoyed when what should be a series becomes a movie cuz screw movies. You can also watch 7 deadly sins on Netflix. That's actually how I found it haha. I hope season 2 shows up soon. Getting impatient.

That's how it is in the manga. lol. Only happens to Elizabeth though.

Word has it that Meliodas was never the type of person to do that until Elizabeth showed up. heh

yeah even so, it's really poorly done.

plus once you know meliodas' backstory it only gets that much more creepy @_@

in case you are curious.

He is a lot older than he looks and Elizabeth apparently looks just like his former love, whom timing wise Elizabeth would be roughly around the age that his daughter would be if he had a child with her. Yeah...

aside from that though the characters are pretty well rounded and done. and despite being an adaption of an ongoing manga the first season wraps up pretty well.

Dont read unless you want serious spoilters
Elizabeth is the reincarnation of his lover and is the reincarnation of the woman who convinced Meliodas to turn away from the Demons.

I went to watch Seven Deadly Sins last night on Netflix but it showed that I already watched the first episode. The strange thing is I totally dont remember watching it.

I've heard that Oasis song in the Eden op a million times. It's my wife's favorite band. All their songs are stuck in my head for all eternity.

Finished Mob Psycho. Great show and wicked animation. One of the best this season.
Master Reigen turns out to be real hero.

I finally finished Macross Delta. I'm still not sure what to think about it. I think I'd give it a 5/10 and if you're a Macross fan, you'll either subtract or add 1 to that number, depending on how suckered you are by the setting vs how annoyed you are that it sucks so much compared to Macross Frontier. The problem is that with Macross F, many characters were developed very well and had a lot of interactions with each other that illustrated their bonds. So when shit happened, you felt it. The overall plot and mystery were awesome and well done too. This story though....idol group instead of 1-2 singers, they have minimal depth except the two MC and even there not a huge amount of depth. They want to make it a love story, but there's nothing there to build that romance. It's dumb. Also, one of the MC has a heart-shaped boner stuck to their head. Sigh. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend Macross Delta to anyone unless you were a die-hard Macross fan and wanted some more backstory into the universe (which you do get).

i havent posted on here in a while .

hows everyone? ..enjoying anime ?

im not watching nothing thats airing only backlog

watching Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai currently. finish Shuffle last week

I need to get back to Mob Psycho sometime. I watched the first 3 episodes I think and they were ehhhh but I'm sort of interested in seeing where it's going.

Seven Deadly Sins also had Man With A Mission OP.

No database though

Macross F also had best girl Sheryl.

Watched the first 5 episodes of Seven Deadly Sins. I'm loving it, really fun show. But I see what you guys are talking about when it comes to the blatant sexual harassment. The dude has grabbed boob several times, sniffed her ass and took her underwear off within just a few episodes. But it's okay since she's an ignorant princess and it's playful comedy. I'll remember that next time I have the urge to finger goose a random girl.

Started Orange and am really enjoying it. A bit tired of the clueless character trope, but when it comes to youth, ignorance is bliss. Finished episode 6 and the twist at the end was unexpected based on how everything has played out so far.

Wow, they actually made the final Naruto vs. Sasuke battle epic without using music for about 3/4 of the fight. I figured they wouldn't be able to come close to how Ninja Storm 4 handled the battle, but they did a damn good job.

Finished Orange today. Solid story throughout, and a...simple (?) ending. Cute all around though had it gone any longer than 13 episodes I probably would have lost interest. I'm interested in the sequel movie, so I'll have to keep an eye out.

I felt really bad for Sawa, both in the future as the second choice of sorts, and in the changed past where he pushes aside his own feelings and does his best to make sure they end up together...poor guy.

Going to check out 91 Days next week now that it's wrapped up.

I agree, 13 epsiodes was enough for this story. I didn't know there was a movie coming out. What is it? Live action or a QVA?

"The film will be narrated from the viewpoint of Suwa, as he continues to support Kakeru and Naho's relationship. It will also feature an original story written by the series' original creator Ichigo Takano, which takes place after the events in the manga and TV anime. The tagline in the key visual reads, "Since that day, I've always wanted to show those two this future—." (Source: MAL News)"

Coming out in November apparently?

Alderamin [END] - It was okay. I think I've said this before but it started so strong and then it just became mediocre. Kinda reminds me of how I felt about Kiznaver last season. But if we get a season 2 I'll watch.

Tiger Mask 1 - I can already tell I'm gonna love this show. Awesome op and ed. The plot is so simple and it makes me feel like a kid watching cartoons on Saturday morning.

WWW.Working 1 - Wagnaria is back and it's a huge welcome. It's got the same humor and feel of the old show but all new characters. I'm gonna miss Popura and Satou, but not Inami. But this new one has a fun cast. Defiantly my chill relax comedy of the season. Which reminds me I need to finish up Amanchu.

Digimon Universe: AppliMonsters - Decent first episode with some good visuals, but the first episode feels way too much like an advertisement for the AppStore. Will be interesting to see where things go from here.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Season 2 - It somehow feels right for this show that for all the good Tekkadan did in Season 1, the world is even more chaotic than before. Also, the Barbatos Lupis is fuck ing badass.

Definitely think Alderamin is a cut above Kiznaiver. The plot isn't complete nonsense with random direction. I will definitely watch S2, but yeah, wasn't the sleeper hit we both thought it might be :\

I'll give Tiger Mask a whirl, it looked dumb, but maybe it isn't. Working I still need to see S3 before I dive into this.

Agreed. Looking solid so far.

Tiger Mask is a full on nostalgia trip. Defiantly not for everyone since it plays out like an action anime for kids during the 70's-80's. The plot moves fast with little to no exposition. The animation isn't anything to write home about either. But nostalgia's a powerful thing and it pulled me in.

That feels like a pass to me. Just not interested and was fine with the way the series ended. BTW - if you're looking for something to watch, check out Star Driver. It probably has a dub by now, but I never bother to check that so...

finally started Seven Deadly Sins.. they sure dont hide the ecchi parts :D .. also the fight scenes are quiet good

added more anime to the back log

I've only seen 4 on your list but I will say you wont be disappointed in Baccano, just give it a couple episodes to warm up and please watch the dub. I might be in the minority but I hated Watamote. Dropped it after 7 episodes beacause it went absolutely nowhere.

I have 3 episodes left in 7 Deadly Sins and i don't want it to end. Fortunately I hear season 2 is coming but I have no idea when. Anyone?

I was binging 4-6 episodes a night. I think my only complaint would be it's a little predictable at times esspically the outcomes of the fights. But there were a couple little surprises in the last few episodes.

How are the other Netflix animes?

If you enjoyed Magi, there's the Sinbad magical adventures or some shit that's fun to watch. Kuromukuro is also solid, though for some bizarre reason Netflix STILL doesn't have Season 2 up. Whatever deal they signed is absolute shit - but I guess it's better than having zero streaming. Whatever TV co is airing it clearly doesn't want competition...don't see why that matters in the U.S., but whatever. Japan is weird. Also, Ajin is interesting and season 2 is coming "soon".

I didn't watch Magi. Do I need to watch that before Sinbad?

I did watch some more Clannad. It's getting better but it took 20 episodes. I'll probably finish that and 7 Sins while I'm getting crushed by hurricane Mattew.

Seen Star Driver a couple years ago. Saw it when it first came out at the JCCC in Toronto. Hilarious stuff! Finished 91 Days today. Not bad, though not great. I'm not really a mafia story fan but this was definitely a good story.

Couldn't finish 91 Days. When your show is killing off characters and I don't care for any of these deaths at all, then you got a problem. That and the production was being held together with tape, since it looked atrocious. The just aired Yuri On Ice,had a pretty good premiere.Get rid of the jarring attempts at humor and obnoxious side-characters.

MSG 00 is the best thing on that list. I'd give Rail Wars a pass too...
good to know. maybe ill watch it after 7 deadly sins . but not sure if that or something SOL type.

so far they released these 4 episodes

https://myanimelist.net/anime/31722/Nanatsu_no_Taizai__Seisen_no_Shirushi

i got all these in one night :D

week or soo prior i DL more

i like to alternate ecchi/sol/ horror etc so i wont get stuck just watching one genre

I just saw the random Majestic Prince episode that came out god knows how many years after the sub-par series. It was terrible. Not only that, but to add insult to injury, at the end you have a robot with a straight up dong coming out of it (with a girl piloting it lol) and another with two giant testicles. I didn't realize the show went from a bad mech series to terrible comedy in one episode.

I watched Your Name today since I didn't attend the AX Premiere (was at a panel). Probably one of my absolute favorite anime films ever. Definitely recommend a watch and when it gets a home release, you bet I'm buying it. The feels man.

I didn't watch Magi. Do I need to watch that before Sinbad?
Not really imo. Sinbad just tells how Sinbad got to where he is before showing up in Magi.

Drifters is R-rated action schlock with no pretense of being anything else, and that's what makes it great! The opening scene was better than anything out of the terrible Kabanari. Popcorn show of the season .

This was a timely post as I was just wondering what Drifters was when I checked up on Crunchyroll. My eyes went to Haikyu S3 first tho...so it'll have to wait until later :D
