Atlanta CAG Thread, v2.0
Unless I just missed it, the one at Snellville is gone. I looked all over especially the glass case as that's where I saw it in the past at other stores. No clearance pricing on other games such as PoP and MKvDCU, etc.

Went by Snellville WM and there were still a handful of ACDC Track Packs on the $10 shelf. Around the corner in the glass case there are probably 20 more! There are also 3 copies of Lair for 10 (still haven't opened the copy I got awhile back, but I heard the updated control scheme makes the game really good). Some $10 games have red stickers on them so I scanned some other random games with red stickers and the following rang up ten: Lair (just to be sure), 360 Fracture (only saw 1 copy), PS2 SNK Collection vol 1 (2 copies), PS2 Singstar Amped (maybe Rocks, they look too similar). There are a few games in the glass case with red stickers like PS3 Jericho, DiRT, NBA07 and also The Club (can't remember which system, 360 I think). A few others. The meaning of these red stickers varies. At one point it meant ten bucks, at another point it meant half off, then it meant it was a "clearance" game although that clearance was usually 5 bucks off a game that was 20 bucks overpriced compared to other stores. Considering the other red sticker games rang up ten, they all might. That would make DiRT a steal and Jericho and The Club good value.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Snellville Target has one copy of Dark Sector for 5 and one copy of MLB Manager for 10. Great deal on Dark Sector and I just can't part with just 10 for MLB even though it's right up my alley. Reviewers killed it and I don't have time for a game which requires alotta time and is mediocre. Also two copies of MLB at Steve Reynolds for the same price.
I saw the GTA IV: Lost and the Damned behind the glass but it was only 1 copy at each location.

Were those 360 versions? I might get the opportunity to get down there this weekend and if there are really that many copies for $10, I'd make the drive. Thanks for any info.
I saw the GTA IV: Lost and the Damned behind the glass but it was only 1 copy at each location.
It's definitely gone then. I'm hoping to get that somewhere for 50% off, but I don't know if it'll last as it seems most locations didn't get that many in to begin with.

Thanks for any info.
Yeah, sorry, there was some discussion about it before so I got lazy and didn't specify that those are 360. The PS2 copies were on the $10 rack, but rang up full price when I tried to get one for another CAG. Just in case you're interested in Fracture, it's down past the glass case in the cheap racks on the same aisle at the opposite end from the $10 endcap.

Any big MST3K fans here? Looks like I have one extra ticket for the live MST/Cinematic Titanic show this Saturday night at Woodruff, if someone's interested. 4th ROW center!

Bonus: You get to sit next to me, Tybee, and Lady Tybee.

$40 PS3 Network Cards @ Wal-Mart on Acworth/Kennesaw border at the bottom of the 2 hills on 41. They're still marked as $50 on the rack but scan for $40. They ring up @ $50 @ the Wal-Mart futher up 41 in Acworth. Picked up 2 so I can d/l some RB content.

There were 3 or 4 copies of Bourne Ultimatum DVD for $2.46 at the Buckhead Target tonight. I grabbed one. No idea why they got the AS IS stickers, but I didn't mind snagging the deal. Back corner of the electronics dept. on the endcap. Also, three different girl-themed DS games for under $5.

Thrillville: Off the Rails PS2 was $5. Worth it?
1x Big Mutha Truckers GBA for $2.48
Dewey's Whatever Adventure for Wii for $7.48

i didnt know where to put this because i wanted to sale this locally
but i have a brand new flashed xbox 360 with 23 games for $275 obo
pm me for details

Lilburn Kroger at Five Forks off of Ronald Reagan has the Blowout DVDs half off. Only HDdvds are Waist Deep, Talk To me and Slither. They do have regular DVDs of Maverick and Hancock.

Going alone took a LOT of courage for me, but I'm making myself go out a bit to somewhere other than the supermarket. I had to kinda push a guy away from me at my car afterwards. ugh... But getting to meet all of them was worth it.

Wish I had known about that ticket, I would have loved to also see Tiki Island and get to meet you guys. East Meets Watts was fantastic, though!

Ah, cool! Well, I was actually a bit mixed up, and the Tybees were there on Friday night, not Saturday. I did find a friend to take my extra spot on Saturday, though, so all was well. Also, I preferred East Meets Watts, so you caught the best show (in my opinion).

Glad you made it to the show! I went to to the Q&A/signing at Criminal that afternoon, too, which was really fun and casual. My pics of the three events are here:

Trace did say they were coming back to um... dragoncon? Is that the local atl comic/anime/nerd convention?

Heh, "Trace did say"... I love name-dropping. :snooty voice: Oh yeah, I was talking with Mary Jo and she was all, "I love your purse!" and I was all, "oh thanks!!"

Speaking of Mary Jo, she's so freaking awesome. I can't tell you how jealous I am of her. When they didn't think anyone was looking, I saw her and her Hunny blow kisses to each other. And then when I had finally gotten away from mr kiss me and was driving out of the garage, I saw the two of them walking hand in hand. :sigh:
Trace did say they were coming back to um... dragoncon? Is that the local atl comic/anime/nerd convention?
That's an understatement. One of the largest gatherings of nerdom and just plain freakishness in North America. Everyone should experience it at least once in their life.

I know they've done live riffings at DragonCon before. If they show up again this year, I may have to go.

I've never actually gone to Dragoncon, but I work at Peachtree Center. So, some fellow co-workers and I always make our way down at some point during the day to take in all of the costumes. Some of the costumes are incredible, others you wish had a few more yards of spandex.

FYI, I was at the Edgewood Target last night. They had a bunch of clearance stuff, though nothing spectacularly priced yet. Here's what I could remember:

Xbox 360 Scene It: Box Office Smashes (with 4 wireless controllers) $28 (had around 10)
Xbox 360 Prince of Persia $42 (upwards of 10)
Xbox 360 Need for Speed Undercover $35 (upwards of 10)
Xbox 360 Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts $? (2 left)
PS3 Rockband 2 (game only) $42 (2 left)
PS3 Wheelman $? (2 left)
Wii Mario Strikers $25 (1 left)
Wii Shrek Party $? (1 left)
Wii Ironman $? (1 left)

I tried taking a picture w/ my crappy cellphone, but it's 3 years old and the camera sucks on it. So, I couldn't remember the prices of everything.
I wandered in once several years ago. I actually just went into the lobby and walked around for about 10 minutes. That was enough.
Heh, that sounds like me going to the doctor or dentist. I've got a slight fear of seeing them and have done just that in the past. Walked in to the waiting room. Sat down for a moment, got up and walked back out.

My phone is only about a year old, and the camera is probably just as bad.

well I haven't been in the home thread in a while so I thought I'd poke my head in and see what's up
I tried taking a picture w/ my crappy cellphone, but it's 3 years old and the camera sucks on it. I keep pretty close tabs on what's going on at Criminal, since I live near the store. I either saw it on their Twitter comments or their website-- I don't remember which.

Mary Jo was very nice. I chatted with her a bit at the record store, and met the aforementioned hubby, Ron. I was pretty amused when he called me by name on Saturday night when I said hi. Sweet couple, indeed. Ron also interviewed me (along with a few other people in line) after the Friday night show. Not sure what they're going to do with that video footage.

hahaha, another fellow Criminal Records-fan. I'm in there like 4-5 times a month and I live fairly close as well.

There's a ton of NFS:Undercover at the Edgewood Target. I was in there 2 days ago and there were like 10-15 on the clearance endcap (not behind glass). 34.99

The Walmart on Lawrenceville-
Suwanee Rd had a 360 quick charge for $20. I only saw one, but they may have more. It was in the fabric section of the store. They have moved the store clearance items to either fabrics or the aisle next to shoes.

Anyone looking for POGs at BBVs, here's some info: I was told at the GR on Sugarloaf that only 3 stores in her district received any. The GR on Dogwood off Ronald Reagan only has about 20 original xbox games with some really good ones like TOCA 3, MOH Europe and more. The GR on Riverside in Lawrenceville has about 20 360 games including R6V2, Army of 2, Crackdown, Dark Sector, and a few other good, but not highly sought after games. Don't know about the third or how big this disrict is.

Was just looking at Brandsmart for some things and saw game deals:
360
GH Metallica 28.88
Godfather 2 38.88

Wii
Pikmin 14.88
Mario Power Tennis 18.88
BiH Double Time 18.88

PSP
MLB2k9 14.88

PS2
Monster v Alien 18.88

Really tempted on GH:M. Might have to check out the song list.

I got pictures of that, btw, if you want 'em.

aaaaaahhhh!! i can't believe you alll were there on friday night also. I really wish i had known. I sat upstairs playing pokemon before the show, then after the show I hid in the ladies lounge till they came out and the line had time to go down a bit.

Clearly, I excel in social settings when I dont know anyone.

Thanks Jdawgg76 for the info. I grabbed RSV2 and Bully (been wanting to play these for a while). I think the 3rd store is the one on Grayson HWY (next to Kroger near the $1.50 show). They had mostly PS2 games, but nothing great. I did grab Fighting Evolution for the PS2 for $2.99.

They're the ugliest stores you'll ever see. It looks like a swap meet. I can't speak to their deals since I've only been in 2x and stayed only about 10 minutes each time. The entire store is an eyesore.
I've never actually been inside a brandsmart - are they worth it?
I'm with Neocisco. Stay far, far away. It's a terrifying place, and they rarely have any deals worth venturing in for.

Top 10 things that can happen on any given day at Brandsmart:

1. You could be "felt" up.

2. Be accused of "feeling someone up."

3. Have your toes run over or stepped on.

4. Have cuts or bruises from people bumping into you with boxes of crap.

5. Have your wallet or purse stolen.

6. Buy something to find out it's a "refurb" or someone's already opened it.

7. Question whether or not you really need to be in here once you see the security guards everywhere.

8. Realize you know more about everything in the store than the every single one of the employees.

9. Take you 30 minutes to an hour to return 1 item.

10. Take you 30 minutes to an hour to check out.

Brandsmart = COBY/GPX and other 3rd party knock-offs Distribution Center with a few legit manufacturers thrown in.

I would like to just ONCE get on their intercom and tell every customer "PLEASE PUT THE CHEAP CRAP DOWN AND SLOWLY WALK TO THE NEAREST EXIT!"

You forgot become disoriented from all the neon colored signs they have that you feel like you're on a bad acid trip.

Never been there mostly because of their location, but I sure love to pm their ads. Found another BB with PS2, Xbox and 360 POGs. It's the GR location at the south end of Snellville on 124. Decent selection, but no Cod4 or Halo3 or anything like that. 360 is mostly sports although there were some decent games in there. I did see a baseball game from 2002 I think for PS2.

Nice.

Brandsmart has produts in both extremes. They have products that are higher end than what is sold at Fry's and they also carry some of the cheapest electronics you would ever see sold at a store.

Brandsmart reminds me of the old "Crazy Eddie" stores that existed in the New York Tri-state area, electonics sold in a circus atmosphere.

Last night at Edgwood Target there were some cheap Wii games.

Crash Bandicoot Whatever x2 for $5
Iron Man 1x for $13
Hannah Montana World Violation Tour 2x for $13

I didn't buy any of them.

I will never, ever set foot in one of these godawful stores again. So, i went there looking to buy an LCD tv in April. When things go on clearance (TVs) there, you absolutely cannot BEAT the price. So, i go in there looking for Sony W and Z series tvs. They were clearancing the 40" Ws for 699(!) each! I couldn't believe my luck, just the other day these were $999 at Brandsmart....so, I tell the salesman i'll take TWO of them (since i had budgeted 1600 max for a new TV). He looks them up in inventory, and it shows they have 8 in stock (saw this with my own eyes too). So I pay, get my receipt/ticket, and go around to the pickup dock.

Guy at the pickup doc says it'll take him 10 mins to pull 'em, so I say "no worries" and sit there. And sit there. And sit there. 25 minutes passes. Finally the guy comes back and says "oh, it must be up at the front of the warehouse. We keep stuff up there a lot of times. Sorry, it'll be another 10 minutes." I say "ok, uh, no problem."

So another 10 minutes pass. Then I know something is wrong, because here comes the salesman that sold me both TVs.

Him: "Uh, I don't know how to tell you this, but it appears we don't have ANY of those TVs left in stock."

Me: "But you said you had 8, and I saw 8. I can understand inventory systems not being accurate and being off by a couple or three units, but EIGHT?"

Him: "Yeah, I don't know, sorry man."

Me: "Well, that's cool, just give me that ticket back and i'll go to the cashier and get my money back."

This is where the trouble started. Instead of giving me back my ticket as I had asked, the salesman (who was obviously either in trouble with his sales or just didn't want to lose the commission) sat there and tried to sell me on another model. Right there off the freakin' dock.

Him: "How about a V-series instead? It's a nicer TV than the W (which is total BS, it's not). We'll knock 100 off the price for your trouble."

Me: "So, instead of getting two W series TVs, which is what i came looking for, for 699 each I get one V series TV for 1099? How is that even remotely equal or worth it?"

Him: "Yeaaaaah....i see your point. I tell you what, if you want a W, how about our W display models? We have 5 of those! We'll knock 100 off each!"
Me: "So, NOW you want to sell me a floor model W that's been on 12 hours or more for the better part of a year and been touched by everyone that's walked by it? hahah, no thanks. GIVE ME MY TICKET"

Him: "Are you sure there's nothing else you want????"

This goes on for another 5-10 minutes. He then started telling me about LGs and Sharps or Samsungs that were "just as good" all the while I keep demanding he give me my ticket. After this I started to get really angry and got rather abusive. The security guard walked over, bent down (i'm really short) and got RIGHT in my face and asked me rather intimidatingly "SIR IS THERE A PROBLEM????"

The salesman is freaking out now, and is stammering "oh, no, there's no problem" but I shout over him in the guard's face "YEAH THERE'S A F*CKING GODDAMN PROBLEM. THIS JACKASS REFUSES TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK". As soon as I said that, he signed something, handed over my ticket, and told me to go to the returns dept. So i take the ticket, thank him in a thanks-but-not-really manner, and head to returns.

Lady at returns (after a 10 minute wait): "Oh, im sorry, you need customer service". Goddamnit.

So, i walk 1 room over to Customer Service. "Oh, im sorry, I dont know why she said that, you need returns". Seriously, wtf.

So i go back. This time someone different handles my issue, and she says "wait right here, ill go get the salesman for approval". THEY HAD TO GO GET THE GUY TO FACE ME AGAIN THAT I JUST SPENT 20 MINUTES SCREAMING AT.

The guy comes in, doesn't look at me at all, signs something, and mutters "I'm terribly sorry". After which, I had to go to go BACK to the registers to get my refund. My lunch hour tv-pickup has now turned into 1 hour and 45 minutes away from my desk, and I have no TV.

I ended up getting a nice deal on a Z series at fry's later that evening, so it turned out well in the end.

Wow, that is a horrible story! I can't believe anyone could think they could salvage a sale after a major inventory error like that. Purchasing at any electronics store, where the salespeople are commisioned, always leaves a bad impression on me.

Went into the EB on East West connector yesterday. Its in the Target plaza kinda diagonally across from the hospital. They had a new Store and Assistant Manager in there (Danny and Thomas both apparantly moved on to different locations). Absolute nightmare, trying to trade stuff in. They were nice enough, but the manager kept screwing up my trade ins and then my purchase.

What was worse was that they were trying to charge me a fee for printing up their generic case art. (was trading in some of the prepack ps2 games from BBGR) I have NEVER been charged for that in the past. This past week, I've also traded in to Acworth and Arbor Place Mall. No one even mentioned requiring case art, and I look over my receipts, there was no such fee for printing up GS generic case art.

I dont see myself going back out there again anytime soon. I'm tempted to call brian (dm), but like I said, they were nice and the manager "waived the fee this one time." So instead, I'm just kvetching in here.

^ Is this the GS right by the 5 guys Burgers and Fries? I called there with a question about the movie ticket promo yesterday and the guy that answered seemed bothered with my call and unsure of the answer. I mean he was nice enough I guess but now it makes sense if he was one of these two. I just knew that he wasn't one of the usual voices to answer. Kinda' sucks as that GS tended to have better staff members most of the time. Anybody have any advice as to another GS with mostly decent staffing? (I live just inside 285 between S. Atlanta and Paces Ferry but don't mind a bit of driving.)

What's the best place around Decatur to trade in CDs? Mulling Decatur CD, Wuxtry, Book Nook. Don't necessarily need cash, as there's a lot of stuff I'm looking to pick up so store credit would be okay.

Just got back from the beach, glad to see I didn't miss out on anything big like "OMG. I gotta get to Target for XYZ!" etc. Nice quiet week.

There's a few unmarked Lips bundles @ the Target on Dallas Hwy in Marietta ringing up @ 24.98. Also about 15+ Smackdown/Raw 09 for the 360 at the same price (waiting on one more drop on this down to 12.48 to snag one).

I dunno how high demand this is so I wanna avoid any lurkers getting this deal, but I found what seems to be a killer deal today while out getting parts to install a newish dishwasher.

SOCOM Confrontation bundle with bluetooth headset $10 (3 or 4 left)
Also saw stuff that seemed to be good deals:
PS2/PS3 Rock Band 2 Drum Set $50
Wii Rock Band 2 Drum Set $50

If I find out that it's nothing special I'll post the location, until then PM for location. I know SOCOM came out with poor reviews, but I've heard that patches made it alot better, plus the headset is supposedly top notch.

you guys continue to impress me - I spend so little time in brick and mortars and when I do I never see any deals to speak of =/ I feel shamed by my lack of deal contributions
