I will never, ever set foot in one of these godawful stores again. So, i went there looking to buy an LCD tv in April. When things go on clearance (TVs) there, you absolutely cannot BEAT the price. So, i go in there looking for Sony W and Z series tvs. They were clearancing the 40" Ws for 699(!) each! I couldn't believe my luck, just the other day these were $999 at Brandsmart....so, I tell the salesman i'll take TWO of them (since i had budgeted 1600 max for a new TV). He looks them up in inventory, and it shows they have 8 in stock (saw this with my own eyes too). So I pay, get my receipt/ticket, and go around to the pickup dock.
Guy at the pickup doc says it'll take him 10 mins to pull 'em, so I say "no worries" and sit there. And sit there. And sit there. 25 minutes passes. Finally the guy comes back and says "oh, it must be up at the front of the warehouse. We keep stuff up there a lot of times. Sorry, it'll be another 10 minutes." I say "ok, uh, no problem."
So another 10 minutes pass. Then I know something is wrong, because here comes the salesman that sold me both TVs.
Him: "Uh, I don't know how to tell you this, but it appears we don't have ANY of those TVs left in stock."
Me: "But you said you had 8, and I saw 8. I can understand inventory systems not being accurate and being off by a couple or three units, but EIGHT?"
Him: "Yeah, I don't know, sorry man."
Me: "Well, that's cool, just give me that ticket back and i'll go to the cashier and get my money back."
This is where the trouble started. Instead of giving me back my ticket as I had asked, the salesman (who was obviously either in trouble with his sales or just didn't want to lose the commission) sat there and tried to sell me on another model. Right there off the freakin' dock.
Him: "How about a V-series instead? It's a nicer TV than the W (which is total BS, it's not). We'll knock 100 off the price for your trouble."
Me: "So, instead of getting two W series TVs, which is what i came looking for, for 699 each I get one V series TV for 1099? How is that even remotely equal or worth it?"
Him: "Yeaaaaah....i see your point. I tell you what, if you want a W, how about our W display models? We have 5 of those! We'll knock 100 off each!"
Me: "So, NOW you want to sell me a floor model W that's been on 12 hours or more for the better part of a year and been touched by everyone that's walked by it? hahah, no thanks. GIVE ME MY TICKET"
Him: "Are you sure there's nothing else you want????"
This goes on for another 5-10 minutes. He then started telling me about LGs and Sharps or Samsungs that were "just as good" all the while I keep demanding he give me my ticket. After this I started to get really angry and got rather abusive. The security guard walked over, bent down (i'm really short) and got RIGHT in my face and asked me rather intimidatingly "SIR IS THERE A PROBLEM????"
The salesman is freaking out now, and is stammering "oh, no, there's no problem" but I shout over him in the guard's face "YEAH THERE'S A F*CKING GODDAMN PROBLEM. THIS JACKASS REFUSES TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK". As soon as I said that, he signed something, handed over my ticket, and told me to go to the returns dept. So i take the ticket, thank him in a thanks-but-not-really manner, and head to returns.
Lady at returns (after a 10 minute wait): "Oh, im sorry, you need customer service". Goddamnit.
So, i walk 1 room over to Customer Service. "Oh, im sorry, I dont know why she said that, you need returns". Seriously, wtf.
So i go back. This time someone different handles my issue, and she says "wait right here, ill go get the salesman for approval". THEY HAD TO GO GET THE GUY TO FACE ME AGAIN THAT I JUST SPENT 20 MINUTES SCREAMING AT.
The guy comes in, doesn't look at me at all, signs something, and mutters "I'm terribly sorry". After which, I had to go to go BACK to the registers to get my refund. My lunch hour tv-pickup has now turned into 1 hour and 45 minutes away from my desk, and I have no TV.
I ended up getting a nice deal on a Z series at fry's later that evening, so it turned out well in the end.
