To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.

Well, not at all to my surprise, I didn't find a frontlane R&C today at the one Best Buy that I went to ;).

However, I did see WipeOut Pure up there at $9.99. That is a new one for the OP (though it doesn't look like that has been updated in a while). Well, anyway, it is new to me.

I was still able to use a GamePro coupon today. This time the cashier noticed it was expired but I said "I was told it would work anyway". So she tried it and lo and behold, it worked ;). This will get harder now that it isn't even June any more. Hopefully we get new coupons soon and R&C starts showing up more places!
Well, I didn't do it. :)

I took a couple of pictures of it with my PSP camera (only digital camera I have, sorry) just to prove it. Yes I know the picture quality kinda sucks. :p

Yeah, the UPC sticker on the back is labeled 6-5851760423-7, and yeah my receipt is labeled "60423". So not sure if my store goofed and mislabeld it, or if they just arent selling enough copies of this game or whatever.. I can go back after work next week and see if there are any more copies if anyone is interested..
I was at Bustbuy tonight to mourn the loss of the GGC. There were so many left. What a waste:

Look what I found:

errr....the game not the cat.

I was shocked to see a Ratchet & Clank in the front lane games tagged at $9.99 I had the regular version in the plastic anti-theft case scanned it came up $40.

Way to go Sinistar d(^_^)b

2 new to the list

Clock Tower 3 (PS2) - $9.99

Matrix - Path of Neo (PS2) - $9.99 - apparently it supports full widescreen unlike the Xbox version - whats up with that?

Wow that Ratchet is too good to be true, I just bought a copy ay Crazy for 40 today, lol.

Are the 9.99 games eventually going to drop to 1.99 or are they stuck at that price?

Um, you haven't been paying attention have you?

Frontlane games are tagged with special UPC stickers (they are all the same) and are packaged up for selling near the registers by some third party. You generally will see the same set of games with the same types of stickers in places like Sears and Kmart. I'm very surprised to see R&C in there as it is usually a dumping ground for older titles that aren't selling any more. (Now if only I can find one!).

Anyway, no, they won't drop to $1.99. I'm not even sure where you came up with the notion that they might. Regular Best Buy clearances don't even work that way (and this is NOT a clearance). (Yes, they did have some $1.99 clearance games but they generally weren't $9.99 before that).

As for the GGC, meh - I had one from several months back and never had an occasion to use it. The GamePro coupons are so much more useful.

Yeah I haven't been paying attention, but when I went to BB over the weekend they had several game tag divider things for PS2 that said "PS2 9.99 games" and the price was 1.99. I asked a guy working there and he said they might become 1.99 or something but he wasn't sure. That's why I was wondering. Thanks for clearing it up, I'm going back to my cave.

I love cats. I have 6 :hot: To stay On topic. Great job on the Finds. I might head out today to see. During the week though I got: Loco Roco, ATV Fury and Used athe 5$ off coupn and gt Jaxter for 9.99.
i h8 cats
same here. i started hating it when those stray cats around my neighborhood shit on my lawn, ruin my plants and flowers. i think one of the store near me, got a cat and shit on my place also. i remember seeing like 4 or 5 stray cats sleeping in front of my next door neighbor's outdoor garage. sorry about the off-topic.

free cat poop in your garden and trampled flowers with the purchase of any platform game is not a cheap ass deal at all!

Same here ;). Cats aren't half as bad as the people and their dogs who take walks and dump all over your yard (who knows if it is the person or the dog it's such a damn mess :bomb:).

But, back on topic... Wait! Is Loco Roco a frontlane game as well?? WTF? I think I'll just wait till all the good PSP games become frontlane fodder!

FYI, I went the 2nd closest BB to me on Friday (Ahwatukee, AZ) and the R&C there was still $40. The only $9.99 games they had was Gunpey.

I'll probably go back to the Chandler Mall store tomorrow after work and see if there are any more R&C's in the clearance section.

It's best to scan the games at the price checker thing. Most media personel at BB are idiots and don't bother to change the tags. R&C may say $39.99 but might be $9.99. I havent checked myself but just sayin'

Don't bother, I checked yesterday afternoon and it didn't have any.

The game in the shipper's display will have a new UPC sticker, so the BB inventory will consider it a different item.

American Conquest: Divided Nation (PC) is down to $10 at BB. Bad reviews on Amazon though. "So then why did you bother posting this, jackass?" I dont know, and dont call me jackass, you buttmunch.

Can anyone confirm yet that Dark Cloud 2 is a front row game for $9.99 ?

Thanks.. saw it posted here one time but no one else confirmed it...

Wait! Is Loco Roco a frontlane game as well?? WTF? I think I'll just wait till all the good PSP games become frontlane fodder! ]

I was suprised to see it as well. Bold 9.99 sticker on the game near the registers in Southfield MI. I saw it at Gamestop for $29.99 Im sure as anything its YMMV. Id love to find rachet though...:bouncy:

Didn't see LocoRoco or R&C size matters... those were regular price in Cumberland. But I did pick up Yakuza (9.99 frontlane) and left behind Demon Stone Forgotton Realms xbox (4.99 frontlane).

Frontlane Yakuza too? Wha? My BB's stink big time.

These frontlane games are from a different vendor, so that means some game store out there is offloading their Yakuzas and PSP games to the frontlane vendor, who is in turn dropping them off at BBs or TRUs... not MY BBs or TRUs though.

I'm going to go check if Yakuza is at my best buy. I got that game at release and loved it...ended up trading it away though.

I'd love to get it again for $10!

Price checkers at Best Buy :whistle2:k... Never seen one (and a brand new spankin' Best Buy just opened near me - incidentally, it is devoid of a frontlane game display ).

There's no need to price check though - if it is the regular game with its original UPC then it will be $39.99. If it has a white sticker over the UPC (whether it has the $9.99 tag on the front or not) it is likely to be $9.99.

Went tonight and found at the same one I found Roco Loco: (southfield MI)

Pacman Rally PSP 9.99
Rogue Trooper XBOX 4.99
Indigo Prophecy PS2 $9.99

Id be all over indigo Prophecy and Rogue trooper, But I have'em both for XBOX.

I saw "Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter" (PS2) on the frontlane for $9.99 the other day. I know the game is very common online, but I haven't seen a new one in a store in a while. Months later I still can't find a $9.99 "Dungeon Seige" (PSP) anywhere though!

I can confirm Tales of Symphonia (Players Choice) - marked at 9.99 but the UPC sticker didn't ring up so the girl scratched it off and ran the regular UPC. It came up at 1.99! WOOT!

Also picked up True Crime Streets of LA, Rogue Ops, and State of Emergency (GH) for 9.99 each, all PS2.

Is there a current $5 off coupon anywhere besides the gamer gift card that requires $19.99 or more? The ones at the beggining of this link are expired.

Though they are expired, they still work. I bought a few $5 PSP games yesterday at a couple different stores. One worker didn't notice they were expired, the other one noticed but still let me use it.
Total Overdose for the PS2 should be on the list for $9.99 as well.
It rings up as "M-rated frontlane game."
True, I saw that when I was there Friday at 9.99 as well to confirm. I bought it from gogamer.com a couple of weeks ago when it was part of the 48 hour madness.

Hmm, I may finally bite on Primal, especially if I can get it for $5. I remember playing a demo of it years ago, and I thought it was pretty good, just not good enough to pay full price for back at the time.
Ratchet and Clank for PSP is 10.00?!?

EDIT: After reading the last couple pages I see I am a week late on that one...blah.
Hopefully they'll start appearing more frequently. All of the ones I saw in the area are still $40.

Tonight I found 1 copy each of:

Loco Roco - $9.99
Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast - $9.99

Made 2 trips with 2 expired coupons to the same cashier who manually entered the $5 off. A lady in line behind me asked where I got the coupon and I said "in an e-mail."
Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast - $9.99
Which system?

And hey, OP. Can I not be trusted? Yakuza. $9.99 =P

Wait, are they no longer automatic now? That is disappointing. I don't think I'd be able to pass off expired coupons that also require manual adjustment . I used one after they expired only because it still worked automatically (she said she would try it and it worked).

I wanted to head to Best Buy tonight when I was out adjusting my CC receipts but the kids had other plans. Oh well, I'll look for R&C some other day.

Gwen (good to see you active again on CAG!), I assume the Outrun is for PSP. That seems to be the going rate for it now (also at EB/GS and Gamecrazy).
Gwen (good to see you active again on CAG!)
You just wait. I'm gonna take off again at any minute just to confuse the locals.

That's my assumption, and for similar reasons. If however his BB has Outrun c2c 2006 on Xbox for $10 new, he gots a steal.

He also had a lot of trouble scanning my RZ keychain tag and the games as well and said his scanner gun must be "messed up."
