Anybody else's Blockbusters using glue on the blu-ray inserts to stick them to the blue paper that they slip in those black DVD cases?

yup, and its annoying because the glue stains the inserts. Anyhow, today I picked up

Gandhi
Young Victoria
The Runaways
An Education
Shutter Island
Star Trek
Step Brothers
Inglorious Basterds
Up in the Air
A Single Man

I wanted Hot Fuzz, but it was marked 12.99

Stopped by the store on S 27th and Morgan in Milwaukee, WI and picked up:
Quantum of Solace
Red Cliff (Part I)
Red Cliff (Part II)
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
The Wrestler (as a filler since they didn't have anything else I wanted)

Shorewood store on Oakland north of Capitol didn't have anything I was looking for at all, including titles I may have consider: Inglorious Basterds, Wanted, Speed Racer, Star Trek, Hurt Locker.

Why in the hell is Blockbuster using DVD cases for them anyway? Surely they get a Blu-ray case with every Blu-ray title they buy... they should just stick them back in the Blu-ray cases.

Has anyone found Zodiac? That movie is pretty awesome. Saw it in theaters, liked it a whole bunch, and everytime I watch it on dvd I enjoy it.

Only saw it at 1 store and bought it. I like this movie also. I know a lot of people, including my film professor who hated this film. When I told him about the extended edition that's like 30 minutes longer, he groaned and said something along the lines of "that movie does not need to be any longer..."

I also have it on HD DVD (when Blockbuster.com liquidated all their HDDVDs).
I am looking at replacement case. Does anyone know there is a difference between Premium
Blu-ray Cases and Viva Elite Blu-ray Cases from disk maker? http://www.discmakers.com/shop/parentgroups/BLURAYCASES.asp

Another question, some of my blu ray are missing cover art, where can I find and and where is the best place to print it off?
I emailed them about it:

Norman,

Thank you for your inquiry. The Premium and Elite Blu-ray cases are definitely very similar, with just a few differences.

The Elites are made with slightly thicker, heavier plastic, and they are therefore slightly larger in all dimensions. This leads to their feeling more substantial than the Premiums and most people find this difference to be worth the additional price.

If you have any more questions at all about what we offer here at Discmakers, feel free to either contact me by phone at 1-800-468-9353 extension 4545 or just shoot me an email. I'm here to help!

I assume it is because their security devices for their cases are only made for DVD cases. It is probably cheaper to just use DVD cases than develop a security feature for a blu-ray case.

My haul so far:

Wolverine
1408
Terminator Salvation
Twilight
Twilight Part II
Star Trek
Dogma
Ninja Assassin
Inglorious Basterds
The Green Zone
Informers
Wolfman (X2)
Harold & Kumar II
Angels & Demons
The Crazies
The Wrestler
Friday The 13th (original)
Shutter Island
Taken

What security devices? The cases are completely empty; you take them up to the employee at the counter who retrieves the discs and places them in there.

It depends on the Blockbuster. Most of the ones I have gone to keep them inside the display cases. A few keep them behind the counter as you mentioned.

The Blockbuster that kept the blus behind the counter I asked the employee why they did that since I had never seen that before. She said some guy kept stealing them from the display cases because he had his own security case opener. To prevent that, they started storing them behind the counter.

I worked at Blockbuster for a couple years and I've been to probably 20 different one's here in Arizona and California and they all use the security locks. I've never been to one that didn't use that system.

What I picked up
Year One *Brother's Choice*
Tropic Thunder *Brother's Choice*
10,000 BC *Brother's Choice*
(500) Days of Summer
The Road
Revolutionary Road
Ponyo
Gran Torino
Coraline
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

PMd you about Ponyo.
Went back and got 5 more movies
The Heartbreak Kid
Ponyo *For Trade*
Up in the Air
Shutter Island
Brokeback Mountain
I picked up Dumb and Dumber, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, She's Out of My League, Zombieland and Gran Torino. I was really hoping for Scott Pilgrim but they didn't have it. If anyone finds an extra copy and might be willing to trade, let me know.

I went to another BBV and bought:

(500) Days of Summer
Star Trek
9
The Green Zone
Observe and Report
Sunshine Cleaning
Terminator Salvation
Unthinkable
We Are Marshall
Is Anybody There?

So I'm up to 25 BRs in the past 3 days. The manager at this store mentioned that they were receiving a new shipment of Blurays this weekend (over 1000). He didn't know any of the titles, though.

Asked if they could convert some rentals and received a response to the negative.

Still wound up with 10 more movies for my round 3 of the movie binge:
Away We Go
Good Night and Good Luck
Green Zone
Nine
Public Enemies
The Signal
Sleep Dealer
Stranded (a DVD randomly mixed in the BD's, but looked interesting)
Valkyrie
Year One

Bought 25 blu rays total during this awesome sale. I'm sure that it was just a fluke, but I got the Lord of the Rings Trilogy as part of the sale. All three discs were in perfect condition. Guess no one rented them. Sales lady laughed when I picked them up, said she just put them up for sale 2 minutes before I walked into the store.

Hot damn. Lucky

Went last week and picked up Scott Pilgrim, GI Joe, Underworld - Rise of the Lycans, Star Trek and something else that currently escapes me.

ill try my luck later for that LOTR trilogy. cross finger
I went to get 5 today, and Blockbuster does not accept GIFT CARDS "right now". I was a bit upset....so I got nothing.
They stopped this on 4/11 IIRC and I still had about $8 left on one. However, they said it's possible they could start taking them again (note grain of salt here) at some point in the future. So I haven't tossed my GC yet.

One of the stores I went to also had a sale marking down some Blu Rays to 5.99 ending today, which qualified them for this sale. The only one of note was Devil.

Went to my local BBV picked up 5

Red Cliff pt 1
Red Cliff pt 2
Chocolate
I love you, Man
Tropic Thunder

Thanks to the OP for bringing this to my attention wanted red cliff for a while and they hit a price I wanted to pay ^_^
So after spending like $120 bones for 25 blu rays and cases for it, I would whole heartly welcome this sale to come back again! :)
Funny how Push got that non-standard, bulky, squared corners blu-ray case. Must be the least favorite of the ones you got for it to have been treated so poorly.

I'm probably going to head back to BBV this weekend to see if they get some new movies in, but I've been happy with the deals I got so far:

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
Capitalism
Dan in Real Life
The Ghost Writer
Moon
Repomen
Running with Scissors
Shutter Island
Slumdog Millionaire
Up in the Air
Wolfman
Zombieland
Dawn of the Dead
Drag Me to Hell
Paranormal Activity

I need to stop buying movies though, running out of space!
most if not all stores should have received about 900 pieces of pre viewed movies today. the movies received today all fall under 1 sku or part number and will be priced at $4.99 today, $3.99 tomorrow, $2.99 on sun and $.99 on monday.

select stores (few and far between i think) will receive blu ray that start at $5.99 and go down progessively each day.

no stores are getting backfills of games to add to the sale. the only additions will be rental conversions that happen every sunday or at least almost every sunday.

The part # for blu rays are 328830 and they will be $1.99 on Monday.

They come just like any other previewed movie and they are stock leftover from closing stores. They are not sleeve only like closing stores had.
taken from the games thread from yesterday. so we are already on day 2.

Has anyone found Goodfellas at $9.99? There is a copy at my BBV, but it is $12.99. Even had the guy ring it up and check. I noticed this movie was included in the sale list in the first post. Thanks.

My store had two separate tables of 5 for 20 and 3.99 blus. I picked up four of the 3.99 blus Expendables, 2012, and Red Cliff parts 1&2. I wanted to grab Robin Hood but some guy snatched it as I was reaching for it. I'll head back Monday and see if they dropped to 99 cents. If so I'm going to return all of mine and re-buy them.

You cant return it anymore, just exchange if there's problem on the item that you bought.

damn. anyone know if any of the Tucson stores are up and running with $3.99 blus'??? I don't wanna go out and waste $10,000 in gas if it's a bust

I grabbed a few today - the kid got Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Alice in Wonderland, the wife got Twilight and I got Scott Pilgrim and Zombieland. I could have picked up another set - there were a few others I would like, but I'm trying not to get into the habit of upgrading DVDs to Blu Rays when they're movies I don't watch that often.

Picked up 15 more, couldn't resist.

Resident Evil - Afterlife
Piranha
The Other Guys
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Twilight - Eclipse
Unthinkable
Green Zone
Rudy
Donnie Brasco
Land of the Dead
Elf
The Strangers
The Thing
Deliverance
Million Dollar Baby
