Man, I'm hoping to god this is a joke review...
Maybe my sarcasm meter is broken, but this has to be the worst review I've ever seen lol

Yeah that guy has another youtube acount, he did Dan mania and Sagat mania one day and ranted about lag and what. Pretty amusing person.

Finally got to mod/customize one of my own TE sticks....

Special thanks to arthong for the hookup...
Nice Template MM. I was thinking bout using that one too.
So does Art make clear dust covers now?
I need to get in on that.
Franco B makes dustwashers out of anything. He also sells button templates and a bunch of other stuff. His stuff is absolutely dead-on perfect (I've ordered from him). Check it out HERE.

I was just wondering what is the difference in all the brands for the sticks and buttons? What is different about them. I tried to do a google search but all I could find was ordering parts.

Could you narrow it down some, what brands or sticks are you interested in? Or do you just want to know about top in parts used in general? You will be able to find a lot of info from guides already posted at http://forums.shoryuken.com/ just check under the Tech Talk group.

Ordered from Art. He's earned my business. He has a bunch of new dust covers too(including the arrow one from s-kill blog of the LE stick).

Plus I don't know what to do with 1/2 the stuff Franco B sells.

Hey guys I am looking for a beginner stick for the PC (I say beginner because I want cheap and it wont be used that often). Something that will work with Mame and SF4 for the PC. What do you guys suggest?

I don't have the tools to build my own or I would consider it.

I'm just wanting to know what is different in the brands for the buttons and the stick other then just the name. Why do some perfer Sanwa to Seimitsu or the other way around.

As for the two sites you both gave thanks. I will read them later on when I have more time after work as the one is a lot to read. Thanks.

The slagcoin article goes into great detail of why the two differ, down to a measurement of the engage and throw. If that's not enough, two seconds on Google gives me this link: SRK Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

It really comes down to personal preference though - and to figure that out, you'd just have to try both.

Here are my 2 recommendations based on price and quality
1) Mad Catz Standard Edition FightStick for PS3 ($70)
It is a great stick to learn on, is fully customizable down the road, and works on both PS3 and PC. You could get the 360 version for another $10 but if you are using it for PC, save the $10.
2) Hori EX2 for 360 ($60)
This is a good stick to learn on but the parts are better on the FightStick above and the EX2 is a pain the in ass to mod. Since it is a 360 stick, it works just fine on PC.

just got my TE and man it looks so much nicer in person!
never thought id be able to get one this soon but man im so excited and im sure youve heard this many times but damn MM this stick is AWESOME
Anyone know how to take out the screw on the TE. I plan on changing the artwork
3mm metric hex key
You can get a hex key set black/yellow stanley brand for $6 at walmart (a little bigger than a pocket knife)

Then use a flat head to remove the old art, peels off really easy
be careful not to scratch the old art with the flat head

I have to caution you about getting either of those particular sticks exclusively for PC use. The PS3 version of the Madcatz SF4 sticks has issues working with some computers, so it's a bit risky. The same thing with the Hori EX2. (Yet it's true that most 360 controllers work automatically with Windows.)

My SE fightstick arrive the other day and my MC Cthulhu and Imp boards arrived today!

Question for you eastx. I stopped in Radio Shack for some 30AWG wire and like you mentioned in your guide they didn't have any. I picked up some 22AWM, but I wasn't sure if I could use it or not. Could I possibly use the wire from an IDE cable?

for those who have bought arthongs plexi covers for your hrap cases. How thick is it? Because the way my stick is mounted in my t5 case it sits at 23mm from base of plate to the beginning of the ball thread. ANd it really cant be raise anymore. So wondering how much it would throw the length off.
thanks

Sorry for the late response.

Do not use 22 AWG wire! It's not impossible, but it will make the job so much harder. If you have other local Radio Shacks, you might look for 30 AWG there... Otherwise try to get 26 AWG or at least 24 AWG solid wire (not stranded). The IDE thing might work but it's best to have an ample supply of wire in case you need it.

OK all. Question: With the crazy Amazon trade-in code, I'm fixing to get me a new stick. Do I throw down on the Mad Catz TE, or the Real Arcade Pro EX., or do I order the wireless Hori Tekken bundle?

Opinions please!

Don't buy the HRAP EX. It's not common ground so you can't easily dual mod it work with other systems. Also it's ugly compared to the TE.

The wireless Tekken bundle isn't a bad buy if you don't mind installing real arcade parts later. I would personally enjoy an arcade-quality wireless stick, and it's been proven that modern wireless controllers can be lag-free. But we don't know for sure that the Tekken stick will be lagless or not.

does anyone know if the limited edition te sticks that will be at comic con be in limited supply? i only have tickets for sunday and i don't wanna come home empty handed. i'm just hoping they're as "limited" as the original te sticks were meant to be lol.

It's just the educated guess that a wireless arcade stick bundled with a game for $150 does not contain arcade parts, LostRoad. If it had arcade parts, they would certainly use that as a selling point.

I'm toying with the idea of modding an old Dreamcast Agetec stick for 360, probably to either give away as a gift or sell. Since it wouldn't be for me, it got me to thinking of people's preferences in a modern joystick--I'd like to make the stick as valuable as possible.

So I put together some questions, for the enjoyment of the troops and the amusement of the children. I appreciate any feedback that is given. If you don't see an answer you like, make one up.

If this bothers you, please ignore it and go back to looking at sexy joystick undercarriages.

Question #1:

Should I:

A. Rip out the DC guts entirely (and patch up the VMU slot)
B. Leave the DC guts and have two output options
C. Leave it as a Dreamcast stick, as nature intended for playing Project Justice

Question #2:

Should the USB output be:

A. A full-length cable
B. A female output jack

Question #3:

It only has 7 buttons by default. Should I add more buttons:

A. On the main layout
B. On the upper right edge, like many custom sticks
C. 7 buttons is plenty, no one uses the guide button

Question #4:

It has no microphone input. Should the microphone input be:

A. A port on the bottom edge
B. A short pigtail in the same location
C. Nonexistent, voice-chat is overrated

I bought my Agetec pre-modded such that it is direct wired to a DB15 cable, but the stock PCB was moved to an external box so it can still be used with the Dreamcast if needed.
Question #2:

I would think a full-length cable would have a much less chance of coming loose in the middle of a match.

It would be sloppy to leave the guide button out completely. However, the Agetec uses a pretty sturdy metal plate for its top. Just widening the holes enough to fit standard 30mm buttons is hard work - for more face buttons, you'd be better off starting with a Mayflash and making use of its 8 button layout.

Probably safer to put it somewhere, even if it's a cable sticking out of the VMU window. (I don't suggest that.) I guess that's more what you're willing to do, and what you have to work with.

Dear Bomber;
Please don't dash any interest I have in T6. While I know I should be more interested in the game and not the stick my love for a 3d fighter shall and will always be shallow. You never know, maybe it is the best stick ever:roll:.At least it is wireless ( though how fast is the batt going to drain ) and could have quick disconnects. At least the box looks pretty.. and it has an art book! Who doesn't love an art book.

Just got my TE, played some Xmen vs. Street Fighter with it, I think it's the shit. Can't wait to dual mod it. :)

Thanks Marman, for making such a sweet ass stick.

The San-Diego Comic-Con is all about exclusive goodies, and in that spirit Mad Catz is hawking a limited number of exclusive Street Fighter IV arcade sticks and pads to show attendees.

Visitors to the San-Diego Comic-Con this week will have a chance to pick up one of 500 of these exclusive Street Fighter IV accessories, with 250 each split between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the controllers. According to Mad Catz Art Director Roentgen D. Reyes, Sagat and his nasty scar were the inspirations behind the design, which definitely has an angry orange-owie feel to it.

When we set out creating the Limited Edition artwork we knew that we had to create an impactful design that was radically different from the previous imagery and color schemes. With that in mind we chose not to concentrate on a group of characters but instead produce something targeted to the fan community. After working through a number of designs, we focused on one of the strongest ‘fan-favorite' characters in the game, Sagat. The character is renowned for his large scar which game legend tells us was caused by archrival Ryu. In my mind, playing Street Fighter® IV evokes the player's competitive nature, with rivalry a key element of the experience."

The hefty Tournament Edition sticks will be available exclusively through Capcom at Comic-Con for $179.99, while the pads will be available at the convention and on the Mad Catz Gameshark website for $49.99.

This is crap, i cant make it to comic-con and i waant one of those TE's

I don't really care for it either.

Too plain.

I do like the controller more so since it's not as gaudy as the character art.

The box for the stick doesn't look nearly as cool either:
