CAG Fighter Thread XXXIX - Fighters Reborn 08 Ultimate Match
I agree with this as well.

and EO wasn't that bad Mr. Beef.....
I know, I'm just messing with ya. :)
It'd be better if the GC controller was...you know...made for 2-d fighters.

Well let's see... what games have had multiple console releases. I think on this, and offer my answers:

Capcom Vs. SNK 2 - DC (PS2 version played in tourneys, though)
Darkstalkers (series) - PS2
Fatal Fury (Including Real Bout) - PS2 compilations
Garou: Mark of the Wolves - PS2
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core - PS2 (US version)
King of Fighters Series (prior to XI) - PS2 compilations
King of Fighters XI - Japanese PS2 release (for progressive scan)
Last Blade 2 - Dreamcast
Marvel Vs. Capcom - Dreamcast
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 - Dreamcast
Melty Blood: Act Cadenza - PC (Ver. B)
Neo Geo Battle Coliseum - US PS2 release (for greatly reduced load times)
Power Stone - PSP (Collection... maybe?)
Samurai Shodown Series - Saturn
Soul Calibur II - Xbox
Street Fighter Alpha 1/2/3 - PS2 (Anthology)
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection - PS2
Super Street Fighter II Turbo - XBox (CCC Vol. 2)
Tekken 5 - PS3 (DR, obviously)
Virtua Fighter 5 - Xbox 360
Vs. Series (prior to MVC) - Saturn

I did try to research that shit a while back and buy the best versions.

Okay, this was largely useless.

well, it did serve to remind us that SNK will never port Mark of the Wolves to the PS2 in the U.S.

It's true! Those damn Amelicans don't deserve it.
It still trips me out that to this day there is NO perfect port of Super Street Fighter II TURBO... lol... that's got to be like some kind of record...

We should compile a list of best versions for games on multiple systems/that had multiple versions....
What about the version on Capcom Classics 2? That's close, isn't it?

I don't play much Super Turbo.

And to whomever was talking about CvS2, I probably wouldn't start with A-Groove. I'd try C or K. If you need help post up, me and Asian and everyone else could probably help you out.
I heard that some of the sound effects were a little off even on the CCC Vol. 2 version of ST.
ehh I can live with that.

I think I started with C-Groove. Now I play pretty much whatever (except for P)

I pick certain characters with certain grooves (A-Bison, A-Ken, C-Sagat, K-Haohmaru etc....)

Yeah, a couple off-sound effects is incredibly minor... which makes me wonder if there was something else... like Rainbow Edition style nonsense...

From what I read in various threads on SRK, the CCC2 version of ST has serious input lag. I shortly let my copy go after hearing about that. MarkMan any comments on that?
Tisk tisk, my Asian friend, but shouldn't you be playin' dat Dreamcast version of CVS2 then?
Pish, whatevaaaaaaa

From what I've read there are very minor differences between the DC and PS2 versions.

****From CVS2 FAQ on SRK boards (Answered by Campbell "Buktooth" Tran)****

Q: There's like 5 different platforms for CvS2. Are there any differences?
A: For obvious reasons, everything will be compared to the arcade version of the game.

Dreamcast: For all intents and purposes, arcade perfect. There have been some complaints about speed differences between the arcade and DC versions, but it's an established fact that there IS no standard arcade speed. Different arcade cabinets all set on the default speed of 3 will have slight (sometimes major) speed differences for no apparent reason.

PlayStation 2: Pretty much identical to the DC version (and therefore, identical to the arcade), the PS2 version does sport slightly higher resolution. Nothing game-affecting, though.

Mr. Beef, I'll try to hit you up for some games of CVS2 in the next couple weeks. I've played a handful of my FG thread hommies in here and everyone is way legit. I'm always curious how good everyone else that posts is.

 • Capcom VS SNK 2 - Dreamcast or PS2
 • Marvel VS Capcom - No arcade perfect port. Dreamcast version has incorrect hitboxes.
 • Marvel VS Capcom 2 - Dreamcast
 • Soul Calibur II - Not sure, maybe B:L can shed light here? It's either PS2 or GCN. The Xbox one had a bug/glitch with one of Ivy's moves.
 • Super Street Fighter II TURBO - No arcade perfect port. Closest one is on Capcom's Classics Collection Vol. 2. Many top players who are used to the arcade version will note the timing/slight lag with the PS2 version.
 • Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike - No arcade perfect port. Closest one is PS2. Timing is a BIT different on console.
 • Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection - PS3
 • Tekken Tag Tournament - You'd think PS2, but it's not arcade perfect... :(
 • Virtua Fighter 5 - Xbox 360

In before someone posts Street Fighter IV DX setup being 24,000 USD....

The DX setup includes 4 arcade cabinets and has LAN play setup so if arcade owners have machines setup across the arcade dude at machine 1 can play dude at machine 8 without having to sit VS style (across) from them.

The Taito Type X2 arcade board alone is only 1,500, so you do the math on how much rape Capcom is charging.

Too much rape?

Thanks for the ST frame vid SmallWind.

I don't think I ever played my copy of CCC2, so I never got to see first hand how bad the input lag was.

4 frames in SSF2T is very hard to notice with the human eye, and probably as hard to notice in gameplay. Only when playing/comparing between one version to the next does it become evident. Your muscle memory/reflexes do all the talking for you.

I look forward to playing you sometime in the near future, asianxcore. Only one question remains...where we gonna do dis bitch?
So do we know when HD Remix is going to be available yet?
-G
It's crazy that SF4 has been announced and given a release date and HG remix still is mysterious...
I bought Neo Geo Battlecoliseum and KOF XI from TRU today for $14.99 each.
Nice, I spent $40 on Neo Geo BC & about $40 on KOF XI. I just couldn't wait 2 years I guess.

Anyone else gonna pick up Smash Bros tonight? I'm heading over to the GS midnight launch after I get of work. It's too bad we lose an hour tonight :( I just know I'll be waking up at 2 in the afternoon tomarrow.

I just wish they were online-enabled for North America. I only know one person locally that plays fighters much.

That's 1 more than I know

Picking up Smash at midnight. I'll probably play in the tournament to but get rocked by some little kid I'm sure. I'm pretty good, but some kids are just straight nerd.

I'll post impressions tomorrow. Gonna have 10+ people here to play tonight, will probably set up 2 TV's and 2 Wii's with 2 copies of Brawl so that everyone can play. Should be fun.

I just wish most of the more beastly Smash crews didn't live near my area. Chances are, I'll have to go up against one or more of them.

I'm sick as hell or I'd be out getting Brawl tonight. I'll drag myself out there tomorrow. Those bastards better not sell my preorder or try and give me a "new" opened copy.
So wait, is Smash in stores everywhere tomorrow, or is it just Gamestop?
Everywhere. I know it's an odd release date, on a Sunday.

I know my GS is gonna have a tourney but I'm flyin' strait home. I also hear that SSBB has it's own "Friend Code" thingy. I guess that means we gotta swap codes... again.

EVERYWHEREEEEEEEEEEE

It's been shipped to stores awhile back...

Been playing since end of Jan. and it's definitely solid even if you don't have someone to play with.
That's 1 more than I know
Man, in my high school and college days all me and my friends would play is fighters. Of course, that was the premiere genre for competitive gaming since FPS wasn't as big at the time.

Same here. Once I left collage all my "fighting buddies" just drifted away. Online is the only thing that allows me to play competivly.

Good to hear SSBB 1- Player mode is solid. I'll be doing alot of that. Ohhhh only a few more minutes then I'm out to pick it up.

Yeah, good thing it was shipped early as well.

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9853/metaknightsez2aw9.jpg

Been playing it since Friday to unlock stuff. Anyone else here tried it online yet?

My Brawl friend code is: 2105 8304 4709

im the only one not picking it up... and I have it reserved.

I decided not too since I realized the only reason why Id get it is to entertain myv few (art$$$) friends...

It'd turn into what Halo 3 turned into for me: played a bit the first week and then never wanted to touch it again.

I'm saving my melee money for where it should go, GTAIV and MGS4.

NOTE: its hard to write this on my WII since I am away from home ATM >_

Going to pick up my pre-order copy of Smash tomorrow afternoon on my way home.

We should all definitely trade codes when we get our copies of Smash. I'm too lazy to buy another XBL membership to play online and Smash will be fun + free!

Put my SSBB friend code in my sig. Let me know your guys so I can add ya.

My thoughts: Played about 2 hours and it's what I expected. Lots of crap to unlock (that's a good thing). 1-Player mode is great. I also played a match with a friend online and it ran very smooth, but he kicked my ass anyways. If you don't know already SSBB uses a different friend code than the Wii console. As for controls I tried using the Wii Classic controller and my guy was sliding all around, I couldn't control him well. The controller just sucks. I prefer the ol' wavebird, feels natural.

Time for sleep.

Off topic (lol) - Smash is fun.

but yes, the classic controller controls like a greasy monkey. I felt the same way about Melee on a wavebird though, so I think I'm just not used to the floaty feel of the game.

I'll post my friend code tomorrow.

Question: Did they ever add voice chat, or is it just going to be me saying lame phrases like "I'm gonna get you!" or something incredibly lame like that?

Either way, as tempted as I am, I'm waiting till Friday when my Spring Break starts to pick this up, because this will absolutely devastate my grades if I pick it up today.

No voice chat. You can enter taunt messages which show up before fights.
Nintendo looks out for your innocence, long after you lost it.
