CAG Gaming Group - Call of Duty 4 Thursdays

I've got to say that my recent decision to play just for fun has really paid off. I mean, I worked so hard to get the gold guns, and I don't ever even use the AK-47 or M60 and only use the Dragunov on hardcore.

Shan, Thor and I were playing earlier and I just stuck with the M4, G36c or occasionally the M40 for sniping and started cleaning up compared to struggling with the MP5 going for headshots.

Alright, so I've been inactive for quite some time, due to work and a few other things, but am not back to having some gaming time on Thursdays, so count me in this week and, once I get done with Lego SW: Complete Saga, throughout the week.
Ninja, I knew I screwed myself when you guys told me Chase and Khondor's xboxes went tits up and I said, "Wow, I've been lucky. I've had my 360 since launch."

I just really screwed the pooch on this one.
Well, that makes you the third. Welcome to the Bermuda Triangle, Dante. There's fruit punch to your left, and if you have wings you can fly off the Triangle like Khondor did. :whee:

Haha, yeah, you rocked it with phenomenal kill ratios (at least after that fateful first match...) .... but everytime I went to try to find your Golden Guns, I couldn't .... no bling-age for me :bomb: .... and darn it, I wanted my bling!

Yay! I haven't played with you in literally years. I remember my first CAG experience on Xbox Live, on Halo 2, winding up in a random game against a CAG team including CheapyD, and you yelling, "Matt Young from CAG!" whenever you got close enough for me to hear you on the proximity chat. Good times.

Yeah, I don't even have a class set up with a gold gun currently. Lately I've got set up:

G36c
MP5
RPD
AK-74u/P90/M4
M40/M21/Dragunov

Basically the first three never change, the fourth is my screw around slot that I just put whatever in, and the fifth is always some sniper rifle. So really, the only opportunity would be the gold Dragunov, and I'm not too sure how well you'd take to sniping Shan...
... and I'm not too sure how well you'd take to sniping Shan...
What with my natural talent and completely patient nature in this game...;) ...

Seriously though, you need to p/u a gold G36 thing!!

So...so...cold...C...O...D...4....

Three...days...without...running into a Khondor mine...I'm starting...to have...real bad withdrawl...

so...cold...so...cold...

Oh yeah, those were the days, back on 3rd shift and half days at work (2:00 AM ET). Good times.

Similar situation now, well weekend 2nd shift (4:00-2:30 AM). So throughout the week, I might actually be on when your night is just beginning, assuming the little one and the wife allow it, assuming they are awake.

Hey Craven, I am going to send you an invite since you mentioned that you play late. I am usually getting on fairly late or if you ever play prior to work during the day I would be willing to play with you.

Thats cool with me.
Wow...a full 6 on 6 match of hardcore with CAGs!! I can't believe it worked out. :) That was a lot of fun! :bouncy:
Did I miss this or was I involved.....I was just so damn tired after sleeping only 4 hours Friday night/Saturday morning and my mind was very hazy last night.
I've got to say that my recent decision to play just for fun has really paid off.
Yeah, the few times I tried sniping when I first started playing COD4 I really sucked so I avoided it like the plague. So, recently I decided to work on my sniping skills and have pretty much exclusively been sniping with the exception of a few times on certain maps (i.e. Chinatown) or when I want to take a snipe break. I've not been getting as many kills sniping and sometimes I don't get a positive k/d ratio. Regardless, I get much joy sniping people and I think I'm getting better (at least a little). It's also very satisfying pistol killing people or the occasional no scope, close quarters sniper rifle killin'.

I think that that was after you left Flesh... we joined a hardcore match and quickly invited the other 5 and then a sixth came on that we invited when space cleared... poor Simon had to play hardcore though... SORRY SIMON!!! I didn't hear you!! :)

... a lot of the night has blurred together for me as well though .... ;)

I don't think I have have ever sniped in COD on the multiplayer (just realized that when Flesh was talking about it) !! :D Haha!

Yeah, the last two nights were fun. I just wish Kondor would come back from eating his sandwich. It's very weird to see that he buys a new 360 , but then plays it only for a little while. When I got back my RROD I was playing it for a long ass time.
Blah blah... I like sniping blah blah.
That one kill you got when Darktower and I were on the other team on vacant was well worth all the sniper training you put in. I was spectating the guy and watching him rain death upon your team and out of nowhere he gets sniped from his left and the camera pans down and you're crouched two feet away from him.

Hey guys! I'm back from the middle east and had a great time. Israel was old and Egypt was touristy. but more importantly; khondor, dante and chase got rrod but khondor is back already? anything else noteworthy? I'll should be on most of today if anyone wants to play.

Welcome back, dude! I didn't know you were from Irvine. That's not far at all.

Hey Ender! Fancy meeting you here. ;)

Yeah, I'm (a) cheap (ass gamer), and patiently wait for my 360 to return from repairs (while also waiting for my SonyCard).

If the SonyCard doesn't come by September 7th, I'm just going to get another 360. :whistle2:#

Glad to see you back safe and sound Ender.
I couldn't wait till my 360 got back from MS repair purgatory so i went
and bought another system.

Welcome back Ender.....speaking of 360s I'm really considering getting a 2nd system for times when the primary TV is occupied but I really wish I could definitively determine what chipset & chip revision I was getting. Anybody hear any reports on the 60GB consoles? I'd really want a 120GB HD though...

Hmmmm... like when the wife wants to watch Terminator but you want to play some Halo 3? ;)
Hmmmm... like when the wife wants to watch Terminator but you want to play some Halo 3? ;)
That's an impossible situation. No one willingly wants to play Halo 3.

First of all, Welcome Back, Ender! Secondy, Halo was my terrible idea last night...but it ended up being AWESOME!!!!

(of course, it's only fun when 100% CAGs are playing it! >:|

Fleshyboy, was your wife watching the Terminator show or the movie(s)?

Heck yah it was awesome Simon!! :D Hearing your anguished yells as you were killed and laughter as you did the killing made it all the more entertaining! Those near proximity, overhearing your enemy abilities are so much fun and funny! :bouncy: I would definitely be up for more of that action in the future ;) !

Hamster, try not to be too jealous ;) !

I have definitely decided that I am MUCH more of a hardcore fan (duh!) than regular team deathmatch after the difference in score I saw between the two versions...! Being positive/almost positive in score is a wonderful feeling :bouncy:!!

I can now see why people were saying the g3 is good for hardcore. I never liked the gun in regular matches but am loving it now that we have been playing hardcore.

Is that a bad gun for regular team deathmatch? I always use a silenced G36c for every map/every course/every game type. Is that not a good gun for the regular? Is that why I do so aweful at getting kills ... ;) haha!

You, Joe... I mean Thor, never  ! Over...! ;)

unless you are really accurate and have a quick trigger finger, the g3 isn't really a good weapon for normal deathmatch. the amount of bullets you have to hit a person with just limits anything you can do with it since it seems easier to get away from someone using it. the g36c is a good weapon for normal deathmatch, but it lacks in power. i would say the g36c is the 3rd to 4th most accurate assault rifle overall, the 2 for sure above it are the g3 and the m14 since they are single shot and maybe the m16 depending on range.

i would suggest not using the silencer since you are obviously getting seen anyways, the silencer takes away on the range and seems like it takes away some of the power too of the g36c. it would be fine for hardcore, but for normal deathmatch i would just use a red dot.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome back. It was fun to play with some of you yesterday, i wish i would have been able to play cod4 more last night but i was falling asleep at my desk like at 7 and out by 8.
but the g36c is a really versatile gun, good medium range and auto in case your in close range. but there's no need to have it silenced all the time, and in hardcore there's no HUD for them to see you unless they have a UAV, which the silencer isn't going to stop anyway.
I'm partial to the m16 only because its so good at long distances

I find the G36c to be very underpowered. It has good accuracy and decent range but you will use a lot
of ammo in regular TDM. My goto weapon is the AK-47. Its great for short range and once you get use to the "kick" it can be deadly at long ranges.

up close the g36c is great in any mode, even normal deathmatch. it is good at a distance as well, though it seems to lose a lot of its power. the ak-47 is one of my favorite assault rifles as well, it sucks that there is only 5 slots for weapons. i always have a m16 (just in case), a smg, a secondary assault (whatever challenge i am going for), a lmg (to take down a helicopter), and a sniper.

also to ow3n, it is always a nice precaution to have a silencer in hardcore in case they manage to get a uav. all of my classes have uav jammers set up when i play hardcore since stopping power is not necessary and i hate having the other team know where i am at when i can't find them. i usually use red dots for most of my weapons, i only use silencers with smg's since their iron sights are just fine as it is.

Yeah, I wish they would add at least 1 more custom class option. Someone asked me yesterday why do i use all 5 custom classes? Ummm. because unlike most people, i use more than just the m16 (duh)

i have two accounts. SlimJim0725 is my main tag for every game other than call of duty 4 since i have completed everything on that name (i have all golden weapons, 10th prestige 55, basically every challenge done).

AnarchyDummy is the account i am using for only call of duty 4, but that one is basically done as well. i think i am like a 44 on the 10th prestige with that name.
Well now I'm confused. Somebody (I think Thorbahn) said that BigMac(insert numbers) was you.
sorry, i am not bigmac... i don't even remember playing with thorbahn before, so he could have mistaken me i guess.

Haha! I was so totally confused for a moment! :D I thought maybe you now had a THIRD screenname Slimjim! ;) (even though I've played with BigMac and you before...I'm not really good with voice distinction... !). Thanks for the tips guys! I think I will create a second useable class now. (as I have only ever used one). :) Time to expand my talents...! :bouncy:

There are guns other than the M16?!

... ;)

(No, but really, I have, I think, three M16 classes. :whistle2:#)

(I also have an MP5 with ACOG and Sonic Boom. So I think that evens things out. ;))

Neat chart. I wish I had seen it sooner.

And I had no idea that damage differs per body part (well, other than head and body damage).

...

That is a great find Chase :bouncy:! Did not know there was different damage other than head/body as well?!?! (except maybe grenades which just blow up all of it! ;) ). Also didn't know that hip accuracy changed in standing/crouching!

I just don't know if I would be able to use a single shot weapon. I normally see a bad guy and hold down that right trigger and zigzag a little to kill him... reload (if I haven't been shot)... and then hold down that right trigger again.... (once again... works better on hardcore ;) ).

no third name at the moment, though i have thought about making one where i use only the knife! i bet i still have a positive k/d if i do that too. also, depending on the game type you play, i would suggest different weapons and perks all the time. i never use stopping power on hardcore, i suggest UAV jammer or sleight of hand, juggernaut will not really help. domination or headquarters i would use 3x frag and maybe martyrdom since throwing/dropping grenades at capture points will net you a lot of kills usually.

also to chase, 3 m16 classes? what is the need for that? the m16 with the red dot is the ultimate weapon in any situation. that is why i leave my 1 class with that and then use other weapons that provide me with some sort of challenge. if i were to use the m16 all the time, the game would just be far too easy.

if you use steady aim as perk 3, it basically evens out to at least standing still and shooting. the zigzag is going to throw your shots off more and you will just end up running out of ammo a lot of the time. i find most people don't have very good shots to begin with, so i just aim down my sights and slowly walk around to kill them. this site here has more info than that pic that chase provided http://www.xanga.com/DenKirson/632800688/item.html.

basically anything you will ever need to know is on this site, they seem to have updated it a lot since the last time i was on the site. they never had any info on helicopters or vehicles last time, looks like i am going to be looking over the site again myself.

Ha, Shan, I too had no idea hip accuracy changed with one's position (and I have been playing COD4 for many hours).

This is madness! :whee:

So, I didn't feel much like playing after UT's disappointing loss to UCLA last night so I just watched a little more TV and went to bed.

As far as all this class talk goes, I too use every single slot for different weapons. My setup kind of mirror's Jim's in that I have the LMG for choppers and sniper for fun and some assortment of Assault and SMGs making up the last three. I haven't really used the M-16 since I completed the challenges, the G36c now occupies that slot.

As far as Hardcore goes, every slot for me has sleight of hand. UAV jammer is only worth having for 30 seconds at a time during the UAVs, while sleight of hand is useful the entire round as you're reloaded and ready to go in half the time. I'm a compulsive reloader anyway and I do it pretty much every time I shoot the gun, so it's awesome for me. I've personally been loving the M4 for hardcore as it's pretty accurate and able to fire full auto for close range or I can just squeeze off one or two for long range.

I agree that the silencer is pretty worthless in hardcore as there's no radar in the game and when they call in the UAV they can see you anyway even if you're not shooting. I'd go with the red dot and start aiming down the sights Shan.

sleight of hand is great for people who reload often, but i only reload when i feel it is necessary and very rarely ever run into any trouble from it. a quick swap to the pistol usually can save me if someone is getting close to me while i reload and since the pistol is basically the same as all the other weapons in hardcore, it works fine.

uav jammer and a silencer (with my smg) has been great for hardcore. if your team doesn't die often then a uav jammer is kind of a waste, but i don't trust my team enough (doesn't matter who i play with) that i am willing to take off uav jammer. even if it is for only 30 seconds, during that 30 seconds the other team usually lets their guard down since they have the uav up and i can slip in behind them and take out an entire team. i usually get anywhere from 25-40 kills in hardcore mode with all but my sniper and lmg setups, so i think i will stick with my uav jammer even if it is "worthless".

i honestly just suggest trying out different perks and finding what is good for you. while uav jammer works out well for me, sleight of hand works out better for someone like hamster. it is all a matter of prefernce and what you are good with. someone like me who has somewhere around 40 days played between my 2 names should be able to use anything at anytime and have no problem. someone who has under 5-10 days will likely have a much more difficult time doing what i do, especially since a lot of people have close to the same amount of time played as me, if not more.

40 days?? Where do you find how many days you have played? Does that include single play mode as well?

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to play and experiment this weekend and figure out all the different options/things to choose ! I like knowing what's useful in what situations, so all this discussion has been very helpful! Is noob tube a perk? I have never tried it ... died by it half a million times ... but never tried it out in a full match! :bouncy:

if you look at your score on the leaderboards, it tells the amount of time you have played (online only). i am adding both of my accounts together and have close to 40 days. as for the noob tube question, it is an attachment like the red dot or silencer (comes with all assault rifles as soon as they are unlocked), but it takes up the perk 1 slot.

the grenade launchers are a waste in normal modes unless you have sonic boom. they are very effective on hardcore search and destroy if you know how to use them right. if you get good enough with them, you can hit the other teams spawn or rush point and kill 2-3 of them with one shot. my personal best was an airstrike off of one grenade launcher shot, needless to say the other team was very unhappy.

Haha! That's great Slimjim! :D I get really excited if I just get an airstrike in general at any point... even if it doesn't kill anyone ... which it never does! :bomb:

I have seen that before; with the attachments! Doh! It's just been a long time since I've gone onto that screen since I have only ever used the one class! ;)

well considering search and destroy is 6v6 no respawns and i killed 5 with 1 shot, i thought it was great. a suggestion for your airstrikes, call them in a little bit ahead of where the dots are for the enemies, usually the people are moving and it is very unlikely to hit them if you call it in where they are at the time since they will likely be moving forward.
