CAG Gaming Group - Call of Duty 4 Thursdays

I will be down to playing you guys on Thursday either in 4 or the beta. Though I think I am the only one who doesn't like COD5. It just seems too fake to me, just the guns are way to accurate and I never seen acog scopes on duba duba 2 guns before.
 
I vote cod4 remains the Thursday night game! Besides...shanlynn can't make it Thursdays, so we can save WAW for when she's online ;)
 
Well I want to say Hitman also has bouncing betty's for WatW, so beware as I either place them horribly, or place them just as someone is coming and we both blow up.
 
Haha, you and me both hitman. I'm just sticking to the rifle grenades for my cheap kills as they seemingly don't have the won't detonate until they've flown a certain distance feature that the noob tube had. I've launched them ten feet in front of me and had them go off.

Also, since all my friends are seemingly sick too I won't be going to the show I was planning on attending tonight, and thus am available to play stuff for roughly the next 12 hours now. haha

Funny stuff, and if you thought noob tubes pissed people off in COD4.....it's all the more aggravating to people in SOCOM and thus that much more satisfying. All the deaths I've had trying to noob tube someone in SOCOM is worth it for the several kills per night.

Unfortunately, I have an early morning appointment on Friday and will have to cut my Thursday night gaming short :cry:

And I will have to try the noob tubes! Have still never tried those (sheesh, did I ever try ANYTHING other than the G36 and Frag grenades? No wonder I was so bad at COD4!! ;) ).

Cool. I put in COD4 last Thurs and played with RIVERS (insert random numbers where necessary) and nobody else was on. Got on again later in the evening and everyone was on WaW except for Wet Ninja, Khondor, and Biscuitkiller I think playing GoW. By the time I put GoW in my system my invite was tossed because I had to install a title update. By the time I get back into GoW and waiting for another invite I get invites to WaW!

In summary, I was all for COD4 Thursday last week and nobody showed.

I have barely played the beta (level 13) and haven't played COD4 in a long while, but I'll try to join. Any idea what time you'll be playing?
 
I'm going to miss tomorrow as usual ... Unless u guys r on until 1230am MST! ;). I may try to hop on for a bit tonight though (if I can break away from Fable/beta!!) :D

Was just trying to remember the last time I played COD4 ... I think it was the day before I picked up the beta! ;)
 
Sorry I won't be able to play CoD 4 as it's being borrowed by someone else (they just want to play the single player.)

Also speaking about the CoD engine, anyone else getting Quantum of Solice (new Bond game?) I'm pre-ordering at Gamestop so I get the first multiplayer map pack (due in Jan.) for free. Game Informer had a breakdown of the up-to-12 person multiplayer modes:

Classic- Original Goldeneye-style free-for-all when everyone starts with just pistols and must find new weapons on the map.

Conflict- Both free-for-all and team based, choose from different weapon layouts.

Territory Control- Similar to War/Domination/Headquarters, battle points are random.

Bond VS- One random player of the 12 is chosen as Bond and must either kill the other 11 or disarm 2 of 3 bombs on the map. Bond gets 2 lives, health bonus, faster run speed, and radar that shows all enemies.

Bond Evasion- MI6 agents must escort Bond to a spot on the map while the other team tries to kill Bond (doesn't say but seems to refer that Bond is an NPC in this mode.)

Golden Gun- The infamous Golden Gun is in the middle of the map, get as many kills with the gun as possible.
 
I'd been wondering about that game myself Hitman and had Ninja put me down as a "maybe" on it a bit back. ;) I LOVED Goldeneye for N64 and think that this game will be great or "just another one of the same". Either way, I may give it a whirl! :)

I haven't been a regular here for a little bit as I've been way too busy and playing games from my backlog, but I'm going to be down for Cod4/beta Thursday and maybe tonite. As usual I won't be on until 1 eastern so hopefully some CAGs will still be playing.

I'm down for some Saints Row2 (just rented it) and SOCOM.

Simon, I'll play a few rounds with you on COD4 since you usually don't show up until around midnight :D
 
I'd be willing to try Saints. I haven't even done the co-op, but if a group is willing to try the various multiplayer modes, that'd be cool. I'm also up for co-op on the Brotherhood missions, but only starting from the very first one.
 
Yeah, Khondor and I goofed around with the SR2 co-op a bit back when the game came out. I think we only did like one mission and a stronghold, and then proceeded to just tazer and revive each other for around 45 minutes.

Nothing like the healing power of a 40 oz...
 
I will try to get on tomorrow night, but I am not gonna make any promises. I am pulling an all nighter tonight to finish the homework that I waited until the last minute and then decided to go to the Pistons home opener instead.

Hopefully I will get some gaming in sometime over the weekend, but it is looking bad. I have to drive about 4 hours after 2 hours of class on Friday to go pick up some tickets I bought for the Lions Jags game (GO Jags!!), and then on Saturday I am going to another Pistons game.

I agree that cod4 is somewhat "old" now. But if many of you remember, I only bought this game to play with you dudes and dudettes. I NEVER play this game without you guys, so I look at cod4 like a meeting place for up to 18 cags! If the beta allowed it, and everyone had it, I'd be up for that. If all the folks we play with had ps3s, I'd be up for a mass socom or resistance session as well.

I think where the value lies (for me) in still playing this game on Thursdays is that EVERYONE has it, it's east to jump in and play, and it's always a ton of laughs and good conversation.

To be quite honest, when I pay too much attention to this game, I realize how horrible I am at it, and how little I enjoy it without the social interaction with the cags and cpnks.

Anyways, I agree that this game has overstayed its welcome, but it's a great meeting place, and I'll always enjoy a friendly knife-tickling moment with the cags!
 
I honestly am still addicted... I think cause I have to finish my challenges... I am just unsure about WaW still. I think I need to find a good deal in order to get it. I am still playing COD4 whenever I can, tonight included.
 
I haven't played COD4 at all lately but if that is the game for tonight I will play. I wish they had a ground war TDM mode so we could avoid the domination games.
 
I totally agree Darktower. I will be there tonight on COD4 :grouphug: if I am still alive.....stayed up until 2:30 last night playing SR2 and not a single achievement. I don't think I've slept more than 5 hours any night the past 2 weeks :drool:

I'm getting the Collectors because a) I'm a sucker for the COD series, and b) because I kinda suck with this game compared to COD4 and I'm going to need all the help I can get with it, so those early unlocks are going to be useful.

I've pre-ordered the CE since I got $70 of trade credit from my UT3, SSBB, and BFBC and since I don't think I'll be playing too much the first week I could really use the Double XP. That and I'm a sucker for the limited/collector's editions of games when they come with neat but useless stuff like stainless steel canteens and metal cases.
 
Funny that Chase should mention Prestige, as I'm thinking I might actually not get into that this time around. After hitting 10 in COD4 and still having fun with the game, it kind of leads me to believe that one does not have to prestiege to keep the game fun and interesting. If anything I'll only do one or two to get a couple of extra custom slots...
 
Hamster, that brings up another good question. So, originally I thought about not prestiging this go around but seeing that they added the extra custom slots incentive that changed my mind. Well, here comes the real question....

I wonder if that gun we get the FG 42 Machine Gun always with the CE or if it goes away after the 1st prestige and then must be earned via leveling up. I would think and hope it would stay around (although I really prefer the rifles) since I figure it's either tied to the code on the disc or an XBL code entered.
 
I had never thought of that... good question fleshie. I too would hope that it would stay around, otherwise it really is kind of worthless to do that only to throw it away a couple of weeks later by hitting the prestiege button.
 
Well everyone convinced me to go ahead with the Collector's Edition, but when I went to Gamestop yesterday after work, they told me it was too late to switch. They already had 16 preorders for the collectors and couldn't guarantee they would have any extras. I have to ask them after the manager conference call on Monday to see if they will have enough to have one for me to switch to.
 
Hey guys- Whether we play this or the WaW beta tonight, I would be more than happy to join. My only request is NO HARDCORE! It's okay sometimes, but last night, that was all we played on the beta. It was great getting to talk to everyone, but the actual gameplay was rarely fun at all.

I pitched the question by way of e-mail to Treyarch's community manager. Here's hoping we get a response.

By the way, I had no idea those extra custom class slots were only for those who prestige. Interesting...

Yeah, that's why I didn't prestige in COD4.

Now I ponder if I will actually prestige this go-about. :whistle2:k I liked being underestimated. But those extra slots are very tempting...
