Hey, guys I plan to get on for SOCOM night tonight....I know it's been a while so I expect to die quite a bit. As usual, I probably won't get on until late around 10:30 or 11PM Central.

Server : KOREA
Game: C A G

hope to see you guys in there

You dont need to be in the clan just a CAG to play come one come all :)

Not gonna be able to play... Turns out after a call that the guy couldn't fix my net problem so they had to call the "maintenance" crew. Great thing about that is they won't come til tomorrow or so... I should be blessed just to have net right now too. Oh well, see ya Tues. (hopefully...)

yeah, i know what you mean. i really like it so far. great balance in the weapons.
the usas 12 is SO fun.

That was pretty fun. Hmmm I wasn't digging the game, but now I'm not sure if I should get rid of it or not.

I hated the VIP escort missions though, it seem the attacking team would always win on that. Fun either way though.

It'll be cool to try some no respawn rounds, although then the VIP escort team would be extra screwed. Maybe they could add an option where only the escorts respawn, or they have limited respawns or something.

Also ha, where did you guys take the VIPs on that escort map with the satellite dishes? Between all the rounds I was a mercenary, I think I saw just one VIP.

Are you given a random Special Forces team you're a part of when you create your guy, or can you be any? For example, my commando is SAS, but I notice others look very different, or my mercenary is some generic looking bloke while I think Metaly had like a Middle East guy with sunglasses.

I was the Chinese dude!

I think country is based on your clan, but you can go into the armory and set up custom outfit colors and accessories. Mmm, accessories.

I'm getting this game as a gift on christmas and I REALLY hope the new patch is out. Can't wait to play with you guys and get pwned whilst wearing my new headset!

Those were some great games last night. I kept telling myself one more round and before I knew it, it was 2 in the morning.
I kept getting disconnected though, hopefully they fix that soon. I'm also going to hardwire my connection to see if that helps. I started seeing some weird stuff happen and I knew I was about to get d/c'ed. I think at one point the game said I knifed Arnold even though I was nowhere near him, then I saw him drop from a level above... weird...

I think I took more bullets in the face last night than I have in all my other sessions combined. Either way it was a blast playing with all of you.

Thanks md for setting up the game and maps. I look forward to getting back on after the holidays.

The main reason is that SCEA shuts down after Tuesday until Jan. 5th, 2009

Thanks everybody for making it last night it was fun and a good mix of maps . i might drop the large maps and stick to the smaller maps, and lower the respawn to like 5 instead of 10. it was good to see so many of us out there, i think we had almost 10 on at once. going in that Korean server was good to keep the riff raff away. I was also thinking maybe cutting the rounds from 4 to 2 but we shall see. We did get thru all of the maps i made, it took a while but we made it. thanks again guys see you on the battlefield, Happy Holidays

I was totally lost on most of those maps but the one with the satellite dishes was extra convoluted.
I don't think I've ever said, "Where the fuck am I?" in a game more than I did last night. ;)

Yeah the maps are intense. Sounds like it was the best turnout yet last night. Hopefully you guys continue to show up.

I cannot believe Socom.com isnt updated yet. If the patch is not out by Christmas that is a damn shame. Does alll of SCEA shut down? It should be in QA now

I've only played for a day or two but these are much needed, in my opinion.

That map was kind of a cool layout but I also remember thinking many times that it was too big.

I have to admit that I actually like the lean-over-obstacle motion control works pretty well. The left/right leaning controls don't feel as good to me though, so it'll be nice to try those on the dpad. I wonder what will happen to the current dpad controls, though?

Also glad to hear that the spectator camera panning is a bug because I thought I was just going crazy.

How do you dive?

Haha, I remember somehow getting knifed as soon as I respawned and had no idea what was going on. The game is still fun even with all these bugs, but I can't imagine how it must've been during the beta or when the game first launched.

/_\ That is supposed to be a triangle

That reminds me, after having to reinstall the other day after getting my new copy, I had to get all the patches again and it didn't even recognize my old save data. So I guess the game on the bundled disc is considered different than the standalone. Not a huge deal since I was able to recreate my soldiers, but still just a hassle and also really unusual that they'd do that.

Very odd. Especially considering you went from disc version to disc version, and not to downloadable one. I thought you just clicked on the other icon underneath the game on the XMB

At least we have a date. Albeit a little farther away than we would have liked

SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 Update Status Update Posted by Seth Luisi

Hello,

Some of you may be wondering why we have not posted an update this past week. Well, we've been extremely busy trying to finalize the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update.

We've been spending the last week tracking down and fixing stability issues. A lot of these are not new and existed in the 1.20 update but it is our goal to provide a much more stable experience for the 1.30 update. A lot of the stability issues only happen under infrequent circumstances but the number of separate infrequent issues added up. We've fixed a good number of these issues (including the "heart attack" bug) and we are now preparing a final candidate for final acceptance testing and SCE Format QA.

Unfortunately, due to the Holidays the update will not be approved by SCE Format QA until early next year. Our QA staff will be here, testing the game over vacation, but the SCE QA teams which must approve the update before release will not. Again, these teams must approve all titles and updates before they can be released. We are unable to release the 1.30 update without their approval. As much as I would like to play Scrooge, it is impossible for us to cancel their vacation and get them to approve it over the holiday.

Therefore, barring any unforeseen issues, we are looking to release the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update during the week of January 5th or January 12th. We are pushing to get it approved and deployed ASAP after the holiday break.

We understand that a lot of you were hoping to play the 1.30 update over the break and we really wanted to make that happen. However, our primary goal is to make sure that the 1.30 update lives up to everyone's expectations and more time was needed to make that happen.

This is going to be a bit like me cheering about how gas is only $2 when the rest of the US is at $1 but...
I'm going to try and catch a CAG night sometime soon.
That would be awesome...I was wondering if you had picked this up.
Sweetness on the news front. I'm going to try and catch a CAG night sometime soon.
Awesome. Bring buddha along for the ride too if you can convince him. He hopped on for a couple rounds a few days ago.
That would be awesome...I was wondering if you had picked this up.
If he didnt have every game under the sun Im sure he would have been more active. Add in real everyday life and Socom gets pushed to the side. Also the fact that the game is essentially half finished probably doesn't help the cause for non-Socom fanatics

What sort of features can we expect them to add to the game, besides the random bugfixes? I know I haven't played much but it seems like there's a good amount of solid game there already.

Yeah the solid gameplay is there but here is a couple things that are needed. Look in the manual.

-Full Party system (not just 16v16)
-Clan Ladders and Calendars (Makes Gamebattles obsolete)
-Official Tournaments
- I know im missing something

Now you got me sounding like a hater :) This game is IMO the best shooter out there right now. Better than anything released up until this point as well. Straight crack. Check my stats and it will show you how much I play this game. Im just a little frustrated since I expected the patch before Christmas. At least when it finally does come out I will be back in Sagnasty for some murkin.

Nah, I was just wondering because people keep talking up this 1.3 patch even though the change list didn't seem too major, so I was wondering what else would be coming. The calendar thing seems pretty cool, but are we really planning to do a lot of clan battles and tournaments? (By "we" I mean "you guys." :))

Sadly thats not even coming in 1.3 It would be nice to be able to get a game at 10:30 on Sunday night without having to wait around for the room to fill up, so the clan ladder would be good for that.

I would say no, not a lot of battles and tournaments. I just want to play the game. Even the pub rooms are uber-competitive, so I could only imagine what Clan matches are like. But if four or five of the addicts want to start challenging clans eventually I am totally down with that. In fact I would prefer it.
Speaking of patch 1.3, it will come at the beginning of January. It appears the patch is pretty much finished; however, SCEA requires a patch go through a Q&A process before it goes Live, and SCEA will be on vacation after tomorrow until Jan. 5th 2009 (Not just SCEA, but SCEE also gets a Holiday). Once they come back, the update should be approved and go live.

Top of page Mana;) Its doubtful you will be able to post any Socom news here before I or mdamore does. We are all over this shit! Do you like the game though?
Top of page Mana;) Its doubtful you will be able to post any Socom news here before I or mdamore does. We are all over this shit! Do you like the game though?
I do like it, but I REALLY need to play it more. My only issue for now is that there may be a few little weird things (like with how the menus are) and it takes a while for a match to start. However, I definitely like the way the game plays (it feels perfect for me). I just need to learn the controls more and get a better understanding of each game type.

The controls took a little getting used to, still don't know how to use my pistol or throw grenades, but I finally figured out how to reload. I also like how it doesn't just combine all the ammo, that if you reload with still six rounds left in one clip and have 13 in another they don't combine into one with 19. Adds a bit of realism to the game.

How do you guys deal with long distance shots...? Last couple of times I've done it I've gotten shot with assault rifles...

Also, I'd really wish they'd ban RPG... it would get rid of a lot of tOOl... erm, unskilled players.
I also like how it doesn't just combine all the ammo...
Really? I didn't notice that. Good to know...I was constantly running low on ammo and now I know why. I was reloading too often, apparently.
