Jeez, is Live f'd up for anyone else right now? I finally got the GotY edition in the mail today and I can't get through one game on Live.

Yeah, I was having a lot of problems with it too. I was really worried at first; I just had FiOS installed today, so I thought that was causing the problems and I didn't want to have to deal with troubleshooting or port forwarding or anything.

I spent 12.25 on these new maps and I've played China Town like once for half a round... And that is out of like I dunno, 100-120 games I've played since purchasing them.
Christ, every time one of the new maps comes up it ALWAYS gets vetoed. WHY!?? Why do you idiots veto it!? You spent fricken money on these and you skip it every time? It's the only fricken way to play them with people. "I'm sick of China town! Lets play Downpour!" What!? How are you not sick of all the old maps? You are prestige for your 8th time! AGHH!

The only time I want to skip the new maps when we're playing Ground War and its a domination map. Or, if we just played the same game in a previous lobby.

i always vote the new maps. i expected better than 2 full blown camp fest maps (chinatown and creek), a map i can only play in team tactical and cage match (killhouse), and a half decent map at best (broadcast). until i play one team that doesn't camp the 3 maps i can actually use, i will always be placing my vote to skip. believe me, if i had known that the maps were going to be like this, i would have never wasted the money on the maps.

I really don't get how you can camp in COD4, unless its 1v1 or Hardcore. I mean, you can see where they are, all you have to do is lob a grenade.
But I guess I wouldn't know the "crapiness" of the new maps, because I never get to play them... I would love to learn why they suck first hand.

are you kidding me? you cant camp in COD4? if a team is set up in one building the whole game and hugging every window, setting up claymores at the doorways, etc., it is easy to camp. it is difficult to get a grenade in a window with 1-2 seconds of time before getting shot in the head, especially if you want to cook it so they cant run away from it. creek is extremely one-sided and is almost impossible to push the other team from the good spawn since the rest of your team gets picked off by snipers quick. broadcast can go both ways, if everyone moves it is a great map, if you have guys just camping the top of the building the whole game, it is boring as hell (almost as bad as creek, but not quite).

Just curious, which side do you consider the "good side" of Creek, the barn side, or the houses side? I haven't had issues clearing a team out of either side of the map. Just switch to a silenced class and they'll usually never notice, as the snipers don't have the map displayed while sniping.

i consider the house side the good spawn on creek. if the team is even decent it is near impossible to get over there even with a silenced class (trust me, that is how i always get to that other side). if they have 3 good snipers (2 on the hill, 1 on the house) and 3 good gunners, it is game over if you have the barn side IMO. 2 guys watch the tunnel while the other roams around going after the opposing snipers, the barn side pretty much does not stand a chance. from every time i have played the new maps (i am basing this off deathmatch of course), the entire other team is either camping in the houses on chinatown with claymores at the doors with people looking out the window and i already explained creek. if you haven't run into this as much as me, feel lucky, but i honestly feel like i wasted money on the maps for everyone else not to have to move. i can't stand camping... sniping is one thing, but when you sit still with any other class, you have 0 skill IMO.
if i am thinking of the same place you are talking about on ambush, that is an easy grenade up there in comparison to the windows on chinatown and smoke grenades on that map are also much more effective than on creek since creek is so open. i have played maybe 2 games out of probably 30 in deathmatches on the new maps that the other team didn't camp and we just destroyed them. i don't mind the maps as much if it is on domination since that forces them to move around to capture the flags. i also wouldn't have a problem with it if they were spreading out to hold key points of the map, but it is the entire team crammed into one building that doesn't make sense to have an entire team in.

I like the "it's a boy" background on mine and the shadow of me and my son tag-teamin' noobs. It turns out that COD4 is the only game he'll let me play for any amount of time when he's awake since I give him a controller without batteries and he acts like he's the one doing all the killin'.
I still don't know how some of you guys got around the 1 image signature limit. I tried doing what I think panda had suggested once and it didn't work for me.

I've never really had a problem with camping in COD4 (3 days game time) the only times I did would be like in Tactical, but that's just because I play with my GF and my good friend and we aren't exactly the best in working as a team. So it's pretty easy to camp.
But if you have a decent team, and you aren't to bad (Trust me, I rock... socks...) you can turn the other teams camp into your killing spree...

And I totally agree about camping, but it isn't as bad a problem as you're making it out to be. I played one game on Ambush where there were three snipers up in that one two story building in front of the A flag in domination. After getting sniped multiple times from up there I decided I would clear it out. I went up the stairs knowing full well that anyone camping that long would have claymores set, so I triggered both of them without killing myself on the stairs and proceeded to round the corner to kill that annoying guy, only to find ANOTHER CLAYMORE.

The good side of Creek is the side that can run straight up onto the hill without taking that path along the side to reach the top. Its a lot easier to setup defense from up there for any gametype.
Any tips on doing the counter claymore/c4 challenges? I have only like 2-3 challenges left to do at all and I want to complete them before GTA.
