Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

Decided I'd do prestige, its honestly unbelieveable how good the M16 is compared to even the stuff you unlock 30 +. I got 68 kills on vacant in HQ, and 59 on Downpour in HQ with it.

Played some tonight, and since I'm home from college and a bunch of friends are I should be on all week playin. Can't wait for some new maps or guns.

Panda send me a friend invite. I was playing COD4 earlier tonite.

Sorry Panda, I accepted your game invite and it was taking a while to load the settings and then my internet and cable died

It's still down now. I'm just in class right now.

Silenced M4 w/ extra stuns / more damage / deeper penetration (forget the exact perk names)

Usually play Search and Destroy - which tends to explain the setup.

I use Juggernaut. I know it has to be good since Trakan gets pissed off when other people use it :D

It's not that it's good.

It pisses him (and me) off because it delays the inevitable.

Me killing them.

I love martyrdom because it pisses people off. I don't understand how people get pissed off at players using different perks in the game. If they're there, I'm going to use them.

By the way, I'm an m-16 person with red dot scope.

Juggernaut + knife + Desert Eagle

I knifed 15 people in a row on headquarters on the ship, and took down five with the desert eagle

G3 with Red Dot, Claymores (Bang!), Stopping Power, Extreme Conditioning.
Or Mp5 with Silencer, x3 Flashbangs, UAV Jammer, Extreme Conditioning

Quick COD4 or Orange Box?

note: I beat COD4 at a friends house, then he brought it over and we played on live for a bit and I love the multiplayer.

COD. Orange Box is strictly single player. COD 4 has a fun multi.

I can not for the life of me get pat the helicopter in mission 6, the hunted on Veteran. Any pointers?

GOT IT! I hid underneath trucks most of the way and it turned out quite well.

Two quick question. Does COD4 have in game audio sliders? How noob friendly is this game?

To clarify, I hated Gears of War online because so many times you'd be one-shot killed. I'd just get owned over and over again, and never given a chance to get any better since I'd just get pissed off with dying all the time. I find Halo 3 online to be fun, but I can't use my headset on it so I don't play it often. Most seem to think this is more fun than Halo 3, so I'm thinking I might enjoy it, but is that because it caters more to FPS vets (I'm basically an FPS noob) or its just more fun? And I guess that makes 3 questions. ;)

I also enjoy a well crafted single player, Call of Duty 4 was definitely that but I beat it on normal. Wouldn't mind going back in to beat Veteran on my set-up but which do you guys think is the better overall value?

Wow i just noticed I didn't get points for beating bog and war pig on veteran, this better not happen for hunted and death form above, I refuse to do hunted again.

edit:nvm

My ASSUALT class

- G36C w/ Reddot
- Deagle
- Stun Gren x1
- Claymore x2
- Sleight of Hand
- Maryrdom

Claymores rule for setting up a perimiter and making sure no one sneaks up behind you while you take people out. SoH perk comes in handy when they come in bunches. Martyrdom is cheap, but everyone uses it. I can succesfully substitute Last Stand if playing Hardcore matches.

My SPEED class

- MP5/AK74u w/ Reddot
- Deagle
- Flash Gren x1
- Frag Gren x3
- Stopping Power
- Extreme Conditioning

I grenade ALOT of people with this setup. And with EC perk, by time they respawn and come back to get me, Im on the other side of the map.

My NINJA class

- MP5/AK74u w/ Silencer
- M9 Silenced
- Smoke Gren x1
- Bandolier
- UAV Jammer
- Extreme conditioning

For the Ninja class, I thought about using the 'Dead Silence' perk, but Ive found that in the heat of battle, opponents wont hear you coming 9/10 times anyway, and EC was better for moving quickly around the map.

Pay attention to the achievements.

Some of them you have to beat multiple levels to get the achivements.
I think I'm going to go COD4 as the Live play is just too much fun.
TF2 is awesome fun. But 5 maps, and no upgrading mean its just too limited to enjoy log term. I'd reccomend both games to anyone, but if your primary concern is online multiplayer, CoD4 trumps TF2.

Yeah I knew that, I wasn't really paying attention to the switch in characters however, so I was a bit confused.
I've seen reviews that say that multiplayer has 16 maps, but I only have 9. How do I unlock the rest?
Certain maps are only available on certain gamemodes. I was level 50 something before I started playing some of the objective based game modes, and I ran into at least 3 maps I had never played before. One is a cargo ship at night, one is a small map with a bunch of cargo containers, and one is some kinda square plaza with a two story balcony deal running around it.

Also, I believe one of the maps is a tiny 1 on 1 map that doesnt come up in any game mode, you can only use it for private games.

Thanks. I mostly play ground war so I never really see any of the other maps.

Great matches moojuice, G-money[shot] and fullmetal. I had to go to bed and didn't want to hear those morans talk anymore. I will be on tomorrow for some more 6v6 HQ on Shipment.

The thing that will help you improve the most in this game is the killcam. So often in Halo I would die and not know how, but it really helps to be able to see how you die and make improvements on the fly.

Kill Cam helps soo much. Also, dont run around like a chicken with its head cutoff. Stay close to walls, along corners, etc. The Quickest way to die in this game is to run around blindly, or to be out in the open.

Not using a mike is not a good idea for CoD 4. You can probably do deathmatch OK, but it's going to be hard because you can't coordinate with the other players, especially in the objective-based games.

I use rarely use mine. I play a lot of Hardcore Team matches. I mute at least 3-4 people in each room I play in due to "breathers" and other people who wont shut up.

There is a game volume slider in the options.

I find the game to be very noob friendly compard to Gears. I consistently finish in the top 3 of CoD games. When I played Gears online I got owned constantly. It was soo bad I never played it again.

Most of my FPS noob friends who have been playing this have been slowly getting better. One of my friends hated it at first, cos he sucked. He would finish last every game. But I kept encouraging him to keep playing. Now he's the one bugging me to play all the time, and he never finishes last anymore.

Watch the kill cam, dont run around like crazy, slowly learn the maps and you will do okay.
