Call of Duty: World at War - Gen. Disc. & Info

If you pull the Recon Plane while you're running and apparently on top of an object such as a hill and jump off, your guy will start glitchrunning; like your thompson will keep resetting or shit. Don't know. If you can't download the beta, you need a gold account most likely.

I think the dogs are awesome if they're yours and total crap if you're being attacked by them.

We went back last night and had our usual COD4 game night and the one thing I was very aware of was that my choppers when I got them usually got around two kills tops before the entire enemy team blew them out of the sky. With the dogs they're a crap ton of them to where its not just one big target for everyone to shoot at. That, and you get points towards your team for killing them.
 
Does anyone still press start to look at the map when it's now mapped to d-pad up? Kinda makes sense that they finally mapped it to your controller, but it feels inconvenient.

I hope the update comes soon. Who knows how many challenges have gone to waste since i maxed at 11 a few days ago. Now it will take me longer than usual to rank up with those challenges beat.

same here... i hit 11 after about an hour and a half and the rest of the xp was wasted, i wont be playing again til later so hopefully its up by then

Spawn killing is killing this game for me. This one capture the flag match I played had the other team camping at many of our spawn points. Every time we spawned at those points, we got killed immediately. Spawn system really needs to be updated.

I have to say that I like the dogs but I think it's kind of cheap that 2 dogs can attack you from different sides at the same time.

The biggest disappointment with this game has been the large number of people (not really that large but much greater than encountered in COD4) in the beta that have modded controllers. The most unsurprising thing is that every one of them I've encountered and took the time to view their profile had an MLG gamertag.....just reinforces my thoughts that they are all douches.

If you go to your edit profile page, the code should be there. If not, just preorder the game at Gamestop, make sure your email address is in their system, and you'll get a code within 48 hours.

What I don't understand with that is those controllers would not be legal in an MLG/WCG match, so why would you use them online? Kinda defeats the purpose of "practicing for tournaments" if you're using illegal equipment that would get you thrown out if you showed up with it.

i actually first heard about people using modded controllers during a game on live, 2 people were talking about how they use their modded controllers to change a semi auto rifle to fully automatic, some shit like that.

i think its sad that people need to cheat to be good at a game, me personally i cant get at least 20 kills a game without cheating, that's close to 1/3 of the total score to win, but with online gaming there are always cheaters, i've seen the modded controllers online and on ebay, the cost is more than a year of live just to cheat online, people even sell General accounts for Halo 3 on ebay. Cheating should be left to PC's not gaming consoles. I hear people even hear for all you can quaff in castle crashers, thats sad indeed. real sad.
 
i been enjoying the beta so far, besides random pplz doing some glitch in Roundhouse where they can go under the map and shoot you. thats rather shitty to me
 
I am liking this game about the same as I liked COD4. It not better but more importantly...its not worse.

Although I am really hating those fucking dogs though. You get a pack in Hardcore mod and you will rack up kills with those things. They rape people.

I am not opposed to having them in the game, its a good idea but just having them be a instant hit is stupid. I wonder why they didnt just use the dog fight sequence that was in the COD4.

Agreed. The dogs are a good idea no doubt, but it is so easy to die from them. I once got killed 5X by the same pack of dogs.

Other than that, I think there might also be some type of problem regarding headshots. I find myself shooting someone 2 or 3 times before the shots register. Body shots are no problem, but they really need to do something to fix the headshots.
 
I was kind of on the fence about liking the game, but the addition of hardcore put me waaaay over the fence in the loving it category. I was tearing the other team apart. The first hardcore round I played I went 33-12.
 
My experience today with this game is also getting better. Less cheaters then I experienced before. I remember CoD4 having similar problems during its Beta, so hopefully these issues will be solved as well.
 
Does anyone else thing that snipers feel slightly useless? I'm not sure if that's due to no good sniping spots or the flash gives you away. It's kinda insane that a rifle, SMG, LMG, pretty much any other gun that isn't a pistol and pick a sniper from across the map. Also, spawn points don't help either since it forces you to move around the map. Maybe it's just the maps..
 
This game is EXACTLY like COD4. Ranking still sucks (level 1 versus a level 20 = unfair, level 5 versus level 30+ = ridiculous) and people still quit and there's no penalty. Pass.

How else do you want ranking to be like? Halo 3? Give me a break. If you actually take the time to rank up and get the guns you need, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Ok, well first and foremost. I find out exactly what I knew about COD4 Hardcore = the only thing worth playing.

That regular stuff when people are taking 10 bullets to the chest is so damn gay. But to answer your questions, yes they feel really useless. You can put a sniper scope on a bolt action in hardcore and pretty much be the same.

But at least they made it so that sniper rifles actually kill in 1 hit at least thats what I got from it when I was playing regular.
 
I really haven't even bothered trying to snipe. Sniping in COD3 was akward for me, and it didn't really feel right the few times I tried out the default sniper rifle. The scope moves around too much for me to really get a good fix on anyone.

That, and like someone else said, since I put the dot sight on my SVT I've been just picking people off left and right across the map, no scope required. Once I get the sight on my M1 it will basically be game over for the other team.
 
I'm finding the level differences in this game to much more unfair than CoD4. The M16 in CoD4 can hold its own at any level, but these early guns pretty much suck. You have to hope to kill someone else and take their gun to have any fun.

I'm not likely going to buy this.
 
The more I play this the more I am on the fence about it. I like the game but something about doesnt excite me at all. I really hate anything other than hardcore because the gimmick of regular modes worn off with COD4 and I am not going through it again.

There has to be one hell of a deal going on for me to pick this up. I am not paying more than 40 for it.

I'm feeling the same way, I'll probably play some tomorrow night but I really dont know if im going to buy it...at least not right away, I want to see what glitches are worked out for the full game, and if the fix the spawn points
 
Ok, having vehicles in this game is utter shite. I knew as soon as I saw a tank that this game was done for. But vehicles and one hit kill dogs? Super Shi-te Level 8.

Ugh.

The dogs only kill in 1 hit (unless you are already injured) in hardcore mode. It takes 2 hits from them in normal mode. Also the tanks are way underpowered compared to what they were in CoD 3.
