If you can, try going to a comic store and getting The Walking Dead: Compendium (if you can find it). Much better deal and collects issue 1-48 in one big ass set.
Paperback? Frowney face.
and bardockkun, if you haven't seen the Directors Version of The Mist (the one in black and white) it makes the movie that much more ing awesome.
Live action it looks like. I Loved "The Mist" so this makes it all the more sweet. Though something tells me majority of violence will be done off camera.
the mist was an awesome movie damn ending was the worst ( as far as wow that seriously sucks for that guy).
Did anybody read the new Ultimate Comics? I picked up both of them. I'm not exactly digging the new art style in Ultimate Spider-Man, and Ultimate Avengers is a perfect example of why writing for the trades is a bad idea. Don't get me wrong, I like both of them. I just didn't know how to feel about Spidey's new pseudo-anime art style, and Practically nothing happens in Avengers.
Also, what the happened to Ultimate Spider-Man? This feels like nothing happened after the whole "Peter Parker's dead" thing. I expected him to be presumed dead but was being groomed for something else in secret while the female clone took up the reins of being Spider-Man. Perhaps SHIELD. The Gwen Stacy girlfriend situation also screams "we're going to write a flashback story arc in the near future, so heads up." At least there's an interesting new superhero.
The primary reason I'm not continuing with the Ultimate line is the 33% price hike. $4 for a monthly title is unacceptable for me. As for Spidey's art, once I saw the giant oval head I knew it was bad news. I'm disappointed not to be getting Carlos Pacheco's art on Ultimates but it's tempered by the writing. I completely agree with you about the the writing being for TPB's and not the monthly books. Millar is one of the worst offenders. Of course, it's not all his fault. Most of the blame lies with Quesada and the accounting department. I'll dance a jig the day Quesada is finally gone as EIC.

Are you sure that these aren't oversized first issues? I didn't count the pages, but I just assumed that they were oversized. If it is just a price hike, though, that's just bullshit. I pay enough for GI Joe every time that comes out.
I remember when Ultimate Fantastic Four was $2.25. Good times.

Yeah, paperback, sorry. Told my friend about it as well and he was psyched for it until he found out paperback.
And yup, got it and seen it. Easily one of my favorite extra features in a movie and definitely gives it more of a different feel compared to watcing it in color.

I Liked the ending. I Know going in and seeing it in the theater NO ONE expected it to end so bleak. Especially with
the people that stayed being the ones who survived.

Nope, majority of Marvel Comics $3.99, which is ridiculous. I Can't even remember last time a comic from Marvel I got was 2.99 (hence why me buying Marvel Comics is down to 2-3 in a month).
That and Ultimatum was so terrible I'm afraid to go back to the Ultimate Universe now.
Has anyone read War of Kings? what did you think of the ending?
ive read some of it. im interested in whats going to go down with darkhawk still need to see the rest of the main story but the 4 dark hawk books were cool. right now im trying to make my way through the dark reign saga its spread over so many damn series but i like what ive read of it so far. cant wait to see
wolverines kids throw down.
blackest night is cool too but im more curious in how it will end as opposed to the ride to the end. red robin is getting interesting too as well as most of the batman series. its cool to see how people remember bruce and to see how his death and life touched so many people. kinda surprised alfred is holding it together so well.

You serious? I don't read anything but Ultimate and Marvel Zombies. I guess I should count the pages on Marvel Zombies 3 and 4. I thought they were all oversized.

DC's been slowly adopting the 3.99 price point as well. Though with all their 3.99 books they've been adding "content to make up for the increased price." Which basically amounts to a short co-feature in each book.
I think publishers are going to find that the $4 point is where they start pricing fans out of the hobby. It's chased me away to the point where I'm spending half as much on comics now as I was about a year and a half ago. $4 for 15-20 minutes of entertainment is just not acceptable. The so-called added content is just laughable and something that most people don't want. The chronic lateness of many books just makes it easier to drop titles. It particularly pisses me off when they jack the price of a single issue up to $4 or $5 and attempt to justify it by reprinting an old issue in it that I have no desire at all to read. Marvel really pushed me away when they jumped over the $3.50 point and went right to $4. If they want to try to screw me out of more money it's just not going to happen. I'll just stop buying the book (and have) altogether.

All I gotta say is Detective Comics is worth the 3.99 price tag. The most friggin gorgeous comic out the market right now in my opinion.

Agreed 100%!
Anyone else see the cover for Blackest Night 5, revealing who's the big baddie in charge of the Black Lantern Corps?
I'm intrigued by it being Nekron. It totally makes sense from what I remember about him, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where it goes. Guess we have an idea now about what the rings are charging towards with each heart they get, breaking Nekron out of his confinement.
This means the Siegels -- repped by Marc Toberoff of Toberoff & Associates -- now control depictions of Superman's origins from the planet Krypton, his parents Jor-El and Lora, Superman as the infant Kal-El, the launching of the infant Superman into space by his parents as Krypton explodes and his landing on Earth in a fiery crash.
Could you guys recommend me some X-Men comics? I really liked the artwork in X-Men #200. I'm a big fan of Gambit, so any collected editions focusing on him would be cool.

read the stuff thats going on with dark reign. very good stuff as far as older stuff the age of apocolypse was awesome and you cant go wrong with deadpool.

I haven't read it yet but I always hear Astonishing X-Men is great. I really enjoyed the Messiah Complex story arc. And if you're into Gambit I'm pretty sure he's currently featured in X-Men Legacy along with Rouge.
Finished a couple comics that were being disscused earlier in the thread. So I tought I'd chime in. Ultimate Spider-Man #1 is okay, still Ultimatum left a bad taste in my mouth. It's just wierd to have it skip ahead so far without any kind of transition (which is what I asumed Ultimate Spider-Man: Requiem was for) Didn't like the art style. It looks like a sloppy wannabe manga. Everyone's head looks weird. But I will say it's nice to see him back to status-quo.
I liked War of Kings #6. It was definitely an explosive ending. Black Bolt vs Vulcan was epic. My only problem was there wasn't much of an epilogue. But I'm sure this is what the "Who Will Rule" one-shot is for next month.
Batgirl #1 came out today and the new Batgirl has been revealed.
While I don't mind it being Steph, I do feel for the Cass fans on this one. Pretty weak way for her to give up the suit. Hopefully it'll be explained better in future issues.
I'm getting my comics tomorrow and of course the thing that kills my wallet is goddamn Daredevil for $5. It's probably going to be 32 pages of actual story and the rest is going to be a reprinted older comics. Goddamn Marvel.
BATGIRL #1
BATMAN STREETS OF GOTHAM #3
BLACKEST NIGHT SUPERMAN #1
POWER GIRL #4
ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #18
INVINCIBLE #65
DAREDEVIL #500 $4.99
ARCHIE #600
Though I already imagine Batgirl I'll get for first issue then drop immediatly after (kinda like Red Robin).
I Refuse to believe Archie ends up with Veronica. If anything I say it's all a fluke in the end and he continues being single and sassy for another 60 some years or so. I'm basically picking that up for my sister, but I'm a bit curious as well. Goddamn childhood nostalgia.
just read slavation run and loved it would have liked it to run longer but im left wondering wtf happened after that ? did all the villans just go their seperate ways like nothing happened?

Basically, it was during all the events after 52 (Death of the New Gods, Amazons Attack, Countdown) so it's really non continuity as far as Grant Morrison is concerned.

How's Dance by the way?
I don't want to spoil too much, but the way it's being handled makes it seem like it's more of a "what if" in Archie's life. That being said, I can easily see some hijinks going down and the wedding not going through.
Dance is ok. Honestly, I'm only buying it for my completionist ways. The plot has really only now started to get doing. Four issues is way too long to introduce the plot, especially when the entire series is six issues.
I Don't think it's hard to spoil Archie. Just like questioning if he'll make it to those two dates at the same time ordeal he always has to go through.
Daredevil 500 was amazing. Andy Diggle starts on the book with the next issue, and this was the perfect set up for his style of storytelling.
Also, it is definitely more full featured than the usual Marvel 4.99 books. It breaks down as follows..
40 pages of Return of the King conclusion
8 page preview for The List: Daredevil (Andy Diggle/Billy Tan)
14 page "lost" story written by Ann Nocenti and drawn by David Aja
11 page pin-up gallery
23 page Daredevil 191 reprint
5 page cover retrospective

wow that sucks but i guess doing something like that youd have to leave yourself an out considering how many villans died in it. question just read superman blackest night
who was that superman who got renimated with a black ring?
Sweet. Though I think as of right now all I'm looking forward to this week is Invincible.

It's not really a spoiler, but it's Earth-2 Superman who's basically the Golden Age Superman. He died during Infinite Crisis by Superboy Prime.

Didn't read it, but it was most likely Earth 2 Superman, who has had a Black Lantern action figure shown, and was killed during Final Crisis by Superman/boy Prime

I Think for me it was more I just got done reading Invincible and then I move to the way end of the spectrum with Archie and my brain kinda can't comprehend. Though it's just me and I'll still pick up the rest of the five issues in it.
And Blackest Night: Superman was good. I Like the fact that Blackest Night has an actual threat or challenge for all the heroes that you don't know how they're going to defeat it (if they can).
That comic you linked to does look pretty interesting. I'm definitely going to read that.
It's supposed to be up to issue 3 right now. So now I gotta go to my comic store and look for it.
i wish theyed hurry up and bring out that last part to old man logan. gotta know how that ends.
Should be next month according to the September Previews I believe.
