What's the spin off Blackest Night's like? The Batman and Superman ones? Should I be getting those too?
Yes. They're pretty good.
It changes depending on who's writing. The only constant is that it's in the midwest. Wisconsin and Indiana are the two most common states used.
That's one thing that's always turned me off about DC, even when I was a kid. They just made up cities and you didn't know where they were supposed to be. Even now, there's no definitive location for some of them.

Never bothered me. It really doesn't matter to me what state Metropolis, Gotham, Fawcett, etc. are in. As long as the cities themselves keep the same character. Plus while it's never nailed down, they're always in the same general area.
So I'm looking at getting a bunch of Hardcovers for the Ultimate Marvel series. I know a lot of people hated it but for me I enjoyed them enough. However, while researching I noticed that the Ultimate Iron Man Vol 2 Hardcover, every site lists it as Issues 1-4, but there were 5 issues. I however never see anything in the comments from people complaining about it being "incomplete". I'm curious as to if anyone has seen it or know someone who has it to know if it really is Issues 1-4 or if the publisher description is wrong and it just stuck around.
What sites have you checked? I don't think you'll have a problem. I'll try to remember to check a copy at the store tomorrow to make sure about the 5th issue.
Amazon, a few comic online shops and used the ISBN number to check www.addall.com to help me track down some more sites. I even looked at the descriptions for the Book Market Edition and the Direct Market Edition. First hardcover I've seen in the Ultimate Universe that had a couple different editions.
I haven't ordered from them before but they've been around for a while. I'm thinking about ordering Ex Machina vol .1 from them. If you know of any other sites that are cheap let me know. I'm always looking to save a few bucks.
They list Issues 1-4 as well. What sucks I didn't know about that place before. Woulda saved about 40 bucks or so. These are the ones I've ordered from a total of 3 places. Well 4 but I doubt the 4th order will go through.
Another site I thought of is tfaw.com. I've ordered from them twice during nick & dent sales and every item has been in excellent condition. The N&D items are usually really cheap as well. Ultimate FF HC vol. 1-4 N&D are half off ($15 each) at vol.5 HC is $17.49.
Well Old Man Logan's conclusion was everything I hoped for. Only complaint is the $5 pricepoint, other then that it was great story and the art was amazing.
Detective Comics just gets more and more beautiful.
I Bought it, but haven't read it yet. Man, the covers alone just get more and more gorgeous.

it was cool but i wont lie i was a bit letdown by it. seems like they may be looking t make it a series though with the way it ended especially since there are other villans left and if they do that then the ending isnt as bad since theres more to come. odd though i swear i saw another comic where a future wolverine raised a hulk child as his own. is this series and that one connected somehow?

The rather recent Mark Millar written Fantastic Four is probably what you're thinking. Yeah, there's like an underlying universe in all his Marvel stuff. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel takes the whole Old Man Logan universe and runs it to the ground like they did Marvel Zombies.

yeah the zombie storyline was very cool and damn disturbing during the first run now its kinda like ok now what? i hope they let it die already and give up on the whole alternate realities where they exist and dont exist its too much. not to mention i still dont see how people with healing factors would get infected anyway. i get all the good zombie i need from walking dead.

Fantastic Force is the limited series comic where wolverine has a hulk son.
I really shouldn't be adding more series to my pull, but oh well.
So I finally got back into Marvel much to my father's delight (I got into comic books because of him, but when I got a bit older I veered away from his Marvel influence and became a DC guy. I still prefer DC to Marvel so it's not a total win for him). The only question I have is where to start with X-Men? I haven't read an X-Men series since the 90s, so you might as well consider me an X newb at this point. So what's good with the mutants currently?
old man logan is awesome ( except for the ending ) most of the xbooks imo are pretty good due to the whole dark reign storyline i only got back into comics earlier this year myself i liking spiderman as well.
Whedon's Astonishing X-Men was good. I forget the names of the trades but there should just be a hardcover of the whole run.
Guess I'll go with this. Been recommended it a lot.
My week isn't so light unfortunately:
Batman: Widening Gyre #2
Blackest Night Titans #2
Gotham City Sirens #4
Green Lantern #46
Justice Society of America #31
Superman #692
Teen Titans #75
Wonder Woman #36
Astonishing X-Men will also start a new arc in October in issue 31 with Warren Ellis and Phil Jimenez. AXM isn't heavily tied to UXM and XML (as far as crossovers go) so it's a good standalone read.

Forgot about Gotham City Sirens. So I guess my comic count is upped to...Four.
Still not bad considering I got like three CD's I gotta pick up this week.
As awesome of an idea Marvel Zombies was back in its Ultimate Fantastic Four inception, I think the series has really run its course. I just finished the last Return book, and I now hate everything Marvel Zombies.
GI Joe: Cobra Special #1 was good, though. GI Joe continues to surprise me with the fact that I like the new continuity. I was one of those people who wanted to see the old continuity continue.
green lantern 46 was good but im kinda getting tired of the whle blackest night story i just want to know what its all about already and if once its taken care of those heroes who lost their hearts will they be gone or come back to normal and if some of those reanimated will return too. can someone explain to me how sinestro got his powers?
I'm sure this has been asked before (possible even by me XD) , but since a thread search comes up empty , and I don't really want to read back through the whole thread to check I'm gonna ask anyway.
What are some good/essential comic series collections that are worth getting? I'm familiar with some of the well known ones , but whenever I go online or go to Waldens/Borders/Barnes & Noble there are so many there I don't even know where to begin.
Currently I do own , V for Vendetta , Watchmen , Wanted and Batman : The Killing Joke. I'm fairly impartial with characters and stories so suggest away.
I thought Green Lantern 46 was excellent. The best BL book so far. Sinestro came off as the true bad ass he is.

I highly suggest Kingdom Come. Probably my favorite graphics novel.
I preordered a subscription to a new comic called Kill Audio. Its from the singer of Coheed and Cambria. The sub includes the regular cover and a variant cover. Of course there is also going to be an select comic shop only variant cover and a Hot Topic cover. My local shop wants $12 for their 1 variant cover. I can't decide if I want to get all the covers or not. My wallet will hate me if I do.
Would anyone here be interested in renting comics like Netflix? Either TPB's or single issues? What would you pay for something like that? How many issues/books would you think is fair per month? What would you not like about a service like this?
I'm not sure how well a service like that would do. A lot of the people I know that are into comics enough to be interested would just buy the ones they want. The others who are casual readers spend 3 minutes and download what they want. Me personally, I've been buying hardcovers of what is available. Not into the bag/board/box stuff.

Wouldn't that be like the library? I was able to check out all of Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, V for Vendetta, Persopolis, Maus, and Black Hole. Nice thing about the library, you don't have to pay a monthly fee.
I Bought all those damn issues since I liked 52. Little did I know that Grant Morrison would say that what little story that was to be had in there aren't continuity and it did nothing at all. Then again there wasn't really any story in Final Crisis itself to be had so hey! There's another one, Final Crisis (except for Rogue's Revenge, Legion of Three Worlds and Requiem).
And thinking about it now, I liked your Power Girl signature more. Especially after seeing her in Public Enemies.
I do too actually. Probably going to bring it back soon.
Almost as bad as Jeph Loeb's Ultimates and Ultimatum.
To be fair, Brian Michael Bendis helped set up all the events leading up to it for most part or was basically the big guiding hand. Though yeah, skeleton Wolverine stabbing Magneto, the fake out Spidey death and The Wasp's pure shock value death made it all total ass.

Sweet. My biggest complaint about her in Public Enemies was her soccer mom haircut and the fact she was basically total wuss. Either getting her ass beat or having to stand back and let the men do all the work.

Which is ridiculous. I mentioned it in the DCAU thread, but she's just as strong as Superman (if not stronger), leader of the largest and most respected team in the DCU, and one of the most headstrong personalities of any superhero. Having her be a damsel in distress is ludicrous.
