Rod, I feel the same way about Eaglesham's art. It can be very hit and miss. One thing in particular I don't like is how he draws Reed and Johnny as roided up freaks. I can see Johnny being in shape but not bulked up. Reed being stacked with muscles is just ridiculous. He's the antithesis of someone who would spend all that time in the gym. After all, he's always in his lab. The argument that his power allows him to be that big doesn't hold water because his mentality is such that he wouldn't even bother to be concerned about it. It's something so obvious I'm disappointed that at least the editor hasn't told him to make the change, much less Hickman or Eaglesham himself.
Well, that was quite the diatribe on the appearance of a fictional character.
I read it and really enjoyed it. Jonathan Hickman is doing some really good work right now with SHIELD, his run on FF and particularly Secret Warriors. The way he fleshed out some history of SHIELD and Hydra in the early issues of SW was very interesting.
I also read the first issue of Turf from Image last week. It takes place in New York during Prohibition with the added feature of vampires being in the mix. Solid writing and Tommy Lee Edwards' pencils really fit the mood and tone of the story. It's a 5 issue limited series and I definitely recommend checking it out.
I picked up the SHIELD issue today, and i have to say it's got me interested.
i wonder if they are going to stick with the only pencil art, or they were just doing that for the first issue.
On another topic, i really didn't like the end battle in Ultimate Avengers with Cap and red skull. Or the lack of end battle i might say.
I enjoyed the build up and previous issues to the story, but i just wish there was more fleshed out back story and epic ending.
anybody else liking the American Vampire series? this is the second series ive seen in a while thats really surprised me alot. the other being Sparta usa.
I've only read first issue of American Vampire, thought it was alright, but didn't reel me in as others have. I'll get second issue at free comic book day on Saturday.
Besides the usual free shit, mine has some local artists coming down, but that's about it. I Told my friend's about it though, but they can't make it so now I got to pick up three copies of the Lady Gaga comic for my friend's.
Can someone explain to me the appeal of Squirrel Girl as a comic character? Just can't get it...the character makes me want to punch kittens.
To answer an earlier question, while I dislike all things Apple, I could see myself using the Marvel Subscription to check out all the stuff I've missed of stuff I don't plan on collecting on my HP Slate while I travel...seems like the same concept as carrying an E-reader, except having multiple comic issues at your fingertips on the road makes more sense than multiple novels, unless you speed read.
And finally, even though no one asked me, can't wait for The Thanos Imperative...!
There is a Lady gaga comic? Why?
shes got enough rabidly loyal fans i could see something like that selling very well. no real comic collector would want one but to her fans its a must buy.
There is a Lady gaga comic? Why?
Same reason there's not only a Twilight comic but one based off of Stephanie Meyers herself; some people will read absolute crap as long as their obsession is in it, and there are always other people willing to exploit that.
kirkman is a genius
oh yeah no doubt about that because that took me completly by surprise. i cant wait to see how all this plays out. guess this series is going to go on longer than i expected.

kirkman and i actually use the same comic shop, no joke. ran into him wednesday afternoon when i was grabbing my books, theyre doing some inital photography for TWD tv series right now and theyre supposed to start shooting in june. he seems pretty stoked about the whole process

Not as stoked as I am that this is actually happening...!
Are they restarting Uncanny X-men and replacing it with Uncanny X-Men: The Heroic Age #1? I went to place my order and didn't see the normal Uncanny X-Men. I usually get one X-Men title and don't want to add an extra one.
I think i might enjoy Ultimate Avengers 2 with Miller on it.
Punisher is really gritty and hardcore. I think they even kept his origin story the same as the 616 version too. Which is good, since that didn't need to change to some lamer version to be hip with the kids.
Hey guys, My website (podcast) is giving away The Walking Dead Compendium, which collects the first 48 comics of the series. If you've never read the comic, this is a great way to read all these great stories in one sitting, before the show starts.
All you have to do is post something in the comments section. That's it, you don't have to listen to the podcast or join anything. The winner will be picked at random. It's open for week or so, so good luck.
That's what I was hoping. I'll pass then. The online pull list must not be updated or something. Thanks for the info.
He wrote the previous arc. It was aiight, but defentaly not as good as his Ultimates vol 1 & 2.
I enjoyed the last arc, but the ending wasn't what i would have expected.
To many Hulks in the Ultimate universe imo. Why not just have Banner? Which i miss alot.
batman and robin anyone? did not c that one coming
the identity of sexton was a surprise to me although i dont get
slades involvement last i heard he was a good guy and trying to do the family thing with his son.
i was more impressed with red robins outcome.
makes me wonder if ras is gonna give him talia or if he has another daughter.
that whole creepy wanting to get your daughter knocked up vibe is a bit much how you want to be he watches it all from a secret room? hes an amazing villan bt thats just too damn weird.
So has anybody read The Luna Brother's Girls series? I just recently read the first volume and was blown away. I really need to read the rest. I've got them ordered just need to wait on shipping (grrr). I haven't been this blown away by a comic since I ready Y the Last Man and The Walking Dead.

Thanks. Went ahead and left a comment. I've always wanted to get this compendium. I would've bought a copy at Borders if it wasn't all beat-up with a broken spine. It's tough to get into a comic that's almost 100 issues already. Buying 10 TPBs to catch up isn't cheap.
Figure I might as well listen to your podcast too since I'm on your site.
Read Siege 4 before reading any other Siege tie-in books.
If you ordered the Fallen one-shot have someone at your comic shop cover up the cover so you don't see it. The cover is a spoiler for Siege 4. Nice goin', Marvel.
Got my Kabuki Reflections Limited Edition hardcover today - with little sketch by David Mack - number 87/500.

That looked damn nice when I first heard about it. Love David Mack's artwork.

This is the same company that "leaked" Captain America's death week's before it happened to the media.
Also off topic, but recently bought Scott Pilgrim since the movie intrigued me enough and it's not bad. It feels like one of those comics aimed at children growing up with pop culture and video games. Only complaint is volume five of it felt a bit too, angsty I dare say?

I was spoiled on that end when i was ordering from midtown this week. Fallen one cover was shown bright as day.
I ordered it and read a download of it anyways, and now i wished i didn't order it cause it was lame. They need to start letting people who order comics preview them first, cause i keep getting burned on how crappy issues tend to get.
Seige 4 was lame too, totally inconsistent. Did not end as epic as i wanted it too. I guess after House of M, Civil War, and Secret Invasion everything right as rain now though.
I wonder what's going to happen next in the marvel universe?
I enjoyed Siege #4, New Avengers Finale, Wolverine #900 and The Return of Bruce Wayne #1 more than anything else this week. Sure, Siege #4 could of been better, but it did it's job.
X-Men Second Coming got ever slower this week. I hope the pace picks up in the coming weeks. Other stuff I picked up was Black Widow #2. Liu is doing a good job on less super "hero" in the book. I also picked up Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #10. I really dislike the art in the book. I miss Bagley and Immomen's art in this book so much. =/
Yesterday someone spoiled a major event in X-Men: Second Coming and today someone spoiled the reveal of Red Hulk. Grrrrrrr. Granted, Red Hulk has been pretty disappointing for the most part but I still didn't want to know who he was until I read it for myself.
ive known who the red hulk was for a while now and figured out who the red she hulk was a few pages into the recent hulk comic
( after what sampson said to the leader).
still hoping to see some interesting developements with ares kid. also wtf is up with warmachine is that series done now?
Yeah, the War Machine series is probably done for the near future. He's a member of the Secret Avengers and he is going to be in Invincible Iron Man quite a bit so he won't be off the face of the Marvel world.
My mail order comic service stopped their service to focus on a walk in shop! Well, I do any of you CAGs use a service and which one is it? Any help would be appreciated.
So, they finally revealed who Rulk & She-Rulk are. Still, they're not as bad A-Bomb.
Anyone else see the the hidden scene after the credits of Iron Man 2?
I got goose bumps when I saw Mjollnir

I've been using http://www.mailordercomics.com/ for a few years and save about 30% - 40% on cover prices. Only problem is you have to order your comics 3 months in advance. This sucks when you want to suddenly drop or pick up a title. But their online database is well organized and they carry just about everything.
I ordered from http://www.comicfusion.com/ for about a year. They were really nice folks. Bagged and boarded my comics for free. Just no discounts and they didn't have an organized online database. At the time I had something crazy like 30 subscriptions and would drop and pick up comics all the time. I was just getting back into collecting and was being indecisive about what I wanted. I would have to e-mail them revisions and sometimes it got a little confusing.

What issue is the reveal in? I hope it's not the Hulk series with Loeb and that cartoon artist. Just when i stopped reading that comic they go and reveal the red hulk.

I have been using midtowncomics.com after someone recommended them here. Pretty simple ordering on their site. Free plastic and boards. the comics are little cheaper so that the regular shipping equals it out, as if your spending the same amount if you were to go to a local shop.
Yeah, I used to use Midtowncomics.com before I started going back to my local comic shop. I just can't stand waiting 1-2 weeks to get my comics.
I miss going to the local shop for comics.
I only have to wait for a week now for midtown. I order on Tuesday and get them on Mondays, which isn't to bad i guess.
I tend to forget what i ordered, so opening the box is a surprise every time.
--Just read the red hulk reveal.
Son, i am disappoint.
They need to just send Hulk back to another planet again, if that's what they gotta do to get some good story telling going.
Jeph Loe is terrible. What he's done to the Ultimates should get him barred from ever making another comic. Ever.
Pretty big week next week. Avengers #1, Ultimate Avengers 2 #2, American Vampire #3, Joe the Barbarian #5, Walking Dead #72, Invincible Iron Man #26, DV8: Gods and Monsters #2 as well as more Second Coming. I might pick up Zatanna #1, but I'm not a huge DC super hero fan so meh.
