COWABUNGA DUDES! TMNT out now on XBLA - 400pts!
There were several differences in the SNES version... off the top of my head:

- Sludge monster boss replaced with Slash (on the "Prehistoric Turtlesaurus" stage)

- New technodrome stage

- Tokka and Rhazar as SNES-exclusive bosses

- another exclusive boss fight in which you have to throw foot soldiers "through" the screen to damage Shredder

- "Alien Rush" at the end of the sewers replaced by a more traditional boss fight, in the form of Rat King riding on a Foot-Ski

- Mode 7-enhanced hoverboard stage

- vs. Mode

- can select between two different color schemes for the turtles

- can select dash type (double-tap or hold forward)

Lots of good content added to the SNES version actually... althought the arcade version is still relevant due to some unique content, nostalgia, and of course 4-player.
But most importantly, the arcade game had the actual audio of the intro song done by that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Band, while the SNES did not. Pizza Pow-ahhhh!

And big thanks to RAMSTORIA for putting my birthday under his name. Thanks dude! I knew you wouldn't forget.

wow the new one has multiplayer over live... i wasnt expecting that.. awesome..

i tried the demo on pc and it was ok... ill pick it up regardless

edit.. crap.. thought you meant it did have multiplayer over live...i bet it wont have too many online features if any
Acclaim was just the publisher. just like Activision was the publisher of Marvel Ultimate Alliance. that doesnt mean they have IP rights to it. Marvel has all Marvel IP rights. Mirage Comics owns the IP rights of TMNT. whoever they want to devlop/publish it, can develop/publish it. im guessing ubisoft is involved because as you can see from the player selection artwork in the video they changed some of the artwork to mimic the new movie. cross promotion. not because ubisoft has any rights to the game. but because its better marketing. as for simpsons, Fox has all IP rights to it. they can dole it out to any dev/publisher they want as well. theyve even had the same game developed/published by 2 different studios just for different platforms before (case in point Simpsons Road Rage (THQ on DS, EA on xbox). as for the old arcade game; konami will always hold IP rights to the game itself. whether or not they can sell it depends on fox. i see no reason why they wouldnt, the movie's coming out soon.
Yes, but in many (most) cases, the company who owns the rights to an IP has an exclusive contract with a specific game developer to produce games using that IP. The NFL owns all their own IP, but EA has the exclusive rights to it now, and while the NFL may have some say in how it's used, they can't just up and decide to license out the IP to Midway, at least not until the agreement with EA expires. Owning an IP and owning the rights to market an IP are two seperate things.
yes you do need live..but you could just have a silver membership which will allow access to the marketplace..but being gold allows more access and exclusive gold membership downloads. you also have to purchase the market place points to download the games. i bought my 360 2 weeks ago and it did two things for me, killed my urges for a wii and gave me loads of fun on live. its worth a purchase imo.

You also need the gold version of Live if you want to play co-op online.
Thanks.

I guess I won't be getting one after all as I don't want to do subscriptions.

I don't know why so many people are so adverse to subscribing to live gold.

$35 a year is really not that painful. I bet most people spend more annually on chewing gum.

Hawt seckz all over my face.

$35?

I thought it was 50...

I just don't want to pay a subscription. I just don't agree with it. It's like minting money in my opinion.

Pay $50 for a game, pay $x/month to play it. No thanks, I'll just find something else.

Sorry, I just don't agree with subscription services like this.

Just curious, if I buy a subscription, get some Live games. If I cancel or do not continue my subscription, do I get to keep the games and play them?

You don't have to pay to play Xbox games, just to play them online or to download premium content. If you got an Xbox you could download TMNT with a silver account, you just could not play it online with other people.

And I agree with you not digging paying for Xbox live. I hate paying for it, but got good enough deals on my subscriptions that I didn't feel too bad about paying for it.

Yeah, and I hate paying for everything.

Anyway, finally got to watch that video with sound. That game's music is one of the best parts about it, so I'm glad to see that it seems to be intact - even the cartoon theme.

Unless they strip it out later just to piss me off.

lol yea... live is totally worth the money.... worth every penny even since xbox 1 days

cant believe so many cheap ass ppl (irony) that dont pay for it..lol

that game was great back in the day. it cheated like hell though. NES version was rough as shit (but as a bonus it had 2 exclusive stages).

gotta love TMNT

That's why I could never get into a MMORPG. However, when you're paying for a fully featured SERVICE that immeasurably increases the replay value of games you already have, all for the price of one last-gen game, it seems more than worthwhile in my opinion. But to each their own!

I totally feel the same way. I never once thought about it being unreasonable.

Live Gold is a steal in my opinion, after messing around with the online features on my PS3 and Wii.

XBL for life.

I remember, before I got an XBOX, for whatever reason I assumed that XBL was like $50 per MONTH. When I found out that it was actually $50 for the whole year, I was sold.

You seem to totally.... not get it.

Live Silver - Price: Free - Anyone can create an account and have it for free. Allows full access to Xbox Live Marketplace including trailers, demos, live arcade games, gamer pics, themes and more.

Live Gold - Price: $50 msrp for 12 months. (but easy to find for cheaper) - All of the benefits of silver, but you also get full communication (voice, video, messages, chat) and the ability to play multiplayer through live.

Like many of us are saying though, $35 is really not that much to pay for the ability to play so many awesome games with other people (and we are all cheap asses), voice chatting, video chatting, pictures messages etc. We all feel it's worth it. Microsoft actually is not gouging you, the Live service is extremely robust and expensive for them to maintain so they simply charge a little extra for those that hog up the most bandwidth.

It's rather easy to find year subscriptions to live for around $35, last I checked on ebay and amazon.

However, nearly every multiplayer game out there comes with free 48 hour memberships. So try those out. Buy gears of war, enter the 48 hour free trial, and play online with your friends co-op and versus. Then come back and tell us you don't think that's worth $35ish a year.

And let me just re-clarify that you can play your XBLA games when you're not connected to LIVE. Once a game is on your hard drive, it's there to stay.

So in this case, you could purchase TMNT (without a paid XBL subscription) and then enjoy local 4-player goodness all you want, regardless of your Live status.

unless your HD breaks and you need a new one like what happened to me

now i can only play when i'm on live

if the ethernet is unplugged, i can only play the trial versions of the games

Even at $50/year, that's only $4.16 a month, which is less than one fast-food "value" meal. I can understand people not wanting to do it out of principle, but the robust nature of the service has impressed me a lot.

Then again, this is CAG. If anyone is paying the full $50 a year, they need their priorites set straight. ;)

I did not know Silver was free.

It is not that I don't want to pay, it is that I do not care about playing games on line, at all. I feel I won't take advantage of the service to make it of value to me, for one or many games.

Right now, the only games I'm interested in are just Live Arcade games. Playing TMNT online does not excite me.

The Blue Dragon game has much of my interest also.

Thanks for clearing up everything for me, even though some of you seemed to get upset because I don't want to pay to play online games, when I don't want to play online games.

That's cool man. To each his own. I just want to leave you with one final thing though. I've known many friends that had the same view you do, and after getting some good online friends to play with they changed their minds.

Enjoy your 360, and I hope some day you give multi a shot, with a friend you know.

yeah i had the same view. i didnt really feel comfortable playing online games at all. I already made a friend from portugal playing Ridge Racer 6 and a friend from Mass playing Doom. For the first two people i met on live randomly..they were the nicest people i met talking through a game in general. some arent this nice or helpful when playing Counter Strike. if you ever change to Gold or would want to..i think just hitting up the CAGs here with our tags would make it feel more comfortable....but anyway back to the point..playing the XBLA offline still keeps its fun. Doom alone has kept me playing offline to finish the episodes and unlock achievements. you migh have fun with Cloning Clyde or Robo Blitz. those are pretty good indy games i would pay for IMO.

i guess it's the large initial cost that turns people off because it really is worth the 4 something a month. i know this but even i waited a while to get myself a renew card and only cause i managed to get it for cheap. you really do spend more on fast food a month than this, but you just never realize the year end total of that spending like you do with live.

I really need to juice up my Live account though. I have 2 1 month cards sitting here, but have been holding off cause I've been too busy / sick to play games offline, let alone burn that online time for nothing. ;)

That video brought back some of the best times of my childhood I cant wait for this game and live multiplayer is the shit. Definite purchase day 1 for me. Thanks for the video.

Oh, and some CAG advice to anyone who's still on the fence about Live. Always keep your eyes open at Target and stores like that, because you never know when you might stumble upon a Live Kit on clearance. A couple of weeks ago I found one for $15! That's a 12 month Live subscription, an extra headset, 200 MS points, and Bankshot Billiards 2 for XBLA (I think that's the equivalent of at least $10), ALL for a grand total of $15.88 after tax. Now don't base your expectations on that since it was a ridiculously lucky break, but just keep your eyes open because you never know what you'll find!
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/770/770555p1.html

Now OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED!!!!!!!

400 points!!!!!
2-4 player co-op over live!!!
Is coming this month!!!

Im guessing next week or the week after to coincide with the movie(as most of us suspected)

I was ready to throw down 800 on this so im pretty happy :)
it makes sense that it would come out this month, with the movie and all,but 400 points, thats great news

Twice? Psh, ninja please, I'm buying this thrice!

ermm...now that my excitement has caused me to make no sense...I will go do something else!

Fantastic! Now I just need to hold out a bit and see if the NES version is going to hit too... although, with them both being ~$5, I might buy it twice that way if it shows. ;)
If it's got 2-4 player co-op over live, can I assume that you can play 2-4 players locally on one system with 2-4 controllers??
I'd hope so. I don't have much use for it now, but once my internship is over and I'll be closer to all my friends again for our last year of school, that would be necessary to play. ;)

When the hell are they going to fix that? That is big problem.

LOL NO MULTIPLAYER AT ALL ?!?!?!

Where's the sense?! Even if it was at the VERY LEAST 2 players local, I'd be OK with that!

If anything, it SHOULD be 4 players local due to the fact that the game IS a 4player game!

MAKES NO SENSE.

How do these things happen?????

That arcade port has multiplayer.

Oh well my bad I didn't click on the link. Just figured since this is the XBLA thread! Well, that's good that multiplayer is in the game!
