So how you likin' the game, Possum? Worth paying money for?
okay, after an hour or so, I'd say it's definitely worth the money, if you rip it and patch it with the translation. you can't play quest mode without it (since potions change effects with each play.)

maybe story mode would make it worth it too only if you love Tobal, but would like a deeper fighting system with it (and 2 new characters. once again, if you have a patched quest mode, you can unlock 200+ more characters for story mode.) I swear, the juggles take third strike-style timing

this can be had for pretty cheap now, so I'll recommend you pick it up. it's better than I remember it being...

The 360 D-Pad is gonna have alot of trouble with Fatal Fury Special. I was playing my copy of FF Collection Vol.1 With the PS2 D-Pad I was having difficulty pulling off some DMs. Even some anti-air moves are difficult to preform 100% of the time cause the motion. Which normally goes: D,DF,F,UF. as oppossed to the normal F,D,DF motion.
SFEX2 does not :(
if that's true then turn that frown upside down

http://youtube.com/watch?v=b3ELj2c80eM
geez, didnt that game jus come out?!?!

now it's already broken!!

that game looks dope, but I doubt they'd tweak it since they didnt tweak Hokuto no Ken (or did they??)

I've been halfway burnt on XBLA fighting games in the past. Street Fighter II Turbo had issues but at least I could configure the buttons for my DOA4 stick, UMK3 was terrible because (unless it's been patched since I stopped playing it), you can't switch button assignments. Honestly, I know these are older ports but what kind of programmers did they hire? Foreigners?!
NO!!!!

MetalSLUG.jpg

here's hoping this dosn't happen to KoF DS... and I am still waiting on my replacement for Cardfighters... it's so good, but I can't play it till it's patched.
I kind of figured this was coming eventually. I mean, I hadn't heard anything about the game in ages. On the other hand, the PS2 Metal Slug collection is pretty good. It would've been a riot to see Metal Slug on a GB Micro screen though.

I like that game-- super cancels are fun :)

i forget who did SF2, but Digital Eclipse did MK....they're minimalists  1 stage in online? Boo-urns.

i forget who did SF2, but Digital Eclipse did MK....they're minimalists  1 stage in online? Boo-urns.

Actually, all the stages are present in online (with the proper Kombat Kodes). I'm pretty sure that the reason for the same stage appearing over and over again is because that's the 1st stage of the game everytime you load it up, and instead of keeping any kind of game memory in cache, developer Digital Eclipse just resets the game for every online match, therefore reseting the stage cycle to "Scorpion's Lair" everytime.

Unfortunately, this problem could have easily been avoided if they just would've devoted a couple of KB to keeping track of the stage cycle. Either way, I agree with you that one stage bites the big one.

Speaking of UMK3 though, let's play that soon. Haven't played in awhile.
I might skip out on Fatal Fury Special. Playing 3S online on the 360 D-pad annoys me enough.
yup, can't wait till the VF sticks come out. wish we could play each other in that :whistle2:(
Fatal Fury Special better be 5.00 dollars, or else pretty much no one is going to buy it (except for Rolento)
yes, yes you are right... if it's a brawler or fighter on XBLA... I'm there... whenever I get a PS3, first purchases for me will be Tekken DR, MKII, and VF5 (unless it's out on 360 by then).

I hope the VF 360 sticks will be easy to get.

Well, you know the right thing to do, Rolento. I think the rest of us have been playing SFAA for the last year though

Anyway, enjoy it. They did a phenomenal job on it.

well, I did just start KoF 2006/MI2 today... fun, but more of a passover.

good weekend for CAGs.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those of you, like me, who have yet to pick up SF Alpha Anth, this monday at TRU, it's 10.98 >_<
I thought all fighting game fans who had a PS2 picked that game up :)

I agree with Chac, Cacpcom did a hell of a job with that collection. All of the ports are top notch, even though I really only play SFA2 and SFA3. Also you gotta love the extras they threw in as well, multiple versions of the SFA games for instance.

I decided not to pick up KOF 2006 today. I already have enough fighting games to play as it is, let alone ones I'm not 100% sure about.

Also Markman, I ran into my friend Kris (aka Kristianator on CAG) at a local arcade tonight, who mentioned that you are a beast with King in T5. Any truth to this? :)
I don't know about being a beast... but he's my favorite character :)

We'll see how I do at EVO West...
Well, he mentioned you were very good with him. The comment popped up when I played a couple matches of T5 against him the other night. He played King and was tearing my Marduk up.

Anyone else hate this time of year? fucking allergies.

Speaking of 3S. Feel like schooling an old man? I've been playing off and on but I'm not anywhere close to moving away from scrub status.

Sure, if you wanna play 3S I'll hop on XBL right now.

On an unrelated note, playing with low-tier characters in MVC2 is unbelievably fun.

tHe eDitZZZ: Sorry Depascal, I won't be able to play 3S right now. I'm leaving in half an hour to go see the new Pirates movie. Hit me up any other time if you feel like playing.

playing lower tier characters always has a greater and more satisfying learning curve than higher. Usually the high tier characters are a pain to learn or are too easy to pick up... but low tier is learning without the seriousness :)

hahah, i like playing high tier instead. low tier, it's usually the same strategy all the time... dashing shorts, super jump crossups w/ assists. if you play against a team with a top anti-air assist, it's so hard to do anything.

that said, the only low tier i like playing is sakura, especially when she gets sunburned. it's fun to go nuts with teleport. it's also fun to beat high tier with low tier, i used to be able to do that... taking out scrubby msps with team shoto in 2002. hahah.

Yo people, I realized I still have that Tekken Collector's Case that came with the Tekken Stick... y'know, the thing that holds all the Tekken games. Well, I don't have any tekken games and the thing is still sealed and all that and it's not doing me any good. If anyone wants it for like... I dunno $5 or something, lemme know.

every time I hear the words "Team Shoto" in MVC2 (or CVS2), my mind pukes a little bit. I can understand the appeal of an all shoto team to people just picking up the game, but I've played people who are better than average picking that team.

my CVS2 isn't high tier but it's definitely no low tier either (N-Iori, Cammy, R2 Blanka). in MVC2 though, for some reason I enjoy playing the low tier peeps. I'm still working on getting a team together to support Sabretooth ('nerfed from XVSF) and Marrow seperately.

today I spent about 2 hours at an arcade messing around in MVC2. spent about $2 messing around with a team of Shuma/CapCom/Cable. so much fun and hitting that 6-8 hit air combo into Chaos Dimension makes me laugh a little bit. I might be sticking to this team for a little while.

can't wait to see upscaled KOF 2006. should look nice :)

(and i'm keeping my PS3...Rodimus, send my VF5 back!)

but mvc2, i thought they were notorious for being terrible. they're not that bad, but they have no mobility. ken and akuma have the magic series into air hurricane, and both ken and akuma have decent assists... akuma expansion, ken aa or expansion.

i dunno. i never really practiced with them. i used them when i got big-headed because back in the days i loved to embarass people. me and my friend, we'd see some guy trying to play high tier or thinking he was all good... one of us would play him, kick him off, and then just leave. we were such jerks. =P

I've seen a lot of great C-Ken and N-Akuma players. I'm not knocking people for throwing them into their team, I just don't get the teams with all 3 shotos.

Beating someone in MVC2 with Dan or Roll. Now that's jerk status right there :)

I suddenly like Dee-Jay a lot more...

Apologies if this is old, I thought it was pretty win. >_>
I wish my trades ended up like that... plus I would've used the $600 also. either that or I'll just buy a fleshlite.
WTF?

I obviously am late to this thread.

I hear fleshlites feel like dead hookers once they cool down.

okay, that was totally uncalled for.
Srsly? I've got my credit card in hand now, so if you're serious I will buy right now. Is it cheaper used?
yeah! You can find some good used ones on Craig's list.

C'mon guys. Let's get serious. Unless you're gonna fight with said fleshlite, keep it to yourselves. On the other hand, I have several fleshlites that are basically new on my tradelist. Only opened it to see if everything was there and functional......it's like I've never been in it...ummmm, yeah. So, you gonna pay in cash?

Paypal. I'll buy it if it hasn't been used much, but you hafta get delivery confirmation. Also, do you need to declare this item when they ask you if you're sending something potentially hazardous?

lolol...

If anyone is interested in an HRAP3, its on sale at High-Score Online's site... 92 shipped around the US... cheapest price you'll ever see it on the net...
Why did they make an Art of Fighting Collection and not a Last Blade Collection for the US?
Because SNK are idiots regarding the american market.
Why did they make an Art of Fighting Collection and not a Last Blade Collection for the US?
here's my diatribe about that from the AOF deal thread (in response to someone who said this game was put out to "test the waters." as if SNK hasn't been around for a few decades in the U.S. and aren't already past their prime completely):
therein lies the problem-- nobody cares about Art of Fighting. It was never popular to begin with. The only collection that would do worse is a Aggressors of Dark Kombat/3 Count Bout/Kizuna Encounter 3-pack. Not sure if a World Heroes collection would do better or worse...anyway, I didn't even know part 3 came out until I saw it in MAME. Why don't they just release the good games...it feels like every game they put out is just there to "test the waters." Bring on KOF:XI, NG:BC, SS6 and Tenkaichi, Last Blade collection etc.

theory: they don't actually test the waters. they're just fucking lazy and never listen to their fans.

While AoDK and 3 Count Bout were abysmal, Kizuna Encounter is gold... but nobody has ever heard of it, so yeah... it'd sell horribly... what I wouldn't give for Windjammers on PS2 though...

yeah, it's pretty good.

windjammers, eh? So that's what the kids are calling it these days...
