^^^ sexy!!!! I actually enjoyed only having to manage 2 characters. I don't like managing characters that I don't use or only use for certain battles.

Thanks for the post about the monsters and how you don't use them. That's the one thing I haven't invested any time into. I'm at 136 fragments and was going to start tinkering with monsters before doing these last few final battles but I think I'll pass now

There will be upcoming DLC at the end of the month which will feature Sazh. I loved him so personally, I'm stoked! It'll only be $5 (400 MS points).

With that said, I finally beat the game last night and just turned the game off after the credits. I was kinda annoyed at the ending. >_>

I've got a feeling the Sazh stuff is going to be limited to Serendipity. $5 is extremely cheap for story based DLC which gives me a feeling that SquareEnix isn't charging a lot for it because there won't be anything there other than Serendipity.

If you read the fragments, for most of the game Sazh was in Serendipity (besides the obvious parts where he wasn't), so it makes perfect sense, especially because this also adds new games to Serendipity as well.

I bet this DLC ends up clocking in at only a few hours and is heavily story and casino based, which doesn't excite me that much as I hated all parts of Serendipity.

Did nobody read the article I linked? :p

"The scenario includes two new card games, 'Chronobind' and 'Serendipity Poker.' Complete the episode, and Sazh can join your party."

That is why the Sazh DLC is so cheap.

The ending made my face turn red. I was pissed.

Wonder what his role will be. He was pretty balanced overall. I am guessing Synergist.

Guess I must be the only one who kind of enjoyed the ending. Finished it last night and I pretty much loved it. Felt like the ending to a big movie series that should get you hyped for the next film.

Other games do similar things as well, they just don't end it with "To be continued...", it would just show the scene, then credits.

I can see why people didn't like it, but all it did was make me start questioning the next game. And I hope it's a next game, and not DLC.

IMO there were only 2 ways to rationally explain the ending:

1) Milking us for DLC, which seems the more likely

2) They are going for the whole trilogy aspect with this.
Doing the whole good guys are down at the end of the 2nd part and rise in the third one and conquer evil. They did register a domain for XIII-3 after all.

Still doesn't change the fact that I didn't care for it but as long as I get more XIII, I will be happy in the long run.

I would hate for DLC to finish the story to the game. I think there's plenty they could do for a new game with how the game ends. Or at least my interpretation of what the game ending is.

Plus,
was so happy that Serah died. Absolutely despised her character the entire game. I was alright with Noel, but have no problem if Serah made no appearance in the next game. Though, I think she will....

Did you see the ending with after the credits? The one where you have to have all 160 fragments?

I'm of the opposite belief. I enjoyed Serah as the main character this go around after not being the main in the first game. They did a good job of making her tougher from the onset. I liked her chemistry with Noel a lot. Way better than any chemistry with her fiancee Snow. That said I did miss being able to play as badass Lightning, aside from the beginning. :whistle2:(

Nope. Bout to try and get the rest of the Paradox endings and fragments. I think my main disappointment with Serah and Noel is that nothing really came from it. I was hoping for a love triangle thing to occur with Snow.

Yeah I saw it, sequel guaranteed.

When I got to the part the guide labeled as final episode , I took a break to play mass effect 2 again. the first time I played it on the computer, but had played the first game only on the 360. I decided I wanted to import my me1 shepard so I got it on360 also. And with me3 around the corner I needed to get it done. Now I'm not sure how I can finish both in time. Should I wait for the dlc that SE claims will tie up some loose ends or just get it over with?

Decided to beat it after reading how lame the sazh dlc is( its only card games). I was actually at beginning of ep5, So I finished 5 yesterday, and am at 137 fragments. I know I can get another 8 at least today, but not sure if I want to get to 159 this weekend or save it for another time when ill go for the ridiculous monster professor fragment.

I just beat it straight and go back to it from time to time to do the side content. There's nothing of value coming from the story of this game, so the endings and character cameos don't concern me a whole lot.

You could probably find every possible question & answer online.

If you have the guide book, finding all the monsters is pretty easy. Just turn on encounter master and battlemania fragment skills. I only had to look for about 10 monsters that I missed. Xiii-2 is probably one of the easiest Platinum trophies I ever got.

Just finished the game last night. I ended up with 89 fragments. I'll wait for some actual significant story DLC before I go for anymore fragments and side content. I really hope Square Enix doesn't make a Final Fantasy XIII-3. Just milk your customers for like $15 and finish off the story with DLC.

My major disapointment with the game was the god awful Temporal Rift puzzles and my own failure at properly raising monsters. Those mog clocks are just nightmares. I did manage to max out a Behemoth with using nothing but strength and potent upgrade materials making things much easier, but I waited until the end of the game. I wish I didn't just upgrade Noel, Serah, and my monsters recklessly.

The next xiii-2 DLC has been announced for release on March 13. Jihl Nabaat from Xiii will be available for purchase as a Coliseum battle.

Also a special DLC release during Mid-May will be available detailing the fight between Caius and Lightning called "Lightning's Story: Requiem of the Goddess." This DLC should explain more on why...
lightning was turned into crystal during the ending

It doesn't look like xiii-3 will be coming out based on the DLC schedule and what Toriyama has stated about the ending. Famitsu has also stated this will be the "first" of lightning's story DLC to come.

This game is boring me fast with the lack of boss fights. Every time it looks like you're going to have a tough fight, they either force you to water it down or I'm simply overleveled from trying to get rare monsters and just rape it with relentless assault all the way. I'm loving the customization to toy with, but without any real challenges it's like bringing a gun to a knife fight. From what I understand I can go back and challenge myself after beating the game, but wtf is the point of playing through the whole game then? Why not just start me at the end of the game if there's no challenge until then. Serious balancing issues make me sad. . .

The story as usual is dumb with a 'cry me a river until I don't care anymore' plot. And my god is the music bad lol. No way I'd listen to it on my own time and it's only palatable due to the fact you can tune it out while exploring. In fact, the first time I started enjoying it was when I got to the Steppe where they had recycled music from XIII. Whatever, just started chapter 4 and hopefully it gets better. Not holding my breath.

Make sure you're playing on Normal, not Easy.

It's an easy campaign, but you'll find challenge when you stray from it. Collecting monsters, finding treasure, and revisiting re-imagined locales from the original game was enough for me to enjoy, but the bosses and overall lack of difficulty is indeed probably the game's biggest weakness.

XIII-2 is definitely nonsense in terms of story, mainly the ending, though I found Noel and Serah pretty likable. And like the story, I also wasn't as impressed with the music this around either -- though to call it "bad" is a far reach, I think we were just spoiled coming from XIII. I'm greatly fond of quite a few XIII-2 tracks myself, perhaps I'll find time to find my favorites later.
Make sure you're playing on Normal, not Easy.
You know me better than that. If there was a nightmare mode, I'd have chosen it to start with. ;)

I'm just tired of Japanese storytelling where you play emo characters. I think it's mostly due to the advancements in presentation, with having voice-acting and all. It's the same reason I don't watch much anime anymore.

On the same note, the music is constantly ruined by vocals. It's so out of place and really breaks the mood when I'm just trying to grind. Good music just soothes and doesn't take away from the gameplay. Like I said, the first time I started to enjoy myself looking for rare monsters was in the Steppe because they just recycled music from XIII.

Whoops, guess I shouldn't have quoted that spoiler. Oh well, not like I care what happens anymore since I'm struggling to to just finish the game. So basically they're charging you for a proper ending in DLC? Here I thought I might actually buy DLC for once but this game has just bored the fuck outta me without any real challenges. I think I'll just finish the game tonight and say to hell with the plat because I might not bother finishing it otherwise.

I think the real problem here is they tried to cram so much content into a short game that you end up getting sidetracked only to find you can roflstomp your way to the end afterward. I mean, my guys are stage 17 already and I'm not even done with the Steppe yet. This is mostly because they force you to farm the mobs here for the potent items so I can level monsters. Just makes me sad because this game could have been so good with proper pacing.

lol so what do you want us to say? reviews including my own were warning signs of the issues you have with the game, and i know you thought its predecessor was sub par as well -- so you had it coming!

It's Final Fantasy, so no review will deter me (I don't read many regardless). I'm just disappointed because it's the first time I've had a hard time finishing one of their games. XIII sucked hard for 11 chapters, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just not seeing it for this game sadly, despite having so much good content just mashed in.

I guess I'm glad I only paid $15 for this game b/c from what I'm seeing there is a crapton of DLC. Why didn't SE do some kind of season pass to get everything?

Famitsu shows new costumes, Serah gets some kind of jean short outfit, while Noel gets Ezio armor from Assassin's Creed, specificially his grey outfit from Revelations.

Lol, why are they doing all these costume tie-ins? Makes no sense other than moneygrab.

Finished the game and the ending was a pretty big fuck you. It seems to me that they were trying to recapture some of Chrono Trigger by adding all the paradox endings, but honestly the characters aren't even memorable enough to be in the same league as that game. I must admit, the most fun I had in the game was when I challenged Yomi to a fight because it's easily the toughest battle in the game. Other than that, just a mindless grind to the end.

And who the fuck came up with these trophies: 10k steps while riding a chocobo? Did they just think we'd accomplish this somehow during the span of the game? I don't think it's possible even if you were skipping trash everywhere you went. MAYBE if racing them counted, but nooooooooo. So stupid.

I thought I read in another thread there is not goting to be a -3 so they are just releasing the actual end as DLC or something. pretty sad about that On a lighter note I can just put both of the games into my 13-2 steel case now :)

Yeah, even if they did I wouldn't want to play it. The way this game ended set the stage of the impossibility for a proper ending, or at least one that would be satisfying. The problem with this game is it believes in a liner timeline, where everything is connected. Once you open that can of worms, there can never be finality to the story.

I'm loving this way more than FFXIII and I'm in Ch 4 also. I agree that the bosses are too easy. I've cruised through it so far with no problems except for those behemoths they throw at you.

Those guys are only hard if you don't have a turtle setup for his hardest hits, but you'd never think to have one when you can cruise control through with relentless assault. I think the first time I saw a game over was when I underestimated one of those ha. It just underlines how badly balanced the curve is when you're playing through. If they had put some real effort into scaling the enemies or capping progress like FFXIII did, I think this game would have been incredible.

You should be good with that combo I just picked up this game I am at chapter 5 now. Just use paradigm shift a lot and I mean a lot every time he uses some big damaging move. I barely made it through the fight but had a sen/sen/med or sen/med/med for when he would cast something huge and would switch to the one needed. If I was super low sen/med/med if not then sen/sen/med. If you need more help feel free to PM me or add me on the psn Microprobe

So I started this, and can someone explain to me how in the first hour

Different timeline? Can't remember. The story is nonsense.

lol no I remember it very well, just not the townspeople's reactions. i didn't find anything confusing about it, though.

i was more surprised how non li'cie could suddenly use magic. real graceful, square.

Well no one in town is talking about it. Not even the main characters. It's just...
back, like it didn't happen. Oh, and Serah being completely nuts. The fact that it retcons the terrible ending of XIII...makes sense, but WHY IS MADE OUT TO BE CHEERFUL?

Nothing was wrong with XIII's ending, XIII-2 just changed everything it stood for. It's like X-2 all over again, I wouldn't give it any serious thought.

There are two Bodhum timelines you can visit at that stage in the game, I think. One where Cocoon doesn't exist, and another where it's still there. Shit phases in and out of places it shouldn't be, which are the paradoxes. Can't be of much more help from there, lol. I was never confused on the story until the ending. Well, it made sense, but it was impressively dumb.

I thought XIII's ending was empty myself and lacked closure.

And I never beat X or played X-2, so I don't think I can compare
even though I know X-2 was about Yuna finding Ghost Tidus

I thought FF13-2 story was a lot better than XIII. I didn't even understand exactly what was happening when I was playing XIII @_@

Lol, you're going to hate this game.

I didn't...hate XIII's story. I just hated the people and Gods involved in said story. Except Sazh...until they ruined him by making him the comic relief. And the villain was terrible. 'I WILL KEEL YOU, but kill me first, kay?'

BTW, I have seen the ending. But I imagine I'm missing all of that lovely context leading up to it that will make it so much worse
including Lightning frozen in Carbonite.
I just hated the people and Gods involved in said story.
Thankfully XIII had nothing to do with Gods, just the earthly Fal'cie. It mentions the "Creator" once, but the game is entirely focused on mortals. XIII-2 on the other hand...I'll just reiterate what Jodou said -- you're going to hate this game.
Except Sazh...until they ruined him by making him the comic relief.
He was funny throughout the entire game, his personality remained as goofy as it was portrayed in the Hanging Edge when you got off the train.
And the villain was terrible. 'I WILL KEEL YOU, but kill me first, kay?'
I hate creativity too.

I'm just putting in terms that normal people understand. Fal'cie were Gods. They were dicks, too.

I went through Chapter 2, which was the demo. The only new part to me was
the fact that I got the Cinema Action right this time...which promptly got me arrested. :S
