Deal in title starts tomorrow. Not sure if it's all stores, but but the manager at the one by me said it should stack with edge- he also let me hold about a dozen dvds (ATHF box sets will be like $3 after all discounts) Happy Hunting-
Last night I discovered that one of my local stores is a GB/GBC dump store. They had a couple of drawers under the glass GB counter case completely full of games, all just thrown in there. The games apparently hadn't been touched in a long time, and there must have been 400+ total. They let me rummage through them, and I ended up paying $54.25 (in cheap trade credit from flipping) for the 49 games below. The manager was all excited because I was bringing up her ratings for total items sold per transaction or some such. I think I'm going back for some more stuff today or tomorrow. :D

I'm really loving this sale!
What was the location? I'm thinking about making a trip tomorrow through TO/Westlake, just wanna make sure I don't hit a barren location!
If you were talking to me, I'm in St. Petersburg, FL, so I'm pretty sure you're okay. ;)
WOW. Up for trading any of the ones I've highlighted?
Thanks, but I got them to keep, so they're not up for trade.

Checked out the only GS in my area that stocks dvds, apparently, they were part of the sale a few weeks ago, and now they're not? And just when they got a huge shipment of dvds too, a bunch of box sets that would have been a steal at 75% + 10% edge off. Maybe this location is a dump location or something?

I have NO idea how you guys scored so many GB/GBC games. Only ones I saw were a few licensed titles/shovelware, sports games and extremely dirty copies of Pokemon or Harvest Moon. This was at like, 3 stores too and not all carried the GBC games still. Good finds though.

Sale on DVDs and HD movies is over. Maybe a mod could adjust the title of this thread?

Most of us who scored ridiculous amounts of GB/C games have spent waaay too much time hunting them down. I personally have been to around 20 different locations. Karky has been to more, I think. I would keep going but there just aren't as many GS locations in georgia as there are in California.

I just went to 1 store and I got a pretty nice haul :)

I lucked out and found a "dump" store, which means that most of the stores in the area transferred their stock of GB/GBC games to this one store. Gamestop often seems to do this with clearance items; a different store in my area got all of the DVDs.

I was told by one of the local GS's that the local Dump store is the one in the mall, but the friggin workers are too lazy to put the games out!! I guess they have several tubs full in the back!!

Brother you gotta go in there and tell them to bring those boxes and tubs full o' GB/GBC games out so you can go through them. If they don't want to, get the manager, and if he or she's being a bitch, get the district manager's contact info. But try to kill 'em with kindness first, tell them if they pull them out for you to go through, you will give them a glowing review and get their sales numbers up.

As for how I scored the amount of games I did, well, it was over a 4 week period or so, and I just hit all the stores in different areas when I was in those areas for business. I planned it out by checking online inventories for which stores in the area had the most GB/GBC games listed, then hit a group of stores in that vicinity. Probably hit a couple dozen, maybe more.

I just hit a very local store today because I was right by it (shipping out Penguin's Zelda Link's Awakening and Megaman 3), and finally found a store with 2 Gameboy Color units. Also picked up another Pokemon Silver. That was all this store had. BTW, the Gameboy Color units do NOT have the Edge discount, so they were "only" 75% off and hence $2.50 each. Still a steal if you ask me. Now my baby can wreck one if she wants while "playing" the Disney and Elmo games I picked up.

What I did was walked into the store, asked for the games, the employee printed out a complete list of games for me, I marked down which ones I wanted, wrote them on a piece of printer paper, gave it to that employee, told him I'd be back, went food shopping, came back, checked the games, he rang me up, I paid, I left.

Very simple for me. May head back before the sale ends sometime in mid-January (thats what the employee tells me)

I'm not sure why this sale would end considering its been an ongoing clearance, first at 25% off (I think), then 50% off, now 75% off. If anything it will go up to 90% off or they will ship away all the games.

I dunno... but when I called to make sure the sale was at 75%, the guy said that they had the sale and it would go on until january something. I believe he said the 20th or so.

I was told by one manager that the next step will be shipping games away. So get 'em sooner rather than later. It would be funny to see them for 90% off. "Ok, so with your Edge discount, that would be 0.00. Debit or credit?"

I also remember at one point there was a B2G1 or B1G1 on them too? Eh, not but nothing pops up like 75% IIRC, these things dont usually go past 75%, or if they do, I havent expereinced any yet since they're all gone by this point.

They won't go 90%. After sitting at 75% off for a couple of months, everything went field destroy and getting anything became YMMV. Technically, they pennied out, but most stores just trashed everything immediately to free up space. Sure, they look small, but when there's an inventory of a few hundred...thats when they get into people's way. ;)

Damn, I remember field destroy. We did it last Christmas in my store with all the older sport games like Madden 2000. Several of us lowly employees asked if we could have a copy, but the DM gave orders NOT to give any of us a free game. Instead, they were all destroyed.

Really nasty, Gamestop. And during the holidays? Shame.

If you think that's bad, I was talking with some employees of the huge, 2-story Gamestop in NYC. They were telling me about when they had to field destroy all the PS1 games, including FFVII, and mint/gutted copies of the Lunar games. I wish I had known when those were being cleared out, I would have bought a ton for my own collection.

But if it looks like these are going to get dumped after the 20th, I may just need to clean my local store out. I hadn't picked up duplicates of anything, but I'd rather buy all the copies of Final Fantasy Legend, Wario Land, and Pokemon Red/Blue rather than have them sent to a landfill somewhere.

This sale will last for some time, as did the PS1 and N64 sale a few years back. I went to a few Gamestops last year that still had an ample collection of older gen games. I wouldn't worry about this ending anytime soon. And can confirm that the games will be sent to other stores in your area before being destroyed.
what system's next, gba, gamecube, xbox? even if its not for a while
my guess would be gba.

Since the DSi takes out the GBA slot and is starting to do away with GBA games.

Xbox and GC games can still be played on their next gen systems, so I don't see them cleaning those out for a little while..

Ok, so I went to my local store and spoke with the manager. She looked at me funny when I named the store, and said "they aren't in our district. Which means I'll have to call my DM and RM and go through all of this for one GBC game".

I was like ok, do what you can. I got the impression that I won't be getting Survival Kids anytime soon :(. I could possibly make a huge stink over this, but in reality this is my local store, I go in there often, and they DO turn the other cheek in strange situations like when I trade in 10 Soul Bubbles, still sealed....lol

Not sure if I'll pursue this, unfortunately. Advice?

Oh, come on -- if you believed they actually had these and they didn't get snapped up during the 75% off by employees or other CAGs or gamers, in a NYC store, which is probably one of the most high-traffic ones in the country, I've got a bridge a borrough over that I can sell you.

I'd say that Xbox, then GameCube, then PS2...then maybe GBA. They keep handhelds around longer than consoles, by virtue of this sale alone -- a year and a half after the PSX/N64 game liquidation, and those all launched in the late '90s. They've got copies of Tetris for the GB from 1988 in this sale.

I think they will be carrying PS2 games for another 4+ years, considering Sony said the system will be supported until 2010 so they will be still adding to the section of PS2 games.

true... I never really sat down to think about how old the GB games really are.

Got a few today...

Mega Man V gloat gloat
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
Microsoft 6 in 1 Puzzle Collection Entertainment Pack - Strangely enough I'd just commented that I never heard of this game in an IRC chat the other day when combing through the GB/C games on Amazon.com

Awesome. And I think someone asked why the clearance "sale" may end - I don't think it would actually end, since it is a clearance (though they did end the DVD clearance), but rather the stores that have any games left will ship them off to the main warehouse or warehouses, and they might become available online for a short time, or they might not.

Man, I wish I had an extra copy for you. Kill her with kindness, and tell her you would genuinely and honestly appreciate the extra effort for that single GBC game, because it would mean the world to you. And tell her you would call her DM/RM and give her a rave review. BTW find out if that store has any other GB/GBC games you want, even if dupes, and have them all shipped at once.

Today I found

R-Type DX $0.45
Mega Man Xtreme 2 $1.50

I have visited this Gamestop store three times the cashier same guy all three times has shortchanged me each time. The first time he shortchanged me a few cents I thought he made a mistake so I let it go the second time he shortchanged me a quarter I had to ask him for the change he apologized and acted like he made a mistake. Today when he started the checkout he mumbled "two free games" and he proceeded to shortchange me $0.03. I now realize he is deliberately doing this but I did not want to make a big deal about three cents in a packed store so I let it go again. I checked my receipt he did not count the nickel I gave him on the receipt it looks like I gave him the exact amount for the game with no change owed to me. Has this happened to anyone else? It is bothering me.

It is only a few cents but it feels like he is insulting my intelligence and trying to steal from me.

Don't take that shit. Next time you pay say aloud how much you're giving him and check your change right away. Call him out on it if he tries it again and file a complaint with his manager.

It seems like some of you guys are avid collectors; I was looking for some help determining how scarce these specific games are

International Superstar Soccer 2000
Aliens Thanatos Encounters
Kid Dracula
Stop that Roach

I've checked both VGPC and eBay's completed listings however I am getting some conflicting data. Are these common titles or what?

I have had it happen at other stores. Was in a local music store picking up a last second Christmas gift, got something that came to $7.43, gave him $8, only got $.50 in change. Was running late, and figured not to make a big deal, but its obvious the guy is just trying to nickel and dime. Not even a receipt with the purchase, and no returns.

Got my self a few gameboy games today also. Legend of the River King, Armorines (I got it because I liked the name ^_^;) Dick Tracy, and Bust a Move 4.

I picked up Pokemon Pinball last week (among other, less glamorous things) and it is taking over my life. I'll be watching tv and I'll sit down to play it, and before I know it two hours have passed. Then I decide to play just a little bit more, and it's two hours later again. This is by far the best $0.45 I've ever spent.

Well, I found a completely untouched store today. I went in with $150 in credit, left with a huge sack of GB/C games. They had everything, Zeldas to Dragon Warriors...even a GameBoy Camera! I need to go through it all, but damn, I have got way too many of these now.

Also, DVDs have a new promo: B1G2. Kind of like the B2G4, except you don't have to find SIX in similar price ranges to maximize the deal.

Ugh, I'm cutting myself off from GB/C games since I've officially hit Phase 3 of a GameStop console-specific liquidation:

Phase 1: Buy anything that looks interesting
Phase 2: After researching, buy anything of value to flip and recoup the costs of Phase 1 and, ultimately, Phase 3.
Phase 3: Buy anything in good condition that I don't have for "collection purposes".

i finished my gameboy finds. cleaned out all 6 gamestops within 45 mins of my house. ended up paying around 100$ for about 60 games. kept 10 for collection. sold the others to craigslist people or a local pawn shop for 320$ so im happy made out pretty well on this end.

I've been to every single gamestop within a 50 mile radius of my house at this point. Everything is clean. We're talking literally like 30 locations (lol).

Still a couple more to hit up when I'm at school. I'll have to use a GPS to get there, though.

Have any of you guys searching for Gameboy games come across an extra Mega Man: Dr Wily's Revenge? Shockingly, when I was searching for the five Mega Man Gameboy games this summer, the one that should have been the easiest to find was the only one I couldn't find. If someone has an extra and would be willing to trade or sell it to me, I'd very much appreciate it.

I have a copy that I'm not married to. Do you have any DS games you'd possibly trade for it? I'm not looking for much, maybe something you found on the cheap.

I think I still have my copy I bought when I was a kid :D

Crystalis $0.75
Pokemon Pinball $0.45
TMNT Fall of the Footclan $0.45

Pokemon Pinball is missing the battery cover and the game label is all torn up but there is a working Duracell battery inside the game and for $0.45 I cannot complain.

I got a different cashier today but I did not take any chances. I brought extra change pennies, nickels and dimes no overcharge.:)
