I've logged over 100 hours in SFIV and have owned TvC since its launch last year. I don't think my statement is absurd at all. Street Fighter IV has the worst controls in any fighter I've played. They're not accurate enough. The game is also very slow and the console exclusive characters are extremely unbalanced. King of Fighters XII is a much better fighter than SFIV as well. SFIV has better online but the KoFXII engine and controls are far superior to SF.

In regards to infinites in TvC, you can megacrash out of them. You trade some super meter and a small amount of life to escape any combo. You can also advance guard and negate most of the chip damage in the game. I really love that about TvC.
Okay, until I am proven other wise I am guessing this is a joke account one of you fools made to get a rise outta the rest of us.

Wait Beef doesn't play Tekken? Wow there are two of us, respect.

Drive safe tonight people.
XII is better than SFIV, even if it is an unfinished mess.
I really wish this statement was true, but SFIV does so much right were KOF XII fails. I'm bored at work so I have time to state my arguement.

1. Characters

SFIV - It's got all the orginal favorites plus some cool new characters. All of them are faithfully represented with their trademarked moves. SFIV will have a natural advantage over KOF in this department since these characters are more well known making it a bigger draw.
KOFXII - It's got most of the fan favorites (KOF has a ton of characters so this is forgivable.) No new characters, and many characters (Iori, Clark, Ralf etc...) were either missing moves or completly unfaithful to their previous representations. There are teams but at the same time there aren't. You can recreate most fan favorite teams but many are most notablaly missing like Korean, Girl, Rival, AOF, etc.

2. Game Modes

SFIV - Simply put, it has the complete package. Online runs smooth (at least in my experiance.) If you want to play on your own it's got plenty to keep you busy from challenges, practice, and combos trails to help you master your charaters. Unlocking titles and pics add a little more drive and satisfaction to the game.
KOFXII - This is were it fails miserably. Arcade, Online, Versus, Practice, that's it. Arcade is a joke. All it is a time trail, five matches as quick as you can. Not even a boss. Online is awful and I played quite a bit. Never played one match that didn't have at least a little lag. There's little to none replay value.

3. Graphics

SFIV - Looks good. It almost seems like a cop-out to go 3D but I must admit it's 3D SF done right. Great backgrounds, great music with remixed classics to please the fans. Presentation-wise I see no reason to be upset with SFIV.
KOFXII - Graphics are personal so I won't get into much detail, just list the facts. Judgement seems split, I liked the graphics but I can understand people's complaints about the pixels. The animation was, for the most part, smooth being some of the best I've seen in a 2D fighter. But it seems like the focus on the animation was uneven. Backgrounds are very lush and colorful, but a little crazy. Also there are only 5 backgrounds (one being a rehash) with only 5 BGM.

4. Story

SFIV - The story was probably the worst part of SFIV. Not that story really matters in fighters but at least one is present. It's got endings, intros, rivals, final boss
KOF XII - nothing......, absolutly nothing.

5. Gameplay

SFIV - Gameplay is debatable but there's no denying SFIV rejuvenated the genre (at least for a little while.) All the old moves are in there so people who haven't touched SF for years were able to get into the game with little learning curve. But the combat is deep enough for vetrens. It was a perfect mix of both. It's not completly balanced (what fighter is?) but it's close enough to make it enjoyable.
KOF XII - The fighting system is good, unfortunaly it lacks balance. As I stated above many characters are missing staple moves. This makes them un-fun and almost unplayable, while others get the full treatment and obviously received more attention. When compared to other KOF titles there seem to be more removed than added. They added a critical counter system, but removed tactical shifts, SDMs, and many other KOF gameplay elements.

This is not a joke account. I haven't really got into the fighting game discussion here before but I was pretty heavily involved in the original arcade stick thread, even helping a few CAG members get their templates done (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192322&page=15). I mentioned that I preferred TvC to SFIV and this debate followed. I want to like SFIV, I really do. I've been a fan of the series since SFII hit. I'm hoping Capcom tightens the controls, adds a toggle for shortcuts and does a good job rebalancing the roster. As it stands, I find SFIV to be the weakest fighter released this generation.

@Rodimus: I agree with a lot of what you say. SFIV does have better modes and such but the gameplay kills me. I love how tight the controls are in KoFXII. I do lament some of the character changes in XII, especially Iori, but I think it ties in well to the overall storyline.

I think SFIV is the better package but KoF XII is the better fighting engine. SFIV would be perfect if it had the accuracy of XII and better online, just as XII would be perfect if it was more complete and had all of the bells and whistles of SFIV.

Graphics are very personal but I think TvC is 3D Street Fighter done right.

Congrats on the mention Mark.. that's real cool that you have a piece of 2009 FG history carved out for yourself.

nil: If you play SF4 on XBL.. I'll play you. You might appreciate my play style, it's somewhat atypical I think. I learned how to play almost completely from online and offline competition, so I'm fairly familiar with some of the main quirks associated with matchups for my main character (Blanka) and less familiar with a lot of the combos that you can learn from practicing in challenge mode...

Phrost: OOOH AMBIGIOUS CROSSUP BALL ON KNOCKDOWN
Abel: ouchie, i got hit. ULTRA TIME
Phrost: WAHHHHHH BUT I DID SO MUCH WORK

Ur an asshole if you don't put Rival Schools on that list.

KOFXII didn't have Mai. How can it even be considered a KOF game without her? It's like Street Fighter without Chun-Li or Dead or Alive without Kasumi.

To be perfectly honest, both games sucked for solo players. KOFXII's sucked for the reasons you said and Street Fighter IV's wasn't much better because its solo modes were dull and uninspired. Not that I was terribly surprised though, no one at Capcom knows what it takes to make a good single player experience in a fighting game.:bomb::bomb::bomb: Virtua Fighter 5 did solo play right. The Tekken series has always packed great mode variety. The Soul Calibur games not ending in "IV" did solo play right. Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the PS1 was the only SF game that had a good single player mode, World Tour.

...Come to think of it, I never did beat that last stage against all those Shin Akumas...:lol::lol:

Happy New Year, FGT! May 2010 be prosperous for all!:D:D:D

What game did you guys ring the New Year in with?

I spent the evening with Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. Lasted 47 in-game minutes in a battle royal with Mr. Gannosuke before Misawa Criticaled me with a 3-hit Roaring Elbow combo. Got my revenge in a exploding barbed wire deathmatch.

Happy New Years everyone.

There is a good possibility I might be spending the first day of the new year at MGL playing SFIV with my crew and NOT going to work. WOOOOOOOOO!!

Happy new years! I went from somebody who thought arcade sticks were overpriced controllers to owning 5 of them and just got done making an order off of lizardlick. All of this happened within this year and I have never lover fighters more than I do now. I blame SFIV for rejuvenating the genre for me and blame markman for getting me into arcade sticks! Happy 2010 FGT! Let's keep the genre and hobby well and alive now!
Anyone here still play SFIV? I'm prolly not as "legit" as the crew here but i'd like to play sometime! I have it for 360/PS3.
A lot of people in here do actually, me included.

Where you drunk when thinking about this? Your selling off BB and NiN? Sad day  Are you selling off your 360?

@BackinBlack

Everyone who posts in here on a regular basis still plays SFIV though some have been jocking Tekken a lot recently.

Shoot me a friend request on PSN and mention FGT.

My house was robbed like half a year and I never rebought an HD-DVD player so that's why I'm selling all my HD-DVDs.. also, I don't really like BlazBlue.. that's why I'm selling that. I figured it was time to get rid of the games I don't play, yaknow?

Also, I'm not selling my 360.. I'm still keeping all the games that I play: SFIV, MW2, Tekken 6 and some others.

Annnndd... last but not least, this is the reason why I want SF: The Game based on the Movie based on the Game:
