God of War III -- Gen. Discussion
I would say it is his brother Zeus spoke of as based on this note in Hades.

A note scrawled by a tortured soul:

Hades, I beg at your Palace gates, grant me a reprieve!
Have I not become all you have wanted?
Are my debts not paid in full?

How long must I hope for a rescue that will never come?
He becomes a god, while I rot and suffer.

Release me so that I may have my revenge!

If Kratos can escape Hades multiple times, why couldn't his brother.
Ah, i like your connecting-the-dots very much :) Yes, i remember that note as well. Now that you put it that way, hmmm, it does make sense to why Kratos was able to get out three times and that poor soul couldn't...
No, I don't think you did. I think when I did it I got some error message saying a code has already been redeemed for this account (or something to that effect).
The whole thing with the retailer exclusive skins are getting on my nerves! Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid way to get the ACTUAL skin codes.

The only code i don't have problem with is Dominus, it's right off the bat, no waiting! The GoWIII guide actually list all of the skins too, the powers and such.

Am I the only one that saw the Clash of the Titans trailers/commercials and thought to themselves: Why the hell isn't this just a God of War movie? I think it would make for a much better and much less generic film.

Ok, for the 3 Judges part,
is there something special you need to do? I saw the 3 judges had that ice on the back of their heads, but couldn't break it. Also, there were those two pillars with those ice things, and I couldn't figure out what the hell to do. I thought you needed to move the briar barrels over to the chains and blow them up, however, they wouldn't go through the portals. I saw that area around th eone portal, and around the corner after you go through one of the portals, that looked like the invisible Über chest (kind of a blurry section like something is cloaked).

My question is, was I supposed to do something at that time, or do you come back to that part later in the game? I went ahead and killed Hades and now I'm past it. Contemplating whether or not I should go back.

Yeah I thought that as well. I am sure a lot of God War elements will be in that movie. Yet to me it will help a God of War movie. Who ever ends up doing the movie, can look at Clash of the Titans and see what does and does not work.

You will go back later.
You will go back later.
Just keep going. You can't break any onxy(I think that's what it is) until you get the big hand lion head weapon things. I sat at that part for a while even when I had that weapon and I couldn't figure out how to break the chain.
What if you glitch it out so you have all your weapons early?
From what people have said, if you use the glitch and break the onyx (?) on the back of the judges heads, the game will freeze.

Yeah. Absolutely one of my favorite moments in the game.

You should watch the making of voice actors video

This is true

I'm at the part after beating Hades and trying to get the 1000 hit trophy. I'm doing what people have been telling me here in this thread, and also at ps3trophies.org says to do the same thing here, but I can't get more than about 600 hits before all the enemies die, I'm on easy and I really don't want to go back through the first part of the game on a hard difficulty again just to do this trophy. What am I missing or is there some other good place for this on easy? (I also want to get aMAZED, so I did the weapon glitch as someone suggested, so I fear the claws of Hades may be too powerful for this).

I have aMAZEd and Hitman left basically, so can someone tell me the best way to get these done with?

When you first enter tartarus there are around 4 skeletons and thats where i did it. pretty easy there.

Which part exactly do you mean, after you open that huge ass door and then head towards Chronos?
Which part exactly do you mean, after you open that huge ass door and then head towards Chronos?
That's where I did it too.

It's much later from where you are.
You'll do this giant wall puzzle which will ultimately open the door to Tartarus (the doors are in Hephaestus' chamber). You'll see a couple of skeleton enemies approach you after a save point.

I did it on my Titan play through and it wasn't bad at all. I used one or two bow shots to keep my chain going in case I was getting close to losing it.
Which part exactly do you mean, after you open that huge ass door and then head towards Chronos?
Ya, like he said...after you do the wall puzzle and push the blocks in, a giant doorway will open into tartarus.

run down the windy parth and get about 8 grunts to spawn, then run all the way back to the giant doorway. the enemies wont be able to touch you from there

then use you claws of hades grappling move (the one that spawns flying skulls after you hook onto enemies) and keep doing that nonstop until you hit 1000 hits.

also, its important to note, DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR CLAWS OF HADES...b/c if you do, the grunts will die before you hit 1000 combo. u can do this on titan level if ur having trouble, since the enemies have more health...but i was able to do it on a easy run-through with the UN-UPGRADE claws

hope that helps!!!

:D

Thanks, yea, I'm gonna have to go through again on easy with no glitch to get this combo because I've got a few 800+ but my enemies die because my weapons are maxed out...oh well, I still need aMAZEd and the possessions of the gods so I need to almost beat the game again.

Thanks to all for the help on this trophy/plat, lets hope I can get my first platinum :)

Holy fuck, the jumping is so damn terrible in this game, so much its just fucken annoying and takes away from the immersive nature of the game, I fail in the same damn pit 15 times in a row!

I did my 1000 hit combo on the first fight in the labyrinth. Took a while since those guys keep coming after you and I got hit many times and broke my combo. The good thing is they take forever to kill even on easy and my hades claws were actually maxed out.

I just got the hitman trophy, and I did it on the fight with the giant scorpion actually. It was incredibly easy-- just attack one of his two hind legs that are unarmored and he is stuck in place and just mash on square until you feel like stopping..now for aMAZEd and I'm done woo!

Edit: Wooooohooooooooo! First Platinum, thanks everybody! I have some extra PayPal, this makes me want to consider getting the GoW collection...thoughts?

Been playing through Chaos mode with the Fear costume and it's a blast.

I've seen a ton of people complaining about the jumping/double jump in this game and I just don't get it. Not only have I not noticed a problem with it, but I don't think I've had a single death yet from failing a jump. Hell, my only real complaint about this game is that the trophies are too easy for the most part.

The double jump issue for me was that in most games, double jumps allowed a delay in pushing the jump button again. I am used to that method, but in this game you must push the jump button twice right away. It took a few deaths before I remembered it was different.

i did that one in posiedons palace.
theres a spot where you have to kick dogs through the doorway. the dogs respawn indefinelty and theres 3 of them so you can do it there and should a dog die another will respawn and you can keep going. its also a good plae to do the dog kicking trophy and the blinding trophy.

the first two gows are timeless classics. if u enjoyed the 3rd, the first 2 are a guaranteed good time

My only complaint in the game is that there aren't that many "hidden" chests/areas... I tried to explore as much as i can, but nope, no hidden paths (maybe there are, maybe i didn't do it right).

You know those big pots that you can shoot with your bow? The ones explode? Well, when i was playing on EASY, i didn't see the point of them... I thought you can use them to blow up gates/walls. Well, i was mistaken... i even drag the damn thing all the way to the part where you need to climb up to fight Helios (no more spoiler tags, if spoil the fact that you have to fight Helios, then let the gods help you).

In GoWII the Uber chests were pretty cool. Without the guides, i could never find the gift of health. The other uber chests were slightly easier to spot (but still, i have to look them up )

I love the game, i plat it and i'm not even that good! And yes, on Titan mode, i don't block, i hate blocking, block sucks (that's why i can't get use to Bayonetta, but i still like the game though). The only practical use for blocking is when you're fighting the Gorgons. Reflecting the green beam can stone everyone in the area is very handy. Other than that, no blocking for me and yes, i beat Titan mode w/o blocking much...

I don't like evade too, it almost always trigger the Rage of Titans (hence wasting it). Icarus' wing is my best friend :) As you can see, that's why i had a hard time with Hades, he's a bitch on Titan mode! You have to evade his attacks... Thank the gods that there are checkpoints on bosses.

There are patterns to everything really, some of them i discover on my own (satisfying), most i learned from others (not satisfying, but equally amazing, it's one of those "why didn't i think of that?!?!')

It's cheesy to use "chick shit" moves, but hey, that's what the hard difficulties are... You can't just hack and slash your way like you did on EASY.

At the end? God of War III didn't disappoint me a bit.

no you didnt miss anything as far as hidden chests there were like 2 or 3 spots where they were behind walls or invisible out in the open
all of which are revealable with helios head
but compared to the previous games nothing really felt hidden or secret. thats why i said it felt like kh2 in the way they dumbed down alot of things to make it more accessable to new gow players.

the exploding pots were a waste too i thought youd use them to blow up walls as well but nope. thats why i dont like the series anymore i was hoping for a serious challenge or something that would take all of the stuff from the previous games and make it way better but in the end the game aside from some cheap spots was too damn easy.

Too short of a game for $60 imo. Plus the ending was meh to me.And what are these uber chests you speak of? I found a bunch of chests on
the labyrinth before you make it over to where Pandora is
, though most just had orbs in them or one of the last 1-2 horns or other items I needed to upgrade to get max health, armor, magic and items.

Hmmm, I have a feeling we could be getting some cut levels as part of some DLC when the spartanstandstall timer is full.

Well then, hopefully that timer fills up quickly, since unless it's some sort of bonus(that doesn't cost extra)I'm dumping this game on my TL and trying to squeeze out enough from it to get Transformers: War For Cybertron in June.;)

Have to agree...God of War 3 was a massive disappointment. So much so I sold it with no regrets as soon as I could...The story sucked, the gameplay was ok but level design was brutally awful and the game lacked the imagination of the first two.

I hope so... I read the art book and there's this Argus creature, quite fearsome. However, it never made to the game because the creature looked too alien like and GoW is not deep space

Perhaps the creature returns in a DLC? Who knows...

That's a bit harsh... Remember, at the end, there's only chaos and that's exactly what happened in GoWIII. Not only got you scratching your head, but the world is literally in chaos. All done by one mortal man, perhaps a msg to us... We, the human beings are above everything, even the gods can't control our fate. We create and we destroy, among the chaos unleashed by our mortal mistakes, we still stand tall.

As for architectural designs, GoWIII is not too bad. The whole world was mapped out. You have Mt Olympus on top, the Cavern in the middle and Underworld below. The Labyrinth is gorgeous (stole too much from
Cube, the movie
though).

Of course, the mechanics of the traps and puzzles are not creative as the first GoW (Pandora's Temple is very well designed, the best architectural design in the series). In GoWII, the most memorable environment is the Steeds (whipping the big ass horses is very cool).

The overall difficulties (puzzles and traps) sort of tone down after the first GoW. However, visually, III is better than both I and II (duh).

I hope that last part is a joke.
I hope that last part is a joke.
Why is that? I haven't seen any actual video of the TF:WFC game as of yet, but once I do that should be enough to convince me if it's a game I want.

I just don't care to keep any of my games beyond their usefulness anymore. I played GOW3, I beat GOW3 and I have no desire to replay it especially after that long drawn out ending.

Maybe I'll pick it up again sometime later on, but only if they release a GOTY edition with the supposed DLC they may be working on, since unless it's free DLC and comes out before I dump this game I'm not paying for shit that should've been included on the original release.

The only games I really keep anymore are the sandbox titles that I can openly explore the game world after I'm done with the main game.

one of the biggest improvements they made in the game that i really liked was with how you move blocks and objects around. that i was so excited about but sadly enough you only used it a few times.
I can't believe I let myself get sucked into the hype and bought this. I don't like hack and slash games and this is no exception. Mindless hack and slash, simple puzzles, frustrating boss fights culminating in QTE's... not for me. Back to Bad Company 2 multiplayer it is.

The graphics, however, are insane, especially that opening titan battle. Too bad you can't appreciate it as much as possible due to the fixed camera angles and QTE button prompts stealing away your focus.
I bought it used from GS and will be returning it within the 7 day "rental" period. I don't get the hype for a game like this. I keep trying to adjust the camera to look around out of habit with other games.

I'm only about 3 hours in and don't care if I ever play it again. Darksiders has this game beat by a mile in my opinion.

If I had BBC2, I'd be playing that too.

I did like that too, but you only do use it a couple of times like you said, so it was kind of useless 90% of the time.

And I too wished you could look all around and just take in the scenery, shajek, but unfortunately that was the one thing they didn't change from the prior titles.

Everybody have different taste... There's no hype really, part III is popular because I, II and CoO were out for a while.

The right stick is for evade, it's not for camera adjustments. Since it was implemented from the beginning, GoWIII can't take that away.

yeah but those were "special view spots" i think you should have been able to do a free view at choice as well. granted you wouldnt be able to move but to be able to look around the area at will would have been nice and kind of useful in some areas.
