Over the weekend, I got matched with another Goozex user who is supposed to send Gears of War to me. They selected the option that they would mail within 3 days, which would be by tomorrow.

Last night, I received a private message telling me that due to a death in the family they wouldn't be able to get the game out until Thursday. I'm usually a trusting guy, but the fact that this trader has 0 feedback and I've been fed this excuse dozens of times on eBay doesn't bode very well...

A week or so ago, I had to request credit for another new 360 game (Call of Duty 3) that never arrived. Although it was a different user, it seems that some people have found that this is a scam they can run for a quick 900 points (or more) in order to get a free game or two before eventually being suspended/banned/etc.

I'm a big fan of Goozex and I've recommended it to my friends; but I feel that perhaps the correct step would be in not crediting points until games are received and strongly suggesting that shippers use delivery confirmation.
As I expected, Gears of War never arrived. Negative feedback has been left for this user and back to the bottom of the queue for me! :bomb:
Has anyone else noticed that the # you are in line has been removed for both Requests and Library games?
Same for me, is it intentional? There's no mention of it on the Updates link at the bottom of the site or anything.

Removing the queue status is intential due to our Canada expansion. We now have different queue lines depending on which countries you agree to trade with. The idea is simple, but the presentation is complex and we decided to remove the queue standing.

Your place in the queue is based on the time you enter the queue and applies to all traders. This is the best and most fair option.

Some other changes. If you choose to only trade within US then you will only see the games available for US. The same is true for Canadians who only want to trade within Canada. You will see all games available if you agree to trade with all countries.

I'll be around to answer other questions regarding these questions...

what does this mean the first people who gets though the door gets the trade. Im going to shove someone into a lamp post then LOL

I recently got Sin Episodes: Emergence Episode 1 and it appears I can't play the game because the CD key is already registered via Steam.

Checking Steam's website for CD key resets, you need the original CD key from the box (which I have), but you also need a receipt and it states receipts from "auction sites or other individuals will not be accepted". So it appears I'm S.O.L.

Feedback-wise, how should I proceed with this situation? Should Goozex remove Steam-associated games like they do with MMORPGs, where one CD key is tied to one account name.

I understand the whole complexity of having multiple regions and therefore multiple queue lines, but I hope in the future that you could add an option, perhaps you can click the item and view your spot in the queue. It was good to have, just for the sake of knowing how long you can expect to wait before you get your turn, so you can adjust your requests accordingly and remove an item if its gonna be awhile before you have a shot at it.

Otherwise, an awesome site and I'm glad I joined. I think I've had more success in my short time on Goozex than I've had for any other trading site.

I agree.
Since the # of games that can be requested / added to the library is limited, I want to know where I stand in the queue. I would much rather add a game to my request where I'm in the 2nd in line VS 5432nd in line. Also, it seems that the avaliable games/ requested games sections are now sorted alphabetically (in the past, it was sorted base on the date the games were added). Is there a way for us to change this? This is really bugging me. I want to see what has been added every now and then. Browsing thru all the pages just to see if I don't recognize something (newly added? maybe.. if only I could remember the names of the 3000+ games that was listed yesterday) isn't really a practical idea.

Getting rid of the "place in line" makes the whole process more mysterious, which isn't a good thing. Before, when you added a game to your request list, you could tell if there was a good chance that you would get it fairly soon. But now you have no idea if you are first in line or 20th in line. For some games, being that far back in the line means that for all intents and purposes you will NEVER get the game, but the system doesn't tell you that now. I liked being able to see that I was first in line, because I would just decide to wait for it to become available. If I was way down on the list (depending on the game) I would just give up and get the game from another source, because it was pretty obvious that my turn wouldn't be coming up in the next few months, if at all. This change makes the site quite a bit harder to use, in my opinion.

Oh dear, I hadn't noticed that. That's terrible. I used to stop by the site several times a day to see what had been added, but that doesn't seem to be possible now.

great site up to the update and now its just looks like junk.

I miss seeing what number im in line to either trade an item or get an item. Mostly this number helped me to see if i should try to get it or go out and buy the item. Now i have no idea if im first in line or 100 in line. same with selling the item.

there is no way to see what games was just added. This was the best part of the site since you knew what games were new and just added

this site just looks plain now and would love to see it go back to the way it was.

i find it way too hard to find new games listed and i think this will be a major turn off to the new people that is coming to this site.

I agree with all the feedback above 100%. Between the loss of the queue length for a game and the sorting, the site feels crippled to me. I also don't care for the redesign of the my request / my library pages.

Considering I have no intentions to add other countries to my trading region, these changes are of no benefit.

How many here are lining up to ship games to Bermuda???

I also do not like the queue numbers being removed for all same reasons listed above. That was an integral part of the service that I used quite often to make my decisions about when to trade.

As far the alphabetical listing of the now available games , a more in depth search feature needs to be added to clear that up ie. search by just added , point cost , date released.

I hope that Goozex hears the voice of the people and does some updating.

To be fair to Goozex, it sounds like there was a conflict between coding for the regions and accounting for the queue for available and wanted games. It might be something that can be fixed later on. As for the sorting for newly available games, I have a feeling that it's also related to the region thing. My suggestion would be to have a "newly added" tab, and tag the game that you just added as avaiable to the areas you're willing to ship to (like how you tag the game as complete or disc only). Unfortunately, that might be more trouble than it's worth.

I feel bad for Goozex, since I understand that there's probably a legit demand for this in Canada. The problem is that most people probably wouldn't trade to Canada, so expanding the site seems to be doing more harm than good. How much does it cost to send a game to Canada anyway?

Hi everyone!

We hear you! We hear you!

Let me try to explain.

1. The queue standing was removed b/c as is noted before the coding would be a challenge, but also imagine you're #4 in one line and then you're #20 in another. And then imagine showing that listing in the library/requests page. We tried to keep things as simple and fair as possible. I can promise you a review of this.

2. Alphabetical order has only one purpose -- to give those who posted games further back to have a chance for their game to be requested. We have noticed that a lot of members simply look at the recent games added and miss out on some good games at the back.

Now we know this isn't perfect...and we've got a fix coming -- good old filters. Can't give a date on that b/c of the Holidays, but its sooner than later.

Finally, we do listen to everyone here, on emails, and other places and we are proactive with the feedback. I think some older members can vouch for that. Goozex, in the end, is going to be a user driven site! Just check out Time's cover of person of the year and you'll know that you all rock!

Have a Merry Christmas and we'll be back early next week!

The problem now is that games that start with a symbol like & and ( have a higher priority than games that start with the alphabet letter Z. I doubt anyone would broswe thru all 380+ pages from A-Z.
I guess a filter will help solve this problem.

:)

PS:
At least with the old setup, the games that are listed on the first page (available/requested) is constantly changing.
With this setup, it is almost static.
Come on people, buy the 3 (The) Bard's Tale that are listed on the first page!
(what is weird is that all 3 versions are actually being requested, but no one have the points for them)

It also won't be just an alphabetical filter...but point ranges and other things...we need to hammer out the details...

what filters would you like to see?

Thanks for responding so quickly.

Point range sounds cool as an option on an extended search page. Maybe release year, publisher? I personally only search for very specific games I'm interested in or the recently added tab, so none of this helps me, but it could help someone else. Another option that could work well is something like "Available Now", for games that are available immediately to anyone without the queue waiting time. Then again, that search page would probably be cluttered with junk.

My vote is definitely in favor of the newly added tab rather than starting with the alphabetical filter. Having the $100,000 Pyramid be the first item that shows up in the search doesn't help anyone out. I understand your reason for sticking up for those games that get lost in the shuffle, but speaking as a guy who owns some of those games, there's usually a reason those games get lost. In a related comment, I'd be thrilled if someone took Scrapland and Power Drome off my hands. Anyone? Please?

I just want to say that I think any negative post here are constructive criticism. I think the site is great, and I really hope that they can put together a way to show the queue length for a game in the future. I've grown accustomed to seeing the wait times both at Goozex and a few different game rental sites I've used over the last few years, and it's impossible to lose an important feature without feeling frustrated...

Add my vote for bringing back some kind of queue-position indicator! As for filters, here's a few:

Newly Added (also should be able to reverse order, showing oldest first)
Point Value (ascending and descending)
Qty available (gives a relative indication of how popular/easy to get)

Based on my recent experience, it might not be a bad idea to be able to block specific traders; for example, if you are matched with a sender who has lots of neg fb (game not received, poor condition, etc), or you've had a bad experience with them yourself in the past, you should be able to choose not to trade with them. Also, what about traders that never acknowledge a trade? I've been matched as a requester for a certain game 3 or 4 times, but the sender never responds and the game goes back in the list.

Maybe a little more information/links to review sites for each game would be nice. I realize you get your information from a 3rd party, but it leaves a lot to be desired IMO.

Maybe if it is too difficult to give people an exact # in the queue line, maybe we could get a ballpark idea? For example, if I just added Sonic 360 and there are a ton of people in the US asking for it, it would say "Very long wait", or if there are very few people in line in the US, it would say "Short wait" (holding supply constant).

Also, has Goozex considered trading DVD/HD-DVD/BluRay movies as well? Granted, it is a game trading site, but it doesn't hurt to diversify what people can trade if the implementation isn't too time-consuming.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions and please keep them coming. I wanted to give a quick update on the two main issues recently talked about. Before that though, I'd just like to say that these changes have come about primarily due to our expansion into Canada and keeping the trading options open between the different countries (i.e. trade to all, to one, or to none and vice versa)

1. We had a meeting today and talked about the same idea as Walt Jay has stated above. We are leaning towards some new ideas to convey your unique position in the line. This will take a little time.

2. Regarding the listing of available games. Another reason we went to alphabetical was b/c of the server contraints the chronological order was placing on us. However, given the feedback we think we took a step backwards. Expect changes as soon as we come up with a solid work around.

This is a good idea, although I would not use those exact terms. Places like Gamefly and Netflix can do that because they have their own stock, but with Goozex, even if you're first in line, you may never get the game if no one offers it for trade. So something like "short wait" would be misleading. But yes, if the exact place in the queue isn't doable, you could have something else that at least gives you an idea of how many people are in line for the game ahead of you.

It's great to see a company so responsive to it's customers, that's fairly rare these days!

I have another suggestion; a list view option! A one liner with a tiny thumbnail, and the rest of the information to the right of that. Would make browsing a lot easier, and you could select how many titles you want on a page! You could then have the sort order changeable by clicking on a column heading (alpha, date added, point value, ascending/descending, etc).

Let me say up front that Goozex is the best trade site but I have a gripe here. I have been in Limbo for over a week over 3 matches. I have NCAA Football for 360 and PSP on my wants. I want one or the other but prefer the 360. I believe I was matched with the 360 one twice and the PSP once over the last few days. When the first match to the 360 one came up, it came and went without the other person authorizing the "sale". I quickly was matched again to the 360 one. I think it was the same seller. Again it came and went. I almost instantly was matched again but this time to the PSP. It's been some time and I'm sure this isn't going to be shipped. In the meantime I've lost out on 2 games I wanted because my points are "spoken for". This is really annoying.

I don't like the new site either. I pretty much just add newly listed games to my wantlist since I check the site daily. Now I have to go through the entire list, which takes too long, so I've pretty much given up on requesting new stuff or visiting the site.

Also, I want to know what place I am in line. I have no interest in trading with Canada or any other countries, so I don't see the point of ruining the site for Americans in order to let Canadians use it.

question

vaction mode does this mean i still can recive games or am i shut out for either sending or getting.

i love the site but with with close to 11,000 pts i dont see a reason to be sending out much stuff anymore

I will be out of town and/or on vacation, how do I pause my current trading status within my
Go to your account settings page, and check the 'Vacation mode' box. By selecting this option, your trading will be "not active" until you return. This will prevent your offers from being suspended and put at the end of the queue. You will not be able to receive or ship games while this preference is checked.

how about until the NEW Games listed comes back if any CAG list new games they tell us what they listed so we can search for them if that is okay

Sweet, it looks like the now available is back to the old way of newest listed first. I'm relieved that changed back. I know the intentions were good with the change, but it sure was a hassle.

Hey everyone....

We changed it back to chronological order for available games -- in other words its safe to go back!

A few other neat changes:
1. A more detailed feedback log
2. New request/offers are placed at the top so you can quickly select shipping preferences
3. You can now tip a seller if that person exceeded your shipping and packaging expectations...the 50 points comes from your account and a lot of our members asked for this when they received new games really fast...
4. expanded request/offer queue to 200

enjoy!

Nice additions! I like the tipping idea. Can I tip the person that came up with the idea?

I don't know if this is new or not, but I was matched to a buyer of a game this morning, and when I go to my library and look at the trade, the button says "accept trade?". For some reason that confuses me this morning. If I click it, does the click mean yes? Or is there another screen following my click that asks yes or no?

Something else I would like to see is to be able to see who is offering a game for trade and be able to see their feedback before we are matched.

I think that is where we want to move to next is to allow a user to comitt to a trade based on the other persons feedback...on the other hand you shouldn't find users who have a lot of negative feedbacks...

If you have a game coming to you from skyler06, expect it to come without a manual even though he lists all his games as being complete. When I left feedback stating that the game was worthless to me as I only collect complete games, I got a nasty private message back. He doesn't seem to think he's in the wrong for lying about sending out complete games. I checked his feedback and the person before me received an incomplete game but left postive feedback instead of neutral, which was definitely a mistake. If you receive an incomplete game when requesting a complete one, be sure to leave proper feedback. If a game doesn't have a manual, it must be listed as disc-only, even if you have the case, since there's no option for disc+case. I'd say the majority of CAGs don't want incomplete games, partly for collecting reasons and partly because it's much harder to trade incomplete games.

That "person before you" was me.
The game I got (Luigi's Mansion) was in pretty shitty, but playable condition
(scuff marks and stickers on the case, scratches on the disc, the word "mic" was written on the disc with permanent maker, the disc was loose when I got it).
I figured it was only 100 points so I let it slide
Just thought it was an honest mistake
(his previous two sends to drfrielgood & Kupofather didn't appear to have any issues).
I didn't realize this guy was a jerk.
Otherwise, I would have indeed left him negative feedback.

PS
I also left Goozex member sableenees positive feedback for Warioware: Touched (DS) even though it didn't include a manual. I probably still would have requested that game if it was cart only since it seems to be a little pricy on ebay. Maybe I'm being too nice?

Yes, I think you're being too nice. He sent me another message. He doesn't seem to understand the concept of people wanting complete games. I think if you would have left him neutral feedback like I did, he would have gotten the clue and changed his listings to disc-only.

Goozex is aware of this issue and is working on a solution. (see the previous page for more detail)

I think there should be some kind of rating system other than the complete/disc & manual/disc only options. For example, if I want a complete GBA game, I expect the box to arrive brand new and not crushed or bent. However, there's no way to explain that on the request page.

Also, this is probably on the site, but how does the feedback affect you? As far as I know, when a requested game gets accepted, there is no way for me to block the trade if the sender has low feedback.

I also agree with the posters above regarding the sorting of the game lists. I find it annoying that I can't sort by date added, alphabetical, copies available, condition, etc. Along those lines, I would also like to see more than 10 games per page.

Thanks!

Goozex only requires games to be playable so if you need games to be in perfect condition, Goozex isn't exactly the right place for you. You might want to try the cag trading forum, gametz (etc). I have gotten a few gba games from goozex and I think about 80% of them get crushed. The proper way to ship a gba game would be in a box, however that would drive up the shipping cost. Considering that most gba games are not worth that much to begin with, it is not worth the trouble to most members. I guess you can try to PM the other member and offer him (her) a 50 point bonus if a box is used. Then again, that might get complicated (there is no guarantee that the other member will get the extra points, the box might have already been crushed before it was shipped out, etc).

I see, but it's actually not that hard to send out a gba game in a padded envelope and have it not get crushed. I recently sent out a game to another user and broke down the box and the carboard game holder and placed them along with a hard back in a regular size 0 padded envelope and it arrived in perfect condition. It also only cost $1.52 to ship via first class. I guess you're right though, it's not exactly the place to get a guaranteed mint/complete game.

this within 1-3 days

what i mean by this is I confirmed a trade today and put down 3 days (tuesday)

well no mail on sunday
No mail on monday (new years day)

Nope, the admins are total jackasses! They canceled my account due to setting up multiple accounts which was FALSE. I did have a few friends who used my computer to setup their accounts due to them not having net access. The admins at Sayswap did NOT give me any chance to explain this. When this happened i lost OVER a 100 points and 4 or 5 trade tokens at least! Plus the worst thing was i had made several trade promises that i was waiting on games to get to me to send to those that had already sent me games. So i don't mind being out a few pts and tokens, no sweat for me to goto a different trade site. But my main concern was they ruined my reputation on that site so there was no point in me trying to go back. Was a total believer until then so TRADERS BEWARE, you violate their terms and conditions from their point of view and say BYE BYE to all your hard earned points and tokens!!!

You have that many friends with no internet access at home?!?!?!
Many Dial-Up ISP only charge $5 a month (about 17 CENTS a day).
(sites like www.freedomlist.com has a full listing of these ISPs)
ahhh...
How can they even afford games/systems?

PS
This isn't an insult.
I just find it shocking.

Just checked the Goozex's update page after reading the thread on CAG. They ARE DOING a few updates on the site (including queue length)

cool. I'm glad they put the "available now" back to chronological order and hopefully they'll put the queue back too. (Nothing against Canadians :))

I never really expect my games to come mint...they rarely do...but if they claim they are complete I expect them to come complete. I've received new/sealed games and then I've received games listed as complete that come disc-only and all scratched up. Even the scratches don't bother me if the game still plays (I've received a couple that wouldn't play), but if there are a lot of scratches, I'll leave the second positive feedback option that says the game works but wasn't in the condition I was expecting. A few people seem to be abusing this feedback option, while others that should be using it don't.

yea i think people dont know how to use the features. I was sending out some old sealed games i got dirt cheap and then i send one game that isnt sealed and the dude leaves the 2nd feedback cause it wasnt sealed like the other peoples games.

I know I should already know the answer to this, but exactly how many days until a trade is closed by system?

I thought it was 31 but just wanted to make sure.

The reason is that after waiting 12 or so days for a game to arrive the trader contacts me (oddly enough on the exact day that the system would allow me to report the game as received) and tells me that he had sent out my game with the wrong address and had just got it returned to him. He said he was sending it out that day, but when I asked him for specific shipping info he never returned my email.

I know he could be telling the truth, or he could have just been lazy about mailing it out and waited until the last minute, or he could be scamming me and hoping to string me along until it's closed by system.

I just wanted to make sure that I didn't accidently wait too long to send feedback or report it missing. The guy's name is
