The new Assjack is good, but it's almost too much. You don't really get the feel there's a lot of Hank III-ness to it (which is funny since he did every single instrument plus vocals by himself for it), it's mostly screaming that you could get from any decent band doing the same thing. It's still worth a purchase to me, but Hank III's older never-released-but-out-there-online "This Ain't Country" was better to me. Still aggressive as hell but you could tell who you were listening to.

I recently discovered Seventh Angel's comeback album released over the summer, even expecting it for awhile it still managed to fly under the radar. Not bad at all.
What is bad on the other hand is the comeback Whiplash album. 50% total shit, 50% boring/average without a single song worth going back to listen to.

Anyone check out the new Megadeth? I know most people wrote Mustaine off after RIP but they're still one of my favorite bands. Endgame is actually pretty good, way better than the last two albums. I'm really enjoying it. The guitar playing is solid and there's not a lot of pussy pop type songs that Dave's been doing for the longest time now. Probably the best album since either RIP or Countdown.
I read John Bush is back in Anthrax which is great because I'm a huge fan of him. They should have just kept him in the band. They probably would have a couple albums out by now if they did. I hope the new Armored Saint is still on the way.

Not looking too shabby. We get the Midwestfest here, which is pretty nice, but doesn't really draw too big of acts, aside from 2008 when I saw The Day Everything Became Nothing, ... I'm Dead, Lividity, Cemetery Rapist, and Circle of Dead Children.
I'm enjoying the new Red Knife Lottery cd... Local band... A little grittier than The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but very nice.

I agree World Painted Blood is probably one of their better efforts recently.
Oddly, there is very little info about F&J or Orange Goblin new albums. I know that Orange Goblin has been playing various tours(back in September they did a festival in NC with Pentagram and CLUTCH). Currently, they are playing some shows across the pond.

Thanks for that, looks like a couple of upcoming releases fell under my radar.
New Devin Townsend album (Addicted) is off the charts. Holy shit. It is very "poppy" - they brought in some female vocals for this one - but it's still really heavy. Unless you're really against the thought of overly-catchy metal, you'll probably like it.
I don't think anything is going to top Ki for me but that album wasn't really metal.
Can't believe some groups I respect struggle to come out with slightly-above-mediocre albums every 3 or 4 years, and this motherer puts out two brilliant ones in less than a year. With two more scheduled for next year.
...Danzig has something scheduled for December? Boy am I out of the loop. Hope we get some of the early-era stuff for Rock Band to promote it.

This truly, truly sucks. On the upside, I hope he can pull through...I've seen him play 4 times with Sabbath/H&H, the last time with really good seats. But on the downside, I dont know if you can battle something like this...and still be a frontman with the pipes he has.
