Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/21 Dragonforce Track Pack

 My xbox just froze while I was connecting to an online match. I hope it's just a one time thing...

Overall I like it. Songs imo are better than GHII. Stuck with my Xplorer, glad I did too now that I see all the problems with the wireless one.

The tilt on this is too sensative.
While playing one on hard, I'd save some star power for the solo, but all of a sudden it'd just go off. So you can't hold the guitar at an angle, you have to have it a certain way.
Other than that, which did piss me off, no other problems.
I got mine at Gamestop.

My wireless guitar is perfect, no problems at all and I like the fret action much better than the wired explorer which has clumsy buttons that stick up too high and can move side to side. THe body shape is also more comfortable to hold, and the whammy bar is better. Star power is working just fine also. Not to mention: it's wireless!

I also love the Slayer song, one of my favorites in the game along with Iron Maiden and Metallica.
I think something is wrong with my guitar as well, though I am not sure what it is. All I know is that I can't get a streak going...I rarely even get one long enough for a 2x multiplier (I have gotten up to 4x by some miracle) on EASY. When I checked after completing a song, my average was 1.33. I'm pretty sure I did better the first time I played Guitar Hero (well, maybe the second ;) ). But I'm pretty sure that there's a problem when I have more trouble with Hit Me With Your Best Shot on easy than with Cochise on hard.
And after all the talk about them making the window bigger for hitting notes...
check the calibration

I finally finished Easy/Medium Career (5-Star)

Now I'm thinking if I should keep avoiding the Lou battle on Hard, or keep trying it until I throw something.

Same here, very happy with the guitar, no problems so far except the fact I didn't have the faceplate on right which was down to my own stupidity.

Very happy with the peripheral overall.

Hah, I never noticed the Harley Flanagan resemblance, but I suppose I can see a slight connection

Asian, did you try using my tip to beat Lou?

My cousin and I blasted through co-op career (me on expert, him on hard) but we got stuck on One last night :(
good good, now to get a 2nd guitar...
if you just want to get the songs just use a controller.

So what's the verdict on wired vs. wireless? Do you guys prefer the wireless? I was actually hoping for a wired guitar, but then realized I had a wireless bundle when I got home. It seems both Gamestop and BB around here are only selling wireless bundles.
I can't believe I am actually considering buying a face plate.
That KISS faceplace is actually pretty cool.

I was having problems with the red fret, too. I thought it was just my weak-ass fingers.

i can sum it up: wireless ftw

the wired bundle is alot less common (most people didn't even know it was going to exist), and it just comes with the old xplorer controller anyway.

i think it is available at walmart in case you really want it.

I started out on Easy... just so I can work my way up to harder difficulties. After I beat it on Easy, I can't find 'Devil Went Down To Georgia' in my Set List for Quickplay.

Can we not play this without being in a career?

This song is not playable in quick play or battles.
I wish it was. That song is soo awesome.

The wireless Les Paul is at least 3 billion times better than the Xplorer, provided you get one that works right.

Mine works fantastic. Star power only activates when I want it to, and the whammy works fine. The only issues I have are minor. Green button is a little squeaky, and the neck is slightly loose from the rest of the guitar. I can push the neck down slightly even after it's attached. Neither issue effects the performance of the guitar though. I may buy another bundle, and just sell the extra game, just to have a 2nd Les Paul.

I already finished the game on hard, playing through expert now. Failed that damn Slipknot song, at the part with the fucking chords all over the place. I guess I'll save my starpower next time. I really don't want to have to play that song more than I have to. Failing it once was bad enough. ;)

Hmm.. I wonder why they won't allow you to play it in quick play?

I know it's early, but I can't wait to see what dl content they'll have for this game. At least with GHII, we already knew which songs were coming before they were released.

i just want my stats up there.

yeah, i wanted to do the same thing. my gold account expired a couple of weeks ago, and i havent got a new card yet. oh well.

also, still havent heard from someone else about the high score thing, is anyone else having that problem? (high scores from the band are not saved)

Apparently you can't even check the damn leaderboards in the game with a silver account. Pretty stupid.

I imagine that's Microsoft's doing, considering it was fine in GHII. Hatred.

Last night my girlfriend told me that I may as well put electrical tape over the orange button. In other words I suck bad enough playing medium.

Was finally able to link my account... and none of my progress is showing up on guitarhero.com? what gives? Hopefully it's just yet another bug in the system that will fix itself.

Edit: Now it shows me at 11% through Hard, even though I'm 100% (including all bonus songs) through Hard and am working on Expert right now. Strange that it only shows what I played yesterday morning. Hopefully it's just because of how many people are playing that it is updating so friggin slowly.

I made the right choice with GH3 .
I played Rockband today at BB .
They had a guitar and drums [no bass pedal though]
The game is basically the same , the character animation was surprisingly choppy and stiff .
Pretty shabby when you compare the Slash MO-Cap .

I'm not slamming RB , I'll end up getting it at some point , I just thought you guys would want to know about the demo .

...and the soundtrack link is still not working !:bomb:

The problem with the BB Demo is no 2nd guitar and no vocalist. Rock Band's single player is not going to be as good as GH3, but when you get everyone together, it's a giant blast.

Oh, snap! I'll be in the same boat, my friend. I'm almost finished with easy, then on to medium where I will most likely get beat down.

the only way ill buy rock band is if 3 of my friends pitch in 50 bucks each. plus, i cant see myself, or any of my friends wanting to sing, its just not gonna happen, well not without 10 beers.
Asian, did you try using my tip to beat Lou?
I tried but he usually got the Lefty or Double Note power-up's and completely messed me up.

Does it help to intentionally miss the solo so that you can get the power-up's on your side?

I'm in the same boat. I wear the guitar fairly high and have the neck angled at above 45-degrees since I have problems with my wrist and star power works whenever I want it to.

Well, after buying Rock Band with that $200, you should have enough left for at least one case of beer. :D

Any tips on Raining Blood? The closest I got to passing "mosh 1" the crazy solo was about six of those 4 note PO's. If I pass that I can beat the song, and its on to the devil. The funny thing is that I passed the other three songs in the 8th set in one try.

Now I'm going back to work on 5-starring it and I still can't get past that part, heh.

What works best for me is to use my index finger as my anchor, making sure it's firmly in place on the green, then the red button. Then, just slap the rest of the fingers on there, making sure my pinky is in place, strum, then pull the rest of the fingers off in order. That's what works most consistantly for me. That riff is definitely a cock block.

i guess im just not used to the guitar but im sucking major ass right now.. had to go down to medium..

the game just feels different.. dunno

does anyones hands hurt more with the new guitar?

...

Guitar Hero III is a massively popular game and there are a ton of people online. So many people have been rocking out that the account linking process is experiencing some delays. We are aware of this issue and are working as fast as we can to resolve it. We appreciate your patience and check back for more updates soon!

It does feel a bit different. I posted this in the PS2 GH3 thread, but that one looks dead (guess everyone got the 360 or PS3 version), so...

So far it seems good, but oddly it's not as immersive as the first two, IMO. The first two gave me the feeling I was really playing the guitar, whereas in 3 I feel more like I'm hitting buttons in time to a soundtrack.

My wife theorizes that it's because GHJ and GH2 made the guitar parts much louder than the vocals and drums, and GH3 seems to just use the original mixes. I think she might be right.

Is there any reason that "Devil Went to Georgis" isn't showing up on quickplay for me? I beat it on medium today just to unlock all the songs, and they're all there except that one. Huh.

Number of the Beast was awesome. One was the first song to make me fail on Hard, and only because I wasn't prepared for the really fast hammer-ons in the second half.

Lou is a cheap mother fucker who keeps screwing me over with double notes while my meager power ups do little to faze his godlike abilities. I think I'll wait a day before trying to make him my bitch again.
