I played through on hard and finished the game. I think overall it's easier, but the last tier is indeed tough. I only 5 starred Cliffs of Dover out of the four songs. The others will take some work.

My only issue with the game so far is the occasional lag when activating star power.
 
Ok, here's something roommate and I found out today that is really lame:
In co-op career only one person gets achievements, even though they're specifically career CO-OP achievements. (and yes, we were both logged into our own XBL accounts)

I can't figure out why they'd do that. Either it's a bug, which blows, or it's intentional which blows even more.

Wow. Maybe I just need more practice :)

I now only have "One" and the final song after that to beat on Hard.

On a random note, it sort of sucks that Pandora isn't in this game.
 
just browsed the achievements and it looks like i will never even get close to seeing most of them. 15 consecutive ranked wins with a standard controller?! WTF?!

Besides those ridiculous ones, I'm just not good enough for a ton of the others.
 
My red button started acting up tonight during career mode. It wasn't a battle or anything. It better not screw up, it's been working fine for four days now, why would it randomly decide to screw up..
 
Ugh, I think I suck at this game or something because hard is kicking my ass. I'm on the last tier and goddamn I am struggling. It feels before the last few tiers the game is easier, but once I got down to the last two it all went to hell compared to GH2 on hard.
 
I will endeavor to work on going through career on Hard--I've already passed medium, which was pretty much my plateau on GH2. You guys who play on expert are fuck ing unbelievably talented--seriously. I had to battle Slash on medium probably about 8 times to get passed him. I really enjoyed the song, too.

I have to say (and again, I'm on medium, so don't kill me), La Grange just feels awesome. It's a pleasure to play it. Same with Black Magic Woman.

Looks like you ran across a bug or glitch, because my brother and I played coop career and we both got 2 Achievements - A Couple of Streakers and Two by Four. Hopefully next time you try it, it'll work better.

Your guitar neck may be coming loose... The detacheable neck was a good idea, but it's giving people a ton of problems. If taking it off and putting it back on doesn't help, you might need to return it.

I found that out yesterday too. Pissed me off cause I want the achievements and my boyfriend got them all :roll: Now I got to do it again. Maybe they could fix that through an update or something.

btw: I REALLY want the Smashing Pumpkins faceplate if someone wants to trade or sell me one.
 
I love reading the Score Hero forum and seeing all the random bitching, and the I come here and the level of bitching is minimal at best. This really lends credence to my theory that many of those who play Guitar Hero are, for lack of a better term, n00bs. It helps explain all the "OMG MY PS2 WON'T READ THE DISC" and "MY 360 DOESN'T WORK" posts that show up in the Misc. Game Discussion section of SH. Now they've been replaced with people who have 3 posts bitching about the Kramer not working, when there's about a 90% they just didn't follow the instructions properly or they slammed the guitar neck into the body like it was fucking Ava Devine or something.

Oh, and there are also supposed to be numerous lag and freezing issues with the PS2 version. I think I've had the game lock up on me twice, but my PS2 is 7 years old and on its last legs. I also never have any lag at all, even when I activate Star Power.

Don't know if I will ever beat Raining Blood or One.
 
Three of my walmarts near me do not have the game with a controller. Actually they don't even have controllers. Just the game. Is there a shortage of controller/game combos or something?

Totally not true...me and my little sis are playing through online co-op and we're both getting achievements.

The way he worded it, it sounds like they were playing local coop, with both profiles signed in. Maybe the second player cannot unlock the achievements in a local coop game. Just my guess.
 
I searched around and didnt see it but will the new guitar work with guitar hero 2? Because Im thinking of grabbing 3 combo and just grab GH2 the regular game
 
Got this in the mail on Saturday, beat the Career on Hard in a couple of hours. Pretty fun game, I can't fucking wait until Rock Band comes out now.

I five-starred a majority of the songs on the first try (The Metal was pretty easy for me), except for Raining Blood considering I don't listen to Slayer and the same goes to Slipknot.

The "Tone Deaf" achievement is just quirky, I did it for "Bulls on Parade," so sick.

Well, as I stated, my brother and I got 2 Achievements yesterday in Co-op Career, which is local. Achievements not unlocking for the 2nd profile seems to be a rare bug...

If you're talking about the Xbox 360 version, then yes. PS3 version? No.

I was playing in local Co-Op as well.
 
Yeah there seems to be some multiplayer glitches. I haven't unlocked the 200-note streak (500 and 1000 work fine...) or 100% a song, even though the person I played with did.
 
Im kinda pissed that Activision keep sneaking in these damn ads everywhere. I just paid a 100 bucks for this thing I DO NOT want to see a damn red bull, pontiac and McDonalds ads placed everywhere. fuck.
 
im stuck on the last tier, ive only beat cliffs of dover and finally went to bed last night. overall i like the game more, because theres are more songs that i like on the game (of course thats just me).

for some reason i think its easier to do pull offs in 3, has anyone else noticed this or am i just finally getting better at them?
 
It is easier. You only need to have the button pushed down when the jewel crosses the line to hit them.

Anyone else with an SDTV find that their Kramer works better when a lag setting of about 25-30 is used? For some reason I can hit notes a lot better with it. Also, there are pretty annoying ridges between each button on the Kramer, I'm not sure if they're on the Les Paul. I went ahead and filed them down and it made transisitions much more comfortable.

I've also noticed that my hand doesn't hurt after playing with the Kramer. Considering I've spent the better part of the last 36 hours playing the game, my hand should be a mess, but it isn't.

70 songs, the bulk of which are master tracks and a guitar for $100 is a bargain. If they keep with master tracks, I'll take the ads over high priced songs.
 
I have also had problems with my wireless guitar. My orange button continues to be shaky when playing. Once I detached the neck and attached it again, it was fixed. Then I played later on and was having the same issues. Had to detach and attach again.

Also, my brother and I were playing co-op career and achievements were only unlocking for the main profile (me :)) Only got two achievements though because he sucks!
 
I still have 3 hours to go at work, then I'm off to get my copy. Hopefully, I'll be able to save $9.90 with the 10% off coupon from EB...

Everytime I hit him with power-up basically does nothing to him and he keeps getting them and uses them as soon as i'm about to hit one. It is crazy and I am only playing on hard.

I FINALLY got him. Saving two powerups and hitting him with them one after the other worked best for me. Every powerup you get after that, hit him with it as soon as he gets a long set of cords to play. You have to get lucky with what type of powerup he hits on you, too. Lefty fucked me up bad every time.

Once you beat him, don't throw your guitar in victory. You have to "finish" him and play the last bit of the song to complete the battle.
 
I think I'm gonna have to get a different faceplate. This gloss black finish is a magnet for scratches and handmarks. Next iteration better be able to use 360's rechargeable battery packs though. Other than that, I haven't any complaints for it.

this may have been mentioned already, but i was just fooling around in the options, and went to top rockers. well none of my scores are saved from my band, only 1 score from a song my buddy played last night is on there. i find that very irritating, i just played through medium and hard and have no scores saved, i might as well play expert on quick play so i can leave my mark. anyone else notice this?

Same here.

I'm taking a break from Lou on Hard and playing through the game on Medium. I had to stop playing or else I would've thrown my guitar through the TV.

Is anyone else disappointed by the Aerosmith and Sonic Youth songs? Both are pretty forgettable and better choices (in songs) could've been made.

My fucking whammy bar doesn't work. What the hell, Red Octane? Twice in a row? It does nothing, even on the calibrate whammy screen. X-Plorer works fine. Am I missing something?
 
They still don't have the website accepting my code yet, and how do you change your location, I don't live in New York City, if I did I would probably be stabbed to death for my guitar hero 3 while bringing it home.
