Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/21 Dragonforce Track Pack
Yes, and and I have come here to whine about it.

My fucking whammy bar doesn't work. What the hell, Red Octane? Twice in a row? It does nothing, even on the calibrate whammy screen. X-Plorer works fine. Am I missing something?
Just a case of bad luck and getting a jank/shitty guitar. Time to e-mail RO?

I have no idea why Cliffs of Dover is in there...the guitar playing is not impressive and the song itself is weaksauce...sounds like it should be played on bagpipes..ha. IMO Eric Johnson is only known at all because Guitar magazines pimp him like no tomorrow. Of course it still blows away crap like Weezer and AFI.

Where the hell is Buckethead????

Is it me or is Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing" the worse song to play on this game. I mean, its like it has no rythim...I'm pressing buttons and strumming but I get no feeling of actually playing the song.

Don't judge the note tracking on any song unless you try it on expert.
Some songs are harder to 'dumb down' for the easier levels than others.

I thought Kool Thing was ok. Certainly not one of the worst songs in the game.

I'm still reeling over the fact that someone thought putting Poison in there was a good idea...

I haven't gotten that far yet, but it sounds to me that it's more your unfamiliarity with Sonic Youth than the game. I could be totally wrong; we'll see when I get there.

BTW, my copy arrived from Family Video today: $85 w/ 99 cent shipping FTMFW.

Just beat it on Hard today.

I only failed two songs.

Raining Blood and the Devil Went Down battle about 15 times.

Through The Fire and Flames is the shit!

The highest I got on expert was 1%!

My Gamefly rental failed to come today (Idk why when the shipping center [City of Industry] is next to me)

Anyway, went to Costco, saw plenty of GH3 bundles for 360, Wii, and PS3...grabbed the XBox 360 version of course for $90...saving $10 is better than nothing I guess.

Anyone having trouble with the Red Fret Button? It doesn't respond very well. If it keeps up, I'll exchange it.

Reassemble the controller, sometimes the connection isnt solid.

Sonic Youth is nowhere near the worst song either. I would take a collection of their work over some of the garbage they threw in there, and I don't even like Sonic Youth. Disturbed is 5th tier material? :bomb: Gross.

The neck of my wireless controller moves when it is connected. Should it be tight, or is mine defective? I can move it about an eighth of an inch when it is in the locked position.

Just beat it on hard. Only took 2 tries to beat Lou, but fucking Raining Blood took a shitload to get through that nasty ass triplet solo near the beginning.

Also, Through the Fire and Flames is AMAZING, though it's way way way too hard on expert.

Anyone have a clue of what song plays in the background while going through the menus that has a lot of clapping and almost a halloween vibe to it?

Bugging thr crap out of me that I dont know

If anyone wants to play co-op on XBL later, just hit me up with a friend request.

I still need to beat "Raining Blood" and "One" on Expert, though. :(

I finally fucking beat Lou earlier today on Expert. The way I pulled it off was to simply survive the first solo part by tossing my attacks right before he could try to grab his and just biding my time until the next wave of attacks came. I just made sure that I nailed the sequences to get my own attacks, above all else. I hit him with a couple in a row, then picked up and launched one more while he was struggling. Now to get past 1% on Through the Fire and Flames. ;)

Bugging thr crap out of me that I dont know
Monsters by Matchbook Romance. It's a co-op career exclusive, so you have to beat it there or put in a code to unlock it for quick play.

the xplorer works better on this than it did on GHII. Which leads me to believe the issues with using star power and hammer ons and pull offs was more with the game software than the guitar itself.
Awesome game. Now I need to grab GH1/2 cheap used since I sold mine a while back.
Good luck with that. I saw GS offering a preorder for a 2-disc set w/ GH1 and 2, game only (PS2 only, of course). $60 MSR-fucking-P.

Oh I know, I heard that song too and it really bugged me because I couldn't find it. I went through and listened to every song too.

On a side note, raining blood on expert is a bitch

If you mean the one that plays (I think) on the Solo/Co-op/etc. selection menu, it's "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance and is only playable on co-op career because Neversoft doesn't know what the fuck they're doing.

Does anyone have any tips on how to win Battles online?

I take most of them to Sudden Death but always lose even when I put Death Drain on first and get 100% notes correct.

I decided to grab just the game today after hearing about the controller problems. So I go to pay and the cashier fudged something up, and I ended up paying 20 bucks for the game.

Attack with multiple power-ups. Also if you are hosting pick a song you are really good at that might be obscure. I assume most people play the main songs and rarely play the bonus songs.

I've gotten a handful of wins online by playing one of my favorite songs in the game, "In The Belly of A Shark" By Gallows.

Has anyone gotten the 1000 streak achievement yet? You can get 900 notes in a row on "One" (Medium) until you get to the solo.
So is Velvet Revolver's Slither in this game? I cant seem to find this song or Sabotage...
No idea on Slither but Sabotage is the first encore on the co-op career.

you can also play it in the online matches (i played a ranked match against someone today and that was one of the songs we played)

I am highly considering picking this up, but im scared to get the new wireless guitar. Is it really THAT bad? and if it is decent, will it be good to use with the expert songs, if my skills ever do improve.

I know with DDR, the wireless pads were terrible for the more difficult songs, I dont know if this is still the case, or have they improved wireless peripherals in general?

My guitar does not work. The whammy bar is completely useless and at random times during a song the controller will become nonresponsive for all buttons except green. Also, Star power goes off as soon as I earn it without tilting anything. I'm returning this thing tomorrow. I'm so annoyed.

EDIT: I'm not the only one:
My fucking whammy bar doesn't work. What the hell, Red Octane? Twice in a row? It does nothing, even on the calibrate whammy screen. X-Plorer works fine. Am I missing something?
I'm having the same problem - I get nothing on the calibrate screen either.
The neck of my wireless controller moves when it is connected. Should it be tight, or is mine defective? I can move it about an eighth of an inch when it is in the locked position.
Mine too - I'm not sure if this is the problem but taking the neck off and putting it back in place didn't solve anything.

I think this guitar is a piece of shit. My second guitar (I returned the first one with a broken whammy bar, recall) is way too sensitive with star power. I usually play sitting down, but there is no way I can get this to not activate star power without standing. Even then, I have to consciously keep the neck super-low to keep from activating.

As if the defects weren't enough, I hate the mushy feel of the buttons coming off the X-Plorer. So I'm using the X-Plorer for now, debating whether or not I should return the game again to get a guitar that might be worth something.

So did anyone else get an email today from Best Buy saying to pick up your online preorder of the GH3 game only but you already picked it up at the midnight launch on Saturday but you decided anyway to go and see what happens and they gave you the game (again) and the guitar?

Yea, me neither.

hmm, im glad that i decided to stick with my old guitar, seems like theres a good number of people that are having problems.
this may have been mentioned already, but i was just fooling around in the options, and went to top rockers. well none of my scores are saved from my band, only 1 score from a song my buddy played last night is on there. i find that very irritating, i just played through medium and hard and have no scores saved, i might as well play expert on quick play so i can leave my mark. anyone else notice this?
can someone confirm this?

My hate for Slayer deepens. I'm starting out on Easy, and I beat every single song with 5 stars on the first try - except for the Slayer song, which I can't seem to get past 4 stars. I've tried it 4 times now, and I'm starting to think I won't ever get 5 stars.

Me three...first time was my red fret wasn't responsive and my star power goes off without tilting the guitar (and I was sitting down) then followed advice to reseat the neck...which I did...much better with the second time, but still star power is ultra sensitive.

My guitar works fine, but the game itself is making me motion sick, never had this problem with the first 2. Glad I got it from costco.

Oh yeah I got it from Costco as well...

I know they got the best return policies, but anything special when it comes to video games?

I think something is wrong with my guitar as well, though I am not sure what it is. All I know is that I can't get a streak going...I rarely even get one long enough for a 2x multiplier (I have gotten up to 4x by some miracle) on EASY. When I checked after completing a song, my average was 1.33. I'm pretty sure I did better the first time I played Guitar Hero (well, maybe the second ;) ). But I'm pretty sure that there's a problem when I have more trouble with Hit Me With Your Best Shot on easy than with Cochise on hard.
And after all the talk about them making the window bigger for hitting notes...

I made it to the Fight for Your Soul tier, or whatever it's called, on Hard with no problems, and then got my ass handed to me by both Slayer and Metallica. I managed to finish Cliffs of Dover, though. I'll have to try again in a couple days.

It plays a lot easier than any of the previous games, because I was absolutely nailing some solos that would have put my tail between my legs in GHII. I kind of like it.

Star power on all the guitars is funky. It's also funky with the Xplorer, so it's a hardware and software issue.

I hope Neversoft will patch it...this is one of the things that came up when Score Hero went out to test it, glad to see they paid attention...wait...
