Aw man...baby boy on or around 8/11...Will I have the money for this :whistle2:k
Just dip his thumb in powdered milk. (Never listen to me.)

Got in Underworld Evolution today and watched about 5-10 min of it so far. Pretty good quality, I'll try and finish it tonight and gave some impressions about it later.

Sweet. My purchase descision for this movie is in your hands ;)

Finally got a chance to watch Alpha Dog and simply on HD it's not that impressive. A few scenes did look pretty nice but others were rather grainy and saturated(both intended) with color that a viewing on standard DVD would be just fine. The movie itself could go either way for any viewer and how they relate to the material in the story. I found the kids really stupid and the movie was more of a comedy to me. I think the comedic lines delivered by the actors were intended but I'm not sure. All in all it was an ok movie but I don't recommend a purchase, a rental would suffice.

thanks...guess it will be a pass for me

Finally got Planet Earth from Best Buy today. It was marked $99.99, but a simple printout from Target got it for $66.99, not bad.
Ahhhhhh. I wanted to pick this up off this ebay auction you just posted... but I can't cancel my amazon order :whistle2:(.
I'm shocked its still available. Had I not JUST bought my copy today I would have snagged this... oh well. Someone else here can get in on it.

I would be all over it if it wasn't from a trader from 02 with two current feedbacks under his belt and an overall 33-1 record.

-------

Has anybody imported Total Recall?

I have been bouncing around the idea of importing that and either Terminator 2 or The Pianist.

Would that be a YMMV deal? I would love to pick up Planet Earth locally for that price.

Same here. Were you able to turn off the Spanish subs Rock?

Just pulled the trigger on Total Recall and La Haine (I heard alot of good things about this movie and importing the HD-DVD was only a few dollars more then the Criterion)

I'll have photos and comments up when I receive them. :)

Considering I still haven't gotten around to getting Terminator 2 on DVD (yeah, I know) I'm definetly getting that French version from xploited cinema when it comes out.

Thanks for this tip-off, did the same thing and got it at Best Buy today. I just hope I don't end up with three copies of this thing... I tried to cancel my WHV order and order it from Amazon... can't cancel that so I might try to return that one to Best Buy :whistle2:D

I was just in FYE today and they have a coupon in their in-store ad for 40% off any one used item. This is pretty nice for games or movies. I saw a few used HD DVD's for $15, so it came to just under $10 after tax.

Sorry guys, was kinda sick this weekend but got to watch Underworld Evolution on Friday.

The main point that everyone keeps talking about (the Spanish subtitles), yes you can turn it off! Just follow the instructions that's been posted and you should have no problems with it.

As for the movie itself, it looks really good in HD. Probably the one scene that everyone talks about when they discuss about UW E in HD is the scene where it shows a close up of Marcus' eye, I wasnt that impressed. But for the most part, everything looks great, especially when they're in the snow. PQ, I would give a 8/10

Sound, I dont have any fancy speakers or anything, just the default on my HDTV. So I cant really give an accurate review about that but I did pick up on some stuff that I never noticed before when watching the film (like at the beginning of the film with the words scrolling across the screen, you can hear lines from the first film).

Bonus features, I think they got everything from the SD on here. Only thing that should be noted is that a couple of the extras are dubbed over in Spanish. The rest are in English.

Overall, I love the Underworld series (if you hadnt noticed by my pic and sig) so I would recommend this.

Got it at Xploited Cinema for $40 shipped (fastest delivery option, around $36 if you want the slowest). Bought it on Tuesday night and got it on Friday. Last time I checked, they were out of stock but I would get it from them if they did restock. Great service.

Thanks Rock. I'm placing my order asap.

edit: Just placed order...supposed to have stock on 5/12.

On another note. If anyone is interested in HD Net's series Bikini Destinations, they are currently going for $9.99 on HD DVD:

They have other series as well but they sell at 19.99

Yeah, I'm just waiting to see if it's a 2-disc set like some people were saying before I pull the trigger on Terminator 2.

Total Recall was one of my favorite movies growing up. :) Thankfully I had a Dad who let me watch horribly kid inappropriate movies.

Never having had HDNet for any real period of time, this is new and interesting. What's the concept here? Hot chicks roam the Earth in random locations doing stuff like hiking, biking, etc.?
Tokyo Drift sucked ass! One of the worst movies ever! I loved F&F 1 & 2 but TD was horrendous.
That's funny because i thought the first one was trash. The second one minutely better. The third one a blast.

i give up on hd dvd world. i don't mind the long shipping times if the owner was just honest about it instead of saying it already shipped.

sucks cause they do have good prices on most things

I had to dispute through PayPal to get my money back for the cancellation of the Matrix Trilogy. I did get it right after my dispute but it took about a month for me to actually decide to push that far. Never shopping from them again, unless there's some ridiculous sale...and I'll have to think hard about it then.

I can't bad mouth MovieMinded.

After my Planet Earth went MIA, MovieMinded overnighted me a copy to make things right.

Pretty admirable since the overnight shipping alone was 22 dollars and that's not including him eating the cost of the lost movie.
I've placed a big order with HDDVDWorld a little while back and even though the experience has been hit-and-miss, after my RAGE subsided I realized that MovieMinded has been nothing but helpful.

Not only did he answer all of my questions I have been PMing him (which is where all of this support shit should go if you really want to talk to him) but he has been trying his damnest not only to keep me a customer but a happy customer.

Posting about a bad experience is fine but filling the guy's thread with pages of !-( is a little much.

-----------

My first HD-DVD was a little late (Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas; shipped 26th; recieved the 2nd)

My second HD-DVD (A Scanner Darkly) was actually a day early.

My third HD-DVD (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) showed up two days after it's release date.

My fourth HD-DVD (Planet Earth) is MIA in the mail and after 10 days, he offered to overnight me a replacement or refund my money. I just decided to go with the overnight replacement.

In my anger, around the 5 day late mark for Planet Earth, I just canceled the rest of my order. He offered to upgrade the rest of it to Express Mail but at this point I just wanted out.

Overall HDDVDWorld has been hit-and-miss, kind of slow on the draw shipping wise but I always got my movies in the end.

And at these prices, that's the thing that really matters most.
so with the news of the dashboard update this week, anyone know the timeframe for the HD DVD update?

EDIT: I also heard that on the Spider-Man 3 movie release, Regal Cinemas was previewing The Matrix on HD DVD...kinda funny. I didn't get to see it since I went to a Cinemark Theater. Can anyone confirm this?

yes and no... it was shown... but during the commercials before the trailers began.

video in the commercial was great, but it sounded as if someone forgot to raise the volume when it came on.
Also Linkin and Asian, if you're still wondering about the PQ of UW E, some guy at the AVS forums posted screenshots of it.

Thanks a bunch. As with LP, I wanted to make sure the PQ was great before I plopped down that much for a movie.
Is Pan's Labyrinth coming out on hd?
Just 1 and 2 disc SE (DVD) on May 15th. I haven't heard of any kind of HD release of the film, which is a shame.
