Yes, those aviator shades really make Alvin more badass. Don't forget the bunny ears for Elize, elf ears for Milla, and the old man's headband.

Nier is worth playing multiple times over.

I did.

Chick is hella kray.

I was like "Vow? Shit gurl you gonna try n put a vow on my luv?"

Then I walked outside and saw that there were way too many people to talk to, so I stopped playing.
Did you at least get her "big warning of the future"?

Only played about an hour or so of Nier, and so far its coming off as a mash-dat-button action game, with very little RPG-ness. I can only assume it gets better?

Panzerfaust, you should play boardgames with us. We did Small World Underground last week; think we're doing Betrayal at House on the Hill this week.

I mainly had a problem with constantly recharging it.

It's just one extra thing to do at the Turtlez Shop. I mean, the shops are usually exactly where you'd want or need them, and you're going to stop there to resupply, sell, and dualize anyways, so it's really not a big deal.

Now I wonder if I should've started Xillia first. I really like Graces F's battle system and characters, and it sounds like Xillia's systems and story aren't as fun.

Xillia is a good game and I'm having fun with it, to me It's just not as fun as Grace. I just started the game so maybe it will get better later in the game. Grace started off slow too so I'll give Xillia a chance. I don't care too much for the characters. Jude is the only character I like so far. Milla is basically what everyone describes. Her voice acting is horrible and she sounds so robotic. Sophie was monotone but she was likable. Maybe If I played as Jude first, I would had more fun with the game.

I like Milla.

Didn't have a problem with her voice acting. She has a lisp but ... what of it?

There's something about her where she still plays the typical "curious about the world to guide the reader/player" protagonist yet still has this badass streak about her.

Yeah, I don't remember what she said though.

I'm going to have to face some challenges three and die while I can or something?

I was too distracted by the Jennifer Hale to really pay any attention.
Well, so long as you got Raise Dead from her. Have fun talking to everyone. Make sure you canvas the Smouldering Corpse pretty well.

Are these board game nights secretly organized now? I suppose I'll idle on skype more often.
I think Josh handles that stuff.

I might just start Xillia now before I finish Graces F.  Might take the edge off of the gameplay/story differences.

Also, PS3 FFXIV users get a free upgrade to PS4 version.  I might jump in sooner rather than later.

I finished the first chapter with Milia at level 22. I starting to like the characters a bit more. I'm just not feeling Milia's voice. I do love her and Jude's combat.

I decided to take a break from Xillia. I'm enjoying it and the combat is fun. iDOLM@STER costumes be making dem gurls kawaii. Or something. Alvin has a swimsuit.

So I've been listening to Xenoblade Chronicles's OST recently and it's making me want to do another playthrough. I thought the game was fantastic at the time, but the more I think of it, it might be in my Top 5 RPG list. I'm hoping X is just as good.

Psssssssssst... Adamantoise. ;D

Or you can go to Cactuar like every other player. ;__;

Finished my second playthrough of Barkley Gaiden this evening. Overall, it was pretty much as I remembered, though the font used for the dialogue wasn't the best and the battle backgrounds were missing throughout the Mac port.

Also, there was one bit in Cuchulainn's Tomb that bugged me, and I think it bugged me during my first playthrough as well...

Charles Barkley is tempted with Incan gold instead of Maureen coming back to life?! That's so wrong.

...

Maybe that's the point, though. I wouldn't put it past this game.

Yeah I knew KHIII wasn't coming til like 2017...

Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV will have a few years wait in between
Shinji Hashimoto, the producer of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, has told IGN there’s going to be a long wait between upcoming JRPGs Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV, due to the titles sharing a director: Tetsuya Nomura.

KH3VG.jpg

The kicker is, of course, that Square havn’t said how far Kingdom Hearts III is through development compared to Final Fantasy XV, so we don’t yet know which we’ll have to wait a few more years for Nomura to finish. When asked, Hashimoto said “We announced it at E3″ becayse”A lot of people have wondered for the past couple of years if Square Enix has actually been working on Kingdom Hearts III

“But please, we all need you to understand there’s a lot to do.

“Both have Tetsuya Nomura as their director, so we can’t create these two big games at the same time. It’s a difficult job, as we want each game to be perfect in terms of quality.”

Thanks, IGN.

-Yeah that's bull, KH was extremely early, FFXV has been in development how long now and seemed much further along.

I'm not enjoying Xillia as much as Graces F.  The battle system is a step backwards IMO, more like older Tales games.  Also the GP/grid system of leveling up is lame and unnecessarily complex--a literal spider's web of choices?  Shading off of "areas"?  Not intuitive at all.

I don't like how you start the game
with powers and then have those powers taken away...I HATE THAT SHIT GAME DEVS.  STAHP DOING THAT SHIT YOU ARE NOT CLEVER AND YOU ARE NOT MAKING THE GAME FUN
.

I think game gets better later though?  I hope so.  Makes me want a Graces 2 or at least carry over of the Battle System into a future Tales game.

Is anyone surprised at this point? The game that's now Final Fantasy XV was originally announced in 2006 and we don't even have a firm release window for it yet. It could come out next year or in 2015 for all we know. This is par for the course for Square now. Have to shake my head a little at anyone who thought just because Kingdom Hearts was announced at E3 that it was coming in a year or something.

They even said when KH3 was announced that FFXV was their priority,so it shouldn't be a surprised to anyone.

In other news Project Phoenix ended their kickstarter at over a 1 million.Surprised they were able to hit that in the last few hours.

I actually cancelled my Project Phoenix pledge because they announced the Vita version but couldn't/wouldn't give details like which pledge levels would be entitled to a Vita copy or whether the Founder DLC would be included. One of the updates implied that you'd need to pledge at least $120 to get the Founder DLC on PS4/Vita, as opposed to $35 for the PC download. Sha right! I'll let them sort it all out then just buy the game the old-fashioned way.

Kingdom Hearts DDD actually seems to be more challenging than the other KH games. I don't remember having to make several attempts on the early bosses in  KH 1 or 2. Heck, I remember just breezing through one except for that one dragon/Maleficent boss.

That KH3 news, hrm, it kinda pisses me off. They do a trilogy of FF13 that no one asked for, Agito/Type-0 if that counts, 2 versions of a failed MMO (FF14. Also, no MMO has EVER been relaunched in history, so much time wasted) and now FF15 before we get a sequel that was implied/promised?

I've been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 ever since I unlocked the secret hidden ending teaser/spoiler for KH3 at the end of KH2 way back in 2006. I didn't expect KH3 next year at all, judging from the E3 footage. But I was expecting it around 2 years, with playable at E3 2015, which will be even further if waiting for FF15 to finish first which has been in dev hell since 2006 and recently switched over to a main FF title.

I'm not raging mad but it would be nice to have a real entry in the KH series instead of all these handhelds, spread out over 3 handheld systems. Now if they actually let you PLAY these handheld games for KH2 2.5 HD collection instead of just watching a video of them, that'd be a bonus.

I really liked Graces f battle system, best of any Tales of game. After playing it I went back to Abyss and was shocked at so many little annoyances that stuck out.

That said, Xillia battle system is still fun. Once you are later in the game with more skills and have a handle on how to Link Artes back/forth between different party members, build Overdrive, and Chain Link during Overdrive it can be really fun.

The spider web of unlocking stats, SP skills, and Artes wasn't that bad, gives you choice. Until you find out GP given per level up is on a bell curve. The moment I saw myself getting less GP per level up, I was like noooo. When you only get 2 GP per level and it takes 10-12 to unlock a Skill, ouch.

damn I don't know how I didn't hear about Project Phoenix, likely would have backed.  is there a way to browse all game projects and not just staff/popular ones?

It's pretty much another standard Tales game for me, which is just fine, I think it's arguable that the series might've peaked with Vesperia.

Xillia story is starting to pick up now. it's starting to get a little dark.

Elise's story kind of tugs at the heart strings. Finding out your parents died, sold for experiments at a young age, and best friend turns out to be a robot finally took a toll on her. Plus the people of Hamil treated her like crap didn't help either.

Playing Grace and Xillia makes me want to play other Tales games. Since Abyss is on the 3DS I'll pick it up eventually. I heard so much about Vesperia over the years I want to play it so bad but I don't have a 360. I can't wait for Xillia 2 next year and hopefully the Vita Tales of games come out to the US as well.

My big gripe with Vesperia is that the story seemed straight out of the PS era when people didn't finish it and there were half-assed resolutions to some of them, especially the Raven/Schwann arc.

I think there's room to go up.

I haven't played Graces F so I dunno the battle system changes, but I'm not really thrilled with Xillia's. I feel like they keep trying to complicate it and it actually results in less clarity and more button mashing.

I hate having to hold down L2 to free roam, but the chain artes system isn't too bad.  The level up system is a mess though.

Is Free Run ever even necessary?

I remember using it very sparingly in Abyss and practically never in Graces (I mean, that shit eats up your CC).

Been dying a lot in the sixth maze/stratum in EO4 tonight. Now this is the Etrian Odyssey I remember!

That bit of grindiness aside, I think it's time for me to start something new, but I'm not sure what yet. Strongly considering Pokemon Black 2, though.

Yeah it is. In Graces, it helps to keep from getting surrounded, and overall, it just feels more natural to action. I dunno how I played the other Tales games before Abyss.

I never really saw it as useful unless you were getting backed into a wall or something.

Do you guys play in manual mode or semi-auto?

I think I only used free run against a couple of bosses in both Xillia and Graces f and ignored it for 98% of the game. In Xillia, I did use the L1 sidestep a ton, and when I learned that skill, the battle system improved drastically.
