I can't believe no one mentions this, this is an open world game where you don't have to start a mission from the very beginning every time you die or fail an objective. This is fairly major. They even let you restart some of the longer foot race missions in the middle if you run out of time.

So while you'll die, it's never frustrating or unfair and you don't have to replay big chunks or back track, at least if you die in a mission.
That is great to know! That is one of the more frustrating things I find about games like GTA, is when I die or run out of time and have to re-do the mission over from the start.
I love this game. This is the best superhero and best open world game I've played this gen. It's insulting to even mention it with Assassin's Creed or GTA IV.
You are kidding right? I remember playing AC thinking "holy shit this is awesome" ..... inFamous is just a good game. AC (for me) was a turning point for sandbox games in dealing with climbing buildings (getting around in general) and more realistic integration of npc's into your actions...

They both suffer badly from repetition though...

The one thing about inFamous that REALLY pisses me off is how a bad guy can spot me from a fucking mile away on top of a 10 stary building. In AC it was awesome to sneak up on someone through a crowd or just go unnoticed.
I've yet to find the last two shards. I actually had a dream last night where they kept showing up on my radar even though they weren't there.
lol, I keep think ingI see that last one on the radar but it's not. I've rechecked all docks and bridges, so now I need to re-check each district...block by block. I might end up using that gameguide Gamespot posted to help me...

I have a question about that one boss fight in Warren
Is there any way to get positive Karma instead of negative when you encounter that big scrap metal boss guy when chasing after Alden? You know that conduit that's inside that big body of scrap metal that throws the flaming boulders and machine guns you who's inside that park the hobo enemies took over with the wrecked plane. I used Karmic overload to blast him with rockets (forget the real name) the first time and got negative Karma so I reloaded and tried again using regular shots and waiting for some option but same thing happened. I also tried restraining him vs letting him just sit there on his hands and knees. Did I need to run up to him when the chest opens and the conduit inside is exposed because I never had enough time to get close enough?
You are kidding right?
Nope. AC was a lot more repetitive and you repeated things that weren't fun even the first time, and I say this as someone who played the improved PC version. I would never have finished if I had to do like the consoles and slowly walk several miles through featureless countryside to get from town to town. In Infamous you electric slide on wires from city to city and glide from place to place.

The climbing is faster, more energetic and the combat isn't even comparable. Infamous blows AC's tedious "Counter Strike, wait, Counter Strike, wait, Counter Strike" combat "system" out of the water. The value of this cannot be overstated since this is a large part of what makes the 15th "Go kill all those dudes" side mission different than the 1st or the 5th or the 10th, which is something that never manifested in AC (the complete lack of effort to vary enemies, locations, etc. didn't help either).

I might do that as well. I just finished my first run (evil Cole) last night with all upgrades, all dead drops, and all missions completed, but still have one more blast shard to find. It's been frustrating because I've searched through two islands already, both each block and docks, but still no dice. If I can't find that last shard in the last island, it's Gamespot guide time.

Doesnt sound like you played assassin's creed....you had this thing called a horse that you rode through the countryside on. inFamous' "combat" system isnt a combat system...its a 3rd person shooter....Assassin's creed's kills were all physically/combat related. It was all hand to hand...just like it would be in the time it took place. The "combat" in infamous is stand as far away as your power will reach and then mash square or circle till your energy drains then tap R1 as fast as humanly possible...

the reapers/dustmen/first sons planted surveilance devices on my building....

we need you to escort the reapers/dustmen/first sons to jail...

the reapers/dustmen/first sons are attacking the police station!

go collect my packages!

etc...

as far as varying enemies there are 3 types in infamous..reapers, dustmen and the first sons. they are all clones of each other...each has their conduit, regular asshole with a gun, asshole with a rocket launcher and asshole that blows up when it gets near you.

Seriously..have you actually played either game? They are the same shit with one difference - AC is more realistic and inFamous is over the top...

shards/dead drops = flags

new powers = new moves/weapons

islands = kingdoms

werent you after a round glowing thing in AC just like inFamous?

That you couldn't actually ride full speed or every guard would chase you to the ends of the earth trying to kill you, forcing you into another boring "Counterstrike, wait, Counterstrike, wait, Counterstrike" 10 minute fight.

However I think you've caught a bit of the fanboy, so I'll just leave it with saying the games are superficially similar, as all open world games are, but Infamous is much better in it's execution, much less repetitive, and much, much, much more fun to play.

I liked both AC and this. They are both pretty repetitive, but they also have elements that kept me interested. AC's combat was fun, and this makes traveling around quite entertaining. I loved flipping back and forth between the train rails and building up speed on a power line and flying over a building or two.

It took me like 2 months to actually beat AC (which I just did a little over a week ago), and it took me 4 days to beat inFamous. So I think it's obvious which one I liked better.

The combat in AC was terrible, it basically amounted to sit there and hold R1 until an enemy attacks you and then use the never fail counter.

There were only two different enemies in AC (not counting the targets): ones with swords and ones with bows.

The side missions in inFamous are at least interesting plus you don't have to do them like you do in AC. Everytime I would start a new mission on AC, I'd do the bare minimum of side missions to start the assasination.

I have no plans on buying AC2 unless I can get it for about $20, but if they made an inFamous 2, I'd get it first day again.

Yeah! motherfucker! 100% shards! It took me days to find those last two and they were both in essentially the same type of area near the water. A piece of advice for those who only need one more, check on the east side of the Neon in between 2 docks with buildings on them. You have to jump out on about 5 or 6 poles into the middle of the water.

The biggest difference between inFamous and AC side missions

inFamous: You see an enemy, you blow it up.

AC: You see an enemy, you say "fuck! Don't see me, don't see me. I am the wall." And then, if he sees you, you fail the mission and then have to spend the next 10 minutes losing the guards and restarting the mission.
Hmmm, I really can't see how one can say the sidemissions in this are interesting, while the side missions in AC aren't.
Again, this game has an actual combat system and that alone is enough to make any side missions with enemies more interesting. Moreover there's more than one type of enemy and they don't all take turns attacking you one you one by one waiting to be counter-stabbed.

No mission involves sitting on bench watching a cut scene.

Or, let's compare the pickpocket in AC to the package drop in Infamous. In both have to follow enemies in take their stuff. In AC this means walking very slowly for a few feet and making sure no meatheads are around when you press "A." In Infamous there's actual strategy involved as you have to find the best route to follow the guy and avoid any enemies (or take them out), and you can climb, slide, jump, and use cover to do this. You even get to sticky grenade the prick as a reward for your patience.

Yeah, AC is a stealth game, but who said an open-world stealth game was a good idea?

is asasins creed really that bad? ive been wanting to try it for a while but if its as bad as youre saying it is i guess its beter to pas it up.

Still missing one shard... And I got that one already. I checked and re-checked the docks so it has to be somewhere by one of the building. I decided to start a new game for the time being. I can go back later and try and find that last shard...

Hey you guys having trouble getting the Evil to the Core or True Hero trophies? I just finished Good Side ending, and that playthrough was on Hard, so now I'm just at least 3000 xp short of my last Good side power up >_

Thus far (having played all the way through AC but i'm just at mission 9 in InFamous) I can say that at least InFamous gives you more options for engaging enemies. But then Cole also has the advantage of being able to land safely from any height and more variety in the building types.

I wish Altair could've jumped off short buildings and pounced on enemies with the hidden blade/sword just to give it some variety. Or at least stealth kill the actual targets with the throwing knives. (they were a 1 hit kill on every single enemy but them) Just to vary it up a bit. The crossbow that he had in the intro movie probably would've added that option.

Cole at least has the option of his long range shots and grenades from far away, and the aerial stomp, shockwave, and melee attacks up close (plus whatever attacks i haven't acquired yet)

has anyone been able to download the Uncharted 2 beta yet, or is it not abalible to download untill the 3rd? I went to download mine last night and it said my code was invalid.
I checked and re-checked the docks so it has to be somewhere by one of the building.
I thought that too, but both of my missing ones were around the coast. The other one was on the east side of the Historic District on a broken wooden dock.

I used the sphere and it pretty much doubled my power.

I thought the ending was meh, I saw it coming from a mile away. Good game, though. Not great, but good.

I just realized my trophies aren't working. I have no trophies for this, and when I go to my list of trophies, Infamous isn't even on the list.

I also downloaded Noby Noby Boy and I can't even play it because while it's loading up it says my trophies aren't working and to reboot the game.

Anyone know what's wrong?

Man, I finally found that last shard!! Woo! For some reason I missed it because it wasn't exactly a hidden one. Oh well, that's done.

Anyway, I'm looking at my save file and it says I'm at 90% completion. I have collected all the blast shards and dead drops, upgraded all my powers, and completed all the missions. Is there a reason why I'm 10% away from completion? I did evil Cole by the way.

I only have 85%, and I've completed everything except the stunts. I noticed other people saying they've only gotten 90% completion too.

Hmm, maybe those Gamestop gigawatt blades are necessary? That's weird though. I guess it doesn't really matter if I end up getting all the trophies anyway, right?

Maybe there are more lynchings around town you have to intervene in? All I know is I don't know how I'm going to find these last 10 shards...any tips to combing the islands? I've rode the rails all the way around all 3 islands.

Wow looks like i'm alot further along than I thought I was. I kept looking at my completion percentage which is 27% and thinking I had alot more game left but after getting curious and peeking at the IGN walkthrough it looks like i've just got 4 main missions left.

I'll never find all the shards and dead drops as i'll never even try lol i'm not obsessive. I've been focusing on the main story the last couple days after a couple days of screwing around beefing Cole up. Fun game but i'm ready for Uncharted 2 beta (thanks Rafael122) and Prototype and Ghostbusters and and and lol good games coming from all sides! :D

EDIT: damn I completely missed the more coming soon part, the story seems to be winding down and i'm almost done for real for real now.

Got my home code as well at 4am.

It states "Also, each claim code is unique and can't be shared." in the e-mail but I'm not sure if that really means it can't be game-shared, probably just not shared across accounts.

I just beat it as a good guy. Was pretty good. Liked the ending. Anyone that says they saw that coming is full of shit.

Anywho...gonna have to go through as a bad guy now...

Well not the time travel per se, but I definitely saw Kessler and Cole being the same person.

Ugh, WHY did I click on this..... :wall:

Yeah, you only need to upgrade you Postie/Negative Karma powers to get those upgrade trophies.

Actually finding the Dead Drops are pretty easy to find since when you're close enough to one your radar will tell what direction it's in(also you get as trophy when find all the Dead Drops in a district)... unlike the shards where you need to be pretty close to them in order to see them appear on your Radar.

Check the water fronts and dock areas since alot of those places look the same it can pretty easy to think you already checked them. Then check all the Bridges(including the one where you fought the giant Golem on, there are like 2 just after you fight him.) Also you should climb every tall building(Dustman Tower, The Prison and that giant building by ground zero in the Historic District) again since you can't scan the top of them from the ground. And if you still haven't found them all after that your best better is to search block by block.

If the game automatically changed my difficulty to hard after I played the first mission and I haven't changed it, I'm not going to get the trophy for beating it on hard, am I? :[

Yeah...

...it was kind of apparent there was SOME sort of connection there, because of the things Sasha was saying.

Just finished it as a good guy but only had 47% complete since i'm not at all into looking for shards/drops no matter how easy they are to find.

Pretty fun game overall and I liked the ending, beat it on medium.

Back to Gamefly with you so someone else can enjoy! I'll watch the bad endings on Youtube one of these days. lol

What exactly makes the good/evil meter move? I've picked good for every moral choice, but every once in a while I end up with evil after a mission after blowing too much shit up. Will that prevent me from hitting Hero? I'm about halfway through Warren and it looks like my meter is about to hit the 3rd level of good.

Also, if I run around for an hour healing people on the ground will that push me over the edge, or are the good/evil missions the only thing that makes it change?
I can't get the Have a Nice Fall stunt, any hints? I'm already 100% done with Neon, 50% on Warren.
Towards the end of Warren...

You and Zeke go the Dustmen Tower. There will be a couple of opportunities for you to fight multiple opponents here. Just keep trying to get three of them close together and then use the power. If you don't get it, just jump off the tower and keep trying.

If you blow up too much stuff during a mission you will end up with a lot of collateral damage to civilians that gives you bad Karma. So, when playing as a Hero you really need to be more deliberate and precise with your shots. I got full Hero status at the start of Warren. Also, yes healing people gives you slightly more positive Karma. If you accidentally down civilians in battle be sure and heal them afterward if they are not dead. Keep in mind if you look at the Karma meter in the top left it will either glow Blue for good or Red for bad Karma actions (i.e. when you heal someone the top quarter lights up and glows for a moment to indicate good Karma). In addition, when you get the XP text for your actions Blue text = positive Karma, Red text = negative Karma, Gray text = no Karma effect.
I can't get the Have a Nice Fall stunt, any hints?
I'm having trouble with that one, too...I always seem to encounter 2 dudes on a rooftop instead of 3.

I found another opportunity for the Have a Nice Fall stunt while playing the evil side.

When you do the evil karma side mission in the Warren where you follow a bunch of reaper conduits to attack some Dustmen, it leads to a rooftop with a ton of enemies. The respawn point is perfect too because it's very near the start of the battle. I pulled a Thunderdrop on a bunch of them and while they were down I targeted three with the Shockwave. Took me a couple (read: a lot) of tries because of the hard difficulty, but I think you should be able to pull it off in one or two tries on normal or easy.

bout halfway into the warren and I'm about 80-% clear in reaper territory. I have never really played side missions in a sandbox before. I really do enjoy this one, probably even more so than crackdown (the last sandbox i really got into).

Any word on future dlc? I would love to have some tools like crackdown where you could spawn virtually anything just to play with.

Someone mentioned that the side mission called Dark Waters is good for Have a Nice Fall because there are usually three/four guys on a roof. Just make sure they're lined up and you get them in one shot.
