Their first match for the hardcore title at Invasion still holds the title for Best DDT I've Ever Seen. Jeff did a running swinging DDT on Rob, and he must have sprung a good 2 feet in the air. He probably took a better one in ECW, but I've seen very little ECW.
I never saw InVasion, to be honest.

Except for the ref fight, it doesn't sound half bad. I know how the main event ends though ;)

SMACKDOWN! SPOILERS BELOW...

**SPOILERS** WWE SmackDown! Taping Results
Date Added: July 05, 2005
Story By: Matthew Boone
Thanks to Cedric Ordonez for the following SmackDown spoiler report from Sacremento, California last night after RAW:

After the changeover, JBL, not entering via limo, started Smackdown off with a promo against Batista before his music came on again and the limo came out. I was expecting Orlando Jordan and was pretty surprised to see the bWo come out. They had an exchange that set up JBL vs Blue Meanie for the show. Mostly ECW chants from the crowd with a few bWo chants. I'm sure most of the crowd didn't know what was going on or about the backstory between JBL & Meanie, so the segment got a mild reaction.

Eddie-Rey backstage promo was up next. Eddie wants Rey to be his partner, but Rey naturally tries to decline until Eddie brings up "their little secret". I'm already groaning of what this secret could potentially be.

The Blue Meanie pinned JBL after Batista ran in and gave a spinebuster to JBL and threw an out of it Meanie on top of JBL. Stevie Richards delivered a nasty chairshot to JBL that appeared to bust him open hardway.

MNM defeated Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero to retain the tag titles when Nitro (?) pinned Rey. The main story during the match was Eddie walking off the apron and sitting out most of the match, forcing Rey to go at it alone. Rey nearly won singlehandedly, but Eddie attacked Rey and allowed MNM to finish him off. After the match, Eddie tries to get Rey to strike him, but reminds him of their little secret, then brings up Rey's son. Eddie forces Rey to open up the ropes for him on his exit.

Matt Morgan NC William Regal when the Mexicools make an appearance and squash Morgan with highspots topped off with a triple team baseball slide to force Morgan out of the ring. Regal never even entered the ring. The Mexicools cut a promo, most of which I didn't understand. The highlight was Juventud running down ethnicities then proceeding to pull his eyes into slits upon mentioning the Japanese. Great way to be racially sensitive, boys.

Undertaker squashes Daivari with a chokeslam and Tombstone, but the big thing is Hassan summoning 5 or 6 masked men that just kinda look like terrorists to destroy the Undertaker, beating him and choking him out with piano wire. Hassan adds on a camel clutch for extra measure, and if that wasn't enough, the masked terrorists lift Daivari up above their heads like a martyr and carry him to the back. I sincerely wish I was making this up.

Batista defeated Christian after a Batista Bomb. JBL and Orlando Jordan attempt to run in after the match but Batista fends them both off, delivering a Batista Bomb to OJ in the process. After the cameras stopped rolling, Batista posed for the crowd some more and seemed a bit moved by the crowd reaction.
Damn. I caved. That sounds AWESOME!!!! I'm definately going to watch it.
It does sound pretty good. Definitely better than what SmackDown! used to be.

So, something none of us thought about during the mega-mediocre trade from last week...bWo will be around for awhile!?!?!?

I mean, why trade Nova and Stevie Richards if you're going to only do a one night angle?

Lovely how 75% of the SD show this week revolves around guys from Raw. Raw got screwed on the draft, and it's only gonna get worse when Randy Orton returns to the ring.

I'm hoping that this is the end of the whole Simon Dean thing though.
I'm loving this DVD more and more by the minute.

Tori and Ivory backstage.. pretty decent match, actually, involving irons, fake mirrors, etc.. they brawl to the shower and Jacqueline's in there taking a shower.. Tori throws Ivory on a table in the guy's locker room.. the only guy I can remember being in the room was Albert/A-Train. I wish they still had Hardcore matches like this, I loved seeing them fight around the arena.

The way those stills look I just thought it was HLA. I didn't realize it was Tori or Ivory either.

Nope, it was just a regular hardcore match, I remember it ending with Tori pinning Ivory in one of the consension stands.

Watched Raw from last night this morning since I wasn't home to catch it.

The diva contestant that popped out of her top did have red pasties covering, so there was no free peek. From the looks of it, I'm going out on a limb and saying that Ashley will win it. You could tell last year that Christy was going to win since she had the most unique look out of them and Ashley seems the same this year.

As for Hogan/HBK, it's about damn time HBK turned heel. I've been waiting since he came back to see him become a bad guy again. Unlike when Stone Cold turned heel a few years back, where the fans really didn't believe him to be the bad guy, HBK can definitely pull it off. I'm guessing that it will end with a match at Summerslam between the two. As for last night, it did seem like Hogan was hogging the attention near the end, so that will probably be mentioned next week as to why.

Also, WTF is with Chavo Guerrero? And it wasn't shown last night, but they've repackaged Rob Conway into a Buff Bagwell type character.

Oh, and was anyone laughing their ass off when one of the diva search girls fell on her ass after kicking her leg in the air? I was! That was funny as hell. :)

She makes up for it by being one of the only two I'd consider hot. Her and Cameron are hot. The rest are a whole lot a meh. Though I still think this is a stupid stupid thing to waste precious time on.

damn i always have to avoide the boards between tuesdays and thursdays so i can watch smackdown spoilerfree.

why cant it just be live dammit!!

Ya, but you're in love with Christian Bale so you definition of attractive clearly varies from most :p Seriously though, there isn't one of them I wouldn't fuck if given the opportunity, regardless of if she'd melt if I dripped hot candle wax on her chest.
as in wwe hardocre 2000 is that the one?
WWF Hardcore, the DVD I linked to one page back.

Christ I'd rather go to a wrestling school opened by Abdullah the Butcher than Bob Holly. Probably makes you sign quite a few waivers before enrolling.

Six Superstars Released
July 5, 2005

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to agreements on the release of the following Superstars, WWE would like to wish them the best in their future endeavors.

Mark Jindrak
Maven
Shannon Moore
James Yun (Akio)
David Heath
Billy Kidman

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goodbye Jindrak! It's about fucking time! Mayve someone from WWE corporate was actually reading the Jim Duggan topic!

Let's see... moving along, not surprised they finally gave up on Maven, he just wasn't over, and wasn't ever going to be over. You can't teach charisma.

Akio, really hasn't been on tv much anymore, so this fails to surprise me much as he wasn't over at all either.

I had no idea Gangrel was still under contract. I remember he showed up awhile ago, pity they didn't bring him back on TV a little more. I was always a fan of the Gangrel character, especially his entrance. I really think he could've gotten over with a little push.

I am somewhat shocked they let go of Billy Kidman though, especially since Torrie is still on the active roster, PLUS they're pumping the cruiser division up with the mexicools, but that's WWE logic for you. At least they kept Paul London. Who might still be the champion, but WWE has done stranger things.

Shame about Shannon Moore, the guy is extremely talented IMO. I'm sure TNA will welcome him with open arms, especially since Jeff Hardy considers Shannon to be like a little brother. Probably see a Jeff & Shannon tag team down there, although it would've been much cooler had it happened in the WWE. Plus doesn't this again go against expanding the cruiserdivision?

 I know man, I wouldn't wanna go through that kind of torture.

Well, no reason to sit on these fuckers if TNA needs 'em.

Too bad Billy Kidman got way into the WWE style of physique. He's far too muscular and thick to work the style he is known for, which would make him fantastic in the X-division. He has months upon months of dining on laxatives if he wants to get into shape to work in TNA. Otherwise, they won't touch him (or, given that he fucks up the SSP 60% of the time, they probably won't touch him at all).

Maven? I suppose that the writing was on the wall once Simon Dean was traded; the only successful Tough Enough winner has been...well, nobody really. Josh Matthews does Velocity and Johnny Nitro is a current tag champ, but he's only spent limited time on WWE tv (though he does look good, act the part well, and is a half decent wrestler). Daniel Puder? Never heard of the kid.

Gangrel? I think WWE wants to push the guy, even today. The problem is that he's kinda lumpy and lazy, and his wrestling matches uninspired. I, too, think the Brood could have been awesome. Could have been.

Jindrak? Who's Mark Jindrak?

I'd love to see Jimmy Yang and Shannon Moore in TNA, and we're guaranteed to see that in the future. Awesome, so long as they keep Yang out of the Elvis costumes.

I can't say I'm upset about these releases; they're either people I don't care to see, or people whose wrestling is astonishingly good, and thus they weren't allowed to work their potential in WWE. Take CM Punk for instance; I'm thrilled that he's getting a chance at "the big time," as anyone who works as hard as he does deserves such a chance, and (with any luck) the financial security it provides. At the same time, I've enjoyed watching his matches so much that it breaks my heart (well, insomuch as wrestling-related things can) to know that I'll never see him wrestle another 45-minute mat classic until he gets released. Good for him for now, but I look forward to seeing him again when he's released in a few.

myke.

releases are very upsetting for me...

sucks to see maven gone..i always thought he was good

shannon moore and akio sucks too but you knew it was coming

kidman really sucks. i really liked him always from wcw.

man and i loved gangrel. i had no idea he was under contract. i would of thought he would do good on smackdown

Spike? DAMN, that hurts, man. Even if his "Boss" character wasn't much fun, you couldn't help but always root for the dude.

What's really unfortunate? We all know that WWE has the name "Spike Dudley" locked up in an iron clad piece of legal documentation. So many people leave WWE just fucking neutered because they cannot use their characters elsewhere. WWE-grown talent (e.g., "Razor Ramon," "Diesel," or "Bastion Booger," I can understand). On the other hand, Spike Dudley was Spike Dudley (or, rather, Little Spike Dudley, the Giant Killer) for far too long to lose the rights to that character. THAT part sucks.

That TNA is now balls-deep in potential new talent is a promising sign (but why they never picked up Chuck Palumbo, Chris Kanyon, et al. is beyond me). Remember, the nWo was all talent popular b/c of the WWE. I wonder if TNA can point to this released talent and say "they will be ours" to get a better TV deal? I sure hope so, since Saturday night TV won't help them much, if at all.

As Guyver might say, doing his best Goldberg impression, "Who's Next?"

Me? In no particular order:

Hardcore Holly (see the school, read the writing on the walls)
Nunzio
Matt Morgan
Scotty 2 Hotty
Any Basham
Funaki
Sylvain Grenier
Kenzo Suzuki
Tyson Tomko
Val Venis

I wouldn't be surprised to see *every* one of these guys gone.
Not Spike!!!

I wonder what Bubba and D-von are thinking right now.
I wouldn't be suprised to see a protest or AWOL of the Dudleyz.

My picks on who I wouldn't be shocked if they got fired..

RAW:
Kenzo Suzuki
Conway
Dupree
Tyson Tomko
Val Venis
Viscera (His angle has run its course)

..why is Rock still on the WWE superstars page..

SmackDown:

Both Bashams
Dudley Boyz (only because of Spike's leaving)
Funaki
Sharmell.. and any of the other chicks from SmackDown

As long as they keep Stevie Richards and Super Crazy on SmackDown, i'm cool..

Oh man, what if Undertaker was released

//edit: And Gamefly dropped the use price of Wrestlemania 21 to $19.99

fuck man, now theres no more cruiserweights to have their match interupted by getting squashed on. Just when it seems like something goods going to happen, they go and ruin it all. When Mexicool came in, I thought FINALLY maybe we'll see some cruiserweight action happen and all the cruiserweights will turn face and team up with London against them. Now all the talented ones are gone and Scotty 2 Hotty remains there. This is bullshit, now for the rest of the year Paul London will fight a different member of Mexicool every week, lose the title, get 'injured', and come back to win it.

Damn! They got rid of Spike. He's a cool dude. I suppose there's no chance of him showing up on TNA? I mean, he's small and can take a beating... but does he have the skills to succeed in that quick-paced action environment?

I would have thought they would get rid of Venis and Holly already, but then who would job to the new talent on Heat/Velocity?
