damn with kidman and akio gone whos gonna wrestle on velocity?

damn and i used to like mordecai alot...i thought it was a great character and he was pretty good. i thought they would work on him and maybe he would come back one day.

i cant believe tomko survived this round of cuts. Anyways i hope stevie richards survives it as well.

also strange since jindrak just got traded??

Spike Dudley, Billy Kidman, and Maven were the surprise cuts for me as they were some of my favorite wrestlers, but with their minimal appearances lately it's not really a huge surprise. The others I'm not surprised with their cuts.

You know, after watching this Bikini Boot Camp segment.. Christy Hemme really works well as an announcer, much better than her wrestling.. no offense to her, but when she speaks on the mic, she has a firm voice, like she knows what she's talking about.. whereas everyone else seems like they have their lines force-fed to them or something.. She should be a commentator on Heat or something.

I think that she also does OK on the mic. She doesn't seem to mess up lines a lot like some others do.

Speaking of Jim Duggan, though... did any of you have the foam 2x4? My brother used to have it, and it eventually shrank into nothingness.

I have the foam 2X4. A friend gave it to me, along with all his VHS stuff, when he got out of wrestling. It's still in perfect condition. I also have WCW/Sting foam fingers. I'll take pictures of them tomorrow if i'm not busy being a bum.

I'm actually enjoying this diva search segment.. gah.

With Kidman cut, does this mean Torrie will be quitting? I remember reading something last year when they did the cuts(where most of the diva wrestlers get released) that Torrie basically protested that if Kidman was cut, she would quit.

HBK's heel turn on RAW last night sets up an anticipated "dream match" between himself and Hulk Hogan, a match that Michaels has been lobbying to get for a while now. If everything goes how it's expected by WWE, it's very possible we'll see something with Hogan and John Cena, as well as a possible huge money match at WrestleMania 22 with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. However, these are very early plans, and things can and usually do change a hundred times before then.

A Stone Cold/ HBK rematch? God, the one match I've been wanting a rematch to happen might come true.
Damn! They got rid of Spike. He's a cool dude. I suppose there's no chance of him showing up on TNA? I mean, he's small and can take a beating... but does he have the skills to succeed in that quick-paced action environment?

I would have thought they would get rid of Venis and Holly already, but then who would job to the new talent on Heat/Velocity?
I honestly don't think either show will survive the transition off of Spike TV this fall, but I can't prove it at all.

I could definitely live without Velocity/Heat. What I would really love is to have both RAW and SmackDown! be live. No spoilers, which means that more people are likely to watch. Plus, we could have SmackDown! chats in addition to RAW chats.

To be honest, both 'B' shows offered a good amount of classic style (i.e., they had clean finishes and were several minutes longer than the average SD/Raw match) wrestling matches. They will be missed; on the other hand, since most of the Heat/Velocity wrestlers just got shitcanned, what does it matter?
Ya, but you're in love with Christian Bale so you definition of attractive clearly varies from most :p Seriously though, there isn't one of them I wouldn't fuck if given the opportunity, regardless of if she'd melt if I dripped hot candle wax on her chest.
LOL

I was gonna add in the Rudy from Survivor line of "But not in that homosexual kind of way", but it wouldn't fit.

BWAHAHA!

Heenan: They need each other.
Monsoon: He's (HBK) not gonna walk away.
Heenan: They need each other!
(Post breakup)
Heenan: I knew he was gonna do that, he don't need Janetty! I told you that, off and on.
Monsoon: ARE YOU KIDDING!?!?!

Monsoon: DID YOU SEE THAT! RIGHT THROUGH THE GLASS WINDOW OF THE BARBERSHOP!
Heenan: Janetty tried to dive through the window to escape! What an act of cowardism!

*sniff* none better than those two.

Two more things of note:

I knew Hogan started off his WWF career as a heel, but I didn't know that (1) he was managed by Blassie, and (2) even *HE* started off with the fucking narcissist gimmick, using the name "The Fabulous" Hulk Hogan, and even wearing the cape (his mannerisms were the same, as he would tease removing his cape to show off his presumably impressive physique).

Nobody did that bit better than Rick Rude. He was the kind of motherfucker who would steal your girl and drink your beer. And he probably smelled nice, too. I guess I can understand why Vince keeps using that gimmick, since it pays off from time to time.

Ted DiBiase, on the other hand, looks like a douche without a beard.
As Guyver might say, doing his best Goldberg impression, "Who's Next?"

Me? In no particular order:

Hardcore Holly (see the school, read the writing on the walls)
Nunzio
Matt Morgan
Scotty 2 Hotty
Any Basham
Funaki
Sylvain Grenier
Kenzo Suzuki
Tyson Tomko
Val Venis

I wouldn't be surprised to see *every* one of these guys gone.
But there's something you don't know about me Joe Rogan, I smoke rocks!

and smoke them you must if you really think that WWE has any intentions of releasing Matt Morgan. Morgan was set to win TE2, but because he got hurt we got Jackie Gayda and Linda Miles (she sure lasted long). Trust me on this one, Morgan is too big and has too much a look that Vince salivates over to be released anytime soon.

And then Grenier isn't going anywhere either. In fact Grenier has the chance (at all of 21? years of age) to be around longer than anyone else on the active WWE roster. I just wish he'd hurry up and bring back FiFi, because he looks for all the world like the Masterpiece with a hot carl on his face right now.

As for the rest Nunzio is toast. Venis has been around awhile and seems to be serving as the new Brooklyn Brawler, but I wouldn't be stunned at all to see him go. Scotty is in the same boat, he's just too injury prone anyway to merit keeping him. Funaki is probably safe since he tends to be the guy they through in there to test out just about anyone, another Brooklyn Brawler type. I could easily see one of the Bashams vanishing as well. Did Tomko move over with Christian? If not he better start negotiating with Jeff Jarrett. Suzuki had better pray he gets put into a tag team with Tajiri soon, otherwise he too could be deported.

Finally, Hardcore Holly is probably safe at the moment. He may have opened a school, but that may be more a sign that he plans to leave himself/retire. I think Vince doesn't has the intentions to fire Holly anyway or he'd have done it already. Remember Hardcore Holly has been with the company longer than any other wrestler outside of The Undertaker, and is considered a bit of a "lockeroom leader" kind of makes you want to be on the SD active roster doesn't it?

I'll throw in a few more potential cuts, and say that most of the girls from last year's diva search that got jobs for God knows what reason will all be replaced by this year's batch. Watch it happen slowly but surely. The extra stupid one might stick around simply because she seems to have some sort of side angle going with Cena, but even that could be cut quickly.

DiBiase did look funny without that beard.

There's no denying Rick Rude pulled off that gimmick perfectly. I think I remember Rude best for his feud with the Warrior.

Luger did a good job as the Narcissist too. It was just so believable, probably because Luger was indeed obsessed with himself.
So I've been watching this today at work...

http://www.wwe.com/subscriptions/jukebox/july/

Totally worth $40/year. Watching the Shawn Michaels/Marty Janetty Barbershop segment right now, and perhaps Louie Spicolli/Juventud Guerrera next. Awesome!
Thanks for the link mykevermin. I will have to relay this to my boyfriend because he loves to watch old wrestling matches.

Keep in mind that the link only provides this month's matches, and you have access to all the other months all year long.

Too bad my department head keeps walking in (the office I work in houses the journal that he edits) and catching the wrestling on my laptop.

"Research?"

No, in fact Zbysko was part of one of the angles that pissed me off more than anything, that being the one in which he thought he could wrestle Scott Hall

I think I will subscripe just for the fact that they have a lot of old ECW and WCW matches that I haven't seen in a looong while or haven't seen at all but heard about. Shit, I can't believe it but the WWE might have actually did something right with this site and utilizing the history of the other companies as well.

This is like ordering a yearlong PPV that just keeps going and going with matches and costs about the same price of any recent PPV.

Hmm, interesting at least, WWE.com has "breaking news" that Brock Lesner will be meeting with WWE officials.

I've heard random bits about him looking for work in Japan, but that no compete clause of his is pretty tight.

Guess who's back...back again?

He sat in the crowd at a NJPW show with Sable. The legal problem stems from (1) that he was introduced by the announcers, which could make him "a part of the show," and (2) that he was possibly (and likely) paid for the travel, hotel, and appearance, in clear violation of his contract.

It's an interesting lawsuit. Lesnar's lawyers are arguing the enforcability of this contract, which prohibits Lesnar from doing anything remotely related to wrestling until 2012 or later. My limited understanding of the law has me thinking that such a strong contract is not enforcable (in the same sense that one can ideally sign a contract to live in lifelong servitude for another person for no pay would be unenforcable). I don't know if Lesnar's case is as extreme as indentured servitude, but it's still interesting.

Lesnar's clearly given up his lawsuit if he's returning; and, of course, he is. Is anybody surprised?

damn, poor matt morgan. he was somewhat entertaining.

and the dudleyz too?! that didn't come as a big surprise seeing as spike was released as well.

...sucks to be wwe talent

I thought they did the annual hose cleaning post-WM (which they did do, considering Rhyno, Hardy, and others I've already forgotten).

I can't figure out The Dudleys though. They are in the absolute best shape of their careers, and WWE has just handed TNA (assuming Matt Hardy uses his brain, and doesn't go back to WWE) a readymade Hardy Boyz/Dudleyz feud. While that may be an old feud, let's compare that to say...oh, I don't know...HBK/Hogan?

EDIT: I wonder if the Dudleys wanted too much money to come back, and WWE balked at paying them that much? As for Matt Morgan, it's fascinating that the writing staff hasn't changed much in years, and some poor bastard saddlebagged (no offense, ZL) with the gimmick of a fucking stutterer gets the boot? There truly is no justice in this world.

Dawn Marie!?!?!?!?!?

EDIT: Yep, Dudleyz gone.

WWE TALENT MASSACRE CONTINUES; BUBBA & D-VON DUDLEY GONE
By: Bob Ryder
7/6/2005 1:53:01 PM

In a move sure to infuriate ECW fans, WWE announced today they have "decided not to proceed with any renegotiations with Bubba and D-Von Dudley".

The departure of the Bubba & Devon brings the total number of talent releases to ten in the last two days. More releases are expected.

I called that one..

And an appropriate screen name we have, don't we deadpool? ;)

Did I put Haas or Janetty on my hitlist? Cuz I don't want to gloat about being right if I was only thinking it in my head, you know.

I don't care for patting oneself on the back, but since I do it so often myself, I won't harp on it. Good call; after seeing what fantastic shape they were in after ECW:ONS, I wouldn't have dreamed the Dudleys would get the boot.

Now the question is this: what in the world can they call themselves in TNA?

Depends on whether WWE trademarked Dudley Boyz, Dudleyz, Dudleys, or w/e. If they trademarked Dudley Boyz, they could use Dudley Boys, or even The Dudleyz.. or just their first names

how's about the ebony and ivory boyz? ;)

I think it's pretty fucked that they let go of both Haas AND Gayda, weeks after their wedding.. now both are unemployed, but Haas should make a good deal in NWA-TNA with Jackie as his manager.

I will say this, signing Brock Lesnar is the ONLY thing that could change my foul mood right now. I doubt Matt Hardy will fool with them now.

That's Vance for you...

Releasing all these people just for some Diva T and A.

Well Myke I was totally wrong, and owe you a huge apology. I thought there was no way Matt Morgan would be eliminated. I feel so stunned, and ashamed of my previous comments that I shall offer you a bit of a "prize" for being right while the horse was oh so wrong. PM me sir

Oh by the way... Kenzo Suzuki was just released too... so much for my Tajiri/Kenzo team.

Maybe this is the only way Vince can afford to bring back Lesnar, or perhaps he's eliminating every jobber with the intentions of reuniting the brands and moving the shows off of Spike? Or he just wants to cut costs before the move? Hard to say how Vince's mind works sometimes. Either way he's just given TNA the opportunity it needed to load up their roster and perhaps secure a tv deal.
