Enslaved is only good if you're into the heavily automated adventure games like it (Assasins Creed, PoP 2008). There is very little actual gameplay, and the combat is an absolute joke. Even on hard its a cakewalk.

The VA is good, but the dialogue is so bad that it doesn't really matter. Decent graphics and animation, but otherwise its a snoozefest.

You have terrible tastes and this "review" is basically all exaggeration.

Yup very exaggerated.

That said the game is almost without challenge. More of a game to experience rather than a game to "beat" or really explore deep gameplay mechanics with.

If you do not like games where the focus is story and atmosphere with limited exploration that are very linear you may not enjoy enslaved.

Enslaved may have a bunch of shortcomings - mainly the ending, it's brevity, linearity, lack of exciting gameplay, etc. - but for $15 you certainly get your money's worth. I bought it day 1 and have no regrets (well except the whole Amazon not accepting the trade-in issue , but even that had a happy ending).

Must be hard for Josh to put up offers 2 weeks before E3 when you don't know where the focus will turn.
 
Glad to hear there is a alice madness returns deal coming up. I will most likely use my $20 gaming coupon from LA Noire on that. That was my hope all along because this game looks pretty cool. Now I'm trying to decide if I should get Catherine now or wait and take the gamble on it getting cheaper.
 
So that card is going to stick around huh? Is it only for coupons, or would I be able to take advantage of 'buy something get another' offers without it?

Overdue localization? What on Earth are you talking about? The game doesn't come out till next month in Japan, and it comes out in August in the US. How is 2 months an overdue localization? It's by far the SHORTEST localization I've ever seen.

Amazon only had the $45 for about three days before bringing it back to 59.99; my guess is they were just matching TRU for a few days. It looks like the deal will be post release, so if you can't wait for the game TRU may be your place, but if you don't mind waiting a week or two, Kmart will likely have the best deal.

Hell, since we're all posting our credentials here to show each other how big our E-penis is I might as well jump in. I have a Bachelor's in psychology with a Education Specialist degree (that's higher than a Master's degree for those not in the know) in school psychology. So that means, all of you are safe from me analyzing...but your kids are not.

But to be on topic, I paid I think $40 for Enslaved on a whim from one of Josh's deals and I was absolutely pleasantly surprised. It was one of the better games I played last year. The story was fairly compelling and the characters were great (especially Piggy). The ending wasn't even that bad in my opinion. It was linear but I actually prefer linearity to sandbox. I think it's most similar in style to the Uncharted series so if you like that, I think you would enjoy Enslaved.

From a YMMV perspective, my KMart does not carry game guides. At least none that I've seen and I've stood in that electronics section browsing all over on multiple occasions. And my KMart seems to be one that gets a lot of the stuff that other stores don't. We carry PC games and get LE/CE stuff regularly.

I kinda figured that actually. I think the last game to come out for it in the US was one of the sports titles(Madden most likely).

I did not pay $40 for Enslaved, but I also thought it was one of the better games of last year and would love to see a sequel of some kind. The only thing that bothered me was how the camera suddenly spun around and around on you during combat, which could be a pain on hard. I'm ok with it being an eight hour linear game because that's about what I was expecting. Oh yeah, I have an English major with Secondary Education Minor and History minor since we're throwing out educations. :)

Meaning that I hope and feel that science will continue to push us forward where religion no longer can.

What we all want out of it regardless imo is a sense of comfort and fulfillment. If someone can find the comfort they need in a god then good for them. I can't find that comfort/fulfillment/satisfaction/whatever you want to call it in god.

For me the comfort comes from science. I put my faith in the knowledge it brings and in the never ending pursuit of it. I see beauty in everything around me and still feel an absolute sense of awe every time I look at a night sky. It is fascinating to me and comfortable to believe that through science each day pushes us closer to the ultimate truth, whatever that may be.
