I panicked when I saw my name on that. Should have known better though
You of all people should know a trap when you see one.
Wow ... I'm shocked that bigdaddy is currently under investigation for selling stolen goods, according to the main page ... who would have thought
I didn't kill my neighbor she just happened to "fall down" on her own.

Oh... we aren't talking about that.... my bad.... ummm... no comment....

hmm we're getting off topic here :p

Guys, go pick up your TRU coupons good for 11-28 I think... two weeks full. 5 off 25 one for each week.

I think that'll buy me some PoP sets... I think I have everything else.
I wasn't going to, but now I think I'm going to pick up a couple of Ambush in Cairos from my local Kmart's B1G1, if they are still available.

It would match well with the PoP sets.
Go for it. I know I would. You get 4 minifigs plus some nice elements like the weapons, apples, baskets, dish and barrel.

As far as parts missing in a new set. I've never had that problem. I've always had extra parts.

Visited Lego Store yesterday to pick up my Max minifig. They still had The SW CW AAT on sale for 50% off, but put the Attack Shuttle back to regular price. Wind Turbine was also still on sale for 30% off and select magnet sets are still $7.98. I ended up getting an AAT seeing as how the Attack Shuttle was no longer discounted and I needed a decent Separatist vehicle to counter the Clone ones.

They are going to charge me $3.28 for the 7 or 8 pieces missing from my MMV. Damn. I should probably just do PAB or some shit to replace them. :/

?

I thought missing pieces fell under the "we screwed up, ships free".

Both of mine were, but it was just 1 piece....

maybe shipping to HI they charge? that sucks.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's my location, but I wouldn't be surprised. I guess I could call and complain. Honestly, this is the only time I've encountered missing pieces, but of course it had to be set with the most pieces I've purchased so far. >_

I have had missing pieces so many times I started to think that LEGO thought I was ripping them off. I missed a whole bag from a Batman set, like 80-90 pieces and they shipped them out for free. I even lost a piece myself, told them that I lost the piece and they shipped it out for free.

Plus most of the time, when they say you owe money, they tell you it with the pieces already set out and you just can ignore it, but never in the 10ish times I have asked for pieces have they made be pay a dime.

Anyone else get the VIP e-mail newsletter from LEGO ... looks like all the board game sets are double points this month when you buy the via S@H or the B&M LEGO stores.

Speaking of the new board game sets, any opinions? The only one that really stands out to me is the Creationary, which I still haven't seen in the local LEGO store yet. Anyone pick up any of the others and have some recommendations on which are worth it?

Yes, I rec'd that newsletter as well. Creationary seems to be the best one. I've read that Minotaurus and Monster 4 are also pretty good, with the rest not seeming to hold interest as long. Personally, I'd like to see the games in person before I'd even consider buying them, so some sort of Lego In-Store Demo would be in order.

I only have Minotaurus, which is good because my 7-year-old daughter is really into mythology. The game is cleverly done and built for customization. I would recommend it for kids who like board games. Seems like with video games these days the board games don't hold the kids' attention for quite as long.

You don't get points for buying from S@H... although they say they will in the future.

We got the monster one last week. It's like tic-tac-toe. Kids and I like it...it's simple and the games go pretty quick.

I don't think Creationary would work too well unless you have some older kids who are really into Legos...my son would just make cars and space ships no matter what the game tells him to build.

Also got the PM Rock Wrecker on clearance for $8.48 at Target.

TRU finally put the PoP sets out... I guess they really were waiting for April 1st which is kinda weird. Picked up Fight for the Dagger and Ostrich Races ...this was at 3:00, and they still had several of all the PoP sets...went back again at 7:00 as I decided to pick up Desert Attack, and all the sets were gone except for, luckily, Desert Attack...which I picked up the last two on the shelf.

The movie may still fail, but I think the theme is pretty solid ... almost a spiritual successor to Indiana Jones ... can't wait to try some MOCs with the new sets I get. I always feel really weird about mixing the pieces from different sets though ... I think I need to get over that if I want to actually build something cool.

I have the same issues when it comes to that. On one side, I want to keep them separate, in sets, so that they're easily accessible whenever I want to get to them. But on the other side, I want to mix them in with the rest of my lego's (goodwill, yard sale, craigslist, siblings collections) so that I can do the same. Though, I've been using Peeron to catalog my collection so that I can easily mix it all together without feeling lost.

Jesus christ, I need a new place to live so I can put all this shit in ONE room.

Edit: Also, went to KMart last night to pick up 3 of the 10.99 POP sets (yay b2g1!). Had to get them to get it out of the back, and then, when it rang up, it didn't ring at the B2G1 price. Luckily, the manager that I asked to get the kits was right at the register, so she was able to override it, though she had to look at the ad first... silly manager, you should familiarize yourself with the good sales of brand name products... but I guess that's asking too much.

Anyways, I was also in a few days ago and bought 2 of the Pirate Building sets (150 piece) and one of the castle building sets (137 piece) for the B2G1 price at $8 a piece (I missed them at the clearance sale.... never were marked with the clearance stickers). Had to get the manager to approve that one too, mentioned that the ad doesn't specify regularly priced items, so they were pretty much forced to sell them to me for $16 + tax.

Co-sign!

I think this is my favorite theme right now and from seeing what LEGO has set for this year, I think Pop just might be my favorite for the year. I love the colors, the minifigs and their accessories!

Eric: Saw that you're registered for BBTB. Are you planning to go to the store sale at night? Do you plan to go the whole weekend?

Nevermind, googled it :)

Yeah, I think I'll be going for most of the weekend, maybe Friday & Saturday (might skip the crowded public day ;) ). Really looking forward to seeing the keynote from LEGO's executive VP of Products & Marketing. I'm debating which LEGO store I should go to though, I feel like most folks will be hitting up the Santa Clara one since it's closer to the convention but I recall that the San Mateo store will be having the promo too if I'm not mistaken, so I wonder if the pickings will be better at the San Mateo store? -edit- actually, looks like the damaged box thing is only at VF but the discount the entire weekend works at both LEGO stores.

Anyone on here in Nor Cal (or with access to a plane ;) ) should check out the Bricks by the Bay convention next weekend (April 9th-11th). I'm kind of hoping LEGO throws some of those white prototype boba fett figures into the bags for attendees (since I read they were supposedly produced as promotional items for hardcore LEGO fans ... and what better place to give them out than a LEGO convention) ... what do you think Jay, will we get lucky with cool LEGO freebies?

I think there are more BayLUG members closer to San Mateo so hopefully the masses will head to that store rather than VF because that's where I'll be. I talked to Bill Ward and he said that names will be picked randomly on who gets to purchase the damaged boxes first. Seems fair.

I've been on the email list that's been showing all the communication about BBTB and so far there hasn't been any clue on what will be in the goodie bags aside from the new 2x2 tiles and Brick Journal. Considering this is the first LEGO Convention for Norcal and that that the VP of LEGO will be speaking, there should be some nice LEGO goodies.

Wait... I just realized. The organizers are looking for volunteers this weekend to put the goodie bags together. If you're interested, I can PM you the info.

Rats. If the economy wasn't so shitty, I would've taken the family to LA to visit the relatives around this time. Any similar type of events to bbtb during Thanksgiving time?

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lego PoP theme exceed the film itself, although the film might do well enough to garner a sequel. I kind of hope it does get a sequel so Lego can keep going with more sets. :p

On vacation and the local Kmart has the City Corner in stock for $59.99 with B2G1, but I just can't bring myself to spend that much on it, and there aren't really a lot of other similarly priced sets to get with it. Oh well.

Breaking news, lego fans, Fred Meyer has all star wars lego 20% off and today only they have a 25%off coupon on all lego (excluding clearance), making it a total discount of 40% for star wars lego. I picked up 14 Clone walker battle packs at $6.59 each. I grabbed a bunch of other things (Yay! tax return!) but I won't brag too much.

I hope that takes the heat off of me for buying the 4 green grocers.

The one Saturday I don't work too (I work across the street from a FM). Somehow I missed this. Could run out to try to get in on this, but the last I checked they didn't really have any of the SW sets I wanted anyway. Now if they still had the Battle for Endor, I'd be heading out right now.

I see that GG is on backorder at lego.com. Doesn't that mean it'll stay around for a bit longer?? I wonder if TRU and everywhere else will get re-stocked....or hoping that gunm was right, and it stays til Xmas....

Is anyone going to bricks by the bay this weekend? First Lego con for CA I think. I was excited but now idk that I am. I've got no money and I'm not sure how much fun a con like this would be without cash.

Yep, I'll be checking it out this weekend ... I'm kinda low on cash too, have a bit of credit set aside for the LEGO store event on Friday but hoping there is some sweet LEGO schwag and stuff that comes with the deluxe pass that I picked up a couple months ago.

Guess we'll see how it goes, I'm wondering if there's really going to be all that much to buy at BbtB, since it seems to be a lot of people displaying mocs and not many vendors. Either way, I'm in it mostly for the keynote and sit down with one of LEGO's VPs ... sounds pretty interesting imo.

I'll be there for the whole weekend and I'm ready to spend at the special shopping event at the LEGO store. Hopefully, there will be some cool sets available like the GG or maybe Cafe Corner? That would be sweet!

Aside from BrickArms/BrickMania, I'm not excited about the vendors. Hopefully, this event does well so next year there will be an attraction for the major players to sell in the vendor area like Brick Forge.

And just like etcrane said, it will be cool to hear from a LEGO executive.

At the convention we went to this past year, the dealer room was the smallest. I gave my wallet to my wife as insurance. I'd say the easiest way to blow your money is the minifigs. Didn't find any vendors selling old sets which is what I would have been looking for. We did find one vendor that had a ton of interesting pieces (like the fruits, bugs, foods, etc.) for very reasonable prices and kids got everything they wanted for maybe $10.

I was just looking at the Bionicle instructions that my son got for Easter (8992), and it was the first time in a while I had noticed the AC Nielsen survey on the back of the cover.

It says 'win lego products'...2 questions:
1) Does everyone usually fill this out?
2) Has anyone heard of anyone winning something?

I filled out that survey two, or maybe three, times now. Once it was emailed to me, and once, or twice, I filled it out as it was on the back of the instructions.

Needless to say, I didn't win anything nor was I notified of who the winners were or what prizes were given away. I'd like to think that Lego isn't trying to scam people into giving them opinions, but it's hard not to feel like it.

By the way, you are likely to have that survey pop up while browsing the Lego site. Of course it's not all just one survey, but quite a bit of the questions are the same. Some of them are simply specific to the set you have purchased.

1) I'm sure a good number of people do fill those out. I've done them recently.

2) I have not heard confirmation from any winners. Does that mean there aren't any winners? Your guess is as good as mine.

Edit: Looks like Lego is now "making things right" by sending out my MMV missing parts request for free. Thank goodness, 'cause that was a ridiculous charge for just a few (albeit critical) bricks. :p

I try to fill them out, I usually do 3-4 sets in a row instead of when I get a set. I have never won, I have never heard anyone of winning, I think it's a sham.

Ooo, thanks. Maybe the PoP sets will come in this week at my local stores (they didn't have any last week).

Edit: Looks like MMV is currently in stock and available for the S@H price of $99.99 w/FSSS @Amazon.com. Grab it now before they go OOS and the only options are those jacked up third party sellers.

There are a number of sets from different themes at a small discount over MSRP at Amazon, too, if anyone has credit there or needs to find a filler item like King's Battle Chariot for $15.54 as an example...

Rats, wish I had seen it earlier, I could've saved a few more bucks going w/Amazon. :p
New Borders coupon guys ... buy 1 get 50% off ... not bad considering this will apply to all the Toy Story and Star Wars sets that TRU excluded ... happy hunting.

Thanks for the post. However it should be pointed out (for those that haven't done the mental math) that this is at best 25% off each item. On the plus side, it can be used on more than one item (up to 5 discounted items, so 10 total items purchased). Personally I will wait for 30% or more (shouldn't be more than a few days), but this could be useful to those looking to buy multiple items now.

I always feel out their surveys or any other retail survey for that matter. It's an opportunity to give you input about things. I just did one recently for the LEGO store since it was on my receipt and a couple days later I received an email from the store manager thanking me for taking the time to fill it out and if I had any additional concerns to contact him. Good to know they read them.

I'd wait for the coupon too, especially since my sales tax is 9.25%. That extra 5% helps.

On a side note: Since I used to work at a local university, I take advantage of Border's Educator Week that allows educators 30% off every item you buy. Educator week is supposed to be solely for teachers, but I just show my staff badge and they give me the discount anyway. :D

Yeah, with as many star wars sets as I just bought, I'll wait for another 30-40% off deal.

That, and my wife would probably kill me if I went out and bought more lego kits, considering how many I JUST bought.

Lego.com added the single drum roller...reg 29.99 now 14.98. Added 2 other items, but nothing I saw interested me.

On another note....do people in Europe come across good deals on Lego too?? Or are we in the US lucky?

Thanks for the heads up on Single Drum Roller. I wish there was a valid $5 off $20 because shipping makes it a non-deal for me. >_<

Maybe it will be on sale in store...

Gunm, I found a coupon below....but wonder if that set is still in stock now....Edit...still in stock. They also added adult watches too.

$5 off $20 coupon can be use to offset the shipping cost if you buy more than $20
