LEGO Deals

Walmart has the Echo Base set for $19.54, though you'll have to pay tax (shipping charges can be avoided with in-store pickup). Alternatively, Amazon has matched it (no tax in some states, free shipping if you pad order to $25 or have PRIME). Ordered one last night. Probably one of the best SW LEGO sets in recent memory. LEGO tauntaun!
Lego.com added the single drum roller...reg 29.99 now 14.98. Added 2 other items, but nothing I saw interested me.

On another note....do people in Europe come across good deals on Lego too?? Or are we in the US lucky?
Nice. Fortunately, my LEGO store will match that sale if it isn't already. And if they don't have it in-store, they can always order it and have it shipped for free. Gotta love have a LEGO store near by!

Called S@H this morning, they had set 7898 on sale for $69

Had to add that to my purchase.

Plus, I picked up one of the last Indy kits I need for my collection :D

No tax for some. Amazon charges tax in New York, perhaps other states as well.

How do they give phone deals for sets they no longer have on their site?

Yeah, that's odd...when I called they did not mention that set at all--are you in a different country or something?

Thanks for the coupon code cutiepatootie! Was looking for another $5 off $20. I don't really have anything to match w/Steam Roller to make the order qualify, so if anything, I'll look for it in store. Not sure I really want the Steam Roller though...
Whats the retail on these supposed to be?
I think this is the first time we've seen an official price from a U.S. retailer. But I'd imagine them to be a higher price at Toys R Us, which is likely one of the only places you'll find them in store.
Yeah, that's odd...when I called they did not mention that set at all--are you in a different country or something?
I'm near Seattle. I call directly when they open though, which is why they may not be mentioning it to you (if it sells out, they stop even telling people about it).

From what I understand, these items that show up on the Wednesday S@H specials is that they go through and do inventory, and anything that was missed on a previous check (fell behind a pallet, under a rack) ends up on the list.

I thought whatever ended up on the recording was what was on sale. Did not know that the live reps had other specials that aren't on the recording.

Cool thanks. I almost stayed up long enough to call in (8am EST is 2am HST :p), but I ended up falling asleep. >_<

My understanding is that if you call into the 1-800-835-4386 direct line during their business hours, you should get a rep who knows what the specials are and can order it for you.

Calling after hours you'll end up with a third party CSR who won't have access to any special deals.

I dunno if I would've gotten the Cargo Train, but $69 is really hard to pass up for an OOP set like that.
So this is just something all live reps are ready to answer on Wednesday mornings when they open? What deals there are?
Yes. When you call, (if you manage to get through right away) you should ask them what their Wednesday phone in specials are. They'll list off a bunch of stuff, and if they're out of something, they usually won't mention it, because it's not something they can offer.

Usually numbers are fairly low (5-20) so you gotta be on it quick.

Yeah, 800-865-4386 is the proper number to call, if you call after hours then get you over to 800-453-4652 (and they're completely useless) and no, the other call center doesn't have access to the deals.

I actually almost didn't buy the cargo train, but at the end of my call, I changed my mind. I couldn't pass that up for that price.

Whether I keep it or not, that's a different story...

I'm kind of confused. Was this a one-day-only special, or is it a recurring sale?

I mean the Wednesday phone special, not the $69 train set.

The Wednesday phone special is recurring. Starting at 8am EST, the Direct Sales line will put up a recording of the week's deals. I didn't realize, but apparently if you talk to a live rep, you might be able to get additional deals that aren't on the recording.
Entertainment Earth has pre-orders up for the blind Lego minifigs. Only $20 for 10 packs. Pretty reasonable price.

http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=LG8683AAA
Right on. I have a wholesale account with them. According to the wholesale page the price for one case is $196.20 with 120 pieces. That comes out to $1.64. I'll have to call my account rep to figure out the shipping cost, but I'm putting in my preorder and buying a case or two. Anyone interested. PM me.

Nice. Wish I could get in on that with you.

Without the wholesale account, the case price at Entertainment Earth is $240 + shipping. For me it worked out to $2.21 per bag. :p That's probably still a good deal though, considering sales tax and what my local retail store will likely charge for it. Any Hawaii Lego Fans want to get in on a case with me? :)

How much is in a case??? 1.64 could be cheap enough to do it. ship the "set" for $5.

My wife and I talked about the minifig collection and how we plan on acquiring it.

She wants to do it the old fashioned way, and just buy a few bags at a time.

I hope we get the whole collection that way :whistle2:/

A case is supposedly 120 pieces/bags.

I might just bite the bullet and go for a whole case just for me, but I really don't want to do that.

There are two 30% off Border coupons this weekend. Not sure if you can only a coupon once per account, so if you can well now you can get two sets.

You can use their coupons multiple times, just not in one transaction...or one visit if the clerk wants to be a prick about it.

You guys should save that money for therapy for your OCD. $200 for minifigs??? How is this a deal?

This. I hope we can find some!;)

I might get 1 or 2 of the minifig packs and hope for something useful. I just don't really understand what people do with 50-100 of them... I guess I've never thought of Lego as a collecting thing.

So, have any of you guys attempted stuffing a pick a brick cup at the lego store?

I stuffed one last night, and haven't had a chance to count how many yet, but it sure looks impressive. I'll provide pics in the next few days :)

It's a deal because of the individual price especially when you consider how much driving people will be doing to go find these and the time taken. I'm not into the whole 'treasure hunt' thing with these as I did all that when I used to collect action figures and hot wheels.

And... I already have a handful of people who are willing to go in on my purchase and even if I didn't, I'm not worried about getting rid of these. It's not like I'm broke or maxing out my credit card to buy these and I have plenty of outlets to choose from to easily get my money back. :D

Different strokes for different folks. Some people js]ust collect them just because. Some people actually use their minifigs for their MOCs - some have displays as big as a room while most are book shelf size. Some resell. Then there are those who do a bit of everything. I have a 4-year old who likes the minifigs over any other toy I've bought him and I noticed that when he was around 2. He's lost a good amount or given some to his friends/cousins, but having a bunch of them makes it easy for me to replace them.

On a side note: It's cool to find LEGOs or other items we like on sale, but if you're carrying over a credit card balance then that interest catches up and doesn't make your deal all the great.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the explanation. I live in a child-free world so I forget about their existence.

Agreed. Hopefully no one here is carrying a balance as a result of high-priced luxury items like Lego, video games, etc. Personally I have always considered carrying over even a dollar of debt (excluding federal student loans) to be a sign that I am living outside my means.

Spending $200 to save $.30 for each of 16 minifigs and selling the rest isn't a deal, it's just a pain in the a$$.

When did this become the "Fix Your Credit" thread? Credit is defined as your ability to borrow money AND pay it back. No balance = no credit. Not paying towards your balances = bad credit. And in the eyes of all lenders no credit = bad credit since they have no way to judge your ability to pay back a debt.

STAY ON TOPIC ! ! !

gesh, this isn't the VS. forums.

Any sales on the next two weeks for TRU? 5 off 25 coupons to spend.. hmm?

He ends up saving $36 when he buys 120, and if no one here is interested then I'm sure he could easily sell whatever he has left over in batches of 16 on eBay for $32 per batch if not more.

With that said, I'm sort of interested in the mini-figures, but on the other hand I fear that I'll end up drawing all the crappier ones.

I plan on taking the bags home before I open them to weigh them.

Maybe if we're lucky they'll have different weights. I'll keep you guys informed of my findings when they're finally released.

well how far does your scale go?

I plan on weighing with a micro scale that measures to the .001 ounce.

I really don't think the items inside are going to differ by much.

I'll post my findings for double accuracy! :bouncy:

I skimmed through the last weeks worth of posts and did not see any of these deals posted but if they have alreday been then please ignore me.

I was at Toys R Us and they had a couple Lego specials going on.

Gift Assortments for $5.99 after discount include Fire Station (#6191 - 117 piece), Pirate Ship (#6192 - 150 pieces), Castle (#6193 - 137 pieces) and House (#5899 - 134 pieces).

Keep it civilized guys. If you're using this thread to buy Lego for yourself, you should be the last person to question what other people in the thread do. I shouldn't have to remind anyone here that what you do with your money is your own business.

I've got a kitchen scale that goes down to grams :D

edit: before you get any thoughts into your head... I purchased it at the beginning of last year to see if I could score myself a chrome Darth Vader... never found one :( (but it was verified that the boxes WITH the Vader weighed a few grams higher)

Usually, this thread is the place to be, but sales this week have been pretty slim. I would've posted my Sunday paper findings last week, but except for 6161 for free with $40 purchase at TRU, I didn't spot anything.

The last time they had that sale was a few weeks ago, and if memory serves, nobody was too thrilled about it. So I decided not to mention it.

Though, the deals with the brick assortments (6191, 6192, 6193, 5899) weren't in the paper ad.

Does anyone else have the time to verify these deals? I have to head straight home and get to bed so I can get some rest before going to my second job tonight. (Not that we don't trust you, but a good amount of deals are YMMV. Most of us had B2G1 at Kmart last week, while a select few had B1G1)

By the way, does anyone know if any retailers are expecting to receive the newer Lego exclusives?

I've been waiting for Target or TRU to stock the Imperial Flagship since January, but so far only a handful of online "businesses" are selling it at a +$40 markup.

Anyone at Bricks by the Bay tonight? I'm currently chillin in the parking lot reading Game Informer cuz I got kinda bored (shhh, don't tell anyone). Don't get me wrong, the MOCs are amazing and I got to see the new Toy Story 3 sets built ( they look great) ... just ... Kinda small as far as convetions go (shouldn't have gone to wondercon last weekend, it spoiled me ;) ) and was kinda hoping for more freebies with the deluxe package (oh LEGO ... why have you forsaken me with your white boba fett minifigure).

I'll post more through the weekend in case anyone cares or I hear anything interesting.

I'm on my way there now. Got a late start and will be there around 8 I think. Worried I might be bored too. Not sure 3 day deluxe pass was worth it... we shall see.

Just a heads up, 8 is when they're giving the Lego store instructions, so you'll probably just want to grab your badge and entry ticket to the Lego store event (some sort of group thing, not sure how the system is ordered) and then it's back over to SJ and valley fair.

Ps. *whisper* 3rd party Lego vendors are over priced ;-) (so for anyone buying a box of the new minifigure set, you can sell them for $10 to $15 each and fit right in) ;)
I've got a kitchen scale that goes down to grams :D
:dunce: I meant grams.

It's a AMW-1KG. I guess it measures to .1 grams, which I think is tiny enough.

I measured some figures with 'extra' pieces and I was able to tell them apart by the weight....

I guess we'll see in June.

Anyone see PoP sets at their local Borders yet? I went this evening, and mine doesn't appear to have gotten them in yet.

Also, Venator is $113.25 on Amazon at the moment.
My Borders still has several of the 2009 Advent Calendar sets.
My little 3year old girl loved opening that set each day! We will be getting an Advent set each year for now on.

Quick question, was the buy one get one half off at TRU a good deal last week. I know Target will clearance them out sometimes but other than that I don't see too many deals on legos. I don't have a Borders or Kmart so that is a no go.

Lego store event was awesome! EVERYONE got to go in to get Hal off sets, something I didn't expect. Although the first time through was supposed to be 1 set, then a second time for 1 set, then free for all... well when waiting for the second time, they changed to free for all but still limited entry... needless to say everything was hoarded by then.

However, wife and I got fire brigade for 75 and carousel for 125. Pretty amazing. Earlier entrants got death star and the falcon... very jealous.
