Lois Lane Smallville Topic (Season 8 DVD/Blu 8/25, Season 9 Premiere Friday 9/25)
Why does Doomsday look human to begin with? That was a bad choice IMO.
Having 'Doomsday' appear at all was a bad choice.
I started telling myself that during the Witch arc. :cold:
What ancient witches hunting alien crystals in modern times doesn't make sense? ;)

they need to just stick to the basics and quit all the lana/clark/chloe bullshit alltogether. since im sure it will end with him fully becoming superman just focus on him training around the world and metting up with diff heros from the dc universe. they especially need to have him meet up with bruce wayne whether pre batman or post i dunno but itd be cool to have them meet up. and show lex slipping into his role as the completly evil lex luthor.

most of this series has been bogged down by them tossing around super powers loosely and too many dumbass love triangles , squares and hexagons.itd be cool to hear more from his mom too youd think shed stop in to check in on him once in a while.

they should try and find a way to retinroduce zod somehowbecause they fumbled the ball on him bigtime. "kneel before zod" classic shit.

They can't use Wayne due to licensing or something I can't remember. I do agree the love element needs to take a huge backseat to his destiny and Clark around the world wouldn't be a bad storyline. He did run to Honduras in about what, 5 minutes? As for Lex, his actor left the show and as far as i'm concerned he already was completely evil by the end of season 7. Agree about Martha Kent as well, I understand she left the show or got fired (not sure which) but you would think she would stop by to see what her alien son is up to every blue moon, like Lana Martha got a really lame send off considering how long she was around.
Why does Doomsday look human to begin with? That was a bad choice IMO.
Yeah I never got too into this show but then I heard doomsday was going to be on and immediately told myself to begin watching and then I found out doomsday was a human sam witwer and it totally ruined it.

So I was looking through this thread and noticed that someone mentioned Perry White. He was introduced when Pete was still around, so I doubt they will use that to get Clark into the Daily Planet. I think Lois or Jimmy will somehow get Clark to work there before the mid point of the season.

With all of that said, I look forward to watching the premiere later this evening. Can't go wrong with a Justice League episode (why haven't they made them a series already or atleast a Green Arrow spinoff)

Crud. Got playing Smash Bros. with a friend, and forgot to see if CW was coming in!

Guess I missed it anyway. Gonna have to watch it later tonight, if I can find it.
I can't believe they're finally getting into more of the classic mythos, but now Lex is gone. Wtf.....
In some ways I think it might work better like that, there has to be more crime going on then just what has been shown unless every single crime in the world revolves around Lex or those he has dealt with. I wasn't too thrilled with the premiere but it did have some good points to balance out the lows.

His greatest foe, but nowhere near his only . I want to see more villains before the end , doesn't even have to be the ridiculously powerful ones a regular peon making a ten minute cameo would do. And for the love of God get rid of Aquaman
Having 'Doomsday' appear at all was a bad choice.
The fact this show is still on the air is a bad choice.

That was painful to watch. I love Superman and have been a fan of Smallville from the start but with every episode seems to get worse and worse. Seriously, where do they get the actors for this show?

I'm starting to wonder the same thing, seems like they go out of the way to find people who can't act. Every scene with the justice league outside of Green Arrow was pretty painful. New ceo of Luthorcorp came off as wooden.

Sounds like I'll be watching another disappointing episode in the next few minutes. I think this mythos could have been cool with Lex and Clark as friends, but oh well.

Agree 100 percent. Unfortunately, human Doomsday is probably the worst possible replacement.

With regards to the acting: What did you expect from the CW? This is a network that screams at you every chance they get, "Look how good-looking our actors are!" Acting ability obviously isn't a priority with them. At least the core cast is solid (anybody in the credits).

The CW station in my area is rerunning it Sunday afternoon. I'd imagine your CW might do the same. Check your listings.

No one is expecting this show, or anything on CW for that matter, to have high quality acting but we are talking day time soap opera rejects here. That is really why I was dissapointed to see Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) leave the show. He was really the only member of the cast that consistantly put some effort into his role.

But acting aside, Smallville has always been a cheesy show but I am the only one that finds it almost overwhelming at this point. Last season had so much cheese it should have been sponsored by Kraft and this first episode was certainly not an improvement.

Whoops! Spoke too soon. Looks like the opening credits had a whole bunch of new faces. Some of whom I disparaged. Anyway, not a bad episode. It was saved by the ending. Otherwise the pacing and the understanding of superpowers would have bothered me.

Still...
it's about fucking time Clark actually becomes a journalist, even though he has had no prior experience or foreshadowing to it in the series

WHAT? That was one of my favorite episodes ever in the series.

That part had me cracking up
How the fuck did Clark, with no job experience at all outside of a half a day at a coffee shop where he was fired land a reporter job at a major newspaper?! Hell when did he even find time to go to an interview last season. He got an application is supposed to make all of this make sense lol

I also found that a bit odd.

But at this point, nothing in Smallville surprises me. :whistle2:#

They did so some foreshadowing in the first couple seasons when he was working for the high school paper, the Torch. If they really wanted to use the established continuity they could have said that Perry White did him a favor to get him the job. In general all the scenes after the Jackie Giles brought Clark back to life went way too fast after a slow paced/drawn out episode.

Chloe's new powers lead me to believe when Brainiac did something to her that she gained them, explaining why she lost the healing. Tess having the Fortress crystal makes me cringe that they might do whole bunch of "Who has the crystal?!" episodes after they already based a season off of it. Hopefully the Fortress is back halfway through the season. I really like that Lois has darker hair now, boner alert!

Overall the first episode by the new show runners came off decent and I'm looking forward to a season full of fan service (and campy-ness).

Remember the episode of Superman: The Animated Series where Clark Kent uses his investigative skills to free an innocent man from capital punishment? That was awesome.

I will do just that. Thanks.

Was it established that she lost them? I just thought her powers weren't working because he wasn't really human.

I thought the same thing

What a terrible episode, not that I didn't expect it. So this is the last season then? I kinda want to watch it just to see the end, but jesus it has been getting steadily more painful to watch for the past two or three seasons.

Whats his name the paramedic , as for the episode itself I felt nothing watching it. Wasn't disgusted by it but wasn't excited either.

Jesus crispy Christ, does kryptonite just casually fall from the sky, or what? At this point, I've come to accept it, but it's still absurd. I liked the phone booth scene. Hopefully, we see less plaid now that he's an employee of the Daily Planet.
Whats his name the paramedic , as for the episode itself I felt nothing watching it. Wasn't disgusted by it but wasn't excited either.
The paramedics name is Davis Bloom. Here's a pretty big spoiler if you don't follow Smallville news and want to know:
he's Doomsday, and was originally supposed to be an emo bartender. I'm just glad we didn't get tied to another bar.
.
Anybody catch the episode tonight? Who was that guy on the ground right at the end? Couldn't recognize him.
The guy on the ground at the end was the paramedic, Davis Bloom.

Oh I already knew who he is going to be but eh human
Doomsday
is still a terrible idea to me. The only way I see this working is if
Doomsday kills Chloe, not fake kill, no disappearance but full blown pieces everywhere dead
I only give the episode credit for alluding to an
Injustice Gang

Yeah i caught the Legion of Doom type reference myself. So if doomsday is human, how do they explain him having powers? Another meteor freak?
Was it established that she lost them? I just thought her powers weren't working because he wasn't really human.
Well this episode confirms she has lost the healing, she said she used to be able to heal or something like that.

Plastique is a pedophile's dream. She was a hottie. I bet we'll see the return of her and a few others take on Clark to lead into the announced
Legion episode. They'll probably come to help him when he's overwhelmed by the 33.1 Team / Injustice Gang

Injustice Gang, aye? Hmm, I would dig Doctor Light and/or Mirror Master---and yes, I know we're talking about Smallville versions. I think it could work as long as they don't give them the Smallville Black Canary treatment.
shiit i missed it tonight. I really need to catch up on this show, I missed half of season 7
Trust me you didn't miss anything good

Wow 4 words that would have made the whole Clark at the planet plausible, "you sould thank Perry" but no we can't have that. And I think that's what makes me so mad about this show that you see parts where about 3 mins of thought would had made a more coherent series.

And can't they write one fucking episode without a meator freak, can't they save some freaking money SFX and do a character driven story. They couldn't even have Pete come back he had to have a power that he used once and Lex even wanted him for a whole different reason.

I think this show went down hill when Christpher Reeve died, I think they had alot more to do with him helping Clark.

I love this show for some reason but here's to next Thursday turning a coner.

#1 I like tess, she is started to remind me of lex, only difference TEX Is hot.......
#2 Doomsday is not a bad choice, he will turn soon and a massive fight scene will happen with clark and him wooooooo

Oh and don't forget new episode next week :)

EDI: Next week episode will drop in ratings, i am pretty sure on it. Green arrow is cool, but his background, um who cares. I will watch of course. But on the bright side, the whole episode will not focus on green arrow which is a plus.

Well to be fair here Pete was a throw back to the ridiculous early days when damn near anything gave someone a power, I remember the kryptonite milkshake fondly  Personally I feel the show never really went down or up in quality until season 6, where it suddenly became a much better show. Season 3's cave episodes were threatening to derail the entire thing for me but I still stuck with it. Season 7 though, man what a trainwreck that was, as fair as i'm concerned the show jumped the shark during that season, so Clark getting a job at a major newspaper with no real experience makes perfect sense in this new bizarro world.

A friend and I were discussing something similar about the lack of character driven episodes , just about every meteor freak outside the main crew were straight up evil, hardcore irredeemable evil. Show needed just a few every so often that Clark could just mess around with, have a coke, go blow some stuff up in the middle of nowhere just for kicks. the closest the show came was when Clark got a girlfriend who could teleport, I remember that two parter far more then the few dozen that came before it because it was different.

I still think they should have just called Tess What-ever-her-surname-may-be by the name of who she really is, Mercy Graves.

The name "Tess" makes me think of Nikola Tesla. I know that's just me, but... yep.

I wouldn't expect anyone special coming for the Smallville version of an Injustice Gang, it'll likely see the return of former freak of the week characters. I even have my doubts on Plastique coming back. I would crack up if the foreign "Mikhail" Mxyzptlk from season 4 came back.

"She is a nod to both Ms. Teschmacher [Valerie Perrine, from Superman: The Movie] with Tess, and then her last name, Mercer, is a nod to Mercy from the comic books,"
I bet if she was an actual character they probably couldn't have as much creative freedom with her as they wanted to. These are new show runners so maybe they just don't have the pull. Also they can kill her off if they want to, so thats always fun. :D

Oh! Neat last article, Courageous. I figured she was Smallville's rendition of Mercy, but had no idea that it was also a nod to Miss Teschmacher from Superman: The Movie.

And Mikhail Mxyzptlk made me sad in pants. He was too pretty and didn't wear a bowler hat. :whistle2:( What was the point in bringing in Mr. Mxyzptlk if he doesn't wear a bowler hat?
