Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
10 pm EST is still the plan. No word from Matt with 30 mins to go until gametime though. We can wait 15 or so mins after 9 before the temp boot, but if we don't hear I'd like for us to move forward since no one knows if he's even going to be around tonight.
I already said I was going to be gone till some unknown time today, and I didn't know when exactly. I said that before we even got to the weekend, before I joined the franchise even, I think. Ubernes said, "Please feel free to weigh in on the Tues deadline, too early, too late, etc." and I immediately posted saying I would be gone; no response.

If I got a loss because I was gone, that's bullshit. I informed everyone that I'd be gone Sunday and Monday until sometime today or tonight. PacerPrespect was gone Friday and Saturday, days I could have played. So if I got kicked out so he could play the CPU after all that, that's unacceptable and has soured me on the concept of the CAG league before it even really started... and that's the main reason I bought the game. Fantastic.
I would like to get the game in early Friday afternoon, just to get it done with. I'm available at pretty much anytime Friday, how about you?
I don't get out of work until 5, so the earliest I could play would probably be 6 or so.

Ravens 38
Bengals 17

I actually managed to get a defensive showing in this game and then a BS pass interference call and a INT off a a duck Flacco threw after getting hit pretty much gave the Bengals 14, and then a solid drive netted them 3 points... The Ravens running game dominated this game so there aint much else to talk about lol.

Ray Rice: 25 carries for 255 yards, 3 TDs
Willis McGahee (TD Vulture): 3 carries for 14 yards, 2 TDs

Ubernes - Thought of an idea which might help with scheduling. It would be helpful if those of us (like me) who are on pretty routine schedules could have that info added to the OP. That way when you have to play someone you can check there to get a basic idea what they're schedule looks like. Obviously some people have less standard schedules than others, but I think it'd be a help. Maybe you could add it in a spoiler tag next to people's XBL names in the OP?

For my own part:

I'm on a M-F 9-5 schedule, so I can almost never play during the day on weekdays. I am almost always around in the evenings and on weekends.

Knowing the Tuesday night deadline, why didn't you respond to any of my PMs confirming that we could play on Tuesday night?

You mentioned 6pm PST/9pm EST, but you weren't on even when I signed off around 10:30 pm EST.

Sorry for the mix up Matt. I believe from the last PM I got from you or the last post I recall, you said something like you'd be gone Sun-Mon and then back Tues. Pacer said last you guys spoke 9pm EST was the tentative game time. I mean, what else were we supposed to do? There was no sign of you and there's 29 other people waiting for week 2. I obviously try to be as lenient as I can towards people's varied schedules, but my role is to push things along so we're not waiting a week between games. 12:30am on Wednesday isn't exactly Tuesday either, in my defense. Again, sorry, but I had to move things along.

Agreed. If everyone can do this it would be greatly appreciated.

Texans' Availability: M-F 5pm est til 11pm est. Sat.-Sun. 10am est - 12 noon., otherwise sporadic availability on the weekend

49ers availability Tues thru Fri available 7pm to 10pm , Weekends I'm off every other Saturday and Sunday free depending on time. I'm also off every other Monday.

Now that school is starting up I should be able to play from 8-11 PM on weekdays. Then again, I'm sure I'll be on more often than that.

Breaking News out of Tennessee.

Four year Tennessee Titans owner Soodmeg announces his surprise retirement from the CAG Virtual Football League after starting the season 0 - 2. Soodmeg who won the Superbowl in the 08-09 season and lost to BigAT in the championship last year gave his resignation to Commissioner Ubernes last night in a formal letter and held a emotional press conference to address the public early this morning.

"It pains me to leave such a great league but it has been said by many great coaches and players, the day the game stops being fun is the day you should leave, that day has come for me. The way in which the game has evolved and is now played is something I dont have the heart to continue. I choose now to leave so that a future owner will have the time to turn this club around in the right way. Although I wont miss the game I will miss the people I played with, coach with and talked with. Most of all I will miss my involvement in off the field actives, my time writing press reports, compiling awards and highlights. I wish the league and its owners the best of luck."

A more direct reason why
Although I really do hate to leave the league, I cant stand the way madden is played I am not saying its wrong though. It has nothing to do with you guys nor is it fair for me to try to press my opinion on you guys. Also for some of you that havent played me that much I easily put up 60+ points on everyone (except BigAT) I know how to play madden. I simply dont have the heart to spend 40 min guarding drag routes and RB screens and slot WR. Its not that I cant stop these plays I dont have the heart to run the same 5 defenses in every single online, offline, online franchise I play and pretend that its football.

I switched to #1 DB and I dont even see any action because people dont even throw to their first string WR. My opponent (sorry dude I cant remember how to spell your name and remember he didnt do anything wrong) ran that HB pitch play out of the same formation like 8 times. Did I know it was coming? Yes...did I try to stop it? No, whats the point? If it wasnt the HB pitch it would have just been a slot drag/slant or a RB screen. I worked for 2 days on a gameplan that had it so I didnt call the same play twice in a fucking half and everyone I play its the same story. Madden is hallow for me as it seems that the very last of any football related tactics, thought process, gameplans have been stripped out and replaced with pure video game thoughts. People dont talk about what tactics work best against a running team that talk about individual money plays that too some extent exploit the AI.

Anyway, Grand Cru...that was the best game of madden I ever played too bad that will only happen once and a blue moon. Good luck, sorry guys.

In a related story;

The state of Tennessee has released a formal statement deciding to somehow openly blame USC football coach Lane Kiffin for Soodmeg's shocking announcement.

Coach Kiffin's only reply to the volunteer state was to say " Get over it, anyone in their right mind would leave Tennessee for southern California. "

I think you ment Grand Cru not ramse , but its cool, if you decide not to trade the game in feel free to hit me. up for a game or two.

To keep everyone updated on the team changes being made due to Sood leaving. Tha IllusiveMan (CAG name: js1) is taking over the Titans. His week 2 game being played already works out nicely as he should get back his copy of Madden by the time we kick off week 3. jbrun85 is taking over the Bucs. So whoever is playing him this week, feel free to shoot him a PM.

I believe 4 games were played last night so we're moving along nicely in week 2. Let's keep it rolling.
On another note is anybody willing to trade a qb ?
Big Ben is on the block

No offense man, but taking your ball and going home is pretty sad. Especially since I was nice enough to give up the Titans for you without any issue whatsoever (yes, I know you played as them in the league before I took them over, which is irrelevant). You knew you hated the game before release, and we know you knew that since you bitched about it constantly. You should have dropped out then so I could have taken the Titans back, which I would have happily done. Now someone else will be saddled with an 0-2 record because you couldn't even be bothered to try and win out of some principled stand (in a video game no less).

We all agree that Madden isn't real football, expecting it to be at this point is unrealistic and ridiculous. Packing up shop now is just lame.

I will send offers for big ben and michael vick via pm message out when I get home from work, is Pat White on the block by anychance dolphins owner.

On another note saints owner when do you want to play ?

Sorry Sir, Pat White is not on the trading block.

I could use a backup for Peyton Manning. I don't need anyone super awesome, but it'd be nice to have a reliable arm in case he takes a hard shot.

I agree the game is very frustrating at times with some of the mechanics and lack of throughly even-keeled design (defense comes to mind), there are times where I curse the madden gods for this as I get pummeled by the same fly, or post route, or when Adrian Peterson literally shrugs off my entire linebacking corp's en-route to a 85 yard run.

Things like that irk me immensely, yet things like that have and will ALWAYS exist in Madden. Every year there is some new gripe, and every year there is something new to like. Overall I still greatly enjoy the game, thus why I am here, obviously.

While I enjoy playing football as close to how I would coach a team myself, were I making millions of dollars as a coach in the NFL, I think somethings about the game just need to be taken with a grain of salt, and at times one does need to step back and realize it is a game.

While I am not a person who goes for it on 4th and 6 on my own 35 in the 2nd quarter of a game, nor will I run the same 'god-play' time and time again to run up the score, or create a asinine football experience.

That all being said, it is a game, it is for fun, and yes it is still a competitive league. Which means if I am down in the 4th, or late 3rd, and I feel like I need to run a certain play, like a slant, or a screen, or whatever the hell the play is that will get me those yards for my first down, I am going to do it - period.

I believe Coach Herm Edwards said it best, when he described the reason why we play the game? Yes its video game football, but winning will always be more -FUN- than losing, fact of life.

Checks and balances, do not play like a total douche, but play to win in a mature fashion. I'd like to think we all know the difference.
I will listen to offers for Vick. Please follow Grand Cru's lead and send via PM.
Same goes for Big Ben

I'm still planning to do a Weekly Power Rankings as promised before the season. It would be pointless to do it now before things have settled down, I think after Week 4 I'll do the first one.

You could write some predictions, I think that would be cool

Weekly power rankings? lol that is actually a great idea.

Means I better step my game up before I look embarassed and silly come week 5 :cold:
You could write some predictions, I think that would be cool
Too early to say for sure, not enough evidence to go on especially with so many new people. Last year Azu did a Playoff Picture thing as we got into the latter half of the season, so I'll try and do that as well as well as the power rankings.

Again I will send my offers around 7pm est this evening if the owners with big ben and vick don't mind me asking what position would you like to improve on your team ?

For the colts owner I am looking to trade alex smith, who would be more than a solid back up for you.

On another note thanks ubernes for responding to my pm I will make the change when I get home from work today.

I am looking to deal Albert Haynesworth for draft pick/s.

Anyone.....?

Anyone at all.............?

Bueller..............................?

For Haynesworth? Well, if I recall he is a 86, at the moment. However that rating is based mainly on a poor statisical performance in 09' within the Redskins ill fitting 3-4 defensive scheme, where he shines in a 4-3 as a defensive tackle. The ability is still there, ( only 2 seasons removed from defensive player of the year) however his contract is massive, which has led to almost zero interest in real life from teams (that and his character issues)

I'd be looking for a first round pick ideally (obviously), but would be willing to put togethor a package deal to perhaps sweeten the deal with any potential suitors. If you are really that interested, PM me here :)

Oh, I live in DC, I know all about Haynesworth's woes. :D Just one more reason I'm glad I'm not a Skins fan.

I'll think about it.

BigAT and his Giants just murdered the Colts 28-0

respecknucklesma5.jpg

Good game, man. I haven't been manhandled like that in a long time. lol It was essentially a 3 quarter game since I waived the white flag. I felt like I was in federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison.

I should've stayed the Bucs so I had an excuse to go 0-16. LOL

The man is a beast. I was rolling along destroying everything in my path last season and then ran into BigAT who held my roaring Titans offense to 3 points.

The Colts are too good for you to go 0-16 though, you've just run into some tough opponents early on.

wow zero points, I guess I will admit I'm somewhat worried but also excited for an oppurtunity to play BigAt and those Giants again , I feel like its been so long.
