Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!

Weren't you one of the teams that upset him last season? Or was that the Cowboys?

There's no rule against this of course, but please don't go and gut your teams just for the sake of doing it especially if for some reason you don't see yourself being here multiple seasons. :) Thanks.

I would think that's why we have the review process in place, right? No one should be trading anyone key unless they're getting something substantial back, even if that's a draft pick.

Though indeed it would be unfair for people to go trading away draft picks for players if they don't intend to be around for more than one season, so maybe there needs to be some discussion about rules for trading picks.

I'll take offers on Jonathan Stewart (88 OVR) or possibly Deangelo Williams (92 OVR) if anyone is interested. I've got way too many weak spots on my depth chart to consider having the luxury of two awesome running backs. I'm more of a pass-heavy offense anyways...it's not really a choice, I just always seem to get off to a horrible start and have to end up scoring as quick as possible later on. I guess I'd be most interested in a QB...but I'd be open to offers elsewhere too.

Keep in mind there's no trades until the end of the preseason, which is another couple weeks. So no use making all sort of grand machinations just yet.
Trades- 1. We're going to hold off on ALL trades until the NFL preseason wraps up.
2. Once the NFL preseason ends all trades MUST be agreed upon by both parties and then presented to the league for discussion.
3. The commissioner will lead this discussion and ultimately decide whether or not to pass the trade based on the opinions of the league.

GG Hydro.

My defense played very well (2 INTs, 1 sack, 1 user forced fumble) and I got a little lucky on the offensive side of the ball. Following an interception by Corey Webster, on my offensive first play of the game, Hydro made the mistake of thinking that 5 guys was enough to take down Brandon Jacobs.

http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/31274295

Then, the Colts' defense politely asked Hakeem Nicks to go down after he had caught a pass. Mr. Nicks was rather rude in his response.

OK... i'm a die-hard Panthers fan so i'm lookin to acquire anybody u willin to give up... but in the spirit of fairness and realistic football, i'm in serious pursuit of Jonathan Stewart, Brandon LaFell, Chris Gamble, and possibly Jon Beason, Travelle Wharton, Steve Smith, and Jeff Otah

I'm interested in a wide receiver and a safety if anybody has them, this is the Jags owner.

Anybody on my team is on the block except MJD.

PM with offers!!

I don't know if it's just me or if the Colts defense just sucks that much at tackling. I do know that Jacobs is an absolute beast in this game though, as I have played as the Giants numerous times and ran over numerous players online with him. lol

Also the user forced fumble was AWESOME, I wish I would have thought to upload that highlight for you. On my side, Addai was blood red (fatigued) so I subbed in Donald Brown on a HB Screen just inside the redzone, I think it was. Brown cut outside and was met with quite a few Giants defenders, one being BigAT and his fumble forcing ways. It figures that that had to happen on a drive where I was actually doing something, too. haha

Big props to BigAT in that shutout though. You don't see that very often in Madden games.

A game where tackles are as easily shrugged off as they are in this one certainly benefits Jacobs, who I can guess without looking has one of the very highest ratings in that particular category.

Hey Ubernes can you kick CruGotBanned out the league so I can rejoin as Mr Grand Cru again.

As far as trades since we are waiting til after the real life preseason will the trade deadline be extended because if it will actually be around week 6 in the league than that means we have 2 game weeks about 5-6 days to make trades and get them approved, thats not a whole lot of time.

I don't believe there's a trade deadline in Madden and worst case scenario if there is one we can do it through waivers. I'll hop on shortly and reinvite you.
Knowing the Tuesday night deadline, why didn't you respond to any of my PMs confirming that we could play on Tuesday night?

You mentioned 6pm PST/9pm EST, but you weren't on even when I signed off around 10:30 pm EST.
Dude... I PM'ed you back on Friday and/or Saturday. I didn't get a message from you till either late Monday or early Tuesday morning. I said I would be gone till sometime Tuesday. That meant I had no internet access. How was I supposed to receive your PM's, let alone respond to them? I never said a thing about a certain time. I might have said I'd be back no earlier than 9 Eastern, but I had no diea when I'd be back on Tuesday since I wasn't driving. I said all that on Friday or Saturday.
Sorry for the mix up Matt. I believe from the last PM I got from you or the last post I recall, you said something like you'd be gone Sun-Mon and then back Tues. Pacer said last you guys spoke 9pm EST was the tentative game time. I mean, what else were we supposed to do? There was no sign of you and there's 29 other people waiting for week 2. I obviously try to be as lenient as I can towards people's varied schedules, but my role is to push things along so we're not waiting a week between games. 12:30am on Wednesday isn't exactly Tuesday either, in my defense. Again, sorry, but I had to move things along.
You said, "If anyone has any problems with the Tuesday deadline, speak up." That was Saturday. I responded right away and said I'd be gone till Tuesday, not sure what time I'd be back, and that Pacer would be gone all weekend, Friday-Sunday/Monday. So I had to wait for him, but he couldn't wait for me? And I thought when you said, "Speak up", it was to solve any conflicts, but what I said was ignored.

I went out of my way to ensure that everyone knew about me being gone. Pacer was gone on Friday and Saturday, days I could have played. If anyone deserved a loss, it was Pacer, not me.

What a fucking joke. I won't be making any concessions in this league from here on out due to this. If you need me to be flexible, too bad. If you don't respond to my post or PM about a game, I won't bother to bug you about it. I'm already 0-1 when I never even was allowed to play the game, which I probably would have won.

I just can't believe I got fucked over like this after going out of my way to make sure everyone knew via PMs and posts that I'd be gone, and that I couldn't play sooner only due to Pacer not being available. So he can't play me due to going on a trip for 3 days and that's fine, but I go on a trip for 3 days that I made known before he ever left and I get kicked so he can play the CPU?

Jesus Christ. Even 3 separate members of this league sent PMs in regards to my last post saying how stupid of a decision that was and how they're not at all confident with the way things have been going.

Glad I bought Madden to play in the CAG league, though!

I am sorry, but every time anyone goes on a tirade from now on, all I am going to be thinking of is how ridiculously awful the game Shaq-Fu was.

Truly, truly, horrible game.

Seriously? We're stirring up anonymous dissent now?

Dude, I think everyone recognizes you're pissed. It's obvious a mistake was made and there was a breakdown in communication. If you want to blame ubernes for that fine, but it's not like he maliciously decided to fuck you over. It was a mistake, it happened, he clearly felt bad about it and apologized (in the first AND last sentence of the post you quoted). Move on.

For the record, I think ubernes is under no obligation whatsoever to run this league and does so anyway and does, in my mind, a fucking fantastic job of it. If you don't like the way he's running it and think the whole world is out to get you, quit.

There must be something in the water today, wow.

:bomb:

I beat about half of them but didn't realize I had to manually save them, so I'm going to need to start from scratch. Not particularly motivated to do so yet.

Also, I'm in the process of writing re-caps for all the Week 2 games that have been played. I'll try to do this every week (if I have time). I'll post the first batch when I'm done, though usually I'll wait for the whole week to finish.

Yeah pretty dumb that there's no autosave. I only have 3 left, But every one where you have to inside kick is pretty hard.

I beat all of them. The onside kick ones gave me the most trouble. I hope they finally add a restart option next year, rather than having to wait until the clock runs out.

Well, it's true. I got PM's from people saying those things. They obviously chose not to make their complaints public,. I, on the other hand, say what I think unlike a lot of people.

There was no breakdown in communication. You can look back through the thread and see when I posted and what I posted. It was right after ubernes asked if there were any problems with advancing Tuesday. And PacerPrespect, a new guy who has been around for a month, straight out lied and said we had set a time when we had had no communication since Friday.

On that afternoon (evening for him, actually) he PMed me saying he'd be out of town, asking if I could play Monday. I told him I could play Friday or Saturday, but would be out of town Sunday, Monday, and coming back sometime Tuesday. He didn't respond until Sunday, when he asked me to let him know what time I could play (clearly illustrating that we had not set a time) and then he messaged me at 5-something A.M. on Monday asking me to let him know. I told him I would be gone; I don't know why he expressed such confusion on here about my lack of a response. But he doesn't seem to be too honest, as I said already.

I certainly don't deserve a loss. I stated my situation publicly right when the possibility of a Tuesday advancement was brought up. That was missed or ignored, and Pacer straight out lied. He should be kicked from the league. Now, I have an 0-1 record when I probably would have won the game and I got screwed out of my chance to do so because my opponent lied.

Of course now people who were cool with me before are making comments saying "quit the league" and other shit when they'd feel the same way if it happened to them. The thing is, I got the game to play in the league, so having shit like this happen is basically taking money out of my pocket.

Again, I will make no concessions from here on out. My opponent for week 2 has made no attempt to contact me. If he doesn't, I will play the CPU and I will win. I will not bug anyone about playing their games. You don't respond to my first message, then it's your loss- literally.

As promised, here's a preview of my Week 2 Recap. I'll wait and post the rest after the games are all finished, and in general will wait until the end of each week to post. I tried to add some color to the games, but obviously I didn't actually watch them, so I have to infer some things based on the stats. If you post highlights, I'll try to work them in here as well (see below.) Please feel free to make any suggestions for improvement.

Week 2 Recap

Ravens 38, Bengals 17
The Ravens rebounded from a hard-fought loss to the Jets in Week 1 to show the sort of fortitude which took them all the way to the Super Bowl last season. Behind a dominant ground game (28 carries for 269 yard and 5 touchdowns) the Ravens held the ball for over 60% of the game. The game was tied at the half, but the Ravens broke it open late in the game, outscoring the Bengals 24-3 over the last two quarters to move to 1-1 on the season. The Bengals, off to a tough start against strong opponents, fall to 0-2.

Bucs at Panthers

Coming soon.

Bills at Packers

Coming soon.

Dolphins at Vikings

Coming soon.

Bears at Cowboys

Coming soon.

Lions 24, Eagles 21

Despite being outgained in total offense by the high-flying Eagles, the Lions won thanks to two tried and true tenets of football: Control the clock, and hold onto the ball. Both Matthew Stafford and the ground game were efficient and mistake-free. The Eagles, clearly missing the veteran presence of Brian Westbrook, relied heavily on the pass. Despite a valiant effort by Kevin Kolb who threw for 3 touchdowns, a couple of costly interceptions - including one returned for a touchdown - swayed the course of the game. With the result, each team moves to 1-1 on the season.

Falcons 35, Cardinals 10

The Falcons, after giving up 59 points in Week 1, came into this game with a renewed focus on defense, and it clearly paid off. Forcing three turnovers while allowing none put the Falcons in firm control of this game. They didn't ask much of Matt Ryan, who was efficient and threw for 2 touchdowns on only 11 pass attempts. Michael Turner was brilliant on the ground, rushing for 2 scores on 170 yards. The Cardinals clearly miss Kurt Warner, as Matt Leinart looked shaky at times in throwing up a couple of key interceptions. In an odd statistical twist, despite being outgained on the ground nearly 3-to-1, the Cardinals won the time of possession battle. The Falcons right the ship at 1-1, matching the Cardinals' mark after their week 1 win over the Rams.

Chiefs at Browns

Coming soon.

Steelers 56, Titans 24

Showing the sort of offensive firepower few believed they possessed anymore coming into the season, the Steelers put up over 600 total yards for the second consecutive week. They're certainly not winning pretty, having turned the ball over 6 times in 2 games. However, having forced 7 turnovers in that same span it seems clear that this high octane high risk/high reward style will be the calling card of the Steelers all season. Most of the damage was done on the ground, where they gashed the reeling Titans for a mind-boggling 448 yards on 26 carries (a drunkenly stupendous 17.2 yards per carry). This newly reborn Pittsburgh powerhouse moves to 2-0 on the season, while the Titans are left searching for answers and a new coach after what can only be described as a disastrous start to what many hoped would be a playoff campaign.

Seahawks at Broncos

Coming soon.

Raiders 51, Rams 17

Before the season there were whispers about the Chargers running away with the AFC West, but in just two weeks the upstart Raiders have brought any such talk to a screeching halt. They were dominant for the second straight week, putting up an astonishing 51 points despite holding the ball for only about 6 minutes (a more than 2-to-1 disadvantage). Jason Campbell threw the ball only 6 times, completing all 6, including 2 touchdowns. Combine a strong rushing attack, suffocating defense and a score on special teams and the Raiders are surely looking like the real deal. The tough luck Rams put up a good fight, but it was a tough day for #1 overall pick Sam Bradford who completed only 38% of his passes while throwing up 2 picks. The Rams fall to 0-2 while the surprise new Silver and Black Menace moves to 2-0, stamping their presence on the AFC.

Patriots at Jets

Coming soon.

Texans at Redskins

Coming soon.

Jaguars at Chargers

Coming soon.

Giants 28, Colts 0

Coming off two recent Super Bowl wins, the Giants were without a doubt considered the prohibitive favorite coming into the young season, but nobody could have predicted they would be this dominant this soon. After allowing an uncharacteristically high (for them) 20 points in week 1, the Giants set out to make a statement, and did so in grand fashion by shutting out Peyton Manning and the Colts. You may not be aware, but the Colts have NEVER been shut out in the regular season under Manning (they were shut out by the Jets in the playoffs in 2002). Eli was clearly the superior Manning on this day, throwing for 3 touchdowns, whereas all Peyton could manage was 2 picks. Really, this game was all about the legendary Giants D, who held the Colts under 150 offensive yards to move to an unsurprising 2-0 on the season. The Colts meanwhile, no doubt considered the pre-season favorites in the AFC South, are going to have to climb their way out of an 0-2 hole.

We get it, you're mad. I apologized. Now it's time to get over it. You bitching about it isn't going to change what happened. So you have 2 options, stop whining and try to be a positive contributor to this league or leave. No one is making stay and no one is going to put up with you being a malcontent all season either.

It's not as easy as you seem to think keeping track of 31 other team owners, their preferences, their complaints or their questions. But I do feel I have in the past done a pretty good job at it and feel, despite a start that has been maybe more bumpy than I would like, I'm doing a pretty good job now. If you don't see it that way, that's fine. Feel free to voice your opinion. As you did, multiple times. But as I said above, it's now time for you to drop your week 1 complaint and move on with the league.

By the way, Pacer isn't new and him being booted isn't being considered. He has been around since the start of the last season of Madden 10, including the final tournament we did. And has been one of the more active members of this season.

Oh, I'm well aware of that, which was why I was all too happy to give up the Titans to you in the preseason even though I played them last year. You wanted them, I gave them up, no questions asked.

So it's not unreasonable to expect I'd have something to say about you packing up shop after 2 weeks. Given what you point out is your extensive history in CAG Madden leagues, I thought you'd be sticking around and wanted you to have your favorite team. Had I known otherwise, I wouldn't have let you take them.

So I'll say whatever I want, thanks.

i'm a lil late but i gotta throw my two cents in (its worth 5 lol)... Matt, i've been where u are. I had a somewhat critical game simmed last season and i lost but it wasnt cuz i wasnt around... my opponent never posted or responded to my pm... at thet time i had 1 loss already but i was in control of the AFC. The sim loss gave me my second loss and caused me to go into the playoffs as the #3 seed instead of #1.

honestly dude, i say exactly whats on my mind and dont sugar coat it for anybody so this is 100% real... Let it go. One loss doesnt doom your season. I went to back to back super bowls and didnt go undefeated in either of them. U took an L, albeit undeserved, but thats no different than getting beat by a ridiculous Madden play that would never work in real life... u gotta roll with the punches buddy.

NOW, because i check the forum from my Droid X (shameless plug), i get tired of sifting thru pages of nonsense. Can we please try to keep the posts relevant to the games that we play, trade talks, and such? I dont need to get caught at work checkin on my Madden league cuz my phone only has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor... Thanks :)

The non-restart option is a pain, I just finished the first onside kick one (Chiefs?) and slowly working my way up there dreading the last one.

BTW: i assume Madden leagues have no 'public' page with box scores etc? I've been watching this thread because I'm actually just interested in seeing how the games go.

Well said. And as the person who benefit from your sim loss and went on to be the #1 seed, I can personally attest to the fact that it made no difference at all since you beat me in the playoffs anyway (in an epic game, as I recall).

And Sood.. Maybe I went a bit far in criticizing you. I'm frustrated I gave up the Titans and am stuck for this season with the Chargers, but that's not your fault. I apologize.

See, cooler heads?

Out of respect to Ubernes I am going to drop this garbage.

Been on the site barely a year and thinks he knows and runs everything. You didnt give me the Titans I had them because I have been here longer than you knew CAG existed. Let Ubernes handle Matt Young as he is the commish and Matt as been here 5 years son.

Slow your roll, play your games, have some fun if anyone is taking this way to serious its you.

EDIT:
Fine I will take that but you should really calm down a little man. Us CAGs have been with each other for years, playing in leagues and talking to each other. Its a little troubling when someone who has only been here a year comes out of now where spitting fire. I quit early because I wanted someone who actually enjoyed the game to have a chance in the league. I play with CAGs all the time I will see them in some other league at some point.

The amount of time I've been on the site is utterly immaterial to anything. The fact is I'm every bit as involved in this community as you are and have just as much right to be here as you. I didn't just "come out of nowhere", you can ask anyone who was in last year's league how active and friendly I was. I don't appreciate your condescension in the slightest.

Whether you think you were entitled to the Titans or not, ubernes had me slotted as them to start the season based on my having played them in the last Madden 10 league. When you came in the thread saying that you wanted them, I could have put up a stink, but I didn't say word one. You can choose to feel that you were simply entitled to take the team and ignore that fact, or you can appreciate that I was willing to defer to you without a second thought. That's really up to you.

I was venting my frustrations at having been stuck with a team I didn't really want, just like you likely would have if I'd made some epic stink about giving up the Titans and you'd taken another team. I went too far with it and I apologized, but at no time was I anything less than calm, I don't get worked up over video games.

Lastly, I'm not your son. I'm an adult, just like I assume you are. Show people the same respect that you expect to get from them.
