Marvel Ultimate Alliance - Gen. Discussion
I just got this game about a week ago, and I can't stop playing it. It's so much better than I thought it would be. Especially since I only mildly liked the X-Men Legends games.
Same here, though X-Men Legends II was pretty good .
The only thing I hate about this game is that I feel like I HAVE to use some kind of FAQ because I don't want to miss a character statue / comic disk (since they are essential to unlocking some badasses).

Some of this stuff is hard to find.
I know what you mean, but you do know that you can simply extract yourself to whereever to pick up whatever you missed?
Oooh....Can't wait. Did the survey mention whether they would be made free or if you they would come in a pack with maybe some more missions? really I'm just interested in which characters (Hulk and maybe Punisher please oh please. Hell even the PSP "exclusive" characters would be pretty awesome.).
It didn't give any details at all, it just asked what we would like to see. I for one can't friggin wait to hear what they come up with! Hulk would be awesome with a Grey Hulk costume.

As for who I never used before, I haven't used any X-Men because I already used them in Legends. I also never used Invisible Woman, Cage, Elektra or Nick Fury. My main team consisted of Iron Man, Captain America, Ghost Rider, and Black Panther. My second play through on co-op, I'll use all different characters. I can't believe how much fun this game is!

You have to fight your way through everyone again, and some stuff, namely the very beginning of Act 2, if you miss the comic book disc you can NEVER go back to get it. You'll have to start a brand new game.

I want everyone unlocked for my second run through.

BTW, these comic book missions suck ass... they are so boring after awhile, they all share the same level layout.

And for everyone who is wishing for The Hulk... better just give up. The rights to him, his likeness, his villains, almost everything is locked up by Vivendi. I think the only thing you can use is Bruce Banner but even then you can't make mention of him even being The Hulk (as noted in the game). That's why there aren't even any Hulk villains like Abomination or Leader in the game.

It's rumored Hulk WAS going to be a current gen console exclusive but they had to pull him at the last minute.

Right now my main team is Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Cage, and Deadpool... sometimes I'll switch in Spider-Man. You know I've almost beaten the game and I completely forgot to make my own team? I just never got around to it.

I finally used Storm, and Storm + Asgard Armor (50% damage bonus to electric attacks) + maxed out first lightning power = instant death to almost anyone.

I agree. The first one was neat, but then I was very bored with them. I also suck at the ones where your character is great at taking damage. If I get overwhelmed, I'm done for. It drives me nuts.

Oh yea, that Black Panther one was insanely hard for me until I just used Stealth and cheaped my way through it.

I'm stuck on the Iceman and Spider-Woman ones, they are the last 2 I need to do other than the 4 I have to unlock still.

Spider-Woman has all energy attacks and she's on a map where almost everyone is energy resistant, and Iceman gets his ass beat by Mysterio.

Spider-man's has pissed me off the most. I feel like Dum Dum is trying to die so I can't win. He gets beat on so damn much!

For Spider-Woman, try using her healing aura and her first venom blast with the concentrated beam (can't remember the exact name). They helped me a ton.

For Spider-Man, use Spider-Sense... in the battle with Scorpion that + the AIM soldiers will drop a TON of blue orbs so you should pretty much be spider-sensed all the time.

Ok... here's something I got off GameFAQ's.

Heart of Mephisto is AWESOME for the comic book missions... it makes the boss fights easy as pie.

I just aced Mysterio no problem as Iceman and it made Spider-Woman's comic book mission so simple too.

Good know. Thanks.

Does anyone know how to get the achievement for the Skrull Cityscape?

Can I got back and re-do the level and get it that way, or can I only do it once per game?

EDIT: Woot, finally beat every comic book mission and got Silver Surfer!

congrats. I probably already missed a bunch of comic missions and wasn't that patient, so since the code does not mess with achievements, boom instant gratification. Always nice.
I'm in no rush to get all that stuff the first time through. I plan to go back and do it as I replay the game.
I got all this bullshit out of the way first so I can replay it on hard and just enjoy the game, which I'm doing now, the game is still pretty damn awesome espically since I don't have to worry about any more secret shit or stupid comic book missions.

Plus, I would have just thrown in the code for Silver Surfer from the get go but eh, I had to do all the comic book missions for the costumes anyways. The dude is a beast at the end of the game.

BTW, the last Act was really disappointing, and the Galactus fight sucks ass.

The ending itself is really great though.

Just rented this(haven't popped it in), is there any way to play local coop and have both players get in on the achievements? Thanks!

Well, just about got all the costumes, which is the last achievement I think I'm going for, and wow, Colossus and Nick Fury REALLY suck ass.

I mean, wow, Colossus is supposed to be a tank right? He soaks up damage really badly and all of his special moves are pretty weak.

As long as both players sign into their Gamertags, they'll both get the achievements. You'll need to have the second players tag on a memory card or recover it from xbox live and put it on your HD for a bit though.

Yeah, I was using him for awhile and noticed how much he sucked ass. Especially when I got Blade and saw how much more damage his attacks do compared to Colossus. It's sad really.

At the end, even with maxed out powers, Colossus still sucks ass... if he was able to hold damage it would be ok, but he can't, and he can't dish it out on top of it. It's just kind of disappointing all around. I noticed Thing wasn't too great of a tank either, and his specials were kind of boring. The two best tanks I ever used were Luke Cage and Thor.

Wait until you play as Nick Fury... I swear the dude goes down in 3 hits and has the weakest special moves in the game.

At the end of the game, some of the best characters I saw were Silver Surfer, Daredevil, Dr Strange (for real, this guy is a BEAST), Ghost Rider with the right equipment is insane, and there's one or two more I can't remember right now.

You aren't kidding on Dr Strange. Also, I feel Deadpool is amazing.
You aren't kidding on Dr Strange. Also, I feel Deadpool is amazing.
Yea, that's how I couldn't remember, Deadpool.

Dr Strange with a maxed out Falteen Flame (area attack that gives him life BACK) and a maxed out Black Magic (can turn enemies into crates, something like a 36% chance) turns him into a beast.

Gets even better when you pump points into his costumes.

I think Captain America was pretty beastly to me. His shield can take out a ton of guys in a closed room without you even controlling the shield. Also, Moon Knight's nunchucks can be extremely deadly. And his super power in a small room is ridiculous.

I agree. I also think Blade is pretty good. It helps that his xtreme power looks so damn cool. I also enjoy using Invisible Woman, though no one else seems to. She's fun to use with the telekinesis and invisibility. Plus that projectile shield works really well against a lot of bosses.

Invisible Woman is alot of fun, I think. She's not too powerful, though.

Daredevil is a beast too, one of his baton attacks, I think the extending one, hits twice in one shot for big damage once it's maxed out with a maxed out Baton Damage on his costume.

Wow, you were right. The Galactus battle was really underwhelming. I mean it's Galactus! That should have been the best boss battle in the game.

I'm really digging this game, despite having never read a Marvel comic in my life (I've never even seen an X-Men or Spider-Man movie). My team of Iron-Man, Wolverine, Spider Man and Spider Woman is pretty sweet. Anyone wanna play some co-op so I can get some of those achievements?
I saw you playing online. How can anyone like Ms. Marvel? I've never even heard of her.
You may be more familiar with Rogue from the X-Men. Rogue is known for possessing the mutant ability to take on other mutant powers by touch... Anyways, Rogue is also known for the ability to fly and having super human strength. What is not as widely known, is how she recieved these additional powers. She essentially absorbed them from Ms. Marvel, permanently.

Just some food for thought.

Oh you beat me to it! I'm a little upset since I used to be Jean alot in XML, and I'm shocked that she (or Phoenix) isn't a playable character.. :(

But I was pretty much set when I found out that Ms Marvel was in the game, since Rogue was my favorite character on the TV show (LOL) and that episode made me go "Ooooh, well thank you Ms Marvel!)

Mr Fantastic kinda pwns too...

EDIT: You know what I'm kinda surprised about? The fact that this game doesn't have ANY gamerpics. Not even 1 free one, nor 4-5 different packs of 5 for 90 points. I just figured a game like this, there'd be a gamerpic for the heroes..and some villians. Maybe they'll add this later..but it's already been out for a few months. ::shrugs::

Hey, I have some questions :)

Bare with me, thanks!

So I'm on the Atlantis level. Just to give you guys an idea of how far I am. I don't have any questions about the level at all. I started this game on co-op (local, btw). I've checked out the achievements (and secret ones).

The arcade achievements beating a level by yourself..? When I start the game (since I'm player 1), he hits start then it says about going into Co-Op mode so of course we do. Right now I'm on an Xtraction Point and it has the option to go into Arcade mode. I hit it just for fun and Spiderman and The Human Torch (the other 2 CPUs) disappeared and our 2 characters were left.

Here's my question. Is there such thing as 2 player Arcade mode? It would mean that we would need to beat the certain amount of levels required (I know it's like 1 level, 25 levels..and something else?) on this "2 player arcade" we would BOTH get the achievements...?

If someone can clear that up for.. I'd be thankful. :)

Update 2/26: DLC annonced for spring:

I got the following email from the Ultimate Alliance Club:

We’re currently working on the release of some truly awesome Xbox Live downloadable content for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, scheduled for later thisSpring.
We can't get into specifics just yet, but we assure you that you'll be pleased. (we listened very closely to your survey feedback!)
Therefore, hold onto your Xbox 360s as you won't want to miss what’s coming up. We’ll keep you posted in a couple of months…
What the Hell would the DLC be?
IIRC, the survey's they sent out asked questions like "What characters would you like to see in the game" and things of that nature.

I would be fucking psyched if they somehow added more characters into the game.
I would be fucking psyched if they somehow added more characters into the game.
That would be fan-freaking-tastic, however doubtful. Maybe the "exclusive" characters from the PSP version? I'd think that some new costumes wouldn't be hard to pull off. Maybe ... something Civil War related?

I think its pretty awesome that they are gonna release some DLC so long after release. I would think most companies would be like fuck it lets put it into the next version.

Hm... I have the original Xbox version, and have only played a tiny portion (I didn't have a 360 when I got it.). Think I should sell it and get the 360 version?

You can sell it now if you're done with it and then buy it on the X360 when the DLC is announced/available if the DLC is worth it to you.

Is there a comprehensive list of secret items for the 360 version anywhere? I just started playing this last night (got it for Xmas). It's pretty fun so far. I'm a big X-men/Marvel fan too.

Does anybody have anymore VIP codes? I would love one if they're still out there. What exactly do they do anyway?

Search gamefaqs.com for guides.

VIP is now closed since they have started a Spider-Man 3 videogame club. See details here:

I was surprised as hell when I got the email yesterday too.

I didn't think the game supported content downloads. I assume it may be patched like PDZ/PGR3 had to.

Cool info...I will be picking this up soon and this is more incentive. I played through it on the PSP. Great game.

Quick question as I don't remember, but if you missed the action figures on their levels when you were going through the game then is there anyway to still get them back for the acievement and the character?
