Mavs to the Finals: Congrats to the Heat
This draft seems like it is going to be really weak IMO. A lot of players look to be works in progress. Tyrus Thomas is a GREAT athlete but so was Darius Miles.

Even Adam Morrison (who is probably more NBA ready than any other player) needs some defensive seasoning.

The player than everone seems to be underrating is Shelden Williams though. That guy has the body and the defensive presence to make an immediate impact for a team. Not necessarily as a franchise player, but a SOLID defender who can score.
Sheldon is a will be a good defensive player in the NBA. But he is not a top 5 pick. That's why he is not getting talked about as much as the other players. I think Tyrus Thomas is the best player in the draft but he is a work in progress. Morrison can make an immidiate impact. But i see him slipping down to the thrid pick.

Man, could you imagine Adam Morrison in a high octane offense like the Suns have?

I notice that James White is projected to go second round. That's cool because my brother-in-law played against him when he was playing for Hargrave Military academy. I wish I could have said I played against a future NBA player but I couldn't play anymore.

The Pistons did look sluggish....it just didn't even feel like a Playoff Game. The crowd sucked also....no emotion. Hopefully they pick it up tomorrow night.

I was excited thinking the Pistons got Orlando's pick (Darko trade), but they get the 2007 OR 2008 pick....Orlando has the option. OH well, no 1st rounder at all for the Pistons this year, not like they need it really....

I think the Suns could give the Mavs fits. They split the season series and in the Mavs wins they were pretty close games. Still I'm glad they are facing them, because I'd like to see Dirk go through the former Big 3 on his way to a championship.

Also the Bulls future looks pretty good. Already have a good young core, plus tons of cap room and a high pick. But I agree that this year's draft doesn't look like it has a superstar stud imo, but you never know who might do well in the NBA. I saw someone mention James White, I hope the Mavs can get him with their 1st round pick. I'd like them to get him or Bobby Jones.
Wait, the Mavs let Boris Diaw top 30 against them?
The Mavs also let Diaw get his 2nd career triple double against them back in March.

they said the same thing about the draft back in 99 when elton brand came out. all that crap about how there aren't any frnachise players...blah blah blah.

IMO this draft is gonna have some very good players available (Roy, Williams, and Ty Thomas to name a few).:bouncy:
Mavs blowing the late lead. They better dominate them in game 2.
the mavs dominated in game 1 and stijll lost. what they need to do is figure out how to guard those screen and rolls.
the mavs dominated in game 1 and stijll lost. what they need to do is figure out how to guard those screen and rolls.
The Mavs didn't dominate AT ALL. Devin Harris was the only player who was scoring at will. Nash and Diaw were scoring whenever they felt like it. I don't know why the fuck Avery was playing Dampier, he should play a 4 guard and Dirk lineup, like Harris, Terry, Stack, Daniels, Dirk. I hope Howard will be okay and can come back healthy and play the next game, the Mavs can't afford to go into Phoenix down 0-2.

Yeah, Devin Harris was the only dominating player for the Mavericks. Dirk did well on the offensive boards but he sucked on defense and he missed some easy shots. Any update on the injuries (Howard & Bell)? Both seemed to be in pretty good pain.

If the Mavs can play some transition defense, they should be fine.

Mavs could not play defense at all last night. You just think transtition D was the problem? Diaw was scoring in the paint at will. They just need to actually play Defense and not let the Suns score that much on them.

Pretty entertaining game last night. I'm just glad Phoenix won because I dont feel so bad about Detroit losing home court right off the bat.
Diaw in the clutch!! nice play, and proves that he is the most improved player
That's total bullshit. Anyone who leaves the Hawks is a most improved player. He won that one by default. You see how bad Joe Johnson was...

the mavs were +10 in rebounds for the game, and with the exception of the final 5 minutes they pretty much dominated the entire second half.

the point i'm trying to make is that they played a great game and still lost. and the reason is because they couldn't figure out how to cover those pick and rolls. until they learn to do that, they'll continue to have a tough time with the suns.

i hope howard is ok too. it would suck if the mavs had to go the rest of the series shorthanded like that. for that matter i hope bell and marion get healed up too, cause if both rosters are healthy this series has the potential to be a classic.

Too bad the Suns won't be 100% healthy all series long with Stoudemire and Kurt Thomas sitting on the bench in street clothes, although Thomas may be coming back soon.

Bell is doubtful for game 2.

Roy's the truth. A month ago, for our AAU team, we go the U-Dub campus for games. He was their watching all the other AAU teams. So after the 4 AAU teams their are done playing. We start a pick-up game with maybe 12 guys, Roy joins. Maybe it's because he's playing against high-schooler but he stroked...this kid is a true SG and is a perennial all-star.

wtf...that ref wasnt even looking at tayshaun for a possible timeout call...and that was a crazy shot by wade at 3...

glad pistons held them off though

I loved Tayshaun after the game. He basically bitched out the ref in a respectable way. Saying the ref said soemthing he shouldn't have said. Good win, but I'm still upset the Pistons slacked off.

I thought Diaw got about the same looks that he got against both L.A. teams. He was just on fire, and played a great game. It was inexcusable that Phoenix got so many uncontested layups, because Dallas couldn't get back in time.

Yeah Jim Gray was really trying to get Tay to say something to get himself fined.

Great game last night. Not happy the Pistons won but I didn't think the Heat could take two in a row in Detroit. Hopefully they take both games at home and keep the home court advantage they have now.
Mavs win! Nash takes only one shot in the 2nd half, a layup while down 9 and with 3 seconds left.
I don't understand that at all. Good game by the Mavs though. I think the Suns really missed Raja on D. And the Suns did not score 100. That seems to be there number.

Well the Heat looking like there going to take Game 3. It's funny how the Pistons start the hack a Shaq and then the Heat counter with the hack a Ben. Then you have to watch terrible free throw shooting for a few minutes. Personally I hate the strategy but it does work more often then not.

Ben Wallace needs to get his shit together, he was ineffective all night. Couldn't rebound, didn't dunk when he had the chance to. Should've left McDyess in there instead of Ben.

Mavs played good tonight. Big win for them. Refs did blow some calls at the end of the game like Dirks shot that did not hit the rim. But that's how things have been going all playoffs long.

I thought the ball grazed the rim on Dirk's shot, but those were big offensive rebounds down the stretch by Stackhouse. About the only thing that he did good in the game.

The shot did hit the rim. If you look closely on the replay, you can see the ball bounces slightly to the left after grazing the rim.

But yeah, it was a huge win for the Mavs. Hopefully, they can take Game 4 Tuesday and finish the series out in Dallas.

If you look at it from diffrent angles it doesnt look like it touches the rim. From the far angle it does look like it just hits the rim. So I do stand corrected. Still a few bad calls down the strecth. I thought Drik traveled a few times but thats hardly ever called in the NBA anyway. And yeah those were big rebounds by stack.

i cannot believe all the missed defensive rebounds by the suns...horrible...

and from the camera view that i saw (the one closest to a straight look toward the basket from dirk's POV), it did not hit the rim...the ref even apologized and said "my bad"...

suns and pistons (new "hack-a-wallace" in effect will hurt them a lot down the stretch) need to get their shit together

Javy shouldn't have apologized because the call was correct. He may have thought he made a mistake after seeing a quick replay, but if he'd really studied the shot, it would have been easy to spot.

However, I think this is all semantics because Dallas outplayed Phoenix in the last few possessions. Stackhouse was grabbing some great rebounds, and Dallas just finished the Suns off.

WTF is up with the pistons? They look like a second tier team against the pathetic fat, old, and ignorant team of the Heat. I guess the genius of Greasy hair Riley is finally paying off. At this point its easy to say that the west will win the championship this year. Good call OP even though it's obvious you are a fanboy.

How can a team be ignorant? This has to be the dumbest post I've read on this website.
Good call OP even though it's obvious you are a fanboy.
Yeah, I'm a fan of the Mavs, but I think they are the most complete team in the NBA right now. They have the deepest bench in the entire league and can play great offense and defense. They have a legitimate superstar who they can lean on when things get tough in Dirk and another clutch shooter in Jason Terry.

I've said all year the Mavs are the best team in the NBA, and they are going to win the next two games to close out Phoenix and will beat the Heat in six games.
How can a team be ignorant?
Agreed, I don't get it. Also, the Heat aren't THAT old...well sure, Zo and Shaq are getting there but...I don't feel like looking up everyone's age.
