Metal Gear Solid 4 & Metal Gear Online - 8/6: Rumored Trophy Update Out Now? Rumor!
So wait, is it an error, or do some DVD's purposely come with a 12 code, and some with a 9.
No idea. I'm under the impression that it's an error because someone on another forum got a reply back saying it should be 12 digits.

I hope all updates aren't this freakin slow.. took over an hour to download it and now it's installing again hahah oh well.

finally after installing everything for Ver 1.01 got it set up. I got to the point where I can enter my Game ID and password and save it (auto-login) and when I try to log in.. says: Unable to connect to server. (090B:0000001) and I can just back out into the game, no freezing occurs..

so I guess now I wait til the 21st =) glad I got everything taken care of now, b/c that was a 2hour long process!! no kidding.

a bit of trivia I suppose regarding to name shown during gameplay..

under tips under the Beta about KONAMI and GAME ID, it says:
However, these IDs are not displayed during gameplay; the name you have given your character is shown instead.

whatever that means, I guess you can have ANOTHER name to input for the online avatar..

Well this is a beta. :) Plus it is good they gave this to us prior to the start date.

Also those with 9 number codes, try splitting them up into the fields different ways because someone on the official boards said it worked (though who can really say if that is a lie or not).

Here's the email: Note, I didn't give them my code until I got this reply.

"Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for contacting Konami Support. If your code is appearing with only 9 or 11 digits, then this is incorrect.

Please copy your code exactly as it appears on your voucher in your reply to this email. We’re very sorry for this inconvenience and we will do our best to rectify the situation in time for the Beta start.
3 frickin hours to download the update.
Yea it's a good thing I didn't want to play PS3 tonight.
I can't get over how fucking shitty id.konami.net is running. Do they have the site hosted on some dude's 386?
Connected by a 14.4 bps dial-up modem. I believe they are just getting slammed like 's mom.

I am glad I am updating now. This is taking forever! I love the music though.

Man this update it makes u download after u install it is huge... I've been downloading for 2 hours now at an avg of about 50kbs (@ 97% currently)
If some one doesn't mind informing me, what are these beta dvds people are talking about and what do they do?
Pre-order bonus for MGS 4. You get in on the Metal Gear Online Beta that starts on the 21st and never ends(I forget when the beta ends)!

Well, you could try to get into the Japanese one, but they are deleting quite a bit of the Konami ID's for the Japanese edition in the US but I've had mine for a while and got in. Might try to download the European one on Monday also if you cant find a way in this one.

I got a code off of the japanese konami ID site but its telling me its invalid. Im assuming its because I need to make a Japanese account. Is that right?

Making a jap account worked.

Man, you guys weren't kidding about the download speeds. Looks like it'll probably finish in about an hour, but it's also torpedoing my connection because it insists on uploading at maximum speed. "Limit upload to 2x download speed"... yeah, that's just great.

Downloaded the beta last night, well the first part at least.

I tried to "accept" the online/terms of agreement and it gave me a network error. Anyone else have this problem? Do I need to download the update?

EDIT: Nevermind, started downloading the update. I'll probably just leave my PS3 on and go to work in 10 minutes.

Their server isn't so great right now, just have to keep trying to accept and it should work sooner or later.

I left it running P2P last night, and it failed by time I woke up. Now I can't even start P2P because of a network error. Sometimes I can't even download the terms of use without getting an error. Ugh.

All right, I'll tell everyone my situation. For the past few days, I've been trying to register a Konami ID and online ID, but every single time I do, it said every freaking email address I had was already used (this was on the first day I tried, even ones which were completely unrelated). I tried again yesterday, and kept getting errors, saying the page needs to reload due to being inactive for too long. Now, it's taking freaking forever to load up the Konami ID page (just now and not getting anywhere), and I just cannot do anything. I even tried going on campus with the super high speed internet there, and it still won't work.

I really want to get in on this, but having issues (I already have the beta key).
I'm glad I signed up when registration first opened up, as it's been smooth sailing since then for me so far with the beta.
ditto... and i got a sweet name out of it, all set till the 21st!!! can't wait!!!
sheesh! I've been trying to get the konami ID website to work for 3 days now!
Same here. I keep getting the site is busy message.

I kept getting a "Network Error" when I tried downloading the patch this morning. After about 4 tries it finally started downloading and I got to 13% before giving me an error again. I tried a couple more time afterwards and could never connect again. I'll try again tonight (and maybe screw around with some port settings on my router), but I feel like Konami could have made everyone's life easier by including the PATCHED version for download. It is really annoying to have to reset the ENTIRE GAME, just because of a network error. I was getting sick of seeing the ~30-45 seconds (I didn't actually time it, but it felt that long) of logos and loading screens only to download like 8k worth of data before having to repeat again and again....

Sigh...at least I have until Monday to get the thing downloaded.

What a goddamned mess. Between two stupid, fucking, unnecessary IDs that the PSN ids should have taken care of already, you can't even fucking register for them because the website's broken like fuck.

And then there's the update. fuckin' hell, man.

My money's on this not being fixed by Monday. Nope.

I mean, literally, I have been trying for 25+ hours. Oh, one time I got to the screen where you select your ID, and then it timed out when I submitted the page...
