NFL 2007 Season Thread

Nice to see the defense pick up the offense today.

I will admit, I hate the fucking Chargers with a passion due to their smack talking ways, but I will give them a few props (not that they'd ever return the favor, but):

- Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates played fairly well despite being hobbled.

- Those Charger DB's are something else - that leaping INT by Jammer was pretty incredible.

San Diego has a fairly young team, so I expect them to have more winning seasons. It was a good game.

Whoever finally brough up the LDT classy label being completely ridiculous - THANK YOU. Jesus. I have no idea how this mislabel started, but he's gotta be the whiniest, sulkiest, finger-pointing "great" player I've ever seen. I mean, seriously, is anyone else actually watching him on the sidelines? He's all smiles when San Diego is doing well, but the minute hard times hit, he's over there scowling and b*tching like a punk. Yes, he's one of the top 3 active football players, period, but he's not classy.

One final thing - what's with all you dipshits who have multiple NFL teams you root for? If the Patriots happen to be one your of side teams, kindly get the fuck off the bandwagon. Any self-respecting sports fan would never, EVER commit sports bigamy, and NE fans don't want your tainted asses sniffing after our team. If your birth certificate doesn't have MA/NH/RI/CT/VT/ME on it, you better have been following the Patriots pre-Brady. /rant

Another high-and-mighty Pats fan--great, just another reason to root for you guys to lose.

Oh please, like you needed another reason to sip on your haterade. Root all you want, it makes the winning sweeter.

I love when people try to call me a bandwagon-fan since I'm from Jersey yet love the Pats. Mostly cause then I'll pull out my bright blue Bledsoe jersey I got when he was drafted and go "What's that now?"

Why would you care if people get on the bandwagon or not?

Synergy layin down the law.

I kinda chuckle when people ask me if I'm a Steelers fan then when I ask them what team they're a fan of, they start rattling off 3 or 4 teams.

That's the cross you have to bear for not following your hometown team and for currently rooting for the reigning NFL dynasty franchise. I admit I sort of roll my eyes when I meet non-NE Pats fans, but I did say pre-Brady, which you say you were.

I mean, it's a free country, people can root for whoever they want, I just can't imagine there being the same satisfaction in watching a team you jumped onto after they got good versus sticking with the same team through the lean years. People in Boston are spoiled right now, but I still kind of shiver when I think of the Red Sox pre-2004. I mean, that was hell - precisely why 2004 was so sweet. But I digress.

I wonder if Favre will play another year if GB doesn't win it all. Aaron Rogers is like, "Oh come on!"

Simple: they take away from the *real* fans. They're generally obnoxious frontrunners who know little about the game. They give the rest of us a bad name, and Johnny Come Latelys piss me off.

Exactly. I don't understand this at all. I mean, I hate the Steelers, but I've never met a Steelers fan who admits to NFL bigamy. Notice how we haven't seen many Dolphins fans posting? Yes, I'm a Bruins fan.

I wonder that myself. Yeah I have two teams I cheer for - obviously the Vikes and Patriots. Being from Minnesota I grew up as a Vikes fan. Yes I get frustrated with the team but I stand by the Vikes since no matter what I will be a Vikes fan. And that love extended to the Pats since I've grown into a Pats fan during this decade slowly. I won't lie that I don't know much about the pre-Brady Pats (outside of the Pats losing to the Packers in the 97 Superbowl, and the team at some point was the Boston Patriots). However I've discovered a team that continues to amaze and astonish me. I'm here to stay with the Pats.... even when I get frustrated when they lose, I'm still a fan.

Edit: I just saw Synergy's reply to this question Guile asked. While I agree with what you wrote Synergy.... you also have to admit that if a team can build new fans during winning seasons like this.... isn't that a good thing?

I agree 100% with everything. I don't even bother discussing football with someone who likes two teams. What would be the point? If you don't have the balls to stick by your home team and your home team only you are not worth the effort.

It's good for the franchise as a whole, sure - they sell more Brady jerseys, thus become more profitable, and that trickles down.

But I have to be honest (and I like you, Demo Man, I'll just say that off the bat) - I will always sort of consider people that join the party after it's begun as sports whores. Sorry. It's just how I was raised. I know America loves a winner, and believe me, I'm loving being the winner right now, but I'd rather have stabbed myself in the eye than join the Cowboys/Niners/Steelers party EVER, and I would never have joined any of the other winning franchises in any other sport - I hated those franchises with a PASSION. Which is why though I get sick of people whining, I at least respect them for their hate, I'd feel the same way. I hated the stank Yankees, the Bulls, the whore Lakers, etc etc.

Sorry for rambling.

fuck you. Try living in Cincinnati.

;)

Good points Synergy. I definately can see where you are coming from as well. However let's enjoy the great times that is going on right now. :D

I will add that this Packers/Giants game has been one helluva dog fight. No matter who wins this will be one game that will be remembered years from now.

In my experience, I've met people who root for multiple teams.. it doesn't work really.. I mean when I was growing up, I'd also root for the Eagles and Vikings (family).. but it never really was anywhere close to the Steelers...but I know people who are Texans fans..but also root for the Colts, which I've tried to explained to that person how much he was disrespecting his team by doing it..he doesn't get it.. It is like me rooting for the Browns or Bengals.. it f'n dumb..

fucking Giants.

If they lose this game, I will have to root for the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

And I sure as hell don't want to be doing that.

EDIT: Thank you for the interception, Favre. You can retire now.

Good ending but still gotta give it the BOOOOOOOOOOOurns......

Just glad they are playing my Pats cause they are gonna eat the Giants for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Well, as much of a packers fan as i am.. We deserved to lose that before OT.

Worst special teams effort in recent memory. That, and the offense was completely useless in the second half.

Pfffffft.

wow.

favre was throwing badly all game, but giving up that INT in OT was just too much. manning was great and tynes totally redeemed himself lol

i think the patriots are going to steamroll the giants but we'll see.. they're proving to be pretty resilient
