NFL 2007 Season Thread

I'm glad the SB is in Arizona...looking forward to the return of the New England Air Show. Props to the Giants (that pick helped me win my pool) - but the ride ends here, boys.

thats what America said the last 3 games

Nah, I picked the Giants all through the playoffs. Anyway, I like the way we match up. Can't wait for the Super Bowl.
Should be a good SB if the first game was any indication.
Exactly - that's why I'm looking forward to this one.

yup

and the most exciting part........THE MADDEN 09 DEMO WILL BE GIANTS/PATS!!!!!!
Coughlin's not very humble, is he? He seems a little too smugly satisfied.
yea, he seems like an asshole

but at least him being pissed off after every play paid off

Whats the Patriots record against teams the 2nd time they've faced them in a season? Its some crazy number. Considering the Pats rested half their offensive line in that game, I feel good about the matchup.

Man...that game reminded me so much of the Cowboys game in the beginning (the Packers). Plaxico (Harris needed help and they didn't give it to him) was unstoppable and they went away from got them there, SHORT PASSES and Brett not fucking around. They went to grant probably a max of 10 times.

I just don't get why teams that are doing well the whole season change shit for the playoffs and fall.

Props to the Giants and as much as it hurts I gotta root for 'em against New England.

how come this super bowl is reminescent of the pats/rams superbowl where they had the pats at 14 underdog and then the pats beat the rams...they just made the Gmen 14 pt underdogs and arent heavily favored to win. i dunno..its just a thought..But great game and the SB is gonna be great also. I hope pats fans dont think this is a walk over because it isnt...they almost lost last time and can lose this time. and if brady plays like he did today...they have a greater chance of losing..

edit- or was that the broncos/packers superbowl.....great im confusing myself!
This has to be one of the few times most of the country will by default be rooting for a New York team in a title game. Heh heh.
i was rooting for the Pats all the way until the Giants won against GB!

Well, being a lifelong packer fan, I have to say im proud of the season they had...13-3 and an NFC championship game was amazing for a team hoping for 10-6.

Only thing that upsets me was that they gave up on what got them where they were. They stopped running the ball and gave up on the short routes for YAC. All the packers tryed was screen plays that you can't get off around the linebackers of the Giants. Very disappointing gameplan. Very. Mike Mccarthy can forget the contract extension for awhile, because he has a problem getting the team up for big games aparently, and loses his focus.

I think the spread isn't so much a reflection of the quality of the Giants as it is how people will bet. A lot of people are going to bet on the Pats going 16-0.

that was awesome

but not as awesome as those beautiful GB fans in bikinis

That was a great game with the correct team winning (NYG @ GB). I thought Favre played his age in that second half. He just didn't seem able to get any zip on the ball and he was throwing at receivers feet. That int in overtime was a horrible throw.

In two weeks it will be the new evil empire vs. the G men. I will definitely be rooting for the Giants.

I can understand not liking Green Bay since you obviously like Chicago, but saying the "correct" team winning is pretty lame.

I remember you saying the packers were "lucky" or something. Luck = Chicago even making it to the super bowl without a good quarterback last year.

But that's why we have opinions. Good day :p

Its pretty crazy that the only quarterback that has not thrown an interception in the playoffs in NFL history (i think) is ELI MANNING!

Unstoppable, Eli Manning is

This has been an awesome year so far - I hope everyone just keeps picking against the Giants. The Pats have not looked unbeatable recently and I expect the Giants to give them a game.

Imagine this headline:
Brady Throws 3 INTs, Chargers Never Get In The Endzone... Who Do You Think Won?
I must say though, that going to the pats game, regardless of the fact that it was literally 0 degrees, it smelled like the entire stadium collectively farted every other second, and that the guy behind me stated on every third down (even in the first quarter) "This is it, this determines the game", regardless of all that, I wouldn't have missed it for the world, sorta...

You have a point. It wasn't the "correct" team but the team that I most wanted to win. I did say the Packers were lucky and I stand by that statement. Hell they even lucked out twice tonight with those two missed FGs from Tynes then winning the coin toss in overtime. Did the Bears have a little bit of luck last year, I guess to a small extent but the Packers this year got every single thing to go their way:

The Eagles and Redskins both handed them wins, injuries decimated the Bears (although we somehow managed to account for two of the Packers three regular season losses), it snows like crazy in game #1 nullifying the Seahawks passing game making them easy pickins, Jessica Simpson and the Giants upset the #1 seeded Cowboys allowing them to host a second game, and the Packers are given 3 opportunities to beat the Giants tonight in the 4th quarter and overtime.

Chicago earned thier record fair and square (playing teams in the regular season like Seattle, NE, Tampa Bay, and NYG) ,and had to play the two toughest seed (Seattle and New Orleans) to get to the Superbowl.

IMHO.

Fair enough. Like I said earlier, they deserved to lose. The packers might have the worst punter in NFL history. Not that it would have mattered.

Neither team seemed to be able to punt tonight mostly because of the weather. I was shocked by how poorly Farve played in the second half and overtime. When Tynes missed the FG at the end of regulation and GB won the toss I thought for sure Favre would march the Packers right down the field for the win.
Eli Manning is the first white quarterback to win at Lambeau against the Packers in the playoffs.

CIVIL RIGHTS FTW!
i thought he was down with the dradel

Nah man, he sucks at punting in 30 degree weather. 29 yard punts? Terrible. Plus he botched a few last month.

Damn, so much for my assumption. Congrats to the Giants, I hope they keep it up and upset the Patriots.

Someone needs to tell that dude from the packers to FALL on the ball and not try to scoop it up. That last INT from Favre was very poorly thrown, it seemed like he didn't throw it hard enough and it sailed forever.

Your dillousinal buddy, because if your saying favre showed his age and that's why he played so bad in the second half, then eli manning must be 40 too because he wasnt so hot after the temperature dropped at half time.

I think it was a combination of horrific play calling and temperature that did the packers in. They just abandoned the run entirely.

I can't stress enough just how bummed I am waking up this morning. It was a rough night of sleep.

The Packers were practically non-existant in that second half. They looked like they were in a panic. They couldn't get a damn thing going, run or pass. I just keep thinking back to how many times the Packers had a chance to wrap that game up and ended up giving the ball up.

Brett Favre just couldn't get it done. Dude had a decent first half, and I thought he would bust out in the second half. Boy, was I wrong.

I'm bummed, I'm disappointed, I'm pissed.
Quoted for post-game LMAO.
Yea, you quoted it for post game... and now what? THATS RIGHT! ELI MAGIC!

Dude, take off your Favre love blinders for a second. Age, weather, whatever the cause Favre played horribly the entire second half of that game. On most plays even when the Gaints blitzed 7 or 8 guys the pocket held. Despite this Favre continued to underthrow and throw behind his receivers. Eli had some bad passes but despite the GB pass rush he was able to make some big throws.

It was just strange to see Favre get opportunity after opportunity by the Giants and still not be able to get the job done.

Um, the Giants scored 17 of their 23 points in the second half - 2 TD drives to start things off. Eli was fantastic for the entire game. Favre played well too - he just made two bad throws for INTs - they were lucky they got away with the first one.

Hey do you guys think that eventually Green Bay will force Brett into retirement?

I mean...I am sure they are going to want to go with a new QB at some point in the near future but Brett will not go anywhere until someone forces him.

As bad as Favre played in the second half of that game, and as much as he makes those bone-headed throws that end up in INTs (which he only does because he's been able to do it his whole playing career), let me just say that a Brett Favre playing at 50% of what he used to is still better than 80 or 90% of the REST of the NFL quarterbacks.

I expect he'll come back although I really think he should just exit gracefully.

And no, Green Bay won't ever force him out.
Which is advantage Giants...
I don't think it's an advantage for either team. Do the warm-weather Pats play worse than the cold-weather Pats?

well if anyone can beat the Pats, its the Underdog Roadwarriors
im happy and its a beautiful day

i just want to tell all of the GB fans that you guys show the most class out of any group of sports fans ever (unlike some other fans that we know). GB had a great season and hopefully Favre can come back and end his career on a good note.

Anyway....AM I THE ONLY ONE EXCITED FOR MADDEN 09?!?!
before the roster updates, Giants were 81 overall and now they are 85....imagine how good Eli and the rest of the team will be!!!! Not to mention the Demo will be Giants vs. Pats!!!

2 weeks from now we'll be seeing this very often!
