Official "Donate Games to the Troops in Iraq" Thread

He did accept a cd/dvd full of porn at some point, so I imagine so :)
Thank you for fighting for our country
Yes thank you, and thank you to all soldiers fighting for our rights. I'll try to rally some kids at school to donate any games they would like to. I'll send a couple as well. Is there a given date as to when we can't send them anymore?

Hey guys I got a question and am hoping you can help.

I see that if you are sending over more than one pound you need to fill out a customs form. I looked at the USPS website but am not sure which one to use. So which one is it and can it be filled out online? Oh and does it have to be attached to the outside of the box itself or placed inside of it?

Thanks a lot,
Kyle

Lebron, you need to fill out "Customs Declaration & Dispatch Note - CP 72"
As far as I know, it's attached to the outside of the box, and for shipping to a foreign military base, they might supply you with the box for free if you take it to a post office.

PwnedRadio, thanks for the segment tonight! I tried calling in but kept getting a disconnected signal. I shot you an email.

Shane,
Thanks to everyone at my work, we raised $256. With that money and games donated, we compiled 43 games. And my father offered to cover all shipping costs through his company.

here's the list that should be shipping out today or tomorrow. The guitar hero controlelrs will be shipping seperately, so there will be 2 packages. If it's not too much to ask, could you take pics with the stuff, so I can bring them into work and share them with everyone who helped out here. Just put on the sign in the pics G-Nitro, Central Office & 3E145. Thanks man, and enjoy everything.

I am still working on dates and trying to find someone to replace me in this cause. Hopefully I can find the right person or else it will either have to end or we can just move it to my residence. If I relocate it, then I do not know how to ship everything over to here unless it is on my own dime. I can do that to an extend like ($500) but after that I would have a hard time convincing the old lady
Will you all accept DVD movies also?
We really do not need movies because, from my understanding, Iraq never signed the copyright infringement law and are not subject to any fines or anything so they have a store that sells nothing but bootlegs. If you can bootleg it, they can sell it and they are a bunch of assholes. They robbed me of $80 for this POS power supply that lasted 3 weeks before it almost caught on fire. Another problem with over here is the 220V electrical current and the crappy wiring that has been laid down over and over again.

We also have a shared drive where everyone uploads their movies and TV shows. They have a lot of movies on there

PWNEDRADIO, went to the site to attempt to download your show. Which is the newest show? The top one? let me know please.

Csidegamer and G-Nitro, thank you for the donations for the drive. Very awesome of both of you. G-Nitro, tell your company we appreciate all the help and pictures will be mandatory...lol

Today I received packages from portwineboy and craab. I have to go and eat chow (dinner) but I will get up pictures as soon as I can. I will just update this post instead of creating another.

I’m putting up the shows today Shane! Great Work and I want to personally thank you for doing this for your guys! And stay safe! Thank you guys for protecting our freedom!

Sorry if this question has been asked already, but I didn't see PC games on the list of games to donate. Are PC games being accepted? I have some games like The Witcher and Gears of War that I'd be happy to donate.

I have an average condition/complete Forza 2 that I can donate. It plays perfect but someone could always return it to MS with $20 later on and get a new disc. The box, manual, and etc are like new. I'd donate more but all I have left is Call Of Duty 4 & halo 3 and I need those. :D

Thanks HotShotX for your help, I appreciate it.

Neushane, I'm hoping to send out these games tomorrow. Can you let me know when you get them?

Thanks Lebron, I will look out for your package. I said I would update my previous post but I will just use a new one since that one is already a large reply.

Here are some pictures I received from the group setting up the Rock Band bundle last week:

Here is a pic of one of the troops receiving some games:

I am expecting a bunch of replies to this thread from the base tonight. I handed out a bunch of games and answered over 150 emails since last night because of this post on our bulletin board:

(02/11)FREE: Video Games from www.cheapassgamer.com “Donate to the Troops in Iraq” drive. Donated games include Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, Game Cube and PC. Email for current list of games.

Here is a picture of me messing around & trying to think of props to show off donations:

And some bonus pictures. We've all seen the video of Cheapy's cool japanese toilet, right? Well, he ain't got shit on this baby. 160 square feet, seating for 2, A/C or heat for seasonal temperature control. Standing room for 4, face-level urinal while sitting down, scorpion and spider friendly and daily maid service. Feast your eyes on this (lol):

Hey there Neushane,

Im Witzbold from the Kotaku website and saw the story about the donations there when it ran last week wendsday the 6th.

I just signed up to check and see if the package I had sent last week thursday had arrived for you guys yet? :) There should have been some note packed in the thing also, pretty sure the box would have been rather unique looking since not too sure how many packages you guys got from japan too.

Anyways great stuff though seeing fellow gamers helping out other games deployed over seas!

Stay safe and will be checking back on this thread often!

Witz

I received a lot of packages today in the mail. People are donating from outside of CAG now. If you are mentioned from this point forward and I missed your CAG screen name, please email me and I will update it. I would like to thank:

Whipsmartbanky
Richdmoore
Greg from GA
Oleg from WA
Aaron from OK
Charles from NY

Thank you all for the donations. I will update my current list I email out to the troops with these great games and accessories.

Whipsmartbanky, I only received 1 of your boxes today. Hopefully the other one comes in tomorrow or the day after.

Here are some pictures of what I received (just from today):

Hey Shane, you're gonna get the package of games first. My parents haven't packed up the guitars yet. They are trying to find packaging for them, so they make it there in one piece. Just wanted to give you a head's up. The package is gonna come from Bud Miller Associates, but my note should be in the box, if they didnt leave it out. LOL

That's great, Shane! Glad you got them so quickly! I hope they're well enjoyed. I see my drawing made it as well. ;)

I only sent the one package. When I first got in touch with you, I had PMed you the list I was going to send, and then I PMed you again when I decided to add some more games to the bundle. Then I shipped it all together. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Perhaps I can wrangle up a few more to send you in the near future, though. ;)

Today the 1st donated console hit the sandbox deck, a Playstation 2 (slim edition) sent in by CAG Richdmoore. Very cool donation and I already found a home for it! A Marine officer emailed me about his 26 troops with only a TV and a VCR:cold: for entertainment. Perfect timing and a very likely candidate for this great donation. They are going to pick up the system and 15 games in the morning. I hope to see a response from them in the next few days discussing the setup.
Are there any games that y'all are dying for, or just send whatever? And thanks for what you do, shane.
Thank you for the post. I can not ask for certain games or take requests. If someone out here wants to get on and make a request than so be it but I personally can not do that. What ever you can send will be great and if you can not send out anything...that is fine as well. As you can see from my previous posts in this thread, it does not take much to give someone some thing new to do. Thanks again!

I went to the post office to find a few boxes that contained donations. Here is what we got in:

Hector from FL:
-Kingdom Hearts (PS2)
-Ratchet & Clank – Up Your Arsenal (PS2)
-Baldur’s Gate – Dark Alliance II (PS2)
-Lord of the Rings – The Return of the King (PS2)

Here are pictures of the Marine group that received the PS2 and 15 games that I put together with all your donations:

img0402te2.jpg

And here is the reply from the group's Maintenance Officer:

"I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you for your kind generosity. My Marines received the Playstation and some games you sent out here. Video games are one thing that Marines like to do during their down time. I have a Platoon of 24 Marines and a common area the Marines can use. Up to this point they were only able to watch movies. Now they can enjoy the game system and games. We are very grateful to you.

Thank you and Semper Fidelis

CWO Pappas"

This is a really great thing we CAGs are doing and this example is exactly why I wanted to start this donation drive. I could not do it by myself, so THANK YOU CAGS & EVERYONE OUTSIDE THIS SITE that contributed.

THANKS!

I'm gonna need a bigger box. :)

dinaboo:

The address is still good. I will update the thread when I get more information or someone to take over where I have to leave off. I am trying to find a long-time member of CAG but have came up short so far. I had one person who volunteered to take over but he never heard of CAG before.

I have been receiving a bunch of Xbox games so please donate them if you wish. Gamecube games are compatible with the Wii so they have been requested more than I thought (Since you can not get any good Wii games out here).

Thanks for the help!
neushane

I just wanted to take the time to thank SK1 Neuhaus for setting this up with the donated games. The PX (mall for those who don't know) here on base doesn't have a great selection at all, especially for those of us who still have the original X-Box. So thanks again and everyone keep donating; it makes for one more nice-ity for us out here.

Cush

A quick post for now and a BIG update to follow in a few hours:

I am still in the process of trying to find someone to take this over before I depart. I have a few options available:

1. I can find a fellow member of CAG to pass the torch to. Someone affiliated with the site for sometime, not someone who just signed up. If you are deployed to Iraq / Afghanistan please let me know.

2. Forward all mail in my name to a local MWR representative and have them try to do what I have been doing.

3. Forward all my mail to the new USO that opened in Balad, Iraq. See link:
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/02/ap_iraq_firstuso_080207/

4. Have all packages re-routed to my residence in California and ship them over in bulk (not as formal as what I am currently doing)

5. Fully cancel the donation drive and say "Thank You" to all those that participated.

Please reply and let me know what would be best. I am trying to find someone to keep this going. That is my priority and my choice out of these options.

I vote for 1. CAG is a large community and the odds of another CAG serving overseas are pretty decent. I say we select a CAG at another secluded base in Bumblefuck, Iraq, and start contributing to their base's supply of games. Preferably a base that's got more of a shortage of entertainment than most others.

We are having a severe sand storm today. Even though temperatures are nice, the sand is not so I do not have any cool pictures using equipment or anything. I can only provide you with the basic, dry, filing cabinet with white walls in the background kind of photos

***Shenkiat from the area I call home (Massachusetts) sent us a PS2 but it was gone as fast as I opened it. Another Marine unit had 84 troops and was short on entertainment. As soon as I got back from the post office, they were here and the timing was perfect except I could not get any immediate pictures. All I had time for was to spray some canned air into it. They invited me to their spaces and we will snap some pictures over there in the next day or 2 once they setup***

***TODAY WE SURPASSED 300 GAMES***

^Best pic by far - You know you ain't shit unless your holding a copy of GRAW while kneeling on your real convoy of M1A1s.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!

Awesome that you got the games Shane., my parents are having problems shipping the guitars. lol They cant find a box big enough for them currently, so as soon as I get to office depot and buy one, they'll be on their way. :D Thanks fr the pics

And I gotta go with #1, since it's the most trustworthy way to go about continuing this

Hey Neushane, this is Shenkiat from MA. Glad to hear that the PS2 arrived and found a home quickly. I'm afraid I couldn't find the composite cables that went with it (hence only component cables in there) so hopefully the guys were able to hook it up ok. If it's a problem, I'm sure it's around somewhere so let me know and I'll dig some more if need be.

I sent another box at the same time which hopefully will arrive soon. That one has a bunch of PS2 games, plus a PSP and a few games for that.

I hope you find someone to keep this going!

neushane,
I 've got a very nice company that has donated several role playing games. I'm sending over the dice, books, and shirts this week. Hope they help!

Damn, that kid holding up the UFC game looks really young (looks a lot like the kid from Bully).

I am looking through my collection to find some non-violent games like Animal Crossing and Katamari that I am willing to part with.

 • Gamecube - The Sims 2
Thanks again for organizing this.

FYI, I mailed the games a couple hours ago. There were too many games games to fit in the flat rate box, but what are ya gonna do? :)

Get a second flat rate box, and ship even MORE games!

Thanks n64ra, joserjerr and dinapoo for the updates, I will look out for your packages.

No mail for us the last 2 days because of a sand storm. It grounded all flights which meant no mail for anyone on base. I handed out a bunch of games though so stay tuned for a photo update later today (tonight for me).

***EDIT***
LOOKS LIKE I AM EXPERIENCING SERVER CONNECTION ERRORS SO I CAN NOT UPLOAD PHOTOS TO IMAGESHACK OR IMAGEHOSTING.

***EDIT #2***
Uploading them now thru Imagecross

For some strange reason when I try to print the shipping label at the USPS website it keeps changing the address from

SK1 Shane Neuhaus
30 NCR DET 1
FPO AP 09381-1702

to

SK1 Shane Neuhaus
30 NCR DET 1
APO AE 09381

What should I do about this?

It will still get here Stabby. The FPO and APO work the same way. It really goes off the zip. We actually use that address for purchases we make from the States using our credit card so I know it works.

It's actually three packages from me.
